Beanie level: Eunuch in drag

Now onto something truly interesting.
Here is a guy who just performed musical POTO and then went home on a bike without a care.
Just the coolest guy. Love the attitude.

    isn’t he the coolest? 😎 as if I wasn’t a forever fan already💕

IKR? He didn’t care about people opinion on how to dress himself as an actor. He just put on something he’s comfortable with. It seemed like he said, ‘I’ve given my best at work. My personal life is none of your business.’

        💙💙💙
I personally don’t care for what actors do in their personal life and it’s refreshing to see there is one actor who doesn’t care about how he is seen. From whatever I have seen/read so far he seems like a very chill person who is just passionate about things he likes to do.
How I wish I could go to SK just to watch this.

Agree wholeheartedly with all the things you’ve mentioned above. Just more reason to love and respect.

Watched shadow detective 2 . For the first time, a twist in a drama got me bored instead of making it more interesting. Now we have another villain with the same agenda and similar MO. Not creative.

Thanks to beanie @ mmmmm that brings back the good thing that I always love from drama.
I’ve always drawn to strong, responsible, and intelligent but not showy, that use their ability for good reason. My all time fav Hwang Shimok followed closely by Gu Seung Hyo. But most of the times, I always root for the thoughtful, generous, and kind people who treats people respectfully and nicely. These are the kind of people that go unnoticed but they’re there, around us. The kind that do the anomaly. Watching them on my screen gets my heart swelled with hope. Hope to be just like them, and hope for more people to act more like them.

8
2

Oh someone mentioned me!!! Yay!!! 😂

Yes. I’m proud of these people, be them real people or characters on screen. Gentle souls often go unnoticed, but they make the world a good place to live. Someone said their life might not be easy, but that’s precisely what I respect and look up to in them- the ability to make difficult decisions. That is what distinguishes them from the rest, and that is something really admirable.

    5
    1

I wish we could see more like these people. The world is horrible enough without the addition of violence that is served to us on the screen.

He has ruined me for other actors. Now every time I watch, I can\’t help but compare.

6
6

No, you will be in vain to find anyone comparable. He creates a new CSW for each character he plays – it is not CSW but that character down to tone and mannerism.

For a long while, I have concluded he is his own unique CSW – who can act, sing and dance like nobody else. He’s born to be a great artist. If I want a CSW fix, I always end up at YT watching his singing clips – heavenly singing!

Watching his musical live has been on my bucket list for many, many years….

    3
    2

So true. He brings a new character each time. From the way of speaking, walking, hair-do, etc. It’s truly fascinating, really. Even his smile is different each character. How he pulled it off, I have no idea. He is just great, gifted, and sort of amazing. Watching his acting makes me happy and I wish he takes more projects.
I sometimes put his interviews on my playlist before sleeping.
The other actor that I like but in different level is Lee Sun Kyun. There’s just something very simple and not over the top about his acting. But unfortunately, the only one that I truly enjoy from him is My Mister. Diary of Prosecutor is okay, but not enough to make me want to rewatch.

      1

Same. I consume every bit of clip I can find him singing. And someday I too hope I can watch him live.

      1
      2

Have you tried this – the original score of The Throne: https://youtu.be/rKC5TF2-b0I

He wasn’t in the movie (which is headlined by Song Kang-ho and Yoo Ah-in) but only sang the song.

        0
        1

You bet I have! Give me something new, pretty please! I’m dying to hear him singing ‘You Light up My Life’. I heard he sang that song in his Hedwig last year. There’s a Korean fan that uploaded a snippet of him singing the ending of the song. It’s a torture to me. It’s one of my fav song. You can look it up on YT.

I do too. I pretty much blame myself for finding him only now. I didn’t even pay attention to him when I visited Korea back in 2019. And now I’m a broke girl. When will I get to see him perform musical? I hope he won’t retire soon.

So, I have something to confess. It\’s been three years since I watched Forest of Secrets and truly I\’ve been strucked by Cho Seung Woo\’s acting. There\’s just something bout his acting that pulls me every time. I don\’t always like his drama. But I always like his character. His voice is truly comforting. Not too manly like Lee Sun Kyun but really soothing. The fact that he is one of the best musical actors makes me respect him more.

9
12

There is something very special about him as an actor.

IKR. There’s a feeling every time watching him on my screen. Satisfied is the word.

He is a brilliant actor. And sexy to boot. I loved him a lot in ‘Life’. I wish I had better access to his singing.

    5
    2

I wish his musical are recorded and sold. A fan can dream. His voice is something else entirely. I even rewatch Sysiphus The Mess just to listen to his voice while I do my chores.

Not sure about sexy, though I can say he is very handsome. He has this cool aura about him but at the same time is cute. I know he prefer to be called sexy, but the more I watch his bts, and interviews, the word cute and soft decribe him best.

      3
      1

i’d call him sexy. AND handsome. and i posted a photo for you to see on my wall… dangit that we were only in seoul until november 1st… well not that we’d have been able to get tickets but….

my fav is The Classic, with Son Ye Jin!

    4
    1

His movies’s list is harder to choose. I haven’t watched Low Life, Yi Sang That Yi Sang and YMCA. With exception H (Though I applaud him for taking the role and aced it.) And Tazza (Don’t like the story, but still love his portrayal.) I like them all. I may have watched Inside Man more than I care to admit. The movie was intense. I like Feng Shui even when it’s underrated. Of cource The Classic us Classic. Jo In Sung was very awkward compared to other casts. I actually watched it way long before FoS, like maybe a decade before.
His latest filmography really is the reflection of his wish. Good character that has something to learn from, even the disastrous Sysiphus.
And that just makes me helplessy in love with him.
I’m rambling, I know. Sorry but not sorry.

      2
      1

he has that effect on us, yes he does…
        ; )

let’s not talk about sisyphus or whatever it was called… tho i watched each and every episode in spite of park shin hye. i don’t dislike her, i just feel like sometimes she’s flat. Alhambra… but ya know, i liked her in The Royal Tailer with Go Soo. go figure…
        : D

STM was the first kdrama that I watched of her.
Another thing, I have always had this thing about Korean actresses and actors. I dislike them more with their heavy make up and unnatural faces. I am judgy, I know, but I can’t help myself. That’s why I steer clear from idol turn to actor dramas and any show with too beautiful to be true faces. So despite my long career as drama watcher (ehm), I prob just watched handful of them. Quite honestly, time travel is not my thing, but CSW is, so I watched it.

          2
          2

Dun worry. I am judgy of actors’ faces too. There are certain face types that I just cannot get on. Anyway, I’ve enjoyed you gushing over Cho Seung-woo. As for me, I particularly like the way he speaks. I’ve never thought Korean language is sexy until I hear him. The way he enunciates… where can people learn to speak like him?

I just saw your reply @skirt
Is it sexy? I like it, too. Slowly and deliberately. I am not sure about the outcome even when we copy the way he talks. But one can try.😊

Finished Prison Playbook. My fav watch this month. Love Je Hyeok. I realized there were many times the cast bare-chested, showing their abs and I was never for a moment felt like it\’s a nuissance. It goes well with the story. But somehow watching some actors showing up their abs without any context irritates me. Does it necessary? I could google their topless pictures If I want it. I wish Kdramas stop with this. It\’s a bit sexist and undermining the actors.

I still haven’t watched the last episode. I can’t bring me to say goodbye to this gorgeous drama. I refuse to let it end.

I did not notice the abs that much. Perhaps, I wasn’t paying too much attention. But I did note a shower scene where almost the entire cast present has an oversized tiger or so tattoo on the back. It made me smile. I imagined the makeup team applying those for what felt like least than 12 seconds on screen.

      I can’t bring *myself*

Lol. There were many, actually. There are two shower scenes alone if my memory serves me right. Not to mention Je Hyeok and Cap. Yoo. First time Moo Sung had his back shown. I was thinking, ‘Ok, maybe he was shy. Imagine being other actors with fitter body.’ But then the second he showed his front.

Prison Playbook is my top 1 k-drama. It’s so so good from start to end. I’m not someone who cries easily but I cried buckets with this drama.

I wasn’t hooked to it up until ep 6. But I decided to stick on it. But from then on, I truly enjoyed their bonding. I love Liut. Paeng. He’s like the mother hen to them.

Now that I\’m in Jang Geu Rae level, I have to confess that I feel unworthy of the title. He is such a hard-worker, while I\’m not. I have to wake up soon.

How can I resist a beautiful person such this? Just knowing he is somewhat healthy and kicking ass with his talent making me a happy and proud fan.

Finally I can check May It Please The Court off from my list after putting it on hold for months. Honestly I lost interest halfway. I picked it back last night. All I can think about is why did Lee Kyu Hyung pick the similar character as in FoS. I like the first few episodes than the later episodes. Enjoy the acting of Jung Ryeo Won the most.

MIPTC should have been a tv special or a short 2-episode (4, at the MOST) drama. The premise was interesting but it quickly became draggy and boring.

    0
    1

True. I wouldn’t have picked it up back if not for the fact I have started watching it. I hate not finishing something even if I don’t like it. I probably should, though.

Finished Call It Love in a day. I don\’t particulary like romance drama for some reasons, but I gave it a shot after reading beanies\’ reviews and I like it. I wish more romance dramas like this.

Two days actually, but still within 24 hours. It’s Eid season here. So, nothing to do.
I don’t mind the pace. I was distracted initially with the directing, but then I just overlooked it. Somehow, it’s very similar with My Mister. The FL dislike on seasons, and other which I can’t pinpoint.

    1
    0

You totally should check that one. I love it! I can’t stop gushing about it to anyone asking for recommendation. It’s the second best after Forest of Secrets (both season) in my history of watching Kdramas. While there’s no scene from FoS that I would skip, I couldn’t do the same with My Mister. The story of ML and FL is what engages me.

    1
    0

Ah, that one, too. Even the characters are very alike. But, as we all know, there is nothing new under the sun. So long as they are well executed, it’s all good.

    1

i also did watched it. its not as what i totally expect. there are parts of it that bores me and felt impatient lol but the story is something new to me. overall, i liked it!

My friend finds me weird that I only watch few dramas on repeat (FoS 1-2, My Mister, and Dear My Friends). In my defense, I tried to watch, but I dropped most of them, or didn\’t impress me til end.

2

Did you start a lot of similar dramas and these were the only ones that you got past a couple of episodes? Have you stopped watching alternatives now as you know what you like so stick with them as they bring you what you need. Those three are very different in their subject matter do they share the same writer/PD or something else that drew you to them?
Have you tried On the verge of insanity, Chief Kim, Misaeng, Black dog: being a teacher, Healer, Through the darkness, Chicago Typewriter?

    1
    2

I forgot to mention Misaeng. But my top three are those.

I always love brainy shows and shows with good messages. Something to think about. Not really fun, rightt. But strangely I find comfort in them.

      2
      1

I think it’s great that we all have our niches and it’s a real shame that many of us are not able to find the things we like in the dramas we watch these days. I assumed it was only in my favourite genre rom com but my other preferred genres slice of life and coming of age have been effected too. The more I read the beanie comments the more I see that all genres are being experienced as disappointing recently. I am sure it is not a recent thing as I hear so much about back in the day dramas that have been seen as epic failures.

        1
        1

Are we finally fed up with all the dramas that we have seen all our life?

          1
          0

    I think it makes sense.
It seems like you enjoy the slice of life genre. And well, Secret Forest is a masterpiece so it can be the exception.

Admittedly, I\’ve never been a fan of too easy/cheesy/fluffy kind of drama since forever. But watching FoS in 2020 makes me realize I always value story line, acting, message of the show.

I missed my chance when I was a noble idiot level as beanies. It won’t stop me though to confess that I’m an idiot for Cho Seung Woo. He’s been my constant obsession for the past 3 years.
