Beanie level: Candy

Speaking of updates, I wished we could have the option to follow a special feed, and/or mute certain things…. because right now, it feels a lot like Twitter if we couldn’t choose whom to follow and had to follow everyone, or a Forum thread with no set topic, no spam rules or any kind of rules. And as much as I wished I did, I don’t really have time to waste on things I’m not interested in, when I already don’t have time to keep up with things that Im actually concerned with.

YES! Not to sound ungrateful or anything but I would much rather have that than the notifications for likes.

Aw… why are you apologizing… *pat pat*
We all know how hard you work. I doubt she meant it as a criticism, just as a suggestion on how to improve the site. Keep up the good work, we all love you.

Nooo! omg Mary its totally ok! I’m sure you are working very hard at making this website run smoothly. Its a minor complaint don’t worry about!

I can relate. I’m worse at tolerating people 😛 I even quit twitter and don’t log in facebook. Maybe I’m not a people person, but I find it hard to get along with everyone 😆

I remember dramabeans had an editorial (was it javabeans or another recapper’s post about themselves?) where they talked about relating with Individulist Ms. Jiyoung and how she didn’t find the energy to be sociable. The struggles of introverted people like us.

Speaking of introverted people and their struggles, I even have a minor phobia when ordering food on the phone or at the restaurant. I dread it so much when I have other people with me, I want them to order instead.

Yes about the spam rules. Too much spamming. I’m more used to Soompi because it has rules against that.

Good idea! I would love for this to be added. Like maybe a separate tab for general Beanies and Beanies we follow or something.

Hmmm. Maybe a mute or follow button is not necessary but at least a spam rule. Normally, it’s ok, but when popular dramas air, it truly feels like I’m in several forum threads combined. When School 2017, I had to scroll through pages at a time. That was too much.

I am feeling deeply uncomfortable seeing these wedding pictures. I am curious, but not enough to feel comfortable peeping into someone\’s special moment when it\’s private with no press invitation.

Same. Curiosity is not a good enough excuse to invade someone’s privacy. I hate this sense of entitlement so many have over someone else’s private life. Even celebrities have the right of privacy outside of their professional work.

Javabeans recapping Revolutionary Love… Does that mean her emo drama slump phase is finally over? XD Congratulations JB! 😀 😀 😀

All talk has been around Do Hwan but for me, it has and will always be Yoo Ji Tae. <3 Fine wine indeed.

After finally getting caught up on the Harvey Weinstein story, my thoughts went back to remembering Jang Ja Yeon…

I had no idea that’s what happened to her. That’s so horrible.
I don’t understand why people think it’s okay to hurt people in really the worst ways.

I was wondering why Girlfriday was recapping WYWS by herself until I read Javabeans\’ Editorial about drama slump, lol. Sending some recapping energy to GF, and some life energy to JB. 😀

    Aww about his military exemption?
    Rough stuff there.

His letter? That made me sad. I hope his career can overcome this.

It makes me so sad. Netizens never think. Why would actors want to be exempted when it can take such a big blow to their image? And he DID enlist but they sent him back! He has such a good image and it makes me mad that this will likely damage his career. I really hope it won’t be too bad and that after he waits the enlistment time frame out he won’t have trouble getting roles. I need more SIG. Always. ❤️❤️❤️

Going off to sleep with a more positive thought. The overall quality of dramas in 2017 has been a pleasant surprise. Not always outstanding, but consistently good.

Liar is loved. #LiarChallenge #canLiarNinjasrestrainyourself #1post? #1day? #1week? #1month? #1year? #forever? #never? 😛

    Peaceful protest 😊

I understand your position but as people have said below I think it’s harmless fun and reflects when the new site came up.

General spam drives me crazy but I’ve just let it go. It also helped me to realize that the last few posts repeat at the top every time you change a page so it’s usually not as spammy as it first appears.

Very unpopular opinion….
I\’m newly inducted to the Fan Wall and I\’ve noticed something for the past few days that has been nagging me, despite fighting against that feeling. Mainly because of what it says about my character, ergo, petty and party-poopper. My birthday was end of September, and I made a \”new-year\” resolution to speak up my real feelings a lot more starting October. Who knew that a week later, and the level of my resolution would be tested so soon. I was in my bed but the feeling that I needed to express my thoughts, even my worst ones, kept me from falling asleep. So I\’ll say what I think about it and advise you to skip this, since it\’s going to be unpleasant to hear.
It\’s regarding the so-called Liar mania on here. I realize in my brain that it\’s the result of Beanies\’ love for it. That it\’s a wonderful thing which should be celebrated. However, I can\’t shake the feeling in my heart, that the spam, the likes, etc. is overwhelming, and not in a pleasant way for outsiders like me. The contrast with other kind of posts make the Liar fans seem, frankly, discriminatory towards less popular posts as the inequality is too large to ignore. It\’s turning into a popularity contest. Or like observing an overly doting parent who keeps bragging about one of their kid and over-praising them at every occasion, while ignoring their other kids. Is there such a thing as too much love? Probably not. The more the better. But my petty self can\’t help but wonder if showering with so much unequal love can make others feel bad.

And this is not to mention that the random name-dropping, the blatant and explicit exploitation for likes with Liar posts. Which is strongly reminescent of all those attention-seeking and unsubstantial Youtube comments asking for likes or repeating unorginial memes, or of social media, which I quit, precisely because of its obsession with likes and followers and all those fff requests (follow for follow). I had thought Beanies to entertain themselves more meaningfully. It also make Liar fans seem silly for indulging those posts, and letting themselves be exploited. It\’s their freedom, for sure. It\’s actually my problem. I remember being irrated when back in the days, BTS ARMY kept spamming BTS-name dropping comments on every Youtube video and kpop article ever. I can\’t deny that the fandom built itself with its passion, but I don\’t miss those comments, which I find obnoxious.

Long story short, I don\’t have a very positive opinion of the phenomenom, unlike many others (and probably unlike everybody but myself). I want to see if Liar fans can change my opinion of them by issuing a challenge. In my next post, I\’ll post something positive about Liar, and I want to see if you can restrain yourself from liking it. Let\’s see if I can have less than 10 likes, and the best, 0 likes. I\’m making it easy for you since with this post, you\’re probably not inclinded to like anything I will write from now on anyway. It\’s really a mere formality for myself, so that I can see if Liar fans can restrain themselves for one post.
Or better yet, can you exercise self-restraint for one day? For one week? Let\’s see how you do. Haha.
Ultimately, this is mere empty talk and venting. I hear Liar fans like challenges, so I\’m issueing one, but I don\’t actuallty expect them to take on my challenge. Because I do recognize that it\’s entirely in their full rights to like whatever they want, and that we can\’t force them on what to like. And that showering something with love is actually beautiful and a good thing. I just need to get over this, but it\’s hard to fight against my petty nature. Maybe writing my thoughts out will help.

Glad you vented out since it was preventing you from falling asleep! That’s terrible!
But I also think you are over thinking a harmless gag running on DB.. even though I have never watched the show, I think it’s sweet how there is soo much love for it.. and the gag is that the liar ninjas recognise their manic love.. the teasing posts and still like everything with it.

Also, ‘exploiting the ninjas’.. i know i use that phrase most often to tease a good friend.. but its not really insidious or real exploitation. It’s more initial curiosity to see how far the trend goes and then eventually actually watching the show and enjoying it. Plus the ninjas are pretty aware of the teasing and ‘exploitation’ since its always mentioned explicitly or implied. Also exploit what exactly? Like @redfox says it’s not like we can do/buy anything with the likes..

This post isn’t to prevent you from expressing your opinion or saying that you are wrong.. but more explaining my viewpoint on the sweetness of the phenomenon.

I surely hope that your liar post actually gets insane number of likes and brings a smile to your face about the incorrigible loving nature of the ninjas! 🙂

    Gnite!

Hmm. I’m one of those Liar Beanies, sort of. I liked the show, so I’ll like the posts that remind me of it.
But I see your point that it seems like overkill at times. I think it’s part of every community, that certain behaviors/personalities can become grating. There are things that irritate me as well, and some days I just have to disengage until I can come at it with a better frame of mind.
I appreciate your attempt to be respectful while still expressing your unpopular opinion. 😃

*that sounded wrong. Not your attempt to be respectful, but that you were clearly choosing to be respectful and not deragatory.

It also has to do with TLAHL being the first popular show on Dramabeans since the introduction of upvotes (SWDBS was ending), when people were most enthusiastic about using the new site. The TLAHL fandom culture is influenced by that.

    11
    1

I was thinking the same thing. Back in the day, popularity was just shown through comments (i.e. Healer, King 2 Hearts) but with the like button the love has just manifested in a different way.

The Fan Wall is communal space, like a massive open-topic forum, so I can see why it’s difficult for all fandoms to get along with no friction. But since it’s Beanies we’re talking about, I have full faith they can do it and be tolerant of others!! Sure, some people spam, but there’s actually not as much Liar & Lover spamming than some others so it’s unfair to target just them. It’s going to get better once the follow function becomes functional and we can pick and choose what to see. Meanwhile, Hwaiting!

I think the fan wall is pretty good about the fandoms coexist 😌✌️
I think issues more often happen with mmm oh the thumbs down button, spam posting and I guess now with people wanting so many likes…but we’re all still cool so it ain’t that bad 🙃😉

I get you. Honestly I really only like the posts where a Beanie remembers a TLATL moment or is rewatching or watching for the first time.
Then it is fun because you’re sharing your love. ❤️ Speaking for myself though if you involved Crude Play I will be there liking it. They are my joy. ❤️

With that said…Mmm..the posts that just talk about TLATL “likes” can range from funny, to okay to a little annoying. It can get a “little dance monkey dance.” But I do know it’s not from a bad place and it’s just teasing so sometimes I do like those posts but mostly I just keep scrolling. Oh those raga muffins.
Hey by the way did you say if you watched it or if you watched and liked/disliked it?

Sungmin and Kim Woo bin too. Really a depressing year to be a fan…

I had to Google Sungmin and wow that’s ridiculous. I mean he probably could have handled it better but for fans to basically be protesting his marriage that has nothing to do with them is stupid. It’s actions like those that make it hard for to admit I’m part of any k-pop fandom.
