What a disappointed ratings week.
- My Lovely Boxer and Live Your Own Life hit the lowest rating this week due to Korean people watching 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou or even Korean people spent Chuseok holidays/vacation. I hope and pray that Live Your Own Life will soon be hit 20% range in the coming weeks. I still hope that My Lovely Boxer will likely hit the 3% range during the episode 12/final episode.
- Behind Your Touch totally failed to reach 10% and can't have a double digit. It was one of Kdramas with the non-finale highest ratings. The highest rating was from last week with episode 14 (where an episode ended with cliffhanger when Seon-woo died by a serial killer) with 9.6%.

In just two episodes, Twinkling Watermelon has almost reached its predecessor My Lovely Liar's highest ratings of 3.446%.
I feel sorry for My Lovely Boxer for falling under 1%, but at least with its finale airing next week, there's nowhere to go but up.

I thought BYT will touch the 2 digits in the final! But glad it did well in Korea with decent ratings, given its genre.
Kidnapping day is staying in its zone. Hope it continues to do well.

I thought so too. Ep 14 hit 9.6%, so I expected finale episode would be higher. I wonder if the holidays was a factor. But nevertheless, they did great!

I can’t help but wonder if these stats demonstrated that some folks ended up with @missvictrix’s “Finale Freeze” with BYT. I got my bean, but I found that they were difficult episodes to watch if you weren’t fully invested in the characters.

As for DWY, I’m not surprised that it’s where it is. Everyone is expecting a bittersweet ending at this point…so why watch. Everyone except me, of course. I just love the pain of dashed hopes, I guess.

Don’t be solipsistic. Some of us have been watching it alongside you! (In my case, whether you want it or not)!
I like the core of DWY more than you know.

I worried you might misconstrue my tone. So, we’re clear, I was joking about you being solipsistic!

As the only Beanie watching Escape of 7, I'm not surprised by its gradually increasing ratings.

The drama is a sh*tshow in the worst and the most entertaining way possible, I'm sticking with this car crash till the paramedics arrive

I never thought I'd see a KBS weekender this low in ratings, even during Chuseok.

Weekenders have been struggling since Young Lady and Gentleman, that was the last mega hit weekender.

The ones that followed were nowhere near as good as classic weekenders and they didn't resonate with audiences.

So true. But this one seems to be starting well.

I'm waiting for my 3 favorite senior veterans, Yoo Dong-geun (What Happens to My Family), Kim Yeong-cheol (My Father Is Strange), and Chun Ho-jin (My Golden Life), to return and headline a weekend show.
Their career seems to be forever thriving, so it'll take a good script to bring them back.

@kiara: Not Weekender related but I loved Chun Hojin’s role in the Twinkling Watermelon’s first ep. I hope there is much more of him in it.

@dncingemma, I'm not watching TW, but he is a wonderful actor. No one does bitchface better than Chun Hojin. 😂 I love him to pieces! One of my favorite K-drama grandpas.
I hope you get to see more of him, too.

I maybe wrong but the veteran line-up is an important factor for watching, or not, a weekender (or at least to me). The three dads / grand dads mentioned by @kiara are the top tiers that I like to watch. I like Kim Yeong-cheol, in particular, who can be the kindest dad but also the most evil gangsters boss. Chun Ho-Jin’s expression is rather one note to me but his bitch face is classic.

The lacking of any favorite harobolji or halmoni is a reason I haven’t started Live Your Own life.

".. but his bitch face is classic."

It's like Jang Hyuk and his infectious, over-the-top laughs.

I wonder why shows don't resonate with audiences.

I saw some variety shows have difficulities capturing and maintaining audiences.

Asian Games did draw away a large audience, I believe.

It is nonstop all all networks, the same event being
shown on 3 different networks.

I'm liking Twinkling Watermelon so I'm hoping the show continues getting attention. I hope it continues the light whimsy feeling.

Chuseok or not, makjang remains the dominant genre in Korea, especially when it is written by the Penthouse writer and feature a star-studded cast. Comedy can never come close to beating it.

I thought given the stresses of life, comedy would be liked more but then again, KD comedies are rarely just comedies. Mostly, they are either tragicomic or distinct genres of comedy and melo in one drama.

The keen sense of humour and the most unexpected places they find it is so unique to Korean dramas that it's a surprise to me comedies do not do that well in Korea.
