Beanie level: Water maid

Love the contrast between Siwon’s kinda-not-that-great-live lines and Kyuhyun’s clinically impeccable diction and singing immediately afterwards. 2007 Kpop, I had no idea I missed you so.

the moment when your life becomes oddly like an episode of a drama… i laughed at the absurdity of my situation so hard yesterday that i felt like a pretty good female lead

you think they\’ll make a drama about a guy and girl meeting on a dating app and actually falling in love like in real life?

i always feel kinda bad when i have zero interest in a celebrity who is everywhere. like, i\’m pretty sure she has tons of fans but i wonder why i don\’t see the appeal

    Suzy or Park Shin Hye?

    1

Suzy hahaha. I get that she’s incredibly popular but to me she seems… just kinda okay? Like an average singer and actress I guess.

      2
      3

Her appeal is her visual….she is okay singer, poorly handles basic interview questions, average actress at best who is either moderate hit or total miss in most things I’ve seen her in. So being famous for something as superficial as her beauty , I don’t get it either. I think her acting has improved though but still a long way to go. Hopefully couple of more years down the line, she’ll surprise us all with spectacular acting.

          *same sentiments word to word*
i too cant feel or understand her fame just of visuals (even though i find many other female idols having more appealing beauty as her). and couldn’t even watch even a single drama of her…

I’m there with you ~ no hate to anyone, there are just some famous actors I wouldn’t go out of my way to see. I do usually end up watching them because they are cast in a show or opposite someone I want to see.

She might be like a younger version of Kim Tae-hee, but Kim Tae-hee has something else aside from visual – her brain & down-to-earth personality. People mostly are bragging about her visuals + brain. Personally I like KTH more as an actress, because I found her acting was not that terrible from her younger days. KTH was well loved during her prime time, she still is but now she might prefer to live in a quiet life and settled down as a wife and mother. In fact her acting was so good in her latest projects too. For Suzy, I think she is loved as a person more than any other things. I listened to few of her songs, but nothing to write home about. Same goes to her acting. Fangirls just love when their biases are great in giving them. fanservices and nice too. But well her visual is her main appeal, that’s for sure.

What I like about k-ent industry, it’s very competitive so everyone can have their favorites. For every Suzy or Yoona, the industry still gives me won jinah or Kim yoo jung
Suzy is everywhere, but it’s still not like TS during 1989 era. The media was so oversaturated with Taylor Swift and her girl squad and every celebrity kissing her ass.
So I’m okay with Suzy 😄

    1
    1

I don’t dislike Suzy….she is a cultural phenomenon of sorts which I don’t understand….and her praise is almost always about her visuals and if you see her interviews, you’ll notice she can’t function beyond her script or given directions……….TS, nobody can deny that she can and does sing well, writes really well music…..yes from marketing POV Suzy is like TS, a well managed brand like TS but TS is far more talented and can add things to her profile on her own….Suzy, lets say JYP has spoofed her to the point of no return

      2
      1

Sera, above explained about fan service that made Suzy well liked in Korea. I remember TS also has done the same thing, long before she invited her fans to her homes, she’s one of the first celebrity who actively respond to her fans on social media.

I don’t like Taylor Swift, as a public figure. I still listen to her songs and I enjoy them, esp her earlier albums up to Red. She’s very talented and it’s obvious though her image is manufactured, she is still the boss in her creative process.

I still haven’t found any korean celebrity that is more annoying than Taylor Swift 😂 I hope LDW is not like Tom Hiddleston for Taylor Swift 😂

I am with you. Legends say she is popular for her visuals and kind personality, but I feel like every lady in korea has this innocent-kind image and her visuals fit perfectly in every beauty standard but that also makes her face very forgettable.
This or I simply don’t see her appeal because of her acting. Like I never found Seo Ye Jin especially great looking in Moorim but in Save Me I actually saw why every character thought of her as an angel

I’ve never seen him in a sageuk but I hope he’d give it a shot especially with Nam Ji-hyun.

He has never been in one but I feel like his general aura is a good fit?? I hope he gets his sageuk tone down pat 😆

He is a dedicated actor so I think he’d be fine.

Me too. I’m really looking forward to it, and if he does well I kind of want to see him in a more serious sageuk role. Crown Prince Sohyeon maybe?

Nam Da-reum is growing up sooooooo well. He’s always been my pick for teenage crown prince of a fictional Korean constitutional monarchy in my oft-thought-about-but-never-written dream drama hahaha.

You mean Goong S (though hopefully better…)? lol

Like Goong but wayyyyyy cooler hahaha. I loved the original drama though, so I’m still holding out for a remake.

Goong is one I want to rewatch but I’m afraid it’ll be not as good as I remember. I just want to keep my warm fuzzy feelings of it.

It actually does hold up quite well! Though my ideal constitutional monarchy drama is (in the fic in my head) centered on a young royal family with like political intrigue and all that jazz. Ahhhh what would I give to have that happen with Nam Da-reum playing crown prince??

Haha I’d totally forgotten about having applied to Wanna One’s fan club. Pleasant surprise to see it arrive half a year later, anyhow 😄

The Hong Kong movie “My Left Eye Sees Ghosts” is easily one of the funniest and saddest movies ever. It explores the concept of love—can you truly love someone even if you’ve just known them for seven days? How deep is that love and how much can you do for that love?

It’s a great movie and you also get to see some of the interesting and fun aspects of Chinese folk religion (for one, you exorcise a ghost by twisting said person’s middle finger with a pair of red chopsticks) as well. Highly recommended!

Return is interesting… and also highly reminiscent of The Loft? I was watching it with my mum and these rich people are messed up.

i know the world loves iu and all but sometimes i wish they’d remember that there was another singer-songwriter before her who also wrote the one song that everybody sang at noraebangs

yes, younha

Uh given that his new drama is set in the Ming dynasty, no. He won’t need to shave his head because nobody wore the queue en masse until the Qing. Why is the topknot not more well known as a quintessential Chinese hairstyle ☹️

Anyway Lay’s going to be playing Zhu Qizhen, aka the Zhengtong Emperor, aka the Tianshun Emperor, aka the emperor who was emperor twice, aka the one that I think Wallace Huo also played in an earlier drama (???). A young Zhu Qizhen will be interesting to see… I hope they go all the way until he’s captured by the Mongols but eh the drama’s about his mother (played by Tang Wei!) so we’ll see.

Same!!! Everything looks primed for greatness in the show really, though Sa Jin-jin isn’t a name I’d usually get behind hahaha.

But I’m already tired with all the time travel and future seeing. I hope we get a slice of life drama soon…

20C Boy & Girl is a slice of life drama, though the characters have fancy occupations.

It’s true that time travel is an overused premise this year, but in the upcoming cycle the only one with time travel is Go Back Spouses.
