Dramabeans 5-Year Anniversary Giveaway #4

javabeans: So here we are with the last giveaway in our five-year anniversary extravaganza! Phew, I’m tired. All this organizing is exhausting. Next year Dramabeans is just gonna have to deal with a store cake and a third-rate magician.

girlfriday: Just no clowns. That’s no way to spend a birthday.

javabeans: Now I know how Santa feels. Well, maybe without the drunk crazy.

girlfriday: Maybe this is why he drinks.

javabeans: Who knew it was work giving stuff away?

girlfriday: Well I’m inherently selfish, so not me. But it WAS really cool to read everyone’s thank you’s to our hard-working contributors and guesties. Thanks for giving them so much love!

javabeans: Yes. It makes us feel better for loading them down with recaps. What, this recap factory doesn’t run on unicorn dust and fangirl dreams, you know.

girlfriday: No, it runs on the blood sweat and tears of the few willing to be paid in Dramabeans Dollars, aka Abs Photos of the Day.

javabeans: Anyway, this is our last giveaway to celebrate our fifth birthday, which means this is your last chance to enter to win a birthday giveaway prize!

girlfriday: For the last big hurrah, we’re giving away a Samsung Galaxy Tablet, so you can watch dramas, listen to kpop, and read Dramabeans wherever you go! If you end up in rehab because of it, we will disavow all knowledge of enabling your habit.

javabeans: Enter at your own peril.

And now, for our winners. Congratulations to…

  • Jules (aka snoozit), winner of a one-year premium subscription to Dramafever,
  • Missyu_who, winner of the other premium subscription to Dramafever,
  • and Carinne, winner of the iPod nano (with javabeans playlist).

Giveaway #4

Question: What do you want to see on Dramabeans in 2012? This is your chance to tell us that one thing you’ve always wanted to see on DB or what you want to see more of this year. Maybe that’s more of the same, or maybe you’ve got a wild ‘n crazy out-there idea. We are not averse to crazy. (As always, please use a valid email in the comment form. No need to tell us where you live this time.)

Prize: A 7-inch Samsung Galaxy Tablet 7.0 Plus.

Winner announced: Sunday, January 29, at 8pm, Pacific Standard Time*

*Or, 10pm in Mexico City, 11pm in NYC, 1am in Buenos Aires, 4am in London, 5am in Paris, noon in Singapore and Manila, 1pm in Seoul and Tokyo, or 3pm in Sydney and Vladivostok. Okay, you get the point. (You can refer to this handy Time and Date converter to find out what this is in your time zone.)

I would actually like to see how you both look! Although I guess that's part of the whole mystery ay ;)....ohhhh and what your names are, I will feel totally foolish if you have revealed your names already somewhere! Anyway I love DB, it has been a source of knowledge on things which even subtitles can't give. It would be awesome to have more variety re-caps other than just 1N2D. Thanks for giving us k-drama addicts our supply of crack all the time.

Happy 5th bday dramabeans!!!

Thanks javabeans and girlfriday for your quirky posts and recaps of korean dramas that we, other nationalities, only get to enjoy via your recaps... ^_^

If i ever wanted to see anything more on dramabeans, it would be more of those reality show recaps you did awhile back... ^_^

Recently, I been missing some of the non-recap and non-news pieces. Updating things like the Extended Glossary or doing posts like first-date drama (so funny and so true!) would be greatly appreciated!!

Well. I think all of the Dramabeans community would agree that you two are awesome, and basically, I'd like to see more of you! :D Only... that came out creepy... :P What I mean is, I really value your opinions, and will usually skip the recaps itself to read the comments you've made, because often you spot something which hadn't necessarily occured to me. And so I think some more javabeans/girlfriday opinion-based rants/reviews would be good, in the form of series overviews, half-time reports, maybe even character studies (?!)... you know. That shiz.

Love your humor, passion for quality...everything! Just do more podcasts because they're hilarious and it's like hanging out with friends. Plus I get to hear some pronunciation of Korean actor/actress names and I learn from that. Add all you like to explain the mysteries of Korean language and custom because these are little windows for non-Korean kdrama fans like me.

Dramabeans is great as it is, but since you're asking... :P

More korean drama and movie recaps! And perhaps some of those not-so-oldies from the past decade or so?

I would love recaps of oldies, whether it's physically possible or not... a girl can dream.
I hear sooo much about sandglass!

More movie recaps! ♥
As much as I love dramas, I enjoy watching Korean movies too. And there is plenty of good ones that I would love to read your views on them.

But seriously, the site is as good as it is and I love your recaps~

Dramabeans is AMAZING! The time and effort you put into this site really shows. However, I do wish the site had more movie reviews. Thank you for sharing your love of Korean dramas and shows with the world! :)

Wow, this is tough. I don't know if there is really anything I would change. I really enjoy the website the way it is and I love coming here and reading everything. Thanks for all your hard work. I think the thing that I appreciate the most is your consistancy in posting things. It makes me want to continue to come back and see what has been posted. Thanks for all you do!

I'd love to see more recaps (movies included), but since it takes a lot of time and efforts to do so, I can't really complain about that, what's already on DB awesome in itself ^^
Also, some more gossips would be welcomed ! I wouldn't want DB to be overflowed by them, but a bit more of them would amuse me ~
And thank you for the amazing work =)

I'm torn! I think dramabeans is pretty much wonderful the way it is, but I'm agreeing with everybody that said more movie reviews/recaps, whatever comes first.
But also, I wouldn't mind you you people talked more about the press conferences. I dunno why, but I just like so much the interview and the photos (plus, fashion doesn't hurt - minus the models 'course).

this started as a deconstruction thing, didn't it? i'd really like to hear your thoughts on a piece, from the total perspective of you guys as writers.. am i making sense? LOL ..i mean, the lighting, the music, the cinematography, the writing, the acting, the rhythm, the plot.... you try to do all that already, but for whole dramas or movies. sometimes, a scene really sticks out for you, and you take the time to let us know why it's special, and i REALLY REALLY REALLY enjoy reading these...

maybe a new feature where you pick your favorite scenes from anywhere, and really deconstruct those for us? it would be SO amazeballs to see the scene build itself from the writer's pen. :)

2 cents :)

Actually i can't really think of what this website is lacking cos it's already so good!! But maybe more drama and variety shows recaps! Just continue those witty recaps and you will have a huge fan forever and ever and ever. ^^

Again, thank you for this wonderful site and for being witty, informed ambassadors to the world of Kdrama! I'm having a mutual love affair with the emotional intensity and resonance of the dramas and the cultural insights from this site that help me make sense of it all.

I want to continue expanding my cultural and intellectual horizons, so please keep helping us (especially us non-Koreans) to understand the history and social context of the dramas we love so much.

Happy Anniversary! I'm looking forward to another great year with Dramabeans!

More of your hilarious recaps! More "ab"solutely educational photos of hot actors! More of your fantastic brand of love-infused sarcasm!

I have wished at times that ya'll would do movie recaps. And I have also wished at times that you (or a guest recapper) would recap older favorites, like samsooki did with Kim Sam Soon. But more than either of these, I've wanted to see more added to your glossary, and the occasional article about culture and the stuff us non-Koreans just don't understand.

Thanks again for such a wonderful site and the awesome stuff you write! Dramabeans is the first site I visit in the mornings, and I always check back at least two more times during each day :)

Thank you for all the recaps and news, I check DB several times a day. I would like to see more news articles, as I know recaps take a lot more time than the news , gossips, interviews etc.

Thank you!

since watching k-dramas always makes me want to die with envy from all the gorgeous clothes, how about s0me fashion posts!? hahaha. although that could be asking for too much. =) but it would be nice to read what you have to say about what our k-drama actors/actresses are wearing...

I would love to see challenges! Like, someone who is an avowed romance-hater takes on a classic romance drama-- maybe not to recap every episode, but at least to review and comment on what works and doesn't.

I'm also going to add my vote for more glossary and cultural posts, they are really super helpful for those of us without any Korean or Asian background.

Also! A million, trillion thanks to the whole Dramabeans crew for all their hard work! You make watching kdramas even more enjoyable!

Hey! I'd also like more movie and drama recaps since they're awesome, but I see how difficult especially drama recaps are, so I'd maybe like to see more on the whole-series-review section, especially for people who don't want to be too spoilered but seek for an oponion about a drama they plan to watch. The same goes for movie reviews.

i would love for dramabeans to keep doing what all their bloggers have been doing for the past 5 years... for someone who is living (and working) away from home, dramabeans has always been a source of entertainment and fun for me.. i wouldn't know what to do without this website.. it's one of the few i visit everyday..

and it would be nice if you would have a blogger who can recap the old series.. not only for me, but for all those who'd like to be oriented to the Kdramas, through the recaps, they'd know how much fun watching Kdramas and movies are...

i'd also hope that dramabeans would still be there 10, 20, even 50 years from now! kk ^__^ congratulations again on you're 5th year!! :) Fighting!

I always like listening to my favorite dramas' OST playlists. It would be awesome if Dramabeans could post the playlists of the dramas that are currently airing.

Also, when I am reading through the recaps for a past drama, I would love for there to be a button at the end of the recap that leads directly to the next episode recap. I find myself having to click through the tag of the drama in order to find the next recaps.

Other than that, keep up the good work! I freakin' love this website! Although I don't comment as much, I am constantly on Dramabeans for drama updates. :)

Haha being a biased 1n2d fan, it'd be lovely to re-visit those good old episodes from the past :) They were sooooo hilarious, I think it's a waste not to capture those golden moments! But I know you guys are busy, so it's totally okay ^^ Just keep doing what you guys have been doing, it's already awesome job! :)

P.s. Whoohoo can't wait for Lee Seung Gi's The King! That's probably the most anticipated 2012 drama for me :P

I think it would be great if there was a section for the bios of the actors or actresses you talk about. It would be great for the people who don't know them and when you show an article about them they can either see what dramas or movies they've been in.

Wow, you guys already do so much, it's amazing.

But yunno, if we could find the door to the fourth dimension, I'd suggest more movie recaps, more recaps of older dramas like DGCH, definitely more Korean culture posts (LOVE those!), and a podcast with Samsooki!

But I love Dramabeans as it is now, so cheers and you guys rock! :)

A mini k-drama written/produced/acted by the dramabeans team! I kid, I kid.

Apart from, say, k-movie recaps (which you do still feature, sometimes) and j-drama recaps (which is a ridiculous suggestion since you guys are already so busy i know i know), how about doing more of your indie music rec posts?

Also, not exactly a feature idea, but you guys should totally do a reddit-style IAmA where we ask you (mostly outlandish) questions and you guys answer 'em all :D

movie reviews would be nice. I would also love a list of actors and actresses with their faces and maybe some of their dramas... I'm getting better, but I still find it hard to figure out who's who with the Korean names.
