Jung Yoo-min’s Perfect Marriage with Sung Hoon

With the premiere now less than two weeks away, MBN has been pushing out their last round of promos for A Perfect Marriage, setting the stage with a cocktail of ~drama~ tropes for our revenge-seeking heroine Jung Yoo-min (Celebrity).

Opening on an art exhibit, the latest teaser begins with our heart-of-gold Cinderella Han Yi-joo (Jung Yoo-min) crestfallen by the family photos that omit her, featuring only her younger sister Jin Ji-hee (Penthouse 3) with step-mom Lee Min-young (The Witch is Alive).

In voiceover, Step-mom makes her feelings quite clear, sneering that she hates when people don’t know their place. Yi-joo tries to assert that, “I’m family too…” but Sung Hoon (Woori the Virgin) delivers the cold and plain truth, questioning if “those people” really see her as family, and whether Yi-joo is just pretending not to know.

We then continue Yi-joo’s worst day of her life with her good-for-nothing husband Oh Seung-yoon (Blind). The plot tells us that he’s been harboring a crush on his sister-in-law Han Yoo-ra (Ji Jin-hee) and the jerk admits that he married Yi-joo out of pity.

We then watch as Yi-joo is assaulted by a woman claiming that she was scammed, all the while evil Step-mom snickers. But even when confronted, Step-mom simply says that she never liked Yi-joo and moves onto her next plan, calling up our good friend the Truck of Doom.

But not to worry, because some time-slip magic is here to give Yi-joo a do-over. She’s transported back to July 2022, when she was not yet wed. Ditching her fiancé, Yi-joo seeks out our intrigued hero Seo Do-gook (Sung Hoon), proposing that he marry her instead of Yoo-ra. As the teaser comes to a close, we end on Yi-joo’s fierce resolve: “I’m going to put everything I have into taking revenge on them. I swear this to you.”

Written by Im Seo-ra (Feel Good to Die) with PD Oh Sang-won (Love ft. Marriage & Divorce III) at the helm, MBN’s A Perfect Marriage is slated to premiere on October 28 in the weekend slot.

I read this webtoon and was surprised to learn it was being adapted.

Honestly, this doesn't seem too appealing to me. It feels a bit like See You In My 19th Life to me; it feels showy and that but also somehow meh. Seems like it maybe a take it or leave it type show.

But who knows? I could be wrong.

I also think that 19th Life had WAY better source material. I dropped Perfect Marriage Revenge because, like most revenge manhwas, I became bored by it

I'm guessing MBN has taken all the time needed to make this one just as good.

I already do not like Yi-joo's current husband so I'm up for the time-slip to occur ASAP.

I'm happy to see Sung Hoon again. He's been scarce for the past year. Haven't seen him on variety shows or on YouTube.

This sounds a lot like the webtoon "Marry my Husband"... and look, I want to see her take revenge on these freaks + so many pretty people, but I'm not convinced I should commit time and energy on such a makjang ass plot...

It's similar to Marry My Husband in that it starts off fun but IMO gets boring because you know that the female lead will always, always win

As someone that has read both the novel and webtoon, I really hope the drama gives it the justice it deserve, as Kdrama writers tend to fail/disappoint with Webtoon Adaptations
