Beanie level: Eunuch in drag

February, 1
My first post in 2023 and my second Love February! Still grateful to be here despite being absent for a while.

Today is a calm and quiet day in a long time. I’ve been busy (i’m trying to) these days and to have a calm day without any negative thoughts like today is like a dream. I’m grateful for today.

Love, February.

I just watched Decibel, Lee Jongsuk’s new movie, today. Things i do for my bias…
The story is pretty meh actually which i’m not surprised since there are only very few kmovies i truly like from a bunch i have watched. But Kim Raewon and Lee Jongsuk are really the spotlight of the movie. Decibel also has Lee Minki and Kim Seulgi as casts but their talents are pretty much wasted there, i hate that.
And because Lee Jongsuk is the villain here, he only showed up after 2/3 of the movie. As a fan, i’m pretty disappointed but it’s still nice to see a new side of him. I’m proud of him and he truly gave his best (and maybe because i’m biased🤣)

Currently watching 2521. I wish i was as expressive as Na Heedo when i was her age. I wish i said everything i wanted to say. I wish i had a dream that big

I think you’re already pretty cool.

None of us were that confident or expressive. Watching my daughter right now growing up makes me realize how fantastical being like that is. My daughter can express herself well, but even she doesn’t say what she wants when she wants. And when I tell her to, she says she’s not in a kdrama. 😆

How to resume watching a show you have abandoned for months?
Start watching it again from the beginning😅
Because of Shadow Detective, i have gained some courage to finish Through the Darkness. This time, for real.
Because of my mental condition, i have been unable to watch crime/mystery dramas, my go to drama genre. But with the power of Kim Namgil\’s hair and excellent casts, i\’m willing to watch TTD all over again and thank goodness, i have not exposed myself to spoilers.
I want to earn my bean. Wish me luck beanies

TTD is about the process of creating a new profession, and KNG’s struggles with his mental health because of his job. It was written and acted phenomenally, but I wouldn’t count it as a crime mystery drama at all.

I resumed watching Our Beloved Summer. I had watched the first two episodes at the beginning of this year. As I have a good memory, when I resumed it in October I started from Episode 3.

By the way, Through the Darkness is one I want to watch soon. Some people have told me it’s the best 2022 drama, in their opinion.

    2
    1

I have watched 8 episodes months ago and after watching it again from the beginning, and now episode 3, i realized i don’t have good memory cos i don’t remember anything so it’s a good decision😂

Here to join in all the accolades for THROUGH THE DARKNESS. Kim Nam-gil was outstanding playing real life profiler Kwon Il-young. (He also looked great with his hair cut in the style of the late 90s/early 2000s and wearing those polo shirts or whatever they were.) TTD is definitely one of my favorites of the year.

When TTD aired in January there was almost a month gap between episodes 6 and 7. I used that break to watch the 2021 Netflix documentary THE RAINCOAT KILLER: CHASING A PREDATOR IN KOREA which covers in depth the story lines portrayed in TTD. That was a bit of a mistake and I should have waited until TTD a finished to watch the documentary. TTD doesn’t follow the actual events precisely which started to annoy me but then I accepted how in this fictional account the event were being portrayed. In other words don’t follow my example. Watch the documentary after you finish TTD if you want to continue your education (which you might not want to).

Any beanies watching Shadow Detective? I think it\’s underrated for a crime, mystery drama. I\’m watching it live and it\’s my first crime mystery drama after so long and i absolutely loving it! Love the writting and cliffhangers. Lee Sungmin is brilliant here

Waiting for this to finish airing.

I’m watching. I like it, this week’s episodes a little less than the previous ones, but yes, Lee Sung min is great. I guess Disney+ started planning a S2 even before S1 started..

    1
    2

Ah i wish i can discuss the drama here with you without telling spoilers.
I actually prefer this week’s episodes cos they are more intense. I guess this week’s episodes are quite predictable for you?
And yes, they’re shooting for S2 now. I’m not sure how to feel about it since i think 8 episode format for this drama is perfect

      1

I knew the focus would shift to the corruption/drugs/redevelopment, but I liked when Lee Sung Min’s character was racing around trying to solve old cases. It was still good though.

I actually don’t mind a S2 in this case. It bothers me more when it happens because of high ratings, but in this case, it was planned beforehand, so I don’t have to worry about an open ending that will never be explained or a story that has nothing more to say. Plus, with 8-episode seasons, the story-telling can stay tight.

@missh Have you watched final episodes of Shadow Detective? I still have so many questions especially about the Friend

      0
      1

I finished them this morning. I was hoping S2 would cover a new case but guess not. I have no clue who the new Friend is.

        0
        2

I did suspect there are at least 2 Friend(s) but didn’t expect they don’t reveal it in this season.
Do you understand the first Friend’s motive? Cos i don’t. I have no idea why he did what he did and the drama didn’t seem to explain it

          0
          1

I knew there were two since Friend called when Ji-han was with Taek-rok, but like you, I thought they would reveal who he was working with this season.

I’m not sure. We know he needed dirt on Captain Seo and co. to stop the redevelopment. Hyun-seok wouldn’t give it to him, so he killed him and set up Taek-rok as a pawn. He chose Taek-rok because of their past interaction. It was like he was using him and punishing him at the same time for convincing him to stay a cop and for turning out to be a dirty one, not following what he preached.

            0
            0

So he wanted to stop the redevelopment? And Jinhan was pointing his finger at Taekrok, claiming that his biggest mistake is making him stay as a cop? I see… now that makes sense!

And i thought Hyunseok was his ally, from the flashback, and the one who killed Hyunseok was the Jinhan’s partner… i mean the evidence was dark and i thought i wasn’t Jinhan at first but how does that handphone got to that ahjumma when Hyunseok was already dead?

          0
          1

Yeah, he was trying to bring Chairman Jang down but his informant was killed and his son was sick, so he joined hands with him, his mission being to stop the redevelopment, or at least stop Captain Seo and the others from being the ones to profit off of it. That’s what I understood anyway.

I’m not sure. The partner may have been the one to kill him. That was all confusing.

Lee Jongsuk’s new movie is coming next month and i have no idea he is the bad guy there!
I guess i can watch this movie if i want to see Big Mouse in action

I decided to start watching The Liar and His Lover because of Lee Hyunwoo. Here is funny thing: i have known the OSTs long ago because i think they are quite popular? The OSTs are good and Joy\’s voice in particular fits the theme for this drama, bright and youthful. So i know the OST first then watch the drama now.

I\’m in ep 1 and a bit shocked to see who\’s in here: Song Kang, Jang Kiyong, Park Haesoo???

To any beanies who has watched The Liar and His Lover, i want to know your thoughts. Is it good?

Have you checked out the comments page I heard it was quite lively.

Yesss, The Liar and His Lover. They do have excellent OSTs. One of my favorites as well.

I enjoyed that drama. One of the rarest kdramas where I’m very satisfied with their endings.

Now, about Beanies thoughts. Ooohh! It’s one of the most talked about here when it was airing. So many fan wall comments too.

A mention of TLAHS deserves likes and replies.

    2

Where are the Liar ninjas? Here’s a post to “like!” Lol, you just realizing Song Kang was in this. This might have been his first role—the third “not in her galaxy” forever friend-zoned boy. I said then on the beanie wall that he’ll be the lead soon enough—and I was right. He’s so cute here. His “break up” scene is so adorable. Also, Kiyong as the drummer—adorbs. I found our during this that he actually plays drums! I really liked this show! When it aired, the recaps went insane. See for yourself how many hundreds of comments there are. Then anyone who mentioned the show got dozens of likes on their fanwalls. @sicarius probably up leveled 4-5 times just with this show. 😆

    4
    1

Lmao! I could probably actually verify that 😏🤔 I was levelling up a lot anyway cos I was so active then hehe

Any post, any mention, any comment mentioning the show or an actor from the show, especially the leads, hiding ANYWHERE, would get 20, 30, 40 likes! The sheer insanity! But now the Liar Ninjas are goooone! Or most of them have anyway. So sad. 😔😔😔

    I dropped it.

    I liked the Japanese Movie.

while the cast in the Kdrama was cute, they changed the story/characters too much… i liked the Satoh Takeru original version also.

I loved the Japanese film so I couldn’t imagine it being remade any better.

I liked it and it was really popular here. We had a lot of fun and active discussions about it back when it was airing.
Yes they were all in there as supporting characters. Lee Hyun Woo and Joy were the stars. I kinda miss LHW and hope he get to lead another drama soon.

I also watched it for Lee Hyunwoo.

If you’re watching it for Lee Hyun-woo, then at least you won’t get second lead syndrome. I’ll always mourn what could’ve happened with Lee Seo-won.

Today is Lee Jongsuk’s day!!🎂🎉🥳
2 days ago he had a fanmeeting where he talked a lot about Big Mouth (and i think this is why he hasn’t shared anything on his instagram, he saved it for fanmeeting!) and he said he almost wanted to give up for the first time in his career because of the pressure he felt. Poor bb.
Oh Euisik and Yang Kyungwon were there on his fanmeeting and it’s obvious he adores them (and because Jongsuk only invites people he likes to his fanmeeting)
And speaking of this trio, we got another content from them! Honestly i never expect we’ll get anything from Jongsuk but now ee have 3. I’m so grateful.

I\’m no longer the Noble Idiot. I\’m finally Eunuch in drag now!🥳

I decided to watch Run On because i love Siwan, and in five minutes the show already anounced what kind of story it would tell: Love stories between a nutjob, a loser, a psychopath, and a piece of trash.
Sounds great?
I hope this will be good🤞
Ah the colors in this show are so pretty

So i\’m watching One Spring Night. I dropped it after 4 episodes and then decided to pick it again just to watch the leads.
But wow… can i include this show as one of those dramas that shouldn\’t exist? There are horrible and delusional characters, the female lead cannot be clear about her stance… even the music starts to annoy me.
Am i the only one who hate this drama?

More Jongsuk content! Feels so nice to see him smiling and laughing😍🤩

I thought have sore throat & mild flu and resting will enable me to watch kdramas but so far… none. I haven\’t watch any because i feel too weak and not in mood to do it🙃🥲

Get well soon. I too was down with fever for the past two days and did not touch my phone at all as it was irritating to the eye. Even if I did not get sleep, I simply rested to conserve my energy.

      Thank you so much!
I can’t live without phone but yeah it’s day 4 and i finally use my phone properly after gaining a little bit of energy. I didn’t know we use so much energy holding our phone. My sore throat is gone and now i’m focusing to regain more energy

      Thank you Ally!
I agree. I realized that i don’t have to push myself to watch kdramas even when i have so much time. I have never lost so much energy while being sick. I learned (again and again) that it’s so important to stay healthy

This man, Lee Jongsuk, hardly ever promotes his own drama these days which is quite saddening to me, and also making me nervous, because he used to shared his excitement about his projects with fans. He’s changed now…
Thanks to this video, we got something. FINALLY! He talks about his drama, he introduces himself as Park Changho! Finally!
Thank you agency for providing this video.

I don’t really know what I want in life but I know at least one: I wish to erase Happiness from my head so I can start afresh and repeat this at least 50 times. I miss Happiness so much and I miss the time when Happiness was the one that kept me going. I still listen to the OSTs till today

Happiness was soooo good! I am a big wimp and usually can’t watch zombies at all, but it was worth it for these two! It was so satisfying, I would watch it again in a heartbeat (as long as I can look away for the zombie scenes haha).

    1
    1

I’m also someone who can’t watch zombies but zombies in Happiness were fine by me, even sometimes they make me laugh. I have rewatched Happiness twice but nothing can beat the first time. I was in awe and quite obsessed about it back then but too bad i wasn’t on Db to share my feelings when it aired.
And for me, Happiness couple is still kdramaland’s best couple

I find it funny that for Mijeong and Mr. Gu who don\’t like people and crowded places, they chose to date at a very crowded market, where human interactions can\’t be avoided.
I thought they would pick a very cold and empty place where they can only interact with robots or AI or something else😂

The news i have been waiting for is finally here🤩🤩🤩
Am i dreaming? Is this real?? I’m so happy. Dramagods, thank you!

I\’m watching MLN episode 10 now and i can\’t help but wondering \”how is the liberation club doing?\” \”Where\’s that lady? How come no one ask about liberation club\’s activity?\”😂

2

I\’ve been thinking about making my own liberation note inspired from Mijeong\’s for days. Not exact same, i want to know more about myself. I want to know what makes me so unhappy with myself.
Problems are i don\’t know how to start and i don\’t know myself that well. I\’m bad with words too. I think i\’m pretty serious and, maybe at the same time, pretty silly.

I hope you can find something or someone to help you on your quest. I know that some people use a coach or therapist who can provide them with a unique plan. Other people use assessments, books and podcasts for more general information and then develop their own plans. A lot of people have found James Clear’s book Atomic habits helpful for guiding them to make small changes to make their goals achievable.

I didn’t watch the drama so not sure if she had key areas of life she wanted to change but most people go through a time of reflection in their life. This is usually at key points like a job promotion, certain age points when people feel they are entering a new phase and maybe feel less confident because it’s unknown.

Some people find it easier to put things into words and others express themselves through creative means like music, dance or art.

I look forward to hearing what you decided to do to design your own liberation note. Good luck on your mission.

Thank you for suggestions and support, Reply! I think i’ve reached the stage where i have so many questions to myself and i do want to have lots of discussions with myself(?) if that sounds plausible.
I intend to share my note here with beanies one day. Even if it only contains few words. I hope i won’t take that long.

      1
      1

Yes it’s about getting the timing right between processing and sharing just enough to be a help to others but not too much so you feel exposed and vulnerable. Loads of people find journaling really helpful for reflecting on their life.☺️ No pressure, share only what you feel comfortable with and when you feel ready.

        0
        1

I don’t mind being vulnerable but i agree about sharing just enough to be a help to others and maybe also myself.
I do journaling too once in a while but i can’t seem to find a comfortable way to do it yet. Journalling is still hard for me. I guess i need a little push.
          I’ll try my best💪

          1
          1

Maybe you could start from here? You know that you don’t know yourself, so what are the things you want to learn about you?
You could write about those things in your diary and think of ways to find the answer.

Good luck with your journey, I hope it helps you ^^

    2
    1

      Thank you, tabong!
I occasionally write in my diary but they are mostly very random and abstract while i want my note to be arranged, at least😂
I also occasionally share my thoughts here on my fanwall. Mostly when i participated on Love, February.
Maybe i can start from reading back what i wrote in my diary and here. I hope one day i can share the result here with beanies🤞

Oh, I feel you. I have like three different notebooks where I failed to have any kind of structure and order. It’s sad. LOL

I hope it goes well! I’m here for anything you want to share ^^
