Hiroki in Yankee-kun is like Masaki in Otomen? Geez, sisters, you gotta stop with the dangling of the green tea kitkat of Yankee-kun on my head. Masaki in Otomen = so adorable I <3333333 until I passed out from too much adorable. Pi in Nobuta is not even as adorable as Masaki in Otomen, he was just "Akira does" and we all went *thoinks*, earth, welcome to our galaxy Pi.

twin, I don't know if Pi is a phase for me(ala my Masaharu phase), but I'm old enough to know it can be, and wise enough to know its probably not (have seen the entire two decades worth of Johnnys slither through). I'm screwed, but totally not embarassed either. :-) And yes, I don't even need to watch CB1, 2, and Kurosgai, ProDai, to safely state that Nobuta is Pi's best performance and best drama quality. Now...if only someone can explain to me the popularity of Kame?!?

If cyberstalking Water OB is a crime, I can get us out fo jail, so go kidnap her for our Christmas brain meld.

Sometimes I randomly flashback to what she wrote about The Young Yang's Clan, and I cannot stop laughing, I just start cackling like I was the witch spied Hansel and Gretel:

"Shao Nian Yang Jia Jiang: It's the classic scenario. The woman ditches the bad boy to marry the husband material. Then the husband material decides to go to a far away mountain to become a monk. "

Her marrying Wu Lang like was marrying a lump of tofu when the hottest, sensitive, soulful, infuriatingly challenging but thoroughly devoted, General wanted her. And for that, for once I was all like: yup, you silly wench, you deserved that!

@a_angus
Hah! You'll be surprised, this is the first time I've gone for someone other than the main, main guy (that's 'cos I genuinely didn't know who the main guy really was until recently when the hints were dropped). I just go with the flow of things and allow the drama to tell me its story, but PP was one of a kind and totally wild, so I watched it in a whole different way. Maybe I watched it while following my heart the whole time. I just 'felt' SJ was so perfect with HR and that had nothing to do with my fixation with General Choi in Chuno, I promise. Yoon Se-joon was his own character in his own right and similar to what Amg1 has said many times before, I felt their (Se-Ri) relationship was much more healthy and nurturing.
Just think back to all those precious moments in episodes 3! 5! 6! 9! There were so many examples of SJ's importance, and now all that means... nothing?

I also felt there was always a strategy and hidden logic behind HR's actions, and all her exertions for SJ simply had to mean something, all those crazy things she did and she was so very persistant. Heck, even after the smirkiss, the way she ran down the street in the dead of the night crying out ''sunbaeniiim'' thinking he was there... Oh!
... Or did I give this girl too much credit, thinking she was gifted in people-reading when she really wasn't?
I felt compelled to share sooo many examples pitting SJ against IW and how much SJ did things that much better, but I'm sure you've already heard them all. He wasn't just some dim 'side character' - never!

It's not only me who was confused about who the main male lead was, come on, for about 12 whole episodes they mislead us and confused us all. Hence my imagination was running wild. I predicted the story quite differently. And even if she wasn't going to end up with SJ, I was ok with that - because it had been fun shipping SJ and opposing IW, it's only a drama at the end of the day.
But I've realised now that I just don't like how anticlimactic episode 12 became, in terms of all four characters, I'm just not happy with the drama, story-wise and IW-wise, but that's just me. IW is an intolerable character and it's quite cringy to see him end up with someone as lovable as HR. No matter how much he may redeem himself later - jus sayin'!
I'm not gutted at all, it's just I can only watch a drama I can truly enjoy/feel invested in. I'd rather not sit through an hour of a drama just to sneer at it and its characters. Though that's fun too, but ... nyaaah!

lolz, speaking of Yang Clan, DARNN that scene where he's toasting her at her wedding nite.. IF it was any one of our triplet trio, we would've down more bottles of that liquer and just u know emm... and call it a real wedding nite. Seriously that woman can cry her life's worth of tears for all I care (not).

I wouldnt exactly call mine a Pi phase actually, because I watched Nobuta real time... so I had time to move on to other shiny things in btn my Pi servings and who r we joking, other than that shiny shiny shell and the mega NPW, Pi is as u said a WuChun, a SSH, an Ekin, there's nth more to sustain a real fandom or even long enough for a phase over the years (for me).

Hiroki's Yankeekun is no fluffy cottoncandy dreamboat a la Masaki@ Otomen, but my soft spot in these pretty boys is irreversible when they r in some slapstick role YET elevated it to sth endearing beyond it's written and give the role a heart so to speak, which Pi is still flailing. that also consistently explain my fandom of Mokomichi as Nighto in ZK. Yankeekun is the typical misunderstood badass w/ a gooey softie middle, throw in fight scenes and a manipulative REAL badass in a eyeglassed nerdy girl damsel package and totally maneuvering our spiky hero by his nose by a flip of her glasses... it's hitting all my kinks.

Kame, I can sorta understand, it's the same w/ Matsujun's fandom, they r not classical beauties but they have a certain lvl of acting abilities, and when they hit a role that encourage fangirling... the godly handsomeness will follow in the fangirl universe. it's how the clock works.

Now Shota.... again, I'm not intentionally spilling haterade, but I've really seen him constantly w/ ONE expression (his vaguely threatening brooding 1 in all of ep 1 TnK) rehashed most in Regatta, Jotei (ARGH! I seldom ask for time back fr a short dorama, but I still want it ALL back), Liar Game...even parts of Love Shuffle. Do I see range...seriously no. Even w/ my love for Bara no nai Hanaya, I will only say he's serviceable. Acting abilities?! I tried...but not really seeing the rainbows and unicorns. Hotness? whatever rocks your boat but the thing is I have Nic Tse (imo his face twin) WITH more talent and better hair.

LOLing over Yang Clan comments.
Seriously, that has to rank right up there as one of the Worst. Choices. Ever. !
Besides being obviously BLIND! That girl had to have been dropped on her head repeatedly as a child.

Let me put it this way, were it not for the fact that it's one of the weeks she isn't here, I would at this moment be sewing a Rinka-style schoolgirl punk outfit complete with long split skirt for fighting for momochan to wear to Otakon. Seriously.

As mookie says, there is something about the set up of Yankee-kun that is hitting on all the fangirl buttons here.

Heh, agreed, Nicky (who IMO deserved the actor award for Bodyguards & Assasins) is a hotter and better actor version of Shota. Too bad Nicky can't star in jdoramas.

I have to say, Nicky 2.0 is finally, finally, his daddy's son in terms of acting talent actually being raised bar by bar. Little by little, all the young, rebellious, I-can-give-a-crap, I'll drive fast if I want to, Nicky 1.0, all these entitled demons, seem to have finally be let go little by little. I can't say its but/because of Cecilia and the Edison fiasco, and them actually working through it (seriously, when Patrick was all I'm dumping my daughter-in-law, I was like, don't be such as ass!). But Nicky is like a different actor/person. I appreciate Nicky 2.0.

@ trixicopper and twin:

Yang's Clan - that wedding night scene - kudos to the PD for not throwing in a Wu Lang walks in on that intense tete-a-tete and fists fly dramatic crap (tho I'm not opposed to Wu Lang getting his pansy-ass thrashed anytime) - and for letting it start and end just as xiao-sa as Yelu Xie is.

I was crying inside for the scene, the look in his eyes, the way he drank that wine and just looked at her....I wanted to strangle her, then drop-kick her out the door, then grab my General and down many more bottles of wine (as you said)...and the rest is history. Awesome awesome acting by our loverboy. :-D

Trixi- bravo for the succinct summary of why that girl is as demented as they come [yes, blind and takes the short bus] Really!?!, because he's a Liao general and you're a Song peasant? Really!?! *HE* does not have any problems with that, and really, he might get shot by a thousand arrows if he brought you home to meet momma and the Empress, and he aint got a problem with that. And *YOU* have a problem with that?!? (sorry for the all caps and liberal use of question and exclamation marks).

He tells you exactly what he thinks and will do, time and again. While Wu Lang acts like a constipated self-righteous douchbag. This choice, while conceding was necessary for historical accuracy, should have taken the Bidam turn of events! If freaking Seon-doek can fall in love with Bidam (ZOMG, still jaw on floor this plot actually manifested itself), then whats-her-face could have reciprocated loverboy General's love but still elected to marry the dipshit for the sake of her sacrificing herself for protecting Yelu Xie.

Wahh! You are one brave lass, will have to hand you that. Hope you'll recover well and sooooon!! Coffee house seems great. I may get into it but quite unsure right now, I can rarely commit myself to more than two dramas at a time - yeah, I suck like that but can rarely find enough time in the day. :(

@Janna
He's 22! He's old enough, not illegal! Na-ah, not at all.
I've finally discovered Cho is a major and not a commander - progress.
I love how things are so atmospheric and picturesque in this drama, like the Gisaeng house - it was huuuge and I could hear the string instruments in the background. Glad our Major was there strictly on business and not y'know picking up chicks. I <3 Major Cho, glad you do too. Although I almost weed in my pants (ew, sorry) when Sung Mo comes straight face to face with him and is too numb with shock/fright? to run. Ooh, so close.
It would have been less scary had he come millimetres close and face to face with bleedin' Godzilla. I was like: 'run, crazy kid! RUNNN!''

(Chyahahaha! Isn't it 'mm mm mm mm mmm! I'm lovin it?')

About Windy Day, I did watch the first two episodes the week it came out. And aside from the bridge scene and the cute and lovable tomboy chick -- it was 99.9% another You are my Destiny, incl. the very same set, house etc.

Now I'm going to admit something very embarrassing but last summer I marathoned all 178 episodes of YAMD, although I skipped most of the latter half 'cos it just went crap. But the first 80-odd episodes I was addicted to.
I quite liked Yoona there, as the formerly blind, poor little orphan girl who through all kinds of circumstances ends up living in the house of her dead cornea transplant donor. Much to the dead girl's mother's (played by my fave ahjumma Jang Ae Ri) chagrin.

Although I think the main male lead is waaay hotter in Windy Day than Ho Se (Park Jae Jung) in YAMD - yawwn!

@a_angus
Anyway, the underlying exit signal for me was; if they were going to take away SJ's importance as a character they could've done it without taking away his coolness. Still love him but he's not even the same Yoon Se-joon anymore. He's barely got any screen time anymore, and when he has it's some random wishy-washy scene. If he'd stayed cool (episodes 1-10 level of cool) I would have endured ALL the IW travesties, for him, even if he was 'unimportant'!
And really, Jung-sun? Of all people! *snoooze*
I have to admit PSH's acting and KSY's is pretty strong, but still don't like the IW character and I'll zip it now, before I end up repeating myself over and over.

I absolutely agree that the wedding scene was a total killer. He certainly had me. I would have chosen him no questions asked. I couldn't figure out what her problem was. All I could think was "ARE YOU KIDDING ME!'

I understand the whole "historical accuracy" bit. But, if you are going to fictionalize the story anyway... You may as well go for it! :)

Dayum, that girl chose Poorly!

@eiko: Hm, seems it's listed on KBS World as Happiness in the Wind. I wish I got KBS World to know if it's actually on. Lame. I don't quite understand the politics of Viikii and what the license pending stuff means. Is that website making revenue now off of ads or something? (I say this because I have seen the episodes being worked on there)

@supah: I knew the plot of YAMD and I watched an episode or two or Loving you a Thousand Times (wait, LYATT was only 55 episodes.. it felt like FOR.EV.ER) but the last longlonglong show I truly followed was Likable or Not/I hate you, but it's fine.

Here's something worse and attests to my apparent drama addiction/drama collecting. I just downloaded the first weeks episodes of Gegege no nyoubou. Shigeru Mizuki is a really interesting person I knew little to nothing about before.

OMG!
OMG!
Just some random discoveries about Giant.
You know little Mi Joo with the angel voice? She'll grow up to be the nightclub singer/dancer that we saw in the trailer, right... and guess who her love interest is going to be??

Guess!

None other than Major Cho's son!

Gasp!

(Played by hottie Joo Sang Wook!)

I take it that's part of her own personal revenge plan, or maybe it'll be true love?! In which case it'll be Romeo and Juliet.

Either way, I'll. Be. Watching!

I watched Windy Day into 2 episodes and that was all that got posted. The 2nd episode ended where female who was graphic artist was trying to sell some stuff and the guy in the car drove by and ran through a puddle that splashed onto her things! Waahhhhh....I wanted to follow it from there because I got the feeling that was gonna be a love connection. :-(

I found the episodes into the 70's but all RAW....not a big help. I checked out I think it was 76....and that same gal was looking for that guy near the river somewhere and found him. The way they were looking at each other I was under the impression that they cared about each other....she kept calling him "oppa".

So....I don't know if I'm on the right track or not. It looks like the story involves families and I recognized many familiar faces from other dramas.

Right now QSD is on....I should go and check out Bi-dam!

Cool! Thanks for sharing.
Not personally too impressed with the results, it seems daily and weekend dramas seem to doing better business and well, Dong Yi. Ajumma power!

Website rankings seem to have Weds-Thurs dramas in more popular spots.

Do you have the rest of the list?
I don't think Giant would've made it in the top 10, it's highest peak was around 14.7 this week, which is just below your fave: Daring Women. You go girl with your 00.1% extra! Haha!

How're you feeling today? How long did your doc say you'd have this foot problem for?

@janna
Sorry, we were talking about long shows before...
I think YAMD is the only show above 25 episodes I've watched (... I think, yes, that's right). Don't even know how I got into it, I just did. I've pretty much figured out that once you've seen one daily show, you've seen them all. Though Windy Day is much better because Kim So Eun is adorable.
Yoona wasn't exactly bad in it, but she became a little bit monotonous, though I loved her wardrobe, for a homeless orphan girl she sure dressed way cool. And I loved her relationship with Jung Ae-ri. <3.
But then I followed it up with Cinderella Man and wished I hadn't, I still want those hours of my life back.

I think many of the long shows have a kind of married life theme to them and that I can just not watch. (Not that I'm bitter about my own 3-month epic fail of a marriage) but that stuff just ain't my thing, especially when it comes to witchy mother in laws *groan*.

I've decided I will stick with Giant, it's pretty much an EPIC! (Fooh'!) and its surpassed EoE, for one it has a comparatively richer, maturer way of storytelling and it seems to have its shit together, as in it seems it know exactly what its doing (hopefully).

I've also decided to stick with PP (after all that drama), I mean, it only has 4 episodes left, might as well give it a good send off after how wholesomely it entertained me in recent weeks. It was so fun.

*Prosecutor Princess Spoiler Episode13*
What on hell was that all about!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The only reason why I like PP was because Ma-Hye-ri's Character ! Why did they turn her into a Wretched, Codependent, Whiny, Catatonic, Unnatural Zombie like figure? is just beyond Proper, and not following a Logical train of tough.
She was strip from her basic qualities that made her character so lovable, her crying was so fake this time around that you cannot even see proper tears streaming from her eyes, to spend 50% of the episode time laying around and mopping around while SJ confesses his love to the other prosecutor lady it was just to absurd and comical not believable at all.
Now after Hye-ri founding out that In-woo was behind this incredible ,Deception of which her heart has just been torn to pieces and takes her what 4 hours to get the courage to go Slap the guy around? What What What The hell is that all about, What about Slapping him Silly as soon as she found out he was THE DOG behind this treacherous deed, and go back to the State Building were she works and Get A RESTRAINING ORDER AGAINST HIM!!!! Why Hye-ri did not run like a bat out of hell, wouldn't that be my or your reaction if we find out the same scenario in real life??????
Well I guess is all my fault to get invested in one of the dramas that in my opinion has been one of the best As Far As FEMALE LEADS is concern.
To turn Ma-Hye-ri, into a SPINELESS CODEPENDENT (I NEED YOU IN-WOO or ILL DIE) floor math of a character is the biggest INJUSTICE that the drama writers have bestowed upon Hye-ri, and in my book that should be a Capital SIN!!!!!!! Peace OUT!!!!!!!

Aloha Kakahiaka! Good Morning

That listing is posted at Soompi. Actually someone posted it at a DW forum.

My cardiologist told me it would take at least a year for me to be back 100% as far as chest area. For the foot...my primary physician not sure about it and that's why I'm scheduled for neuroscience testing first week in June. It's like choosing between a rock and a hard place because I should be walking a lot for the heart....but the foot makes the journey a challenge.

You go girl in whatever choices in dramas....I usually look at acting and then story. Sometimes even a favorite male or female will turn me off because their acting is so sub par from what I saw in another drama. In fact, sometimes I get drawn because there's something about the leads that get me. Like in DW the chemistry between the male and female is so darn .....what's the word here....connecting? hahahaha.... Man, that Lee Chang-hoon oozes sexuality!!! Like how Choi Si-won was so darn cute in OML.....the youngness having no bearing in the end result of a mature outlook of a relationship. I'm sure that exists outside of a drama and I'd like to figure that somebody drew that one up from a life experience. Life can be so damn cruel sometimes! :-) No...life can be so damn REAL!

Sighhhh....it's early here at 4:15 a.m. and now I'm off to check FB and then DW forum and new postings on Mysoju.

today is Thursday....another week sliding past quickly.

TTYL.....

The reason I bailed on PP early, and Supah knows this....I had a hard time dealing with MHR's character from the beginning. I went back so many times but couldn't take it.

You know a drama is working though when it can get viewers all riled up and pissed off.... I had a feeling it was gonna be Yoon being in love with Jin....it's the old story of a guy working around a female and has become emotionally attached but doesn't realize it until another female comes along and jolts the bejesuz either out of or into him!

PP will be airing here from next week and I know I won't be watching it. I thought I would give it a try but why aggravate my senses again.

Tonight is final episode for OBGYN....I'll get my Wang/Lee fix and be happy as can be seeing it on my 32" flatscreen! Last night I was giggling away at episode 15 and Ahns cute face and teasing Lee about the wedding gown and the ring. And Wang looking saltier and saltier by the minute.

Peace bro......go throw rocks somewhere! :-)

@eiko: I hope you get back to your 100% as soon as possible! Maybe you can get a cycle machine so you can sit and exercise without moving the one foot? hmm.

@supah: Ha ha ha. I never watched EoE so not only is Giant amazing, it has the sparkle of "It's the first thing I watched in this genre-type so it is the best to me"!
Yes, daily shows are pretty much daily shows. How do the poor people in these kdramas get so many clothes?

Smile, You was probably the best watch out of all the long dramas I've seen. If it was a 16 episode show it would have been the best show ever. Dragging out plots kind of sucks (you know asa-doramas, which are daily morning dramas in japan are only 15 minutes an episode!)

Smile, You also employed one of my favored plot devices: nerds. Kdrama needs more nerd love, but only if we could cut down on the mamas-boy aspect they have to pair with it. I especially like to watch shows where the guy pines over the girl first (not in the flashback "we have history" sort of way) more like in Hello, Miss. (But I didn't like that show overall due to other reasons)

@Yankee-Kun Ep3: Wait, what the. I skipped through this episode to see if there was any Chiba. There isn't. "Hey let's be friends and I'll come back to school" ... and then we never saw him again. ...ever. Chiba was so tall and stuff. I was just amazed by his tallness and wanted to see more. Wow, that sounds shallow.

Oh and about height things. This: http://www.kawaii-joyuu.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/Shida_03.jpg is adorable. They threw her in a pool during the press conference..... it's nice there isn't a super mini skirt contest going on during drama press events in Japan. Not that I'm hating on Kdrama actresses choices but sometimes it's like "Really? They let you leave the house in daylight wearing that? .. Really?"

i'll catch up tomorrow though.

@supah
glad ur back to watching PP.. looking forward to discussing with you on our disagreements on that, and our common new interest for drama Giant.
and also i don't have much time so i'll just say that i DID finish watching WISFC.... and i did like it a whole lot... especially for KSH (duh), NJH, and GS (kya!!). i didnt dislike HYS and unlike many, i wasnt annoyed by her acting, maybe cuz i liked her in fantasy couple? and is ep 10 the one where kang in talks about his dream house and family and kids and all that? if that's the case, i like that ep too. i don't remember what ep 13 was about... but i really thought the drama could be better without the whole memory loss thing... or at least, if it didn't serve as a plot device to drag the drama out for several episodes. so i did use the FF button a bit. but i agree, the ending was really good.. it made me smile despite being rather understated and not sugary. but that is actually the REASON it was good.

@eiko
get better!! know i'm supporting you across cyberspace.. ^^
@Amg1
looking forward to disagreeing with you about PP once i'll get more time..

ok, now i've really got to go!

@72 janna

Thank you....good suggestion about the cycle....i could easily use one of those that have the wheel and pedals (front only)....I can put my foot on the pedal....walking is a problem because of the numbness under my foot and the tingly sensation from below my knee. I cannot walk fast....have to pace myself and I use a walker on wheels for security and stability because I do walk around daily. I can't carry a small laundry basket and at the same type walk....I can't even wear regular footwear because of the swelling in my foot. So I have a very light weight strap type of footwear to protect my foot and I feel secure about it.

So....my life style has changed drastically....but it's a temporary slow down and I know that the lesson for me is to take it easy and not be in a hurry.

I'm thankful for my laptop....keeps me alert mentally although I have to take breaks to elevate my leg throughout the day.

Aloha....

@Amg1
OMG! What?
Wahahahah!!
That's it! I wash my hands of this drama, I've really made my mind up now. That IS a joke, it's ridiculous. I was *thisclose* to watching 13, but.. no way! Nuh-uh, not now.

I realise this now really IS the same team behind Shining Inheritance, there was one atrocious scene in the nightclub where HHJ was working under an alterego of 'Spy', and the main male lead, LSK (the guy she later fell in love with) physically beat her up - in front of everyone! And she was this wishy-washy character who didn't really fight back but just went with the flow and then later fell for him? Like whutdafuh!?!?
I still remember that scene and it still angers me, what angers me more is the way in which BSB's character stood back and watched, without intervening. Not BSB's fault - writer's fault. (I think silent observers are worse than the perpetrators, tbh... but that's beside the point.)
I think this writer kind of has a fetish for this abuse against spineless impressionable females (stockholm syndrome!) - kind of crap.
IW may not use violence but he is abuser, girls and boys, an abuser!

Really, if IW was not played by hottie Park Shi-hoo, instead by Lee Hyun Woo or Song Jong Ho or someone... then we'd see.

They have ruined what was otherwise a perfect drama. Fo' shame.

@V
Sorry V, after Amg1's comment, I revert back to my previous stance on PP.
WISFC: Ditto!
10 was when Ji Wan finally returns to Samcheong and reunites with her parents, then finds Kang-jin and after much asking-for-forgiveness, they finally kissed.
It was a perfect episode.
Episode 11 was the messed up one, which started with the dream of JW-KJ getting married, having kids etc but ended terribly. CH ran away with JS, YS set her house on fire and then blacked-out only to wake up with amnesia -- and well, I could go on, that episode was all kinds of weird.
I liked episode 13 because I liked JW's development, and her unique relationship with CH. I personally found that episode quite a strong and pivotal one.

@eiko
You hang on in there hun!!
Right now you have ample kdramas to keep you company! (And ME! Yay!)

@janna

@eiko

get well soon! :) I think the bike exercise is a great suggestion.

@janna
o I think I saw Chiba in 3, he's helping Hana out quite a bit. But w/ jdorama being so episodic, Chiba has his ep in 2, we know he'll just be there being tall.
I so <33 Yankeekun and Hana, their form of bickering is <333! and yes I'm 10 but I want more of those fight scenes! MORE!

TnK *SPOILER?RANT*

I'm still very disturbed and disgusted w/ what they r doing w/ Abe in TnK. It's more to the point that as if this is a natural, common, logical thing to do. and u'll see tranny prostitutes walking down streets of SH because LIFE IS HARD there. I have nth against tranny prostitutes, but frankly SH/China is not that open a society for the cross-dressing community to just walk around w/o major disruption of traffic...let alone able to walk into that supposingly swanky catwalk thing. And even of I let logic slide and Abe's character chooses that career, do we see say streetwalker walking around in their 'ho workclothes?!

*sigh* but I think I'll still check out TnK2 when it comes along... I have a better bearing of the dorama and I'm so ready for snark and go the WhiteOB route of 'funny...in unintentional way' so-bad-it's-entertaining. BUT if Abe is still in his ep1 clothes, I'll throw things.

lol CU b8tches, hear hear! (how's your eye healing up, lb_tmi?)

CU13*SPOILER*

I'll be brutal and frank up front. 13 plotwise is draggy and contrived... I hate that phone call HS made to make EJ dropped everything to go back home to her and hinder the BIG TALK. There r other stuff that is just bad lazy writing. BUT I'm not CU's bitch if I dun still <3 the ep despite its major flaws.
The acting... gosh MGY, LMS...my PIE. u just cant find bad acting in this drama. Taec's lack of experience is apparent in this ep w/ more subtle silent emoting, but still he's more than fine and doing a good newbie job. And w/o these talented actors, I dont think I can go on w/ Show. That and they always manage to put in a scene or 2 just totally GET me.

The scene this ep is the drunk big talk of EJ after being manhandled by JW. This is so befitting an EJ love confession. Do I wish KH just silently sneak behind the door there to listen to that heartrending speech?! u bet.

And of coz my PIE's ultimatum to HS. C!J!M! is just so terrifically sharp when he's allowed to show it in a good scene, ep12 was that love sq resto scene. Here I'm very impressed w/ some very little but precise emoting of his, eg that lunchie before 'the storm' of KH/HS, w/ a glance or 2 he conveyed how his heart is bleeding for the poor girl, but it's that instant that he has to harden it up and not let it go on further. I'm not feeling HS this ep, I dont want to fault SW just yet, because I do think she's been doing a terrific job last 12 eps, but what is w/ her little girl mannerism/talk at this point?! Is this deliberate regression or careless acting?!?! I'll let it slide for an ep.. but if 14 HS is still talking like an 8 yo, I'll really turn crazily bitchy.

and man, L!M!S! in that whole diary sequence has no lines...but she's just so terrific. We cant help but wonder almost along w/ her if she's just scavenging for scraps of valuable, or more. We're kept in a slight confusion, a daze w/ a purpose not too known just like her character is experiencing.. WOW!

and I think it's nycgrl commenting that she thought EJ is mentally unstable?! O I have that feeling many eps ago and I think I rambled on it in one of the ep's thread, actually my initially characterization of EJ has been she's just a feather away fr a mental breakdown...and we got the affirmation this ep. IF she's not made of stronger stuff and fed her mom's love potions... and she act on her 'musings' she would've been in an asylum.

Show, you and I need to have some words.

For 7 episodes, you were like me meeting my husband and us dating and your proposing on that sunset cliff at the Ritz in Jamaica, like, perfect for me.

Then the last three episodes, you were like me after marrying my husband and discovering that you snored, didn't always put the toilet seat down (okay, like never did), frankly preferred to dressed more like Brooks Brothers circa Men's Wearhouse with a preference for horrifying sweaters and shorts, rather than Hugo Boss with a twist of J Crew and some Prada casual.

I still love you, Show, happy I married you, but it was such a reality check to discover that really, you have all the same real life tendencies (in my playbook) that 90% of guys have. I'm okay with that, Show. The only man I married is my husband, so what I say about you, Show, I feel about my husband. And that's quite a compliment.

But really, I must teach you to put the toilet seat down (STOP it with the draggy non-OTP scenes littered throughout the final episodes, c'mon?!?), and the snoring, work on it (hello, stop it with the deux et machina of the playing for the Canucks and allowing the third wheel to dictate the course of the OTP), and the electing to dress poorly rather than sharply (OMG, really, Show, the long-missing BF turns out to be a turd of the first order + with a penchent for domestic violence. No, bad Show, bad, missing boyfriend should have been just a good guy, and yet she still picks Halu bc he is her SOULMATE!!!).

And yet, I still love you, Show, because you rock my world like nothing out there, a combo of Love Story, Hoosiers, The Cutting Edge and a genuine honest to goodness romantic pairing that curdles my toes with glee. Yes, I Was Born To Love You, Show.

@80 ockoala

Ah...snagged another one. 8-) And that was as fine a review as it needs. 8-)

Yes, frankly he should have been given an award for the beat down on the ex. And she should have been less self-sacrificing and grown a backbone having had one around him, but ya gotta love the teammates who stuck up for him (and hate the caption writer who couldn't spell Canucks.

I always say that this is the most k-drama like of j-dramas that I know of.

And the final ending and scene almost makes up for the previous two episodes....

...maybe...must be

@77 mookie

Abe still gets a WTH!? from me as well. Especially since he was not a good looking tranny prostitute. Hellz, any one of use with a decent closet could have done a better job dressing the poor boy. Frankly, most of the tranny's I know dress way the heck better than most of the women I know. I mean, if you are going to go there, go there with style and attitude and not make him look like a sad obasan.

And the more I think about the catwalk at the end, the more it reminds me of a stripper's cat walk than a model's. And it's ticking me off.

I agree - I'll give it another episode but since my drama plate is overfull already, TnK is coming very close to being tossed into the garbage disposal, and that's saying a whole lot coming from me.

OTOH Yankee-kun, I <3 you. Shinzanmono, you aren't rocking my boat, but Abe Hiroshi is his usual outstanding self and we'll ride this one out.

@mookie: Ah, on second glance he is there. Yeah, the show is first and foremost the adventures of Daichi and Hana.

I'm still watching Mother. Curious to see if it'll keep its steam throughout (up to episode 3, so far it's very good) and I guess I'll gamble to see if there's some redemption at the end.
Who am I kidding, this is a jdrama! Ha ha ha............ it's gonna be tragic...

@ twin, momosan

WT%&^*@#@*! Abe plays a tranny prostitute that wanders around SH dressed like what a scriptwriter thinks a tranny prostitute should dress like? O.M.Lord. Add to this LCH's poor-girl-with-a-heart-of-gold, and Keiko's version of the Japanese Giselle, and Shota looking like he's desperately trying to milk a lemon wedge in his mouth (btw, I added another 10 mins of watching TnK last night) - then this is truly funny funny, mildly horrifying, stuff.

We. Must. Watch. Together! The TW-newspapers (btw, all of them are on LCH's agency's payroll, I swear to God, the amount of fawning brown-nosing articles written about her over the years adds to my increased dislike of her) are crowning her TW's shining light (uhm, oh hells no, she's not even on the list, Newspapers!), and that TnK has an awesome ratings premiere (also, no, one of the lowest KimuTaku premiere's ever).

Anyways, I'm resigned to seeing her everywhere in the near future, at least until she goes the way of Michelle Reis.

But in the meantime, more Yankee-kun! Oh lord, is it just a buttercream cake of fabulousness.

@ lovenyc52

I love Ming Dao, too. He's cut short his two year long foray in Mainland to return to the TW idol drama scene. Won't be surprised if we see a genuine TW MingEn drama again soon.

@ momosan

Maybe.....Must be.....and cut to ockoala rolling around the bed muffling screams of love and esctacy. KimuTaku's acting saved the last few eps, that and the goodwill built up beforehand. But the last 10 minutes were perfection, cheesy but OMG I only wished it never ended.

Since we seem to be addressing our various shows directly these days -

Dear Dong Yi,
I have tried to like you. Really I have. I've watched you in one window while working in another just because I knew haha would be glued to the set as soon as you were on. I love sagueks of all stripes. Heck, I sat through 100+ episodes of Dae Jo Yeong (why? heck if I know, it was the only saguek on AZN at the time)

You are trying to be Dae Jang Geum. You are not succeeding. You are being DJG as done by Disney....on happy pills.

The direction is static, the editing is bad. The continuity is really awful. You REALLY don't need that many comic relief sidekicks.

There is no tension. Your bad guys would have been slain by a mere glance of the evil Lady Choi, and Mishil would have eaten them for lunch...with a side of palace guard. Heck, hardly anyone has raised their voice so far.

Han Hyo Joo is doing Anne of Green Gables, not Dong Yi. And she can't fake playing the haeguem - Sul Hwa on Chuno did a better job. Ji Jin Hee is trying his best, but for the love of all you writers hold holy, the man has more of a range than jovial.

Bae Soo Bin - well, at least you are doing well in the thankless role you were given and please next time take the lead, so you can get the girl for once in your career. Either that or be evil again.

So, Dong Yi, I am sad to say that you are going forward without me. I will sit and knit while haha watches (and asks questions...again) but I'll be abandoning you for the greater hopes of Kim Suro.

I bid you farewell. ::bows respectfully:: Don't let the door hit you on the rear on your way out.

@janna
SMILE, YOU! Now that's one drama I banked, only seen the first episode of it and I quite have a fondness for LMJ. JKH, however, is a different story, nothing wrong with the actor, it's just I wished him all sorts of horrific, gruesome deaths in MiSA and I brain hemorrhage at the thought of shipping him alongside LMJ. Must get over that, must!
Oh and since you're watching FTLY and like Im Su-jung -- check this out, how's that for an OTP!? Hee hee!
http://popseoul.com/2010/04/23/pop-spot-lim-soo-jung-hangs-out-with-eva-mendes/

Another Giant discovery:
Evil dood Major Cho (Jung Bo Suk) also played Kyung-sook's father in 'Kyung-sook, Kyung-sook's Father' - assaa! (That's another drama I banked and need to watch soon.) And is pretty much touted as a strong actor, no wonder it was instant love when I saw him. I wonder who plays his 'Doc' version in the future though? Hmm...

@eiko
Dude, bother away...
And about this Wife's Back drama --- stay far, far, FAR away from it! The title alone scares the bejeez outta me.

Ah, momosan. I thought I was harshing on Dong Yi but you just talked to that saguek (uhm, saguek-lite?, kindergarten-saguek?, no, Disney-saguek as you pu it sounds just about right) like it ought to be talked to. And it is beyond befuddling to consider that this is done by Lee Byung-hoon! I recall Mr. X scathingly telling him to retire and go milk a cow or something. Your gripes are exactly like my first impression a few weeks ago (at least I warned you, right?). I remember Dahee writing a review about Iljimae years ago where she says that why call yourself a saguek if you don't resember saguek's left butt cheek (thank you, Dahee, your wisdom is now ingrained in my brain). Dong Yi resembles a saguek all right, a saguek copied 5 times by a crappy 80s Xerox machine and that is what we get. What a waste of talent and resources (everything does look so pretty I grant you that).

Sageuk needs saguek ready actors, and except for BSB, the other three are just not cutting it here. Poor JJHs emperor freaks me out, his eyes smile in the most inapprpriate circumstances. But I love the Anne of Green Gables shoutout!! Woohoot, Anne + Gilbert FTW!

So I too go - next up, Kim Suro, oh yea..... Ji Sung, please bring back your transcendent performance in New Heart and not your soul deadening performance in Swallow the Sun.

@supah: Everyone had a resentment for JKH then! Now it's just a distant memory. I wanted to slap Lee Kyu Han upside the head too because I saw him in Que Sera Sera before, but that man brought the funny. All is forgiven LKH.

That picture just blew my mind!! Su-jung is still twiggy as ever (the movie with Rain is over, you can go back to eating girl) I wonder what, if anything, they were talking about!

@Giant episode 3 which I finally finished: Don't bring a pocket knife to a silenced gun fight. Check. I wish someone could do a run-down on historic buildings in Giant because I'm probably missing out on things. I don't think I said it before but I really like the music too!~

@ supah

I tolerated Smile You for a while but dropped it for a while and then just looked at the final episode. It was okay.

However.....I think your jaw is gonna drop on my next comment.....you really need to go and watch episode 13 of PP. I wandered in because I hadn't done much of anything serious today for drama fix.....I was glad I did because a lot of stuff came together in 13......of course, Yoon dropped hints to Jin but she was totally out there because her mind is still fixed on HR. I liked how he smiled a lot.

Leave Yoon outside and listen to dialogue between HR and IW.....

I'm still wondering about her father.....somebody framed IW's father....he became the scapegoat....so like I felt before....twists and turns gonna find something very interesting and surprising. This drama is a murder mystery with some romance tossed in.

MORE rant on TnK and all that LCL brown-nosing.. (I'm sorry folks, I really am traumatized by drama) and warning: if u r a fan of anything TnK, just dun vex reading anything ranted by me...ever.

the brown nosing pained me... esp when I (I bet u too twin) can totally see eg Ariel NAILING that cardboard part , bring loads of HEART + real brilliance and charm not pertaining to a meat market..and not disgrace our ethnicity w/ that lolita voice in that sexpot 35 yo bode and more so our female race. WHY need all 174cm and booblicious to be a model.. when u have Reiko aping a Giselle and KimuTaku is no 180cm K stud. Ht is such a non issue in doramaland, COME ON!

The HK press is more diplomatic, they mentioned LCL's overacting repeatedly in the same breathe it's a great intro to the J market for da bimbo.. now I dunno what label I should put on what she's doing, because overacting is still considered in the ballpark of acting, what she's doing is completely clueless, loads of effort, sweat, odd groans,flailing limbs and the desperation is frankly ugly (I'm just not a kind warm fuzzy in general).

Seriously a Kimutaku Getsuku PURE TRENDY ROMANCE! 22sth is a disppointment .. and what saddened me most is really this mark the end of the KimuTaku era. I can always count on him elevating his act w/ solid costars...not anymore. He used to be able to make love to a hockey puck, now he cant even make a sizzle w/ a blownup doll in LCL w/ rain and mud and skinship at his disposal. That smoke he had in that 'climatic' scene in all that rain and mud...before that big grab...and he light a cig all cooly? sorry allow my dirty hagged mind to grasp, 'wow that's a pretty darn early after smoke'

and to bring me to a very happy enchanting place I need this CU14 gif:
http://img143.imageshack.us/i/12737927182010051408185.gif/
*SPOILER* and it sooo helps bring that gif to magical mountains when PIE said, 'I don't freaking care....I ... only need you!' during mangrip..then hug...ahhhhhhhh
and as cheesy as it is I'm so buying that speeddial numero 1 on KH's phone w/ that MMM or mi malo machacha for his 'awful girl' EJ. ME LIKEY!!!

@eiko
NO WAY, Jo se! The brilliant drama that was PP ended for me at 10, what happened after that isn't the same drama. it's too unsettling for me to watch.
Especially this twisted, illogical romance between IW and HR. Had this been a darker themed show from the beginning I would have understood their relationship, that way it would've MEANT to be twisted from the start. Not something completely twisted/perverted masquerading as something good and pure. It just seems so out of place in this drama.
The actors are great. the story's just too f--ked up.

How do I desrcibe this:
It's like watching Spiderman, but then 3/4s into the story, Spiderman suddenly gets eaten by T-rex and NYC then becomes Jurrassic Park, with raptors and things running wild all over the place. As awesome as the acting and spectucular the dinosaur special effects may be, it's just OUT. OF. PLACE.

--- I mean... it's complete WTFness.

@Team SJ, tell me I'm not alone!

Okay...I got a different take on it because I haven't analyzed it the same way you did and I felt it came together. Of course, my take on the MHR character from the beginning has been one of total ayahh and what? and hmmmm...

I was trying to recall about WISFC and I believe I bailed after the fire...by then I was really rolling my eyeballs.

So....we can meet at the round table again...tomorrow.
