Finally “My Country” background instrumentals have been released.
I’m having withdrawal symptoms. I don’t want to get over them just yet. And I can’t stop playing these instrumentals. They evoke just the right kind of emotions in the show… from hopeful and inspiring… to tension and suspense. I can feel every drumbeat, wind and string instrument take me to the heart of the show. They have a non-traditional sageuk music feel, but these pieces give somewhat of an edgier vibe which I think is more appropriate for the sageuk-faction theme.

I just love this. The music is simply amazing.

It really is amazing. The musical team is so talented they deserve acknowledgement too.

Oh yes, finally! This instrumental definitely grew on me. I still don’t care much for the voices, but funny enough I sometimes I myself la-la-la singing along. I don’t even need to know Korean to sing this. 😂

Have you seen the finale yet?
I’ve delayed posting anything on the wall. I’m still not ready for the show to end, I might rewatch the final two episodes just to let it all sink in. 😂😅

No, I haven’t. Don’t worry, I’m sure most beanies have seen it already so just post away. I’ll scroll down quickly to avoid spoilers.

My Country OST “Farewell”
This is hauntingly beautiful.

Translation of poem by German poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe below.

    Der Abschied
    Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Laß mein Aug den Abschied sagen,
Den mein Mund nicht nehmen kann!
Schwer, wie schwer ist er zu tragen!
Und ich bin doch sonst ein Mann.

    Traurig wird in dieser Stunde
    Selbst der Liebe süßstes Pfand,
Kalt der Kuß von deinem Munde,
Matt der Druck von deiner Hand.

    Sonst, ein leicht gestohlnes Mäulchen,
O wie hat es mich entzückt!
    So erfreuet uns ein Veilchen,
Das man früh im März gepflückt.

Doch ich pflücke nun kein Kränzchen,
    Keine Rose mehr für dich.
    Frühling ist es, liebes Fränzchen,
    Aber leider Herbst für mich!

    Farewell
    Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Let my eyes bid farewell to her
For my mouth no longer can.
Hard, how hard is this loss to bear
    Despite my being a man!

To sadness in this hour grown older
    Does love’s sweet forfeit belong,
For the kiss from your mouth is now colder
And your handclasp no longer strong.

No more a mouth so easily turned
O what delights it gave me!
Like those that the violet earned
When plucked in March so early.

But now, I gather no flounces,
    No further roses in bloom.
Spring is the season, dear Frances
But for me, alas, it is autumn.

Didn’t expect anyone would know the poet. I’m glad to see an actual Beanie fan here ☺️

My Country Ep11
Such a heartbreaking scene.
The one thing he most needed to hear came not from his father but from the son of his mentor and father-figure.

So it looks like they’re going all out on the tropey antics. Guess I’m gonna have to rewire my brain for this — all for the love of Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin.

It’s going to test my love for Son Ye Jin *sigh*

It’s a very trying year for kdrama fans. Vagabond is melting my brain, now I am crash landing… Sigh…

I dropped it at the first episode 😂 I hope it won’t be the case for Crash Landing

I’m counting on HB and SYJ top caliber performance to pull through the cringey stuff.

Should we start a support group in advance?

That’s a great idea! I have a bad feeling we’re gonna need it 😂 And I think we should throw in emergency parachute kits too just in case. 🤣

I remember reading about them wanting to be in a RomCom together. Perhaps this was the best project that was offered to them.

That “fateful” encounter. I have been waiting for this moment and show delivered perfectly.

My Country Ep4
I can’t believe writer pulled out that classic trope. Hwi just can’t seem to catch a break and my heart just breaks for him. He needs to meet BangWon soon to have that needed leverage.

I think the story would have been a lot more interesting without *THAT* trope.

I know.. writer loves all the tropes this show seem to have it all. Good thing for me, I think the actors’ performance and production work are compelling. The story has enough twist to keep me interested and anticipate how it will all unfold.

“My Country” It has only been two episodes but I am already hooked and just have to rave about how good it is. This clip of the two male leads fighting off the guards is one of my favorites.

        eh? oh, no no! lol
My ship was Secretary Cha and Secretary Jung. and that Ship sailed for sure, except all in the background. 🙂
I AM very happy that all 4 secretaries are reunited though. they make a fabulous team.

He does have that youthful charm. And yet, somehow he has that mature and serious vibe in his demeanor which is endearing.

Gotta love how this show manages to keep me glued to the screen, on the edge of my seat while turning on the waterworks all within the first two hours.

I am Jang Geu-Rae! Haha! Didn’t notice the change in my name label – had to actually look this up! Misaeng is on my To Watch list. I loved Im Si-Wan in The King In Love and Byun Yo-Han in Mr Sunshine.
