@welh: You made me laugh! Touché! But H&P can be amazing as if the pizza dough is thin, the sauce tastes like actual sub-ripened tomatoes, good cheese and not industrially produced terrible cheese is used and then the pièce de résistance , fresh pineapples: Yum! However, I have a close friend who hates pineapples with a passion so sadly I’m familiar with this prejudice against poor pineapples.

There is always this type of pizzas called Hawaiian pizza here that always puts slices of pineapple on it. Now I wonder what pineapple has to do with Hawai and why either or both of them have anything to do with pizzas. 😅

'Hawaiian' pizza with ham and pineapple is one of my favorites, but to say it's controversial would be putting it VERY mildly! It's because pineapples became a huge export crop in Hawai'i starting in the 19th C, and many Americans associate pineapples with Hawai'i and vice versa. Commercial cultivation has gone down to a tiny fraction of what it was even during my childhood there in the 1960s, so younger people and non-Americans generally might not have such a strong association.

If you ever want to start an argument in the US, no need to talk about religion or politics, just talk about what properly goes on a pizza. 😂

🤣🤣🤣 Thanks for the new info! I also think such topic is very controversial for many whose residing country has strongly been associated with the making/eating pizzas.

5

@elinor: I promise you we won’t force you to have beetroot with your burger if you don’t want it! Come over!

2

I guess I need to modify my statement above, so:

If you ever want to start an argument anywhere, just talk about pizza, or hamburgers, or Australia! 😂😂😂 (Which I would love to visit someday.)

3

If you ever want to start an argument anywhere (US Version), talk about ketchup on hot dogs:
Welcome to Chicago, Hot Dog Town, U.S.A.

Btw, I’ve seen both Korean and Hungarian pizzas with ketchup.

French pizza also involves eggs. I do not understand. At least it's not beets on hamburgers?

1

Oh God, we do that too!
Sometimes... and I stress this has maybe only happened once or twice... I have seen an "Australian pizza" with both beetroot, pineapple and egg... which is also the horrible ingredient list for the "Aussie burger".

I have been lurking in this site and I find it astonishing and also quite sad really, that to this day, after what the world has gone through and is going through, Park Shin Hye is still being "bullied" and made fun of in this website, by so-called Beanies at that. That it's meant as a subject for a joke and for "fun only" doesn't make it any less distasteful and repugnant. I see the same being done for some other actors and actresses as well. Surely, it wouldn't hurt anyone to have some kindness and sensitivity for a change.

As you can see this is just for fun, but I understand where you’re coming from so I’ll form my new opinion more politely. It’s true I find her kiss scenes the same and sensual-less in almost every drama of hers I’ve watched (because apparently, I didn’t watch all her dramas), but every time I watched her project that had a kiss or kiss scenes, I wish her kisses were more sensual and give off more vibe of a person being in love with another person whom she was kissing. As you can see, I don’t dislike her personally and really congratulated on her wedding and the coming baby, still, my opinion on her kiss scenes remain the same. It’d be nice if her next projects she turned this opinion of mine around by being sensual and the kiss/kisses feel romantic because I’d also like that for a change. Ofc, she doesn’t have to, but if that happens my opinion of hers will also change.

Thank you @dncingemma! I’d hate it if anyone thought so because that hadn’t been my intention in anyway. But for a brief moment, I wondered if I was really bullying the actress. So thanks a lot for your confirmation that I didn’t!

7

@mmmmm: Of course it wasn’t! Intent matters in such an accusation and your intent, choice of the words and how you approached it left no doubt in any reasonable readers’ mind.

5

Park Shin-hye always looks like she's being assaulted in kiss scenes. It's awful and uncomfortable.
Unfortunately you've activated the PSH Civil Defence Brigade and they often rally to defend her from faint praise or mild critiques.

I remember one thread where Mindy said something like "I thought she was good in Alive, although a bit overshadowed by Yoo Ah-in" or something similar to that and they went completely feral.
They crazy people.

4

Yup, the moment I saw that bananas response to @mmmmm I thought it was the flying monkey brigade with the canned, nonsensical personal attacks on anyone who dares to not worship their idol. So dull. I just discussed another actor on my fanwall who reacts like she's being assaulted in kiss scenes, but I guess she doesn't have the same dedicated fan base and/or social media staff to respond.

3

Hi Areumdaun,
I would say that it is refreshing that there are sites where differences of opinion can be shared and it’s safe to do so. I don't think that most people on this site intentionally go out of their way to be offensive and if we do touch on something in a way that offends we usually respond in an respectful manner. So thanks for raising your view.

We are a very mixed group representative of multiple nations, ages, gender, class etc and therefore we see the world in multiple ways and that’s why its good to hear a range of perspectives and to be mindful of how we call out the differences especially when it is something we feel strongly about.

You may not be aware of the constant bashing on certain actors and actresses on this site which are mostly done out of "fun" . As an observation, these opinions appear to be what the majority here seem to agree on. While I am all for diverse opinions and perspectives, there is a difference between making a polite statement and making fun of these artists and this is something that really needs to stop. Comments like these aren't funny anymore and is actually quite rude and offensive, to be honest. Reasonable thinking and proper conduct dictates that this behavior isn't right. Sadly, this has happened too often on this site which I thought was better and different from other platforms. I do not normally make statements like this. However, on this particular day, it all just became too much for me to just stand on the sidelines. There is nothing more I can say or do if you all wish to continue behaving this way. I've said my piece and I'll walk away.

Thanks for the context setting I have only been on here since May so I don't know about the historical issues. I agree it’s not nice to read things and feel upset by it. Free time is precious and we want to spend it doing things we like.
If you get a chance to read this I do wish you all the best whatever choice you make about whether to stay or go.

I don’t have anything to say besides seconding what Reply1988 said above. I standby my opinion regarding certain actress’s acting chops in certain scenes. It’s up to you to lurk here or elsewhere.

8

Hi Reply1988,
Thank you for your well-wishes. And I appreciate your empathy. My invisibility doesn't afford me the option of the thumbs-up button.

I understand these artists may not be to their liking. No one is censoring them from expressing their dislike. However, let me reiterate, there is a line between making civil statements and making fun of them just because the majority of the group members have the same view. For me, it does not reveal a clever sense of humor but comes across as disrespectful and rude when it is used to put down another person. And in my personal view, it is almost akin to bullying even though that may not have been the intent of the poster. Btw this view holds true for every human person and not just any specific artist. But as you can see, Park Shin Hye is a popular target of such comments.

Obviously, people in public sites come from all walks of life. As such, nasty comments and insensitive jokes that can be offensive would not foster an amiable environment. A little kindness and sensitivity can go a long way.
