SOMEDAY OR ONE DAY: Devastated. With 3 more episodes to go, unfortunately I watched the ending of ep 9 and my favorite character died. But with time messed up maybe he’ll come back. Bring him back!
He’s definitely one character that should come back because of time hijinks & it wouldn’t impact the story writing negatively so…. Cough *Signal* cough 🤭
It was funny but not what I thought about that scene. If they are right Se-Ri was once again being something of an entitled brat. I thought she was actually being kind and playful about something that was making both of them feel a bit awkward and that’s why it was a sweet funny moment. If however they are right, it was more like a calculated, passive-aggressive and silly conversation, motivated more by her insecurity than kindness.
Yeah, but it’s also in American’s hands and we know they ruin everything when they do a remake, since the point of the drama is totally lost to shallow minds.
@egads Oh, ye heart of coal, ye.
That’s what capitalism is about after all. Oh, wait, this is late stage capitalism, your money works hard not “if you work hard”.
According this article from Hollywood reporter; “Creative details are in the early stages, but Bong and McKay would adapt the movie for an English-language limited series.” So yeah it is an adaption…. Beside it have many other producers so sound like it is gonna have a very American feel to it…
Actually, I’d never heard of Adam McKay so looked up what he’s done. I still am not familiar with him and didn’t recognize a single thing he’s done in film or tv. But then since I’ve become “obsessed” with Asian dramas the last few years, I can’t seem to watch anything produced in the U.S.
I don’t mind waiting till 2021. I think it will be well worth it. Season 1 has been fantastic thus far. Easy to follow and oh so satisfying. I really hope they get back all of the original cast. Everyone has done a bang up job.
I was surprised how well written the first episode was. And the awful CGI and green screen work, rather than detracting from the drama, gives it a fantasy vibe that works well too.
Having said that… I didn’t rush to watch episode 2…
Bloody Romance: I only just noticed Chang An can fight using two swords – I wish there were more scenes like this. I love fight choreography fighting with two swords.
If you haven’t heard spoilers about the ending and don’t understand it, I’ll tell you when you’re finished. It isn’t what it looks like..

JADE DYNASTY: the movie with Xiao Zhan. Just, no. Too silly, dumb, bad production. They tried to fit a 60 episode drama into a less than 2 hour movie. But that\’s just my opinion.
As it is called Jade Dynasty 1, I’m expecting that it’s supposed to be a prequel to the main story. Whether there’ll ever be a JD2 of course remains to be seen. I guess it gave a sufficient intro to all the characters and explained the change in Zhang Xiao Fan. The flying scenes were artistically rendered though and it did offer interesting cgi or blue screen vistas.
The best part of 9.9 million dollar woman was the last few seconds of ep 1 when Kim Kang Woo finally appeared and promptly got kidnapped and beat up by the bad guys. KKW at his best.
I\’m so bored that even the good dramas I really want to watch seem boring. It\’s all your fault, Untamed! And I blame you, Xiao Zhan! You were so vibrantly alive, nothing else compares.
Haha… same. I finally managed to claw myself out of it (well, not completely given that I haven’t finished the audio drama yet) by watching a bunch of variety shows. I’m still waiting for Joy of Life to have at least 20 eps subbed before marathoning it.
Joy of Life is the one I want to watch but just can’t watch right now – not because it isn’t good, it looks great, but because everything looks dull right now. It’ll be okay in a few days! I love the modern musical score, the type of humor and Zhang Ruoyun, but it’s just gonna have to wait a bit. The mistake is going back to Untamed to watch a few favorite scenes and realizing how much Xiao Zhan brings it to life.
I’m really liking Joy of LIfe – now if I could just muster up some “joy of life” myself, I’d enjoy it more. Looking forward to watching it with more enthusiasm one of these days.
I’m excited to watch JoL but I’ll wait until it’s finished airing and being subbed since I am a binge watcher. I’ve heard it’s good though.
And I don’t think XZ has a very big role (read a comment that he wasn’t in the first 4 episodes at all), but I’m not wanting to watch it because of him. Even if he wasn’t in it I still would have wanted to watch it. Him being in it is just a bonus to me.
I am resigned to no dramas for now. Not because I’m on the road but I have no urge to watch anything. Oh I will finish Chang An when I’m back but Heaven’s Official Blessings looks to be addictive. Have you read that novel?
HoB is absolutely amazing. Even better than The Untamed novel imo (and seems a lot of people who have read both also agree). I didn’t get out of bed for a 3 day weekend as I spent it reading HoB the whole time. And I was staying up many hours past when I should be going to sleep because I couldn’t stop reading (I was really tired for that week lol). And I would secretly read the novel at work because I wanted to know what happened next.
I have seen it and it’s lovely ❤ I love his voice. So beautiful and powerful. I see the first few ep. are on Viki. I’ve heard it’s good so I’m excited to see it. But since I dont like live watching it’ll be a little while before I see it 😭

Li Qin and Xiao Zhan have been 4 of the same dramas: Wolf, Jade Emperor, Joy of Life and Fight Breaks Sphere. Wonder if they even had any scenes together though.
Pretty sure they did in most. I know they did in Fight Break Sphere. And considering both her and XZ were the main characters in Jade Dynasty they would have in that one. I’ve seen them in trailers together in The Wolf so know they do for that one (I believe XZ is the love rival in that). Not sure for JoL though as he has a much smaller role in that compared to all the others.
I posted this before, but in case you didn’t see it…I noticed Wolf is now starring XZ, not Wang Talu. Interesting. Haven’t checked lately so maybe it’s changed back. I remember first seeing the trailer a couple years ago (when I really liked Darren Wang) and thinking, well that other guy 2nd lead is certainly beautiful in a classic way but I like how Darren Wang has a different look. My how times have changed!
Well in The Wolf, they are both listed as the mains. But Darren Wang is the main character. The drama is centered around his character which is why I believe XZ is the secondary male lead.
Yeah, I know, that’s why I was so surprised (but not really) that suddenly XZ was listed as lead. But I don’t remember where I saw that…will try to find it.
Looks to me as if Darren Wang is (or was) supposed to be a werewolf type. But who knows how much they’ve added, deleted, edited and probably ruined the drama. Last I heard they’d added several extra episodes. But now with XZ’s popularity who knows what they’ll do.
Ya I’d heard about him being a Werewolf also. I wonder if that’s why it’s not passing censors and getting an airdate 🙄 Hard to know with China’s ridiculous censor laws. Probably have to do some rewrites and heavy editing which will probably not make for a smooth plot 😕
So many fans have been looking forward to Wolf for so long it’s bound to be disappointing. Did you see the latest from Chinese Drama News about the author of Mo Dao Zu Shi being detained?
Oof. I hadn’t heard but it’s sad that I’m not surprised. Lots of BL writers have been detained over the years. It’s so sad and depressing. I’d heard rumors she had been detained earlier this year, but I don’t know how true those were. One of the bad things about becoming a popular BL author, is that the authorities then notice you 😑

But yes, he has a pretty minor role in this. I’ve heard the first 4 episodes are really good so far. I want to watch this just because it looks good. XZ is just a small bonus, and I mean small, from the reviews I read XZ isn’t in those first episodes and in the 2 minute trailer I watched he was only in it for about 5 seconds.
