Hello, just wanted to say Dramabeans rock. I can't believe there's 9 dramas being recapped right now.

I'm having run reading the Dr. J recap, started watching IDID and Big... not sure if I love either one. But after the QIHM crack, I probably need something more mellow and not so obsessive so I can get other work done.

Thank you so much to all the recappers!!!

You should try A Gentleman's Dignity. It airs over the weekend!! Thus far it's breezy and filled with flawed characters.

I hated it when I started watching it....some of the male characters were d-bags. BUT, I changed my perspective on the show and whaddaya know I'm liking it.

Hello OT'ers!!

1. BigBang: Please come to Canada!! You haven't even announced us on your potential countries. Papa YG please make it happen...

Am SO jelly many of you OT'ers will be attending the NJ concert together. Will be so much fun!! T__T

2. So, Ghost! Ep 5 when the porn video is playing in the background. SJS was major LOLS. He was THIS close to cracking a smile. hahaaaa

I've gotta say his acting is leaving a LOT to be desired. In Ep 6 in the midst of the crisis I wish he'd have shown more emotions...he had the 'what?' face in the midst of the major crisis.

3. I do, I do: Didn't like it....liked it....back to ehhhhh. Watched the entire Ep 6 in less than half an hour.

4. A 'lil TK2H reunion. =D Interestingly none of the other actors made it. But, I was fine as long as my Seung-gi and HJW made it!! ahhhhhh

http://tryp96.wordpress.com/2012/06/12/12-06-12-lee-seung-gi-paparazzi-photo/

5. Luff Seung-gi SO much!! <33333333

His loony agency scheduled TEN friggin' interviews in ONE day!! If I weren't a fan before I became a fangirl after reading his interviews.

He's just LOVE!!

5. England, Fighting!! Off to watch 'em play Sweden!!

Have a fun-filled, relaxing, and safe weekend!

2. Koreans can't be seen enjoying porn. So he can't crack a smile and of course LYH has to turn totally red and awkward.

Oh, I know. Apart from what you mentioned it would've been out-of-character for SJS's character to crack a smile. It was funny to see him being close to one, though! =)

okay not smiling is awkward. it makes better sense for him to smile. even if it's the kind of thing he sees everyday- think gynec.

Although work sucked, Monday was a beautiful day!! I was squealing all by myself. heh.

I dunno if GF will be able to compress all of those interviews into one....that's a LOT of material and LSG didn't even repeat himself despite being asked by each and everyone of those publications about the ratings.

You know, I am a fan of a few actors but I do not follow them and am just interested in their works. I love them in their projects but indifferent when they're back to real life.

The thing with Seunggi is, he's like the real version of the drama hero that we adore. He's cute, charming, manly, smart, witty, funny, well-mannered, matured, etc and can render a love song for you complete with piano like the romantic hero in drama.

And his interviews, I don't know how he does it but he always manage to appear honest and open without being too revealing to his advantage. He just know the best answer to everything, well mostly. And I really respect his reason and courage for choosing TK2H and why he wants to continue doing variety to keep him humble.

I absolutely agree with everything you mentioned and then some.

His mad love for his mum, respect for his sunbaes (Ho Dong and Jae Suk), staying humble, and importance of education totally gets to me. His calculating analyses to go with K2H and that another similar character would've been career suicide were spot on. Today I read one of the translations that he signed K2H to work with the PD and HJW. It's only when he came on for the script read that he realized he had to pull out the big guns to portray LJH. I love that he's becoming a thinking actor and his reasoning behind when he ad-libbed the 'I love you' in Ep 20 and the heart-shape that he makes with his hand (pfffft, JH!!) when he presents HA the donut in Ep 5.

While he is earnest he's also quite cheeky. He's absolutely crushing on HJW. oh, you poor thing!! He wants to work with her again in, I quote LSG, a "deep love story" so that he gets more melo-scenes. Mr. King 2 Hands, we know exactly what you mean by that. lulz

This guy's just love, plain and simple!!

Happy Friday everyone!

I haven't been in OT for a while, so uhh...I don't know if anyone will remember me.

I actually started watch K-POP: Extreme Survival. It's one of those shows where you just have to turn off your brain to enjoy it, you don't really think too much. Anywayz the couple is really cute, it's an enjoyable watch :)

PS: Can't wait to marathon BIG when it's done airing! :D

Hello!! I'm mostly moved into my new place and back online:) This internet, though, is on par with dial up aol circa 2006. Soooo slooooow. Its near impossible for video to work. It does-sometimes- and when it does i just don't have the patience to let a video buffer for 30 minutes for 5 minutes of play. and i can't just let it pause to buffer for the whole episode/movie, nope it doesn't work like that. believe me i tried. History of a salaryman episode 5 is going to drive me insane... i'm looking to get different internet soon.
But it'll be hard in this rural area with no sidewalks, mentally disturbed chickens who crow starting at 3pm, and the anti-social adolescent antelope who sneaks in the yard and eats the baby pine trees.
So far the only good thing is having kitties (kitties!) and satellite tv. i haven't had anything except bunny ears for four years, so i'm just enamored with it. Iron chef! Adult swim! HBO! Commercials!

Happy Friday OT'ers!

Just woke up from doing an especially fought night shift at the hospital last night. Still feeling a bit lost since QIHM ended
Anyone have any suggestions on dramas to start? I need to start getting over Boong Do.

It was a beautiful day in NC and I slept through all of it.

I have to agree with you. Feeling a bit lost since QIHM ended. Silly but a major crush on Boong-do and the actor.

*Sigh* I have no k-drama to help me decompress after work...

I'm fairly new to watching kdramas, but within the last couple of months I've watched like 24+ of them. Right now I catch up weekly on "I Do, I Do", "Gentleman's Dignity", Ghost, and Gaskital. It's interesting to me that the dramas I like are all 2 days in a row each week- this is different than what I'm used to with American TV, where you generally have either a 1 hour per week or a half hour 5 times per week show.

Welcome to the OT, befuddled. I think 24+ dramas in just a few months make you a full fledged addict. :D There's a support group...except they like to help you with watching dramas, instead of getting you to reduce. ;) What sites do you like to use?

Hi again! I've been in a sort of drama funk lately. Nothing on tv really excites me. I like "Big" fine and that's mostly because of Gong Yoo being such a delight, but otherwise I'm not really feeling it. I was wondering if anybody has good recommendations, old or new. I've sort of combed through the drama ratings page like a gazillion times and I tried watching the first ep of "Hong Gil Dong", but it was too absurd for my liking. Basically I'm looking for something like "The Woman Who Still Wants to Marry", "Dalja's Spring", "Coffee Prince", "Dream High", etc. Basically anything that's light & high on the laughs and low on the angst or at least none of the you-killed-my-father level of angst as I realize those examples sort of all have some level of angst in them (we are in kdramaland afterall). Recommend away!

Angst-free dramas...don't have many a recommendations.

K-drama: Protect the Boss

J-dorama:
Hotaru no Hikari. Buchou, 'nuff said!! =D

Ouran High School Host Club (OHSC). Slapstick comedy at its best.

K-drama: I'm assuming you've seen the more recent Shut up Flower Boy Ban? I second Protect the Boss.

J-drama: Kimi wa Petto. It's ancient but I luuurve it. Well, you might find it too weird though.

I think someone asked for angst free recommendations on last week's OT, so you might want to go back and check.

Mmmm, I haven't watched it myself yet, but I've heard good things about 9 Ends 2 Outs, Delightful Girl Choon Hyang, and Once Upon a Time in Saengchori. I personally liked Twinkle Twinkle, but it's fairly long at 50 episodes, and somewhere in the middle-end it takes a dive for the melodramatic (but it was so good in the beginning that I was willing to suffer through it)

You may feel sick with this sentence, but I still wanna say it "Give a try for QIHM!" (in case you haven't watched it).

I don't know if you could consider it angst-free, but for an anti-angst person like me, I surprisingly loved the angst moments in QIHM. I don't know if my love for the show has made me blind, (I doubt so because I'm kind of "brain over heart" type.) so I just quote javabeans' opening for QIHM's Ep 9 recap here:

"Who knew angst could play out so sweetly?" (and beautifully?)

This drama is romantic, fresh and cute. And it also makes you laugh, in a very subtle and gentle way! I like it because it just feels so natural.

Again, if you haven't watched it, it is highly recommended ;)

HGD is not very good (I haven't watched all of the Hong sister dramas but HGD and "MY Girl" are pretty bad).

I highly recommend "He/The Man Who Can't Marry" starring Ji Jin hee - which is a remake of a J-drama.

TMWCM may very well be my favorite romcom next to "Coffee Prince."

Like CP, TMWCM is devoid of stereotypical characters and cliche subplots - the writing and acting are both very good.

Other romcoms that are a lot of fun (if maybe not perfect) - are "Best Love/The Greatest Love" (Dokko Jin may be an over-the-top character, but he is simply hilarious - along w/ kid actor), 'My Girlfriend is a Gumiho" and "My Princess."

All these romcoms have fun, smart dialogue where the relationships btwn the 2 leads are very well done.

"Coffee House" is another romcom that is above avg., but it does an an angsty side (it's like 2 separate dramas in one).

For more serious fare, the tops are "Tree with Deep Roots" and "Joseon X-Files" - both of which have SUPERB writing and acting (even tho both are "serious", they do have their moments of humor which are better done than most romcoms).

And yeah, "9 End 2 Outs" is also good - the humor there is more everyday real than outloud haha.

Hey Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me figure out the identity of a song from "The Great Catsby" drama. It is one of the main songs that plays on and off in almost every episode.

For example: playing from 1:00-2:00 in episode 15

I have tried googling the Catsby OST to try and figure it -- but none of those songs seem to be it.

Thanks!!

I am totally loving the Chaser. Angry, loving, grieving, vengeful Dad/cop + political secrets + evil chaebol CEO/landowner. Not to mention the great mansions and architecture. The houses of wealthy chaebolites are totally-jaw-dropping.

I love A Gentleman's Dignity. Patiently waiting for @orangy911 's recap. :-)

There's a lot of criticism regarding KHN's portrayal of Seo Yi Soo. I think the portrayal is realistic. Love is one of those things that will turn perfectly functional adults into 8-year-olds picking fights during recess. :-) So it is not farfetched that Kim Do Jin is picking on Seo Yi Soo like a 3rd grader trying to get attention from his crush, and not unusual to see Seo Yi Soo crying and kicking like a little girl every time she loses a fight, even though she's in her 30's and teaches Ethnics in a high school.

As to whether or not Seo Yi Soo is going to be a pushover for the entire series, we still have 13 episodes left. I'd love to see growth in Seo Yi Soo. Will keep watching and keep reading recaps.

Don't know if any OTers will be around to read this, but I'll place this post from Soompi for posterity!

See? Happy, romantic things CAN come true - from reel to real!!
:) :) :)

"Actress Yoo In Na finally confirmed her relationship with “Queen In Hyun’s Man” co-star Ji Hyun Woo. On June 18, Yoo In Na started out her radio show “Yoo In Na’s Raise the Volume” by saying, “There’s something I would like to tell on ‘Raise the Volume’ tonight.”

She seemed cautious, “I wanted to tell everyone when I’m ready, but there has been way too many guesses and assumptions about the situation.” She started explaining the beginning of her and Ji Hyun Woo’s fresh relationship, “First of all, I figured out my feelings for Ji Hyun Woo during ‘Queen In Hyun’s Man.’ But I didn’t want my real-life feelings to interfere with my character in the show. So I told Ji Hyun Woo that I would like to wait it out until the drama is over, and he waited.”

She continued, “And that big thing (Ji Hyun Woo’s public love confession) happened. Ji Hyun Woo told me that he’s never been greedy or needy in his life, not even to his own mother. But for the first time, he wanted this so badly and he did not want to lose me. All of his words seemed very sincere and I was so thankful. I knew this would affect both of our careers, so I wanted to be cautious and I was maybe a little confused, too. I wondered, ‘Do I deserve this?’ Without any certainties, everything would get so hard in terms of my career, life, and everything. So I thought about it deep and hard for the past ten days and reached the conclusion. We decided to just focus on our own feelings. I called him two days ago to meet up. We took a long walk at a park and I told him ‘Since ‘Queen In Hyun’s Man’ is over, let’s do ‘Yoo In Na’s Man’ now.”

Yoo In Na’s final confirmation of her relationship with Ji Hyun Woo came after almost two weeks since Ji Hyun Woo surprised everyone with his love confession at “Queen In Hyun’s Man” fan event. He stated, “I truly love Yoo In Na.” Since the two seemed to have a great chemistry all throughout filming “Queen In Hyun’s Man,” people started guessing the nature of their relationship and many rumors started. Neither parties released any official follow-up statements and Ji Hyun Woo’s confession seemed to be just a happening. However on June 18, paparazzi shots of Yoo In Na and Ji Hyun Woo holding hands and looking like a couple were released. Right after the release of these photos, Yoo In Na’s agency YG Entertainment announced, “Yoo In Na will talk about it on her radio show.”
