Why is it that whenever Im ready to tentatively come out of a drama slump and watch something dramaland is like, nah homie? And theres just nothing at all Im interested in watching. Like, at all. Any recs out there? Kdrama or anywhere else drama. Im feeling tropey so if you have a noona romance, an enemies to lovers, forced cohab that you want to get off your chest, come tell it to me. The only thing Im watching right now is F4. And that is a drama meant to be binged so this one ep a week business is not the life for me. My favorite dramas are ISWAK, Fight for My Way, Comeback Ahjussi, INAR, Heart to Heart, Daljas Spring, 1% of Anything, and, Chicago Typewriter. Pretty Noona would be on this list if the back half didnt exist. But it does exist. So its not.
Eta: In a move surprising no one, I didnt take any of your advice and instead clicked play on a drama called Meeting You Loving You that started out weird and confusing but one of the hashtags for it is “the tsundre man that lives in my house” like I was physically capable of saying no to that. Theres lots of skinship during the theme song which makes me think the editors sre loke enjoy it now suckers cause its not happening in the show for a looooong time. But Im interested and have time so lets do this thing.
Kdrama made us to be used to 2 episodes by week, it’s hard when there is only one…
For recommendations for 2021 :
– She Would Never Know : it’s more a sunbae-office romance than a noona one, but I really liked the growth of the characters. There were the usual tropes but it surprisly worked with the story. The OST was really good.
– Our Beloved Summer : It’s enemies to lovers theme but as a patchwork story and not linear one. It’s not over by the way.
I did watch and enjoy She Would Never Know. So cute. I’ll check out Our Beloved Summer. I’ve seen the blurb floating around and have been meh about it, but if its good I’ll give it a go.
Also, didnt there used to be a very annoying video player that covered half the screen but convinced me I needed to rewatch Pinnochio and that one drama about the…actress and her dude–time traveler? lost in time? alien? He was totally an alien, guy. Now I think I should rewatch Pinnochio. I like the toast kiss. And I cant help but wonder, if Park Shin Hye comes back after having her baby and settling into married life–she has to be a better onscreen kisser now, right? I mean. Girls got practice in now!
Yes that one! Didnt love the ending there. But did the video player leave? I had My Love From the Star rec’d to me a dozen times over but was never interested. The video player did what Beanies could not.
Oh, Be Melodramatic has been on my list for so long I forgot that it was there. Maybe I’ll start there. I’ve never wanted to watch Age of Youth.
I did not like Mad for Each Other or Protect the Boss, But I do like the rest of that list…I’ll give Ho Gu’s Love a try!
I’ve never even heard of Sweden Laundry or Good Doctor so I’ll be sure to check those two out.
Everything else I’ve watched or super didnt want to. Thanks so much! I have so much to look in to!
did you watch Go Back Couple? It seems to have the vibe you are looking for.
If you like Rain, they got a road trip docu on Netflix, the hungry and the hairy. I couldnt watch because I want to go back to Korea. but it is good for those who are ok exploring through screen only
I do love Rain, he’s my one true bias to rule them all. But I dont like reality stuff like at all. As much as I love Jackson Wang (almost as much as I love Rain) I couldnt even sit through his reality show with all the cute babies. I didnt watch Go Back Couple, I tend to not like things that sound depressing and this sounded depressing and I really dont like time travel. And is this the drama where she gets reunited with her mom because her mom hasnt died in the past yet and she just gets to hug her a lot? I dont think Im emotionally equipped to handle this drama! Thanks for the suggestion, though.
Have you watched 9 End 2 Outs? It goes by several other baseball-related titles. Forced cohab, friends-to-lovers, late 2000s drama. I also second Tabong’s recommendation of Hogu’s Love!
Also, Our Beloved Summer. Enemies to ex lovers to *friends* (at the moment). I think you’ll either like it or be impatient with Yeonsu 😅
Yes you can interest me in a short ep count fast moving bickering leads in a forced cohab drama. Yes. You.CAN. Ill look for it tomorrow. I may actually go to bed at a human time today. Cross your fingers for me.
Mashiba Kurumi works as a publicist for “el Arco Iris”, an interior design company that is becoming popular with young people on social media. She’s a fashionista who cares a lot about her appearance and about what others think. She works hard to gain the admiration of her coworkers and boss, Hayama Shogo. Kurumi is so busy with work that she forgets to renew her lease on her apartment. Her friend Koko helps her find a new place… but it’s a share house with 3 strangers! There’s Fujino Shun, a minimalist chef who just wants to live a simple life. Then there’s Terai Haruto, Shun’s cousin who works as an online counselor to help people with their problems. Finally, there’s Hase Ayaka, an aspiring artist who makes contemporary art while working part-time as a delivery driver at a high-end supermarket. And so these people of different ages, occupations, and values come together under one roof. Though their personalities clash, Kurumi falls in love, deepens her friendships, and learns to take off her “armor” and live as herself.
It picked up a lot after the first ep. Im starting ep 6 in the morning. I like it. I really didnt care for the FL in the first couple of eps she seemed entitled and pushy. And I am hardcore shipping the artist and the counselor.
For me One Spring Night was what Pretty Noona should have been. It’s not the same story exactly, but it has the same vibe, the same main actor: Jung Haein, and the same writer/director duo. It’s not perfect but personally I liked it much better than Pretty Noona. If you loved the first half of Pretty Noona like I did, maybe you’ll enjoy OSN as well.
Also second Hogu’s Love. A very imperfect drama with a big heart. Choi Wooshik is great as the fool (the hogu) you can’t help but find more endearing than frustrating. The story is unique too. I have yet to come across a similar story in dramaland.
Oh I love that one and whats the adaption called with that damn sexy Ethan, My Queen? Yesssss maam. Love it. Except for Polar Bear and his assistant, of course.
Uncle. I binged 8 episodes in one night. For reference, I didn’t like a lot of the shows I started and was getting really frustrated until Uncle came along. Hope your slump will be over soon!
I think its permanent. Maybe my love of dramas iseaving me and its time to say goodbye and move on to something new. Or maybe it isnt Im watching a crack drama now where nothing makes sense and it fills my sould with giddy delight. What do I know? Uncle will go on The List!

Since you like FFMW, maybe ‘Be Melodramatic’ or ‘Age of Youth’.
Since you like Heart to heart and 1%, maybe ‘Mad for each other’ ‘Flower boy next door’, ‘Oh my Venus’, ‘Protect the boss’, ‘Ho Gu’s Love’
Since you like Comeback Mr and INAR, maybe ‘Oh my ghostess’, ‘Mr Queen’, ‘Still 17′, ’18 Again’,’Sweden Laundry’.
Noona romance:
Good Doctor
Enemies to lovers:
King2Hearts
Forced cohab:
Top Star Yoo Baek
Enemies to lovers + forced cohab:
Personal Taste
My Princess
