Premiere Watch: Behind Your Touch

Time slot: Saturday-Sunday
Broadcaster: JTBC
Genre: Comedy, romance, fantasy, mystery
Episode count: 16

Reasons to watch: The drama with the weirdest premise of 2023 is finally coming, folks! And if we take the usual K-drama equation into account — viz., worst premises on paper make for the best dramas — we might just be in for a zinger. (Or am I being too hopeful?)

Han Ji-min plays our wacky veterinarian who sees peoples’ pasts when she touches their behinds. First (rightly) horrified, detective Lee Min-ki soon finds her powers useful, and the hijinks ensue, alongside EXO’s Suho as our heroine’s crush. It sounds just about as bad as bad can be, which gives me great hope. So does the team behind the drama, who last worked on My Liberation Notes, The Light in Your Eyes and This Week My Wife Will Have an Affair.

TL;DR: Han Ji-min is a butt-touching psychic and Lee Min-ki is a cop who needs her help

I did several double takes with that photo because I was like Suho?? No way? Yes way?! That is Suho!!

I didn't even realise he was in this, some Exo-L I am omg 🤯 He's now my new EXO bias after the most recent comeback so suppose I'm duty bound to check this one out now ;)

Wow, you're a loyal fan! I love listening to EXO' songs - they have some powerhouse vocalists. But to actually watch any show that they're in? I might have to think twice. Guess I don't love them enough. 😉

HAHHAAH no criteria or tiers for fan love! I give it a shot usually but sometimes can't stick through it even for them - sorry Sehun, I did give All That We Loved a try). Speaking of vocals though, if you haven't already check out their Dingo Killing Voice medley, the vocals are NEXT level live!!

Of course I have!!!Truth to be told, I'd love them to sing waaaay longer without music. Their voice (how they harmonize) is heaven to my ear.

100%!! It's a shame that the vid felt so short 😭 SM is shit but their groups always know how to harmonise well and EXO is the standard 🏆 (NCT Dream did a bang-up job of delivering layered vocals and harmonising in their Killing Voice ep too)

I'm more excited for @attiton's puns and comments than I am for the drama itself😂 BUT I'll definitely give it a try! I like quirky and weird, and maybe it will be the kind I enjoy?

You know how sometimes, a Beanie will encourage @hacja by telling him he’s funny...and you find yourself thinking, “Sigh. Don’t encourage that ajusshi??”

That’s what people are thinking about you two right now, only using slightly different terminology.

I don't think he's gonna stop anytime soon (at least I hope not, but don’t tell him 😉).

...but neither will I 😜

I didn't watch yet but I think it's a drama that will need 4 episodes test to settle down.

So far, I loved what I saw (how does Han Ji Min manage to look like a 20 something old???!! Incredible). It's not as laugh out funny as I expected, yet, but there are already some characters I like (the brother sister duo lol!) and the fact I am a sucker for animals (the dog episode had me sniffling).
I am not yet sure of Lee Min Ki though (the man is sure an eye candy). I get it that he needs to be perpetually frowny at being stuck where he is, but he seems to have this one expression through out (very similar to the movie I saw). He needs to lighten up a bit, especially where comedy comes in. Judgement is still out.

I am impressed by the brother cop’s acting. His facial acting when he was telling Jang-yeol the reason he wanted to become a cop. You can tell he was really aggrieved by his sister. Haha…

I am liking LMK’s attack on his role so far. Jang-yeol is not happy being assigned in this town, but I like it that he is not sulky about it during duty, in fact, he is very energetic and motivated.

I hope to see you in the next episodes and the recap. ☺️

That brother cop is going to become my favorite, I can already tell, hahaha! He was so convincing that even I thought it was a quite a valid reason to become a cop LOL!

One thing I do worry about is that the show is already showing signs of tons of fillers. The first episode itself was full of it. The shamman gag was long and overdrawn, and painfully unfunny. I hope they limit it going forward.

@minniegupta1, yes same observation on the Shaman scene.

I’m absolutely not going to be the Beanie who defends this drama for the next eight weeks—I’m just here make butt puns on the weecap pages.

However, I felt that the shaman scene had one, huge rhetorical lift and two smaller narrative ones.

The rhetorical lift was to show what types of comedy this drama will have. With the FL who can read people’s memories bouncing around like another “bunny hopper” this week who can tell when people lie, we learn that there will be physical as well as verbal humor. Ditto with the long, “tense” delay before the shaman sliced his feet on the straw cutter immediately upon touching the blades…

Narratively, it gave the writers a chance for the FL to tell the truth of her whole backstory in one breath and for cause--she needed to come clean in order to become a shaman. It also helped us learn what the rest of the community thought of our MacArthur Shaman (from the responses of the peanut gallery of locals who were assisting), moreover, at the end of the scene, he also gave his backstory.

Could it have been done faster? Sure. But this is a Kdrama, where every scene that could take 3 minutes takes 10 minutes—that’s in part why we love them so :)

That was a terrible first ep. Even the cute and self-sacrificing but easily persuadable doggie at the end of the ep didn’t have an effect on me. I don’t think I can put up with the butt drama. Nixed.

Genius, right?! Haha… At the start of the flashback, with the bangs/ponytail and the plaid shirt, I was like “she’s giving Na Hee-do vibes”. And then the mention of their age: 25 and 21. I was laughing so hard.

I enjoyed the 1st episode. I laugh and cry at the scene of the old man and his dog. This drama has a promise. I am surprised actually. Sometimes it is good to set your expectations to low and be surprised at the end. I hope it will get better.

The real question is what is Suho doing here? Are we getting a good villain in the disguise of the cutie first crush material? I am hoping they are not going to waste him in a standard SML role.
