Beanie level: Chaebol’s poor doppelganger

I am so behind Smart Prison Living. To be exact, 2 subbed episodes behind.

KAIST stole episode 13 for me. He ran away with all my warm tears this week. Oppa, please don’t forget uri Han-yang even when you’re far away in the other penitentiary.

I loved KAIST and Looney’s dynamics! They’re so cute!!!

Also, my fave part about their dynamic is when they’re going to fight while eating, and all the others get their food out of the table because Kaist will flip it. HAHAHA

when they meet again, one or the other will ask: “What I am saying is, ddidn´t you miss me, bastard?”

Omo. I can totally relate to this. These songs had been in my melon streaming playlist this year.

I read somewhere that there will be pre-emptions for Smart Prison Living and most weekend dramas except for cable and My Golden Life. But the schedule at db doesn’t reflect that. Is it wrong?

I came across the Naver Music Awards for hidden musician (lesser known artists who were most loved in 2017). To my surprise there is a rap version for I Will Go To You Like The First Snow. The rapping parts by Terry and the vocal parts by Ailee were balanced and mixed well. The arrangement was good too. Overall it’s a nice song.

P.S. I might be biased so take the review with a grain of salt. 😁

Han-yang (@Looney) tends to speak out what I feel about a particular character in this prison and delivers it in the most memorable way. One example is when he reprimanded Captain Yoo.

The gif illustrates my hypothetical explanation of what really happened that changed Caption Yoo mind about writing the letter.

Looney is just as sharp-tongued and clear-minded as Han-yang. Haha… And I just love it when he told Captain Yoo bluntly “Do you think you are the only one who felt everything is so unfair?”

Seeing other beanies marathoning and posting about Smart Prison Living make me feel all warm and fuzzy. It feels like we watch it together but on different laptops or tvs. The most probable reason might be because the sub just came out recently. But still, 행복해 😊.

At this stage I’m just waiting for the day when Captain Yoo will join in on the group dance.

Omo . . . the Most Beautiful Goodbye in the World indeed live up to its name. It bit farewell to the viewers with 6.176%, a jump of almost 3% from the previous episode. Seeing no sub or even raw (?) for this drama makes me want to join them.

I probably wouldn’t survive the show without shedding a single tear. 😭

I could imagine myself tearing up with just 1 minute into the show. 😅

Too bad no subbed episodes to validate the prediction. 😞

Chukahae Prison Playbook for reaching the 6% milestone. # 7 회 rating : 6.388

Despite of being a prison drama, there are many likeable characters that makes it hard to pick one.

So I would to introduce one of my faves in this drama, Looney. # Druggie of The Year
As a fan of Forest of Secrets, I\’m happy our prosecutor-turned-criminal signed up to this drama to serve his time in prison while showing off his comedic chops.

This drama does begin and end on a low note. But everything in between is so much fun. The summer foods 😍.

I don’t even mind if the drama is entirely in the 2004 timeline. Like the whole story is a Goo-Dae young flashback that he shared with his wife (Lively Baek Soo-Ji of course, not in any kind of urn) and children. Which is workable considered that the writer don’t even bother to make Dae young and Ji woo the OTP 😭.

Out of boredom, I scroll across this site and it has an event going on. The users of the site can sort themselves into four different houses, where they are named after the 4 Hogwarts’ houses. The funny part is that how apt those names to group the kpop fans (most of the users are kpop followers bdw). However, I personally feel that those names can also be applied to kdrama fans as well. For instance:

I feel that I belong to the BragginDor when the dramas that I watched do well that I talk about it all day long in the fan wall. Phew, glad that the weekly rating thread is gone. That’s BragginDor camping site! Not that I want to put a negative connotation to it. Nothing wrong with being a proud viewer. # Positive

I feel that I belong to the DeluluPuff when I fervently believe this particular drama is best one out there even though its rating flopped and majority said that it’s a mess or downright boring. Have faith in your taste because nothing wrong with having your own cup of tea 🍵.

I feel that I belong to the LurkerCrawl whenever I’m in a drama slump (tbh less often) or in a commenting slump (surprisingly this is very often).

I feel that I belong to the DramaQuin whenever I’m overact with the kdrama cliffhangers and post it all over the fan wall even though I’m pretty sure the next ep gonna picks up as if nothing happened.

I rest my case. So, who’s up for the sorting hat.

Halfway through the drama, I think the drama forgot that it’s What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim rather than What’s Wrong With The Kidnapping or What’s Wrong With The Family. Credit to the whole cast coz the whole assemble is killing it in the comedy department and their acting is on point.

Yay, 🎊 happy Goblin 1st Year Anniversary 🎊.

What would be a better way to celebrate this occasion other than to attempt this Soompi quiz. No soompi ppl intended.

7/10. Despite the meagre score, I’m happy because I could attempt it without look up the answers at google. Chukahae to myself.

What I don’t recall:

⭐️ Grim Reaper birthday’s month
⭐️ No. of beer cans that could make Goblin drunk
⭐️ Episode when Goblin realised Ji Eun Tak is his first love

I regret 😭 scrolling through the beanies\’ wall before watching the finale of Because This Life Is Our First.
The scene where the three couples at the back seat of the bus . . . I wish there is a 💊 to unwatch that.
There goes me being bipolar at the scene where I could be sentimental and happy concomitantly.

Damn you 5% wall. Regardless, in my universe it’s a 💤 sleeper hit indeed. ☺️

Don\’t tell me Smart Prison Living will be the next Argon (get subbed after it finished airing) even with some idols among its cast members?

Or did the subbers find the drama to long (±90 minutes) to subbed? 😅

Anyway, chukahae for passing the 5% mark. 🎉🎉🎉

I would have thought it would be subbed quickly because it’s the PD of the Reply franchise too. Huhu

I’m afraid that might be the case only if this drama is a part of the Reply series. 😢

I guess winner fanbase had quite a lot on their plate already with youth over flowers to be subbed. But, it would be very nice if we could lean on them for sub. ☺️

      3
      1

True. But Yoon isn’t the lead too, although I think he’s quite a character on the show. Hopefully, someone will step up if it really happens that no one is subbing this one, like what happened in Buamdong Revenge Club. Which got great ratings in Korea too! Really, Korean and international audience are very different. Hahaha

        1
        1

Agree on that… and I feel that my taste have shifted to Korean audience taste… which make it’s hard if we face this kind of situation… Can one country fanbase stand up and sub for us please… *still requesting lol*

          0
          0

Sadly Winner has a very small fanbase and I haven’t seen anyone talk about subbing it yet! In fact I have seen fans wondering like us about when the subs will be out.. I guess YoF with all the members is a priority 🙂

I would rather count on Krystal’s fans (Is her group still a thing or have they disbanded?)

      1
      1

I think F(x) status is still kind of ambiguous. They usually have a comeback together with Suju but this year it’s replaced by Red Velvet…
I only have been a fan of Suju and I don’t know maybe because they have many tv appearances from the start, usually some country or specific’s member fanbases sub the shows . I think the most active ones are SG, China and Thai. And some individuals translate from Chinese to English… There might be someone…. *desperate*

        1
        2

And Indonesia too… I noticed the sub of Age of Youth season 2 is translated from Indonesian to English..

          1
          0

SuJu obviously has old loyal fans who will try and sub everything the members appear in 🙂
Winner is comparatively quite a new group, specially if you add the many problems the group faced- from long hiatuses to almost being on the verge of disbandment.. I would actually even say that they have practically debuted again this year with Really Really.. I am hoping to see dedicated fans in the next few years though 🙂

The thing is that it’s not like Kdramas are not subbed if they don’t have idols in them! So I hope regular kdrama subbers also take a liking to the show!

          1
          1

Buamdong Revenge Club ended on a high note. So 😭 to see it ended. This is a rare moment where I’m glad the subbed episodes come out late because it can create an illusion that it hasn’t yet ended.

Bok Ja’s subbers. Hwaiting !!

    # Live # Cleaning my plate part 1

That ending 😍. Tbh, many times I feel fatigue with the show, mostly because of the plenty “wtf this is so unfair” and “life bites you in the ass when you least expect it” moments. But all the warm tears that I shed throughout the 18-episodes journey really worth it.

This drama gives a biography vibe. It feels like Noh Hee Kyeong ran around Seoul observing and interviewing patrol polices from the nugu rookies, upright lieutenants, sleazy higher-ups to rotten apples. But of course, this must be fictional. So kudos to the writer for successfully convinced me otherwise.

Even though I slightly hoping for an ending that wraps everything in a nice bow, like all the higher-ups miraculously held responsible and got supended instead of Captain Ahn Jang Mi, but I’m more than happy that it stays true to its narrative and slife of life vibe.

    Already missing these rookies.

That ending 😍. Tbh, many times I feel fatigue with the show, mostly because of the plenty “wtf this is so unfair” and “life bites you in the ass when you least expect it” moments. But all the warm tears that I shed throughout the drama really worth it.

Imo, this drama gives a biography vibe. It feels like Noh Hee Kyeong ran around Seoul observing and interviewing patrol polices from the nugu rookies, upright lieutenants, sleazy higher-ups to rotten apples just to give viewers an insider view of their life. Who am I kidding, this must be a fictional work. So kudos to the writer for convinced me otherwise.

I hardly get into noona couples (especially those using their age gap as an issue to add extra angst), but this do-over noona couple is an exception. They are just so cool and funny together.

If there’s one thing A Poem A Day is excelled at, it’s definitely the poems. The slice of life parts of the drama are good as well, but sometimes they’re overshadowed by the slapstick comedies and at other times they give you all the feels.

Even though it is a happy ending, my heart broken for the other ship that didn’t sail. Can the writer just bring back Woo Bo Young’s doppel ganger?

I guess all the praises for My Ahjusshi have been sung by uri beanies, so to not sound like a broken record, I decide to share my thought soup instead.

I notice a similarity between MA and OHYA. I think the writer re-employed her distinctive plot device: voice recording. I particularly like this device (trope?) because our lead could access the opposite lead’s honest innermost thought which i think might be a little bit awkward to be told face to face, hence the advantage of this device. I feel this is particularly effective to build emotional connection and genuine trust between characters. So writer-nim, I look forward to your next drama will similar build-up.

Pd really elevates everything, hands down. It also makes me wonder whether OHYA will be a healing drama like MA if the pd takes a different directing approach.

Finished with Lawless Lawyer. But seriously though, the court scene in the finale felt anti-climatic, like I could see from a neon away that Ha Jae-yi’s mom will appear. I also find it weird why the writer gives glaring hints to viewers about Nam Soon-ja being filmed by the hidden camera and the lawless gang saved Ha Jae-yi’s mom from being thrown into the ocean. That literally wipes away all possible elements of surprise. But let’s be honest, I’ll probably have drop the drama back then if Ha Jae-yi’s mom die again. So, I sort of glad that it turned out that way.

I think what made the drama enjoyable for me is because I really like the whole assemble and their acting are on point. I seriously can’t get enough of the lawless gang and their antics though.

I like many aspects of the show from the aesthetics cinematography, moody ambience, on-point acting down to the bgms. Tbh, it’s quite a slow burn but the times fly by really quick as I watch it.

At least for me, the drama delivers a satisfying ending. I felt that we run out of happy ending option as how things escalate in the final two eps. So seeing them together in whatever form they might be give me some closure. May their spirit be happily together in the sky with hundred million of stars.

P/S: I’m pretty sure the ending is different from the J dorama ver. Let me know if I’m wrong about it.

I’m expecting the ending won’t surprise me as I spoiled myself with fan theories for the past few days. Nonetheless, I still end the show with a tear fest.
