The Witch is Alive: Episode 8 (Drama Hangout)

Behold, your weekly Drama Hangout! We might not be covering this drama, but that doesn’t mean there shouldn’t be a place to talk about it, whether that’s squealing with excitement or piling on the analysis.

This thread is exclusively for this week’s episodes and anything prior, so let’s try to keep it as a place to chat about what’s aired — not spoil future plot points for unsuspecting eyes.

Good for Ma-ri, the mistress voted disagree in the divorce! But, still, with a jerk like Nak-gu, why does she want to stay married is beyond me! As for Hee-soo, her husband has never taken care of her nor protected her, and now she's very sick, she divorces him and I think she plans on just enjoying her life until she passes. And, Ji-na, why didn't she ever think of working instead of relying on the insurance money?!

The daughter coming home led to more wackiness than one could image. She is a chip off the Ma-Ri's block. Who would have thought the family and mistress would take turns blackmailing each other to get their vote on the divorce question.

I think the craziness has gotten to the breaking point. Ma-Ri’s head is also on the block as the Oracle has made her a suspect in the Death Note site. Oracle is a lot more evil than I initially thought.

Jin-A’s money arc went according to foreshadowing . . . a total mess. She never could realize that Woo Bin makes her life a disaster until after it implodes. She has to share some of the blame for being dependent on such a loser, spendthrift, no goal husband.

Hee Soo’s story gets sadder by the episode. She is not pregnant; she gets a quick divorce; and her life gets terminal. I still do not like that her husband was such a jerk and as a couple they never thought of adoption as a solution to fertility problems.

I do like that in this series, each female lead has their own major problem to deal with but her friends do not interpose themselves on it (like what happened in 39). But no matter what the three female leads do, their individual solution is probably not the best. I now get Thelma and Louise vibes as the crazy comedy goes toward dark humor.
