Beanie level: Water maid

Are there any supporting role actors you think should lead their own Kdramas?

I would like to see Park Kyung-hye (MRIAG) star in her own Rom-com.

Can someone really be a bad actor or actress? Or are they just lacking in skill and execution?

I believe practice makes improvement and there’s always room for improvement. Not everyone is going to nail a specific role.

Some shine through in rom-coms while others do better in melodramas or fantasy thrillers…

I agree that acting etc can be improved by practice. A case in point is Kim Min-hee. As a young model turned actress, she was roundly slated for her poor acting. (I’ve seen her in an old drama called Juliet’s Man, and she really was pretty awful.) But through sheer hard work (training, script analysis, intelligent choices), she has become one of the best actresses working today.

The problem is when unskilled but popular performers are cast in films and dramas at the expense of far more suitable candidates. They could claim they need the practice and the exposure, but it does seem unfair that better actors / actresses should have to make way for them, especially when competition in the industry is already so vicious.

One actress I really really do not like is Moon Geun-young. She played Han Se-kyung in Cheongdam-dong Alice and she was terrible, she wasn’t right for the part. She put me right off and I could never watch anything with her in it again, I’d have to give it a miss.

Hello fellow Beanies 🤗

I’ve been catching up on the comments I’ve missed over the past two and half weeks and let’s just say it looks like there were some “heated” discussions lo aboutl… Squid games… Hate it or Love it, it’s drawing more people to the wonderful land of Kdramas. Personally I haven’t watched it nor do I plan to. It’s not my kind of show, neither is AOS, sorry not sorry *shrugs* but let’s just all agree to disagree. I’ve come across a bunch of Kdramas where others have hated and I’ve loved and vice versa. We all have our own personal tastes and I believe that is what makes this community so beautifully great…

We can all recommend shows and someone along the line will either agree that it’s a great show or they might hate it. But eventually we’ll end up coming to a similar opinion about a certain Kdrama…

(I’ve also been re-watching shows and will soon be posting my reviews of them on my fan wall. So keep on the look out for that)

I\’ve always thought it would be cool if the kdramas where the actor is portraying an actor; That they should release the footage of those scenes where they are filming \”the kdrama/movie\” as a special episode once the series is over. Or even make it a míni series or something..

Like the shows \”My Love From The Stars\” or \”Shooting Stars\” I think it would have been a great add on.

Can I get some recommendations for Kdramas with angsty ex lover vibes? Or angsty romance in general.

For the main leads? Or the ex of main leads?

For main leads – Our Beloved Summer
For the ex of leads – Dinner Mate (but i didnt like that part of the story but the main OTP was great)
Angsty – Secret Love and Innocent Man

Maybe you will find more “enemies to lovers” kdrama since it has similar theme. Mostly ex to lovers in kdramas are not that common. The other I can think of is 18 Again.

Discovery of Love with Jung Yoo Mi and Eric Mun for ex-lovers. With the same actors, there is Que Sera Sera for an angsty romance.

Would Go back couple and Familiar wife count as they are similar to 18 again

I haven’t seen go back couple, so I will give that one a try. I’ve seen a lot of clips of that one and always wondered if it was a good drama. I enjoyed familiar wife, and find myself looking for dramas similar to that one.

    Cunning Single Lady
    Matrimonial Chaos
The World of the Married (extra angsty)
    Encounter
    My Secret Romance

I too love the enemies to lovers trope.
I hate the terminal illness trope

I tend not to watch it if it involves terminal illness, we already know 9/10 they are going to die in the end. It’s not enjoyable to watch.

    I love “friends to lovers”

    I hate “childhood connections”

Oh my gosh yes, it’s like everything stems from childhood now and days. They need fresher ideas.

I hate the “I’m going to go abroad for a year and not contact my girlfriend at all because I’m sooooo busy working to get back to her asap” trope 🤦‍♀️

Do you know what is worse? “I didn’t go for three years, I actually only went for two, I have been back for a year and all our friends know, but I decided not to tell you and stalk you instead” because why…?

What show is that from? I must avoid that one at all costs!

Doctor John. It is actually a very good show. But that final episode disgusted me! Later a beanie told me the exact moment I should have stopped watching in the previous episode. I did just that on rewatch and I was quite happy with it.

Yikes, that sounds horrible, that’s certainly a recipe for disaster.
