Premiere Watch: Nothing Uncovered

Time slot: Monday-Tuesday
Broadcaster: KBS
Genre: Crime, thriller, mystery
Episode count: 16
Global streamer: Kocowa

Reasons to watch: Poor KBS doesn’t know quite how to market this drama, from their difficulty in settling on an adequate English translation for the title (which in the Korean reads “Let’s grab each other by the collar”), to their tonal shifts in promotional material (see: posters). However, don’t let this scare you. Sometimes, it’s the dramas that struggle during their promotion cycle that turn into the more interesting fare, so I’m still rooting for the drama to bring something worthwhile to my screen.

With Kim Haneul playing a tenacious reporter who not only discovers her husband is having an affair (NOT AGAIN, DRAMA GODS!) to becoming a suspect in the mistress’s murder, the stage is set for a lot of conflict and intrigue. The wonderful Jang Seung-jo plays her cheating husband, while Yeon Woo-jin plays her ex-boyfriend and the cop who comes to her aid. And while the drama is clearly tagged as a crime-thriller, those bedroom posters suggest we’ll be leaning more into the relational side of this story, to which I say: yes, please.

TL;DR: Kim Haneul is in quite the pickle when she’s caught between two men and has a murder suspicion hanging over her head

At first glance thought it was Lee Bo-young - the MLs both look young for their age but will give it a go because 'thriller' and 'mystery'!

I also confuse between Kim Ha Neul, Lee Bo Young, Ha Ji Won.

They are all about the same age; that doesn't help. I think, if seen together they look quite distinctive but the drama promo pics are shopped so much...

Ha Ji Won I recognize right off the bat. Lee Bo Young I recognize because of Oppa and Kim Ha Neil - I have to look her up each time. 🤭

Looking for a drama about a cheating husband that eventually proves he is not a cheating husband.
I will probably watch this, though not promise to finish it, because Jang Seung-jo's soulful eyes notwithstanding.

Encounter and Strangers Again. Both starring Jang Seung Jo as the husband who did not actually cheat (lol). Third time is a charm, so his character might have actually cheated in this one.

I wish “poor” KBS would do the right thing and at the same time get a little “richer” by licensing NOTHING UNCOVERED to Viki.

KBS’s NOTHING UNCOVERED is now on Viki US’s “Coming Soon” list. Episode one aired today in SK.
(Since this is such a late arrival at Viki I am assuming the subs will come from Kocowa because I see no information at Viki about a Viki subbing team.)

The final line of Viki’s synopsis

And now, the three are deeply involved in serial killings .

At least they are up front… serial killings & a ex boyfriend cop….

Of course the ex boyfriend is a cop, it just wouldn’t work if he were a car mechanic or an accountant. 🙄🤔😉

Episode 1, the main character, an experienced reporter, enters a murder scene, gets the victim's blood all over herself and becomes the prime suspect. Thus, the entire plot of the drama bases itself on the main character doing something incredibly stupid.

I just stopped there. A drop for me.

I really love both the actors and I find Kim Haneul decent in her roles. I am really tempted to take this one. The only trouble is I am tired of the husband infidelity trope by now. It is becoming a staple now.
