W–Two Worlds: Episode 4

This show blows my miiiiiiiiiiiind. Every new episode blows it up, puts the pieces back together, and then blows it up all over again. Just when I thought I had gotten a handle on the rules of the two universes and the way the story would go, our heroine does something to change the hero’s narrative, and the domino effect on his world, her world, and our story is a game-changer.

It feels pretty great to be this excited about a show again, and to feel like I can put my trust in the writer and enjoy every twist and turn with excitement instead of fear. I’m happy that the ratings for W climbed this week too (both episodes came in at 12.9%, bringing the show into first place), just so that the producers get some recognition for this awesome world that they’re building.

EPISODE 4 RECAP

The detour before Kang Chul’s business trip turns out to be a meeting with Ajusshi, who finally gets his manhwa introduction: His name is Sohn Hyun-seok, and he’s Chul’s dad’s best friend, who now runs that crime investigation TV show that Chul bought the broadcast station for.

Ajusshi is busy surveying trucks at a container terminal in Busan, and tells Chul that no amount of searching has turned up the random truck of doom from his sudden attack in the street. More than anything, Ajusshi is concerned about Chul hiding Yeon-joo from the police, and says he saw the video of them in that clothing store.

Chul realizes that Ajusshi heard about all this from So-hee, and Ajusshi chides him for not recognizing how great So-hee is. He says that everyone’s just waiting for Chul and So-hee to marry, and wonders what his relationship is to this mysterious Oh Yeon-joo. Of course Chul just smiles without explaining a thing.

Ajusshi updates him on the nurse who tried to poison him in the hospital, and says that she had no motive and nothing adds up about her—no matter how much the detectives grill her, she can’t remember why she switched the meds. Chul isn’t surprised, and says that everything that’s happening to him lately is out of the blue and without context.

Chul says that the recent attacks were all like that, even the night he got stabbed. We see it in flashback as he explains that he got a call from someone saying they had information about his family’s killer, but he can’t recall who it was or why he believed it. He also doesn’t know why he left his bodyguards at home when he was going to a dangerous meeting.

He stood there on the rooftop unprotected, just waiting, when the hooded killer just walked up right up to him and stabbed him. Chul tried to fight him off, but he got stabbed over and over again, until he collapsed to the ground in a bloody heap.

In the present, Chul says he has no memory of why he exposed himself like that, and let the attack happen to him so easily. The truck, the nurse, his own actions on the roof—they don’t make sense, because murder should have motive and a culprit, but all he has is a series of inexplicable incidents. He says it’s like ten years ago when his family was gunned down, for no apparent reason.

He argues that they should’ve found a lead by now, given that their criminal investigation TV show is really an excuse to hire the country’s best and use them as a personal investigation unit. He says that they’ve solved every other case, unintentionally earning him national hero status as a result, but they still have no leads on his family’s killer. Well that was a clunky bit of exposition (I hate it when characters exposit to the only other person who already knows this information, but whatever).

Chul doesn’t know how to make it add up, and says that lately, he’s even had the thought that maybe the killer lives in a different dimension. Ajusshi: “Are you saying it’s an alien?” Ha, that’s your go-to guess? Chul laughs and says sure, maybe, though they look like regular people—like Oh Yeon-joo.

Chul explains that Yeon-joo seems to know everything about him, including personal secrets he’s never shared with anyone. It’s as if she’s looking down on him from the heavens, he muses, but the good news is that she has good intentions toward him and wants to save him. The thing he doesn’t know is why.

It’s his theory that the killer lives there too, wherever Yeon-joo is from, and when Ajusshi looks at him like he’s a few marbles short, Chul says that he’d think differently if he saw a woman get shot through the heart and live. What, you DID shoot her in the heart?! Boy, you’d better have a good reason for knowing she’d be invincible.

What Chul does know for sure is that Yeon-joo is the key to his life—the only person that’ll open the secret door.

Yeon-joo gets a shock of her own when Chul’s staff arrives with mountains of designer clothes, purses, shoes, and makeup for her to choose from. She gasps and wonders how much all of this stuff cost, and darts around awkwardly when an attendant tries to help her zip up a dress and put on makeup.

Yeon-joo insists that she’s more comfortable doing this on her own, and the attendant just offers the helpful tip that Chul likes feminine styles. Yeon-joo gives her this hilarious face and asks, “And why do I need to set my style to his taste?” Is what I’m sayin’!

The attendant just thought she’d want to, since she’s Chul’s fiancée, and that word brings Yeon-joo to a grinding halt. Apparently he told his staff they were engaged, and Yeon-joo just nods awkwardly that it’s true. Hee.

Yeon-joo looks at herself in the mirror and wonders why things keep flowing this way: “W is an action-hero story. Why does it keep acting like a romance drama?” She presses a hand to her cheek and sighs that it’s making her heart flutter.

When Chul calls, she tries to sound extra calm and collected on the phone, but the second she hears his voice, she thinks, “Even the sound of his voice makes my heart drop!” She manages to sound breezy as she asks why she suddenly became his fiancée, and he says he needed to tell his staff something that wasn’t she’s my prisoner. Yeah, good call.

He apologizes and asks if it made her feel bad, and she totally tosses her hair as she says, “No…” He asks oh-so-subtly if her boyfriend might get mad if he found out, and she says she doesn’t have one. He wonders why, and she says defensively that not everyone needs to have a boyfriend.

He means that she’s got a lot of appeal and he’s surprised that she isn’t in a relationship, and she scoffs, reminding him of the dogs-and-cows-are-pretty comment he made about her. He chuckles and says she might not be pretty, but he does think she has “a crazy sort of appeal.”

The silence makes him wonder if she’s mad and he says he was joking, but she rolls her eyes and says she is crazy, for getting fluttery at a comment like that. She grumps that he seems too cheerful for someone keeping her captive, and he points out that she can go home whenever she feels like telling him the truth.

He says goodnight, and just before hanging up, Yeon-joo blurts, “I love you!” Pff. She waits for some kind of reaction, but Chul just smiles and reminds her that it won’t work on him. But then he does this lip-bitey thing that makes me think differently…

They hang up and Yeon-joo head-desks away her embarrassment, while Chul looks at his phone and says aloud, “If I hear it one more time, I might be shaken.” Omo! Yeon-joo counts how many days she’s been here and worries that she’s already getting used to this world.

Meanwhile, So-hee contemplates something for a while before heading into the penthouse. She finds Yeon-joo wandering around looking bored and suggests they get some wine in the restaurant bar.

Something feels off about it though—So-hee insists to the bodyguard that it’s safe, and suddenly remembers something she forgot, sending Yeon-joo to the table ahead of her. And then her bodyguard gets called away, leaving Yeon-joo there alone.

Yeon-joo sighs wistfully and enjoys the view, figuring that she won’t get to come to places like this very often. The waiter comes by with menus, and ack, it happens to be that waiter who helped her save Kang Chul on the roof the first time she was here. He recognizes her instantly, and it’s only then that Yeon-joo realizes this is the same hotel.

She makes some awkward excuses and the waiter runs to tell his manager about her, and when he points out the table, she’s already gone. Yeon-joo runs through the kitchen and calls Chul, who answers with a smile and asks what other confession she’s going to make. But she says she’s about to be captured by the police, and that So-hee turned her over.

Chul hurriedly calls his bodyguard, who was under the impression that So-hee’s orders were from Kang Chul. After being straightened out and ordered to help Yeon-joo, the bodyguard finds her and unlocks a random room with a master key to get her out of sight.

But he’s a few seconds too late, because as she runs to the open door, she’s spotted by the cops. She tries to run but knows she’s about to get caught, so she does the only thing she can do to protect Kang Chul—she slides the phone he gave her into the room where the bodyguard is waiting, just seconds before she’s arrested and taken away. The bodyguard tells Chul the bad news, and he deflates. His plane takes off again the moment it lands.

So-hee tells the bodyguard that she’ll take responsibility for lying to him, and takes a call from the detective on Yeon-joo’s case, acting surprised that the suspect was caught.

Yeon-joo’s arrest is all over the evening news and the report shows her being led inside the precinct in handcuffs, looking scared. The detective interrogates her but all she can offer is her name, and she can’t answer any of his other questions about her national ID number, her address, or anything else.

Yeon-joo sits crouched in the corner of a cell that evening, and she perks up with relief to see So-hee approach. But So-hee admits to turning her in and says that this was the best she could do in this situation, because Kang Chul can’t continue to be living with a suspect in his attempted murder.

So-hee promises her all the best lawyers and anything else she can do to help Yeon-joo clear her name, if she just cooperates with the investigation and lets them confirm her identity. But all Yeon-joo can say is, “Even if I wanted to reveal it, I have no identity to reveal!” So-hee asks skeptically who doesn’t have an identity in this world, but Yeon-joo swears that she doesn’t.

The interrogation only worsens the longer it goes on. The detective becomes increasingly desperate and frustrated, while Yeon-joo continues her silence, growing wearier by the minute.

Eventually they give up trying to get answers out of her, and she’s transported to the penitentiary. Dammit all, can’t Su-bong draw her an escape tunnel or something? Come on, scenery artist! Your noona’s in trouble!

Kang Chul finally returns from his trip and is met with a crowd of reporters at the airport. He smiles and says in a upbeat voice that he doesn’t believe Oh Yeon-joo to be in league with the killer, and winks at the female reporter right in front of him with a friendly warning not to believe everything she hears.

In the car Chul is less jovial, and when Do-yoon mentions that So-hee keeps calling him because Chul won’t answer her calls, he decides to have it out with her. Chul says he’s going straight to the prison to see Yeon-joo, and So-hee defends her decision, saying that the lawyers are trying, but Yeon-joo isn’t testifying to anything.

Chul says that Yeon-joo can’t testify, and that’s why he was protecting her. So-hee argues that the answer is already obvious if Yeon-joo can’t reveal a logical explanation for her actions—it means she’s guilty.

But Chul says that’s the kind of flawed reasoning that led to him almost ending his life—people just assumed that he killed his family because the facts they saw on the surface supported their idea, and he became a murderer.

He says that people always see the phenomenon on the surface, and not the underlying context for why it’s happening—and they mistake that for common sense. Chul argues that the last thing Yeon-joo did was toss the phone he gave her, in an effort to protect him. For him, it’s not identity that’s important, but reading a person’s true motivation.

He tells So-hee: “I started this business because I wanted to help other people who were victims of common sense like me. But you created yet another victim. That means you don’t have the right to be my assistant. Just remain as my friend. You’re fired.” Ouch. I’m on his side, but that’s gotta hurt. Both So-hee and Do-yoon look shocked, but can’t say a thing.

Yeon-joo gets called out of her cell, and is led to a visitor’s booth where Kang Chul is waiting for her. She looks happy to see him, and he smiles at her sweetly. He apologizes for the delay—despite turning around as soon as they landed, it still took too long.

He asks how she’s holding up, and she says it’s hot in here. Chul remembers his time in prison and says that summer is the hardest. Yeon-joo looks like she’s about to burst into tears, and at first when he asks if it’s hard on her, she shakes her head no.

But then the dam bursts, and along with her tears, she admits that she’s having a hard time. She’s just an average person, she cries, and this is stuff that only happens in movies. He says that innocent people sometimes find themselves thrown into prison one day, with no understanding of how they got there.

He describes the torturous process that she’ll undergo as they attempt to break her and weaken her resolve, interrogating her relentlessly for so long that it’ll be difficult for her to ever return to an ordinary life as a normal citizen again. Chul says that he doesn’t have a means to help clear her name, but he does have a solution: She can tell him truthfully where she’s from, and disappear from here.

Yeon-joo points out that it’ll cause a frenzy here if she vanishes, but he says he’ll deal with the mess since this is his world. She says with tears in her eyes that she can’t tell him because it’ll make him unhappy, and he says with a rueful smile, “I don’t think I’m enormously happy now. I can’t sleep because I never know when I’ll die. You know that.”

He asks if she’s really okay to be trapped here the rest of her life, and she cries no. He says they don’t have much time, and asks her where she’s from. Yeon-joo answers hesitantly that it’s Seoul, and he understands that it’s a different Seoul—she confirms that she lives “there,” and he lives “here.”

He asks how she knows everything about him, and Yeon-joo can’t bring herself to answer that. She wipes away her tears and jokes that a nude show would be better than this. He laughs and says that won’t work on him, and prods her again to answer.

Yeon-joo: “You’re going to regret it.” Chul: “I won’t.” He asks again what world she comes from. After a long pause, she finally says the words: “Inside a manhwa.” EEP. She said it!

He thinks she’s answering his latest question and saying that she came from inside a manhwa, but she clarifies: “No. Here. This… is inside a manhwa.” Ohmygod. Are there brains exploding everywhere? I can’t look!

Kang Chul is frozen in shock, and Yeon-joo continues that this world is inside a manhwa that she reads: “And you’re the main character of that manhwa.” As her words start to sink in, Yeon-joo spots the “To be continued” chyron being written in the corner.

This time she vanishes right before his eyes, and she reappears in her own world at the bus stop where she’d fainted, dressed in her prison jumpsuit. Well that’s not conspicuous or anything. Better than lingerie though?

Kang Chul doesn’t move at all, and just keeps staring at that empty chair like he can’t believe she really vanished. But guards come running and confirm that she’s really gone. And then… Chul looks right into the camera, like he’s peering at us through the screen. Aaaah, stop that! It’s just like he does to Dad in the manhwa!

Back in Yeon-joo’s world, Su-bong pulls up in a panic and literally trips over his feet to get to Yeon-joo. He gapes at her and asks if she really really went to prison, and while rifling through the nearest clothing store to buy her a change of clothes, he hits himself on the head and says this is crazy.

As he waits in the bathroom for her to change, he explains that not thirty minutes have passed. He drove here to pick up her purse and phone after she vanished, and parked nearby to dig through the purse and look for some sort of clue.

But then he got a call about her dad putting up another episode online, and he saw Yeon-joo appear in the manhwa again. He cringed at her nude show and yelped, “Isn’t this noona going too far because it’s just a manhwa?! Oh, oh, another kiss?!” He wondered if he was worrying for nothing, if she was perfectly happy with her wish fulfillment. But then he saw Yeon-joo going to prison in the story and freaked out, and a second later, she appeared at the bus stop in her jumpsuit.

He explains all this as he drives her back to the workshop, and asks how it’s possible that she was gone for half an hour and spent seven days in the manhwa. She’s overcome with exhaustion and says it certainly feels like seven days’ worth of tiredness.

Yeon-joo says that prison is no place to be, and that she couldn’t even survive one day in there. Su-bong asks if she really told Kang Chul everything, and she gasps, “What have I done?” He assures her that everything will be okay, but he doesn’t sound very sure of himself.

In Kang Chul’s world, the prison gets put on lockdown and Do-yoon goes looking for Chul when he overhears what’s going on. Do-yoon asks how Yeon-joo escaped, but Chul says nothing, and just continues to sit there numbly.

So-hee drinks away the pain of being newly unemployed, when Do-yoon calls and breaks up her pity party with news of the prison break. Ajusshi hears about it at the broadcast station too, and it’s all over the news that Yeon-joo escaped.

We haven’t seen this character since Kang Chul’s trial in his youth, but now Prosecutor Han is Assemblyman Han. He watches the news and says with an evil glint in his eye that he’s finally found a way to catch that psychopath murderer Kang Chul for good.

Yeon-joo goes running into Dad’s room, but he still hasn’t come home. Su-bong suggests just putting up “The end” and ending the manhwa here, because he doesn’t see how Yeon-joo could survive another trip to that world when she’s a known fugitive there.

But she asks what happens to Kang Chul then, clearly not wanting to end things here. Su-bong: “You’re worried about Kang Chul? The living people are all about to be carted off to the mental hospital and you’re worried about a manhwa character right now?!” Heh, point taken. Su-bong sits down at his computer to just end the manwha here, and deal with the fallout later.

As Chul walks out of the prison, he finally gets over the initial shock enough to think about Yeon-joo’s words. He remembers her saying before that his change in emotion was the key to her coming and going because he was the main character, that she could see how he’d be in trouble when she was outside this world, and that she was rooting for his happy ending because she was his fan.

It starts to come together in a way that he can’t ignore, and Chul is so lost in thought that he doesn’t notice Do-yoon nudging him to take a call from Ajusshi. Chul needn’t explain anything to Ajusshi, who’s already guessed that if what Chul said earlier was true, Yeon-joo disappeared into another dimension.

Ajusshi is worried that Assemblyman Han has been waiting for an opportunity like this to nab Kang Chul, but Chul says that Assemblyman Han is nothing compared to this: “The reason I exist—that’s the real problem.”

Chul looks like he’s holding back tears, and Ajusshi asks what Yeon-joo told him. Chul says it was crazy nonsense, and that he was right about her at the outset—she’s just a crazy woman: “She spouted unbelievable nonsense…”

Ajusshi asks why he’s concerned about it then, and Chul admits that her crazy nonsense explains everything that he previously couldn’t explain about his life, and everything that had no context now makes sense.

Chul says it’s an explanation that never once entered his mind, and hesitates again and again before finally saying out loud: “This world… That this world… is all fake. It’s a completely fabricated world.” The moment he says the words, the prison guards in front of him all suddenly freeze mid-stride.

OH. MY. GOD. Is this his Matrix moment?

Kang Chul slowly lowers the phone from his ear and stares at the frozen officers. He whirls around to look at Do-yoon, who’s also standing there like a statue. Chul tries to speak to him, even shake him awake… but Do-yoon remains suspended in time.

At the same time in Yeon-joo’s world, Su-bong erases the “To be continued” from the webtoon’s last frame, and says he’s going to put up a notice that they’re ending the series due to personal reasons. He figures they’ll get a gazillion anti-fans, but they have to do it.

Yeon-joo clearly doesn’t want to, and can’t even watch as Su-bong does the deed. But as soon as he starts typing the message, the webtoon image disappears and his screen goes white.

Kang Chul marches down the corridor, shaking nervously as he walks past more and more frozen officers. He reaches the common area full of visitors, and every one of them is suspended in mid-motion as well. It’s like time just stopped.

Chul collapses to the floor, breathing hard. He stares at his phone, and we cut to Ajusshi at the station, also frozen. So are So-hee and the rest of his staff at the hotel. He’s all alone.

As Chul starts to panic, Yeon-joo narrates: “The moment the main character recognized the fiction, the world inside the manhwa stopped. Only Kang Chul was the lone survivor in a world where time had been suspended—like a punishment brought down on the one who was self-aware.”

Su-bong runs around trying all of the computers in the workshop, but it’s no use. Yeon-joo stands still, tears brimming in her eyes as she cries, “Something’s happened to Kang Chul! Because of me! Something bad has happened because of me! What do I do?”

She bursts into tears, and at that moment, Kang Chul notices something changing in his world. He turns to look down the hallway, and sees an outline of a frame—like the outside edge of a webtoon frame—being rendered out of thin air.

He walks over to it, and the space inside the frame fills with a glassy, liquid pool of light. As Chul stands in front of it, the camera swivels around to the other side, and we see Kang Chul’s image change—outside the frame he’s real, and inside the frame he’s a manhwa drawing. Okay, that’s cool.

Chul slowly reaches out a hand and dips his fingers into the glassy light, and the sensation triggers a memory. He flashes back to bleeding to death on that rooftop, when a similar frame had been rendered next to him. He’d reached into it… and of course we’ve already seen the other side, when a hand had reached out and pulled Yeon-joo into his world.

Now sure that this is the portal into Yeon-joo’s world, Kang Chul makes a decision and stops to pull a gun from an officer’s holster. Determination sets into his face and he walks right into the light, without hesitation.

He comes out on the other side, Terminator-style (but with clothes! Get your mind out of the gutter!) and rises to his feet. He’s on a modest rooftop, and the colors are noticeably less saturated and gleaming in this world.

He looks out over the city and walks away, and we see Dad’s cracked monitor nearby on the roof, sitting among a collection of random junk. The screen flashes with that liquid light, and then goes black as rain starts to come down.

Down in the alley below, Kang Chul walks through the pouring rain, in an echo of the first time he overcame his creator and was reborn on that bridge.

COMMENTS

Whoa. This show moves so fast I can hardly believe it, even as it’s happening in front of me. It’s so thrilling to get invested in a drama that’s building an intricate world and unraveling it at the same time—as soon as we learn the rules, something happens to break down what we know and throw us into a whole new game where we have to start over.

It’s not only that the writing is brilliant (even though that’s mostly it), but there’s a nice synergy between the writing and directing that brings the ideas to life in vivid ways. Each world is styled differently, with Yeon-joo’s world in realistic, muted tones and Kang Chul’s world in bright, saturated colors with glamour lighting following everyone around wherever they go, making them really feel like different dimensions, and not because we’re told they are. And the coolest part is the in-between, where we see manhwa shift into live-action, and vice versa, as Kang Chul steps outside his world for the first time.

It’s really a drama where the visuals matter greatly and could ruin a great premise, and instead it sucks us into this story with trust that every frame is intentional and meaningful. That’s the kind of drama I want to be a geeky fan about, because there’s a payoff for the hours (days, weeks…) that you pour into watching, re-watching, and dissecting it in loving, gory detail.

I cannot wait to see what happens now that Kang Chul has stepped into Yeon-joo’s world. He operates by a totally different code, one where it’s apparently okay to shoot a woman in the heart, but not testify on her behalf to get her out of prison. I’m sure it was an impossible situation, what with her complete lack of registered personhood in his world, but come on—he was totally laying it on thick in prison, trying to convince her that it would be torturous in there and all she’d need to do is answer the question he’s been dying for her to answer. I don’t blame him, since it’s shrewd and it’s not at all a lie that she would suffer all the things he said. (And I do appreciate their moment of connection when he identifies with her as a victim of that kind of witch-hunt.) We just know that his motivations are driven by his curiosity to know the truth about himself over everything else.

It’s definitely Kang Chul’s relentless curiosity that’s done him in—the desire for self-awareness is his fatal flaw. It’s a metaphor as old as time—the schism between god and man is always tied to self-awareness, and there’s no un-knowing the separation between creator and creation once it’s out there. In Chul’s case it’s that his entire world is a fictional construct, and that’s doubly earth-shattering because his fictional world literally revolves around him. So by acknowledging the fiction, he’s actually broken it entirely. There’s just no such thing as taking the red pill and then staying inside the Matrix—that’s the oxymoron of self-awareness that can never be undone. So by the time he was asking, Who? Why? What is the reason for my existence? he’d already begun breaking down the barrier between the two worlds.

The thing is, in this case Kang Chul has to find a way back to his world in order to complete his narrative—I feel like that’s the journey being put forth, so he can’t just become aware and live in the real world and be a regular guy. Maybe when he returns he’ll have the same outsider’s view that Yeon-joo has in his world, where the edges of the fiction are always visible to her (like “To be continued,” for example).

There are still so many questions, because the portal between dimensions seems tied to Yeon-joo and her feelings for Kang Chul (if she was desperate for his survival both times that the frame appeared in front of him?), but how did he know she’d be the key, and that there even was a secret door to anywhere that she’d unlock? Will he have different abilities and feelings in this dimension? How will complete free will change his character, and his feelings for Yeon-joo? I can’t wait to find out. I just hope he’s not going to try shooting her again in the world where she’s not invincible! Don’t mix those up!

I guess it's no one since Dad haven't decide on who is the killer yet and he just use the hooded-man as a tool to kill Kang Chul now.

What if the hooded faceless guy is KC evil side? Weird things DO happen in manga world tho..

Whaaaaaaaaaat if KC is actually a person who has split personality?

Dun dun dun..

Okay, I don't want to go anywhere split personality things (its just like opening a nearly healed wound, yes talking bout you Hajina)

Ooh, that is a very interesting theory indeed! But then that wouldn't explain who tried stabbing him, calling that nurse or that fight in the penthouse.

I have a bad feeling that it was him who really killed his family. Why I think so is because of KC's convo with ajusshi about doing something and not remembering how and why (same with the nurse who was about to kill him with potassium). That's just my hunch. I could be totally wrong. This writer debunks some of our theories and unveils more headache-inducing plot developments, and so I love her even more. :)

i feel that way too! plus, the assembly man seems hellbent on him being the actual murderer... and some part of me thinks it is. i mean, it is manhwa world right?

@Min : yes that's possible to happen since once again Dad hasn't decide yet.
btw, if you want something good (in my opinion) on split personality you might try Kill Me Heal Me (if you haven't).

Absolutely love the synergy between the storytelling and directing in this drama. I barely notice the time passing by when watching this drama--it's just so captivating and enthralling. I especially love the chemistry between the two lead actors--there are so many cute, genuine, and touching moments between them. I definitely feel a deep connection starting to build quietly but steadily between these two! I can't wait to see how their relationship will sway, bend, and grow as the story progresses further. I hope (and am confident) that this drama will continue to be as fast-paced and push the boundaries of my kdrama viewing experience! Glad this show is getting the recognition it deserves. I'm so impressed. Can't wait for next week.

So mind-bendingly brilliant!!!

1 QUESTION though: Does this mean that the webtoon audience is seeing the whole meta-reveal of KC being a manhwa character gaining self-awareness??

How does that work then? If I ever read a book where the protagonist realises "hey I'm only a character in a book", it'd totally twist my mind.

It is the meta'est of the metas!!!

they are aware

I actually thought about this too, and it is certainly going to be extremely shocking to everyone of Yeon Joo's world.

Also, the manhwa is going to stop for the duration of the time that Kang Chul is in the real world...

I think Kang Chul is going to have the hardest time though. Imagine seeing yourself as a manga character, flipping through the pages and seeing your entire life's story there, but unreal.

If I was a "W" manhwa reader, I would just go "hmm the webtoon artist is messing with our minds and going meta, so smart", BUT I would never guess in my wildest dreams that it'd actually be playing out in reality!

Yup but Kang Chul definitely has it hardest, I wonder if people who bump into him in the real world will realise that he looks like the webtoon protagonist!

Based on the comic panels we have seen on phone and computer screens, the webtoon censors itself - taking out the meta.

What we saw of episode 3 and 4: Flashing and kiss, So-Hees betrayal, Yeon-Joo walking through the prison and sitting in a cell, conversation with KC - but we do not see any of the fourth-wall-breaking, only him sitting there dumb-founded.

I believe the webtoon avoids anything that would finish the webtoon. [that sounds... weird]

"the webtoon censors itself" THAT gave me goosebumps. I'm creeped out in the best way! I was wondering about that too because it'll be weird for the readers. It kinda makes sense if they take out the meta and at the same time, it doesn't. My main question is, how is it possible that the manhwa/KC has a free will?! Exciting!

Thanks for the recap, GF!!

This show is always a roller coaster of emotions!! It just keeps getting better and better. Really intriguing to see KC investigating all the clues, such as the truck that ran him down. It's really cool how he immediately believes there is another world/dimension quite readily to explain all the illogical occurrences.

I love how KC recognized YJ's intentions up till the moment she was about to be arrested. That arrest really resonated with his own experiences and hits so close to home. So, I'm glad to see him putting SH in her place and so frustrated/upset that she did what she did despite how much he had tried to protect YJ. In that moment, I felt that SH failed as an employee and a friend. So, it's best to separate the professional and personal relationship.

Even though I loved YJ and KC's interactions and banter earlier on in this ep (*squeals at the "I love you" almost moving him), that prison visitation scene was the most memorable for me. I love how OYJ will protect KC at all costs though she couldn't help but reveal the truth in the end as he kept pressing for answers. And though he was too shocked to think straight initially, it actually made sense to him afterwards.

The W world coming to a standstill... Wow, so that's what happens when the main character comes to realize the truth. The last scene of KC finally crossing to the real world was anticipated and it's super awesome that it already happened at the end of ep. 4. And I love how he recalls pulling YJ into his world through the screen, all the more confirming that her words are true. Can't wait till next week!! This series is the highlight of my week right now!! Bravo to the cast and crew!! ^^b

I'm just glad he got to cross over right away!

When Yeon-joo was narrating "The world stopped except for Kang-chul, as if it was his punishment for knowing the truth" I imagined Kang-chul would be stuck there for weeks or even months going crazy in a world that's frozen in time before Yeon-joo goes back to save him.

I had that image too! Suddenly I found myself lighting incense sticks and rubbing my hands together "please no, please no, he's already been to prison, please no!" It would've made for a great webtoon scene though--alone in a frozen world, sitting next to his frozen hyung, drinking. Crying. Drinking some more. And then the door opens--and she steps through.

I'm expecting something like this to happen, based on QIHM and Nine. This writer gives Serious Consequences to her characters that mess with time/dimensions to further their personal goals.

Or maybe Yeon-joo will keep being sucked inside the manhwa and slowly become the main character. She'll start acting less of a person and more of a character with no awareness of the outside world?

(Maybe I'm just throwing random tragic plot points here so Kang-chul will get mad for making him suffer and he'll come out of my screen too? A girl can dream!)

It's probably not the last time he'll be in the W world, so this might just happen later!! XD

Haha... Being stuck there for days or weeks or months would've been torture fof KC!! So, I'm really glad they're moving the plot right along and giving KC the portal to the real world. I wanna see his reactions and the confusion between familiarity (since comic world was created based on research in the real world) and strangeness (cuz his world was fake after all and this is the real deal--losing all possessions and no longer the center of attention).

I'm not hopeful that the writer will explain the hows and whys of dimensional travel and Kang Chul's ability to go against his creator. She never did explain it in Nine and Queen Inhyun's Man, but at least there was some sort of mystical device. That was explanation enough (sort of) because the devices were mysterious enough on their own to explain it away as vaguely magic. This one though, appears to be just some vague love thing or sheer force of will. It feels so cheesy now I wish they'll bring it up somehow in a later episode.

God, that's like the biggest identity crisis that has been explored in a drama. It sucks being Kang Chul at this point.

But then, I wonder if those unexplained incident in the webtoon all happened because Dad defy his own story logic for his creation and it prompted his main character to rebel against it. Now, I can think of a few drama characters that may want to take the same approach as Kang Chul...

Amazeballs. Episode 4 explained a lot of those missing bits and pieces. We got to see how book 5 was the turning point for both Chul and the dad. We know the incident was related to the dad's feeling of abandonment which he showcases by trying to end the story with its main character getting killed off. Then we paid witness to how things started to change from the original plot to the revision to Chul's determination to survive and thrive in the W world. I loved how the writers went back to the roots of some important events in Chul's life that made it sensible for us viewers to put those pieces together. An aha moment indeed!
Then we get those priceless crazy antics from yeon joo and this episode had a truck load of them. Like saying ILY to a guy was that easy!! But butterflies and rainbows, omgaaad the lower lip bite from Chul just made it more realistic. Like hell imma ship this two forever!!
"Say that one more time and I might just be shaken." yeah, we too were shaken to the core. We swoon. Laaav it.
I give props to so hee for trying to make sense out of all the nonsense. She did it out of her own understanding, a callous move but you can't blame the girl for not seeing the bigger picture. I love how she's being transitioned into a baddie but not into a complete psycho chic.
The way this show is moving in terms of its storyline is impressice. For a moment, I thought there'd be breaks in some episodes where a storyline will be dragged just to kill time. But nope. No time wasted. It was one killer scene after another. Like literally had me at the edge of my seat. So kudos to the writers and the director. Killer visuals and their attention to detail is nothing but amazing.
Now I understand a bit more about this KDrama and Inhave high hopes as to how the story will unfold. I have my guesses but I'm pretty sure yeon joo's dad plays a big role.
Oh the rooftop scene where Chul gets to see the real world is probably the rooftop of the motel where yeon joo's dad stayed since the broken thingie was there. Makes sense. What's with this show and their love for roof tops? It might be conincidental but I'm guessing not.
Love love love this show. So I hope its more than 16 episodes because I might just get a W withdrawal once it ends. Haist.

I love this drama. LJS picks the best dramas. (Except for Dr. Stranger? The north korean medical drama).

I love the fast pacing and what a surprise. Most dramas move so freaking slow and then rush at the end.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the interplay btwn drawing and live action. I loved it from first episode and was worried it would only be in first episode. I love that they are continuing with it, it makes the drama so unique.

I LOVED the Matrix moment.

Last time I felt this way was Oh My Ghostes, but the last time I felt this intense about a drama was You From Another Star. I love this drama! I wish I watch this with someone else so I can squeal IRL instead of through comments online. Yayfor everyone squealing along with me and yay for the climbing ratings. It's well deserved. The premise of Doctor Stranger is really interesting. First few episodes were epic (Man, that chase in Hungary Bourne Identity style?! But overall, LJS picks well and he never falters in his acting (so far).

Yep, Doctor Stranger may suck so bad, but you can't fault LJS's acting there, either. lol.

Also, I was laughing my ass off during that chase scene. Come on, a couple of days out of a kidney transplant and the girl lived through that and the river dunking? In her immunocompromised condition, she'd have expired from a common cold.

Yeah, the premise of Dr Stranger was really interesting! The escaping from North Korea and meeting a girl not knowing if she's a doppelganger or another agent...

Maybe LJS read the premise and signed on, then scriptwriter failed to deliver in latter eps. :|

My thoughts too. Since dramas often do live shoots, actors don't get access to the scripts for latter episodes. They sign on based on the synopsis (and other stuff they consider) and first few scripts.

I was in doubt about Chul being able to enter this world, but they made it! This is so exciting because the story can take so many routes: will he take revenge against his creator? can he stay in this world, or can the manwha world work again if he goes back?? Somehow I think that he will go back to the manwha and get a "happy ending", but can his world keep going when it is not displayed in the webtoon anymore?
So many questions!! But I already care for Kang Chul and I am scared of him not ending up well. I also cheer for the romance but mainly I need a happy ending or else I will be heartbroken.
And can I say how fantastic Lee Jong Suk is in this role? ???? He has this amazing aura and sweetness, but is also showing a shady side. It is understandable given how desperate he is and how crazy the world around him is turning. All in all, it makes his character so appealing.

Well, I'm loving it so much!! The production and story are outstanding, but the best thing is how they make my heart flutter at the idea that you can get your adored manga favorite character to flesh out and kiss you!! how good is this?! :D

Required fields are marked *

I agree with how you described KC here. He's sweet and all but there's something off with him too probably because of his thirst to know the truth about his family's death and about YJ. I think that drove him to be tenacious to an extreme.

Something has been plaguing my mind... Seong Moo has said countless times that he has to kill the monster.. The monster being Chul.. But why would he think of that? Something grave must have happened to lead Seong Moo to kill off Kang Chul in his webtoon series. Although his recent attempts in doing so were in vain, it still makes me think that there's a darker side to Kang Chul which we would have yet to witness. That will make my heart melt since I think he's been more logical and not emotional in trying to make sense out of all these incidents.
I usually don't try to get ahead of things but it does make me think that all the twists and turns in Chul's life is mirroring something darker. But hey, the silver lining is, we know they key to his life will do what it takes to save him. So that can be a turning point for Chul's character.

0

Required fields are marked *

I think the previous ep showed that at first he was fine with Kang-chul surviving the bridge.

It's when Kang-chul literally re-draws himself and even talks to SM "Where are we going?" that SM starts freaking out and wants to end it. He can see Kang-chul's desperation to find the reason and culprit of his family's murder. If I were SM, I'd be scared for my life because I'm the guy who wrote his family's death.

Required fields are marked *

Seong Moo was puzzled when he saw the very first altered scene, I don't think it caught up with him immediately as he blamed the booze for the said change. The second time the scene changed was went Chul was inside the car and it was the first time he spoke to Seong Moo --- so that's where he freaked out. But in between those changes, Seong Moo was clearly battling his own demons with his family leaving him and his decision to choose the webtoon over them.
It would be awesome if that car scene triggered the portal and got Seong Moo to cross over. There might have been something that happened that made Seong Moo to decide that Chul was no longer the character he created but he was still adamant in keeping him alive.
Fast forward to the present, episode 1 tells us how Oyj got sucked into the W universe, but what was left out was why Seong Moo went missing. It bothers me because each time he goes missing, the hooded assassin appears.
If you go back to that scene where Seong Moo beats the living crap out of that drawing pad, the scene shows Chul in the elevator. Maybe Seong Moo is the hooded assasin and teleports back to the real world (just in the nick of time) as Seong Moo but clearly you could see the frustration in his face that his plan to kill Chul backfired once again.
There's no other explanation I could think of as to how that assassin escaped. Ninja skills or not, it's puzzling how he managed to just go poof!

Required fields are marked *

I'm more interested in KC dream sequence--when he remembered drowning. In the webtoon it changed so that he caught onto the bridge as he fell, but he also dreamed of the original scene--falling into the river and drowning. How terrible would that be to experience both? Is that when he started to feel like something was odd? Did he retain his memories of the incident, or is it hazy? IDK, I dunno if we'll get answers.

@Miss Ramyun that's so cool! I hadn't noticed that's the scene he was drawing. If he is the hooded assassin, that means he knows just how alive his characters are, and I lose a lot of my empathy for him.

0

Required fields are marked *

I don't think Chul has a dark side that we don't know of. To me Seong Moo thinks of Chul as a monster simply because he has the ability to change his story. I don't find it surprising, Chul is kinda scary. He's supposed to be a character and yet he has his own free will and can change his own life within the story. Like Miss Ramyun said, the first time he saw this was when Chul saved his own life at Han river. But between that moment and nowadays a long time passed and I'm pretty sure he changed his life many times. If I was Seong Moo and saw my drawing and writing change in front of my eyes, I would also consider my creation as a monster. Especially since it lasts so long and that no matter how many times you try, you can't manage to kill him.

Can he please stay in the real world forever? As much as I will miss Do Yoon and So Hee, he belongs with Yeon Joo. Lee Jong Suk sure has an affinity for Pinocchio. "I'm a real boy!"

I love how Yeon Joo tries to protect Kang Chul from the truth. She knows him best and just doesn't want to see him hurt. So it was cruel of him to not send her back as soon as she was suffering in prison. I felt sorry for So Hee; Kang Chul firing her was harsh. Like Ajusshi said, So Hee must be upset at Yeon Joo swooping in and taking her place next to him.

I wish we got to see Su Bong react to Kang Chul shooting Yeon Joo. He is hilarious. Thanks a ton for the speedy recap, girlfriday!

This show leaves me speechless in terms of plot, it's downright unbelievable. My mind is still having a hard time keeping up with the world-building and the connection between the two worlds. The questions feel never ending, but I think Yeon Joo made a good point this time around- what does happen if they end the story? What happens to Kang Chul? Or maybe there are twists that will answer that question, because if not, then we are in for great indecision on the part of both leads as well as tears.

I have one qualm about the show however, and that is the acting. I like both actors well enough, I never really have anything horribly against them in that I'm dissing them. But I will be objective. I hope no one takes this the wrong way.

For Lee Jong Seok, he can be really good at times, but it feels like he delivers all his lines the same way no matter which character he's playing. He has a habit of always pursing his lips after he speaks, and he does this in every single character he's playing. Including that, there doesn't feel to be enough of a personality difference between his characters- they all feel the same.

For Han Hyo Joo, it feels very... forced is the only way I can say it.

I can't entirely immerse myself in their emotions a lot of times due to this.

But they're still pretty decent. And I'm absolutely loving the story, so I'm here for the long term. :)

(once again, really do not mean to offend fans of either actor. I like both just fine, and was making an analysis of the acting from what I've observed.

I have read some opinions about how KC kept her as his prisoner and then threatened her etc.

Leaving the shooting piece alone (I did not like that), rest of everything is actually not KC's fault.

She got pulled in. Yes KC puller her but he did not know who he was pulling the first time. The two times after that were nothing to with KC pulling her. She voluntarily walked into the Webtoon - I mean voluntarily may be stating a bit much but KC did not pull her those times.

Now, KC has giver her very clear escape. Shock him and she can disappear. He can not control the webtoon. He can't let her go. Where will she go? So, she can go out only if KC gets surprised. So I would not call this kidnapping at all.

I would call this - mutually beneficial cohabitation. She can tell him any time. But she does not want because she cares. How is this KC holding her prisoner.

Also all this backlash about him shooting at her...

No one must shoot anyone and there should be no guns in the worlds.
...
Now that I have stated my basic philosophy on guys, I can make some absurd comments.

A handsome guy like LJS holding a gun in a drama is sexy. And him holding it in a certain way, adds aesthetics to the scene. So, no, I am not concerned about how he was holding or he was scratching his head with it. Only someone like me can make a comment like this from US. I hate guns, but when in Fiction cool guys have guns and they point it here and here, they do loos sexy

From my perspective of W kdrama viewers, with me knowing her intentions for him, of course he should not have shot her. As a reader of W webtoon, she is a suspicious character. I know my shooting won't hurt her but her reactions will tell me something things....Yes, I will shoot her.

(if i am KC)

I mean - think about it. he has had many attempts at his lives, this female comes from another dimension, does wierd thins.... she is a stranger to him. Why would he not want to shoot?

I remember an episode of Sherlock where Benedict Cumberbatch did the exact same thing - scratched his temple with the muzzle of a loaded gun - but that happened when he was in an extreme state of agitation lol. Kang Chul does it a lot more nonchalantly.

Here's my theory: I feel like both times that KC was able to open the portal had something to do with YJ. Both times she's deeply worried about KC and doesn't want him to disappear/die. First time was when she found out that her dad decided to end him (kill him off) and second time, her bro wanted to end the manghwa for good. Both times we see her turn her back to screen and worrying. I think YJ is the key to opening the portal like KC mentioned previously. She's the key to opening a 'secret world' ...

All I can think of is that now that KC is in the real world we are probably going to get so many meta jokes. It's going to be somewhat fun to see KC trying to get used to the real world and fans of the webtoon reacting to him. In the real world he is not rich, or has connections so he will most likely have to rely on SH. Maybe even the other characters will get out eventually. I have a feeling that the assassin is already someone in the real world (that's why he was able to escape in the elevator) so it's going to be fun seeing that. Although from the preview this might actually take a whole different direction even a dark one. This writer is notorious for bringing twists in the middle of her stories and sometimes even going in an ominous direction. Thanks for the recap girlfriday :)

Oh dear--I can just see the girls flocking now. "you're him! You're HIM! Aaaaiiiee!"

*him, homeless and with a gun* "Uh... yeah. Yes. I'm Kang Chul! Now, take me to my writer!"

"... It doesn't work like that. Great cosplay, man!"

And on the twists, I'm already bracing myself. Song Jae-Jung has the worst (best?) habit of making absolutely excruciating separations for actually good reasons. Like messing with time or being trapped. Not much noble idiocy, but no less tears.

Now that would be interesting.

Damnnnn, so many comments already. Not that I'm surprised. This episode was stand-out. I was so giddy after watching it this morning that I didn't even get that upset when a Dragonite ran away from me on Pokemon Go (ok, fine, I was devastated).

What has really gotten me upset is the reality of another week of waiting!!!! Why won't my computer monitor just let me go through?! I totally want in on this crazy world.

Seriously though. I am so ecstatic to see the writer deftly exploring all the elements I wanted her to. That Kang-chul has imperceptibly grown into such a discerning and whip-smart individual as to be able to challenge the flawed logic of his own world is not only fascinating, but exactly what I wanted from this story.

I love that the unraveling of logic in the webtoon world came about partially because of the divorce and then later (after the golden period of fame) because of the horror Oh Seung Mo has been experiencing. It really makes me wonder whether he ever had more in mind for Kang-chul's story.

I do think there has to be a more distinct reason explaining why OSM lost control of KC after the bridge scene. That event had such an important influence on the growth of KC's character. I'd even go so far as to say it's the moment in his 'life' that most defines him as it ignited a drive in him that OSM couldn't account for when trying to continue his story from that point. I wrote earlier that I think Dad based KC on OYJ's ideal or even some illustrations of hers. Now I also suspect that the portal must have first appeared during that bridge scene. The door seems to appear whenever OYJ experiences moments of intense desperation and worry on Kang-chul's behalf. I think the reason she has the power to do this is because KC is originally her creation. Not only does this mean she is the key to his life, she's also the key to the character he's become.

And there has to be something else that is connecting these two together other than the care she has for him now.
And that is because, she knows he is real.

We all know she was a fan, but she was not shown to be such a intense fan who would have been personally very affected if he died. In a scene, she even said, whatever he is a manhwa character - and that she should stop worrying about it.

Right now, its clear her anguish for him is bringing him over. What about the first time on rooftop? She did not even shed a tear. How are they connected as more than a character and a fan? Something they both are not even aware of yet!

Finally caught up with this drama and hence here comes my first comment.

First and foremost, this drama reminds me of a japanese anime where a girl travels to a different time/ancient time and play her part as a priestess. That was one hot anime. I forgot the name.

And yes, expected from the drama nine's writer,he/she nails in this fantasy genre. Genius i must say. I certainly do have many questions/doubts abt many things in the story which are a little-off to me but nonetheless it is intriguing. This time, more than the acting, its the story thats making me to stay tuned. Lee jong suk is doing fine as a manhwa character. I don't know whether its han hyo joo's character or her acting that i find annoying. She seems to be air-headed for a doctor and always wide-eyed. And also, not fan of wide-eyed kisses but given the context i shall let it go.

I love as it is fast-paced and intriguing, but hope it doesn't fall to boring in the middle. I heard the drama is only 16 episodes. So i am hoping it will not.

PS: Also, lol at the writer copying "Doctors" iconic "Are you married?" line in the previous episode. Not cool MBC..Not cool.. Haha..

I heard of Frankenstein being referenced so many times on two of my favourite dramas right now (this and Beautiful Mind). Can someone briefly explain the story of Frankenstein and his creator? How does it relate to this drama? (And for watching BM how does it relate to BM too?)

I know I should Google this but I'm working at the moment haha

My knowledge of Frankenstein is kind of limited. All I just know from childhood (barely remember the story) is that Frankenstein is a mad science who likes to create weird creatures (or monsters rather) from different body parts.

Lol, All I know of Frakenstein came from that movie starring Kenneth Branagh, Helena Bonham Carter and Rober deNiro. Victor Frankenstein wanted to play God, so he animated a creature made of sewn-up body parts. The monster lived, after a fashion, but ended up killing the doctor's fiancee. Out of desperation, Frankenstein tried to revive his fiancee in a similar manner.

Somebody correct me, please.

Yep, that's right, Frankenstein is an ambitious scientist who makes it his life's goal to give life to the dead thereby playing God. He ventures out to graveyards in search for the "perfect" (dead) body parts, only when put together, it creates something ghastly, so much so, that he end up fearing his own creation. He labels his creation a "monster" and neglects his duties towards it, letting it rampage around earth causing havoc.

The creature, who is first shunned by his creator, and then the rest of mankind, naturally turns bitter. In his want of a loved one, some warmth, family and friends, the creature returns to his creator in the hope of being accepted, even to the point of promising to isolate himself from human eyes. He asks that another creature be made so that he has a companion to live out the rest of his life with. Though Frankenstein agrees to this, he destroys it even before completing it, as he finds the task far too horrifying.

It's Frankentein's fear and neglect of the creature which drives him (the creature) to seek revenge against him and his loved ones (and humanity in general).

By the end, you can't help but feel sorry for the creature who was brought into this world by a selfish and arrogant scientist who placed himself above God by forcibly taking on the powers of creation. Tragic, to say the least!

daaammmnn this drama. it's just AWE-frickin-SOME.

my theory: kang chul lives because yeon joo wants him to live. everytime he escaped from death it was because YJ worried/cried for his survival. why YJ tho, is the big question. she might be the one who created him originally, or maybe she went back to dad's while he's passed out and drew him dangling from the bridge instead of dying like her father planned

Whoa! Nearly 300 comments in a matter of hours! And thank you GF for another epic recap <3!

Most of my thoughts about this episode have already been said much more eloquently than I could so the only comment that I have, is that I believe we've only scratched the surface of Kang Chul's "fake world". Sure, this world seems to revolve around him, but how do we explain why characters other than Kang Chul, as we've seen in the past three episodes, take actions purely on their own volition, when they are away from KC, and more importantly when we as viewers know their "puppet master" aka Dad has not penned any of these plots?

For example, how was So-hee, a supposedly pure manhwa character, able to break away from her "codes" as a supporting character to follow KC's orders? KC is the main character, who is supposedly the *only* "mutant" in their world that is capable of free-thinking. But then So-hee did the unthinkable and rebelled against the de facto "god" of this world, not unlike how KC had rebelled against the original creator/god - Yeon-joo's Dad. Aside from So-hee, several other characters, like the evil assemblyman, the police, even the waiters and other staffs at the Hotel, have all been plotting and doing things on their own, without KC's knowledge! And we know for sure Dad hasn't been drawing any manhwa when these were happening!

Could KC's world not be as fake as it seems? Why else, would the writer have spent valuable onscreen time setting up these characters in KC's world, only to have him realize they were all lifeless puppets in episode FOUR?

I don't know where this story is going (that's why it's super super FUN!), but I sure know we have not seen the last of So-hee, of Do-yoon, of Ajusshi, and of course the evil assemblyman. And I seriously doubt KC will be spending the next 12 episodes manipulating these characters the way children play their barbies or dolls.

Very much looking forward to getting my mind blown countless times til the series end!

Hi Sho!!

I thought about it as well. Alternate universes, a glimpse of which Dad is writing about. And somehow both dimensions are linked and relationships already established - which could bring in motive for KC family's death.
But that does not explain how all manhwa rules operate?
The to be continued sign, the lead character's change in emotions, her disappearig, the world standing still !

And as you said, every character has free will and able to do what they want. Nothing seems to be directing them. Maybe instead of alternate universe, its a universe within a universe? Everything is real and operate as they do, until the one above dictates something else? If so, how does world stop for KC?!!

Am outright blabbering now! LOL

Hi Divyrus!

I have nooooo idea why this self-functioning alternative universe also follows rules of a manhwa world!!! Like totally clueless LOL!!! Could it be that TO US from the "real world", it is the only way we can operate in that universe??? And could it be that, KC's awareness of our world freezes time in his universe, because at the moment he is the only one, or one of the few in his world that have come to realization of our world??? Like in Matrix??? Could it be that Dad never really created KC's world, just that somehow he "saw" KC in the form of dreams or muses???

LOL I am talking like I am crazy rn, kudos to our deviously ingenious writer-nim for making us rack our brains trying to come up with all these theories, while we suffer for the long five days until the next episode!!!
