First and most importantly, THEIR CHEMISTRY IS OFF THE FLIPPIN’ CHARTS. Will this be my favorite romance/OTP of 2023? Probably! Drama doesn’t waste any time in moving the plot along –
*spoiler* that wedding was amazing – so much going on – and that was just in the first 20 minutes!
LOL! Haven’t watched yet, but here too appreciate the gif! 👏😂👏
I’ll have to postpone watching until tomorrow – but soooo looking forward to it! Great to hear it was fun!
@sonai 왜, WHY…do you have to wait so long??? I think you might want to reconsider your priorities, including the fact that, if you’re not drinking protein coffee, you’re not drinking Sung Hoon’s current DRINK of CHOICE, which is all that we want for right now…
Toe curling? I had to look that up, because we have that word in Danish, and it means insufferably embarrassing. Like, Criiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinge!!!!
But that didn’t seem to fit with the mood you were hinting otherwise.
Yeah, no, I looked it up.
But can you imagine the Danish meaning of the word? “Tåkrummende”. And it’s an old word in my world. (CHecking: Known since 1963).
Also, “Toe-curling” is not in Merriam-Webster, but it’s actually in the Cambridge Dictionary … in the same meaning as in Danish! https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/toe-curling
Yeah, I can imagine that it means “super-cringey.” Like how in Korea you get goosebumps when something is cringe. In American English, I guess the phrase I’d use is “gag me with a spoon” or something related to barfing…I’d get sick to my stomach from the cringe.
It’s closer in meaning, because “cringe” really just means you “curl” your whole body, or at least your guts – “toe-curling” just specifies the toes.
It’s just that there are other situations where your body gets tense, including your toes. Ahem.
I looked in MW first, and then in Urban Dictionary (Who has that word – in the sense you are going for). And then in Cambridge, and Oxford, who both have it – meaning embarrassing, in the “cringe” way, like in Danish.

No, “toe curling” is…um…a few steps beyond “butterflies,” if you know what I mean.

I think cringe is a totally appropiate word too, in this case.
