*aka words that trip the spam filter, like forbidden candy

Reposting a NEW UPDATED version of this. I will repost again at a later date after and if we find more.

Instead of posting a post, I will share a photo, that way you can see what is an I/W without me trying to get past the system with numbers and dashes, which, as you will see, becomes somewhat annoying. Please click on the photo to enlarge it if necessary.

If you know of any others, please share them as best possible in the comments below, and I will update my master list.

    In other news, I would’ve had 156 notifications from this hiatus had I had like notifications on, which considering that’s what I was getting at minimum daily once upon a time, is not that many, but that is also exactly why I don’t have like notifs on.

      Omo, as someone that freaks out when Gmail has more than 1 email “unread”, I think I would die after seeing my notifications say 100+.

        Same here. I am always surprised at how some people can have 2568+ unread emails (which is shown on their phone).

          The worst part is not being able to select all the unread emails and delete them, since you’re scared something important is there. 🥺

            I do think this conversation is funny.

            I actually only had about 43 notifs the time that this comment is referring to, because I was off db for two weeks on hiatus, but had left the My Dearest Recap just as it was getting busy, so I accumulated a lot while I was away.

            But I have had Like Notifications off since they were first introduced in 2017 on Dramabeans, because at the time, I was getting probably 100 likes minimum a day, plus conversation and normal reply notifications, and I would’ve been OVERWHELMED if I had kept them on. It was just too much.

            So I’ve had them off ever since then, except to test certain things, and calculated I would’ve had 156 notifs over that two week period if they were still on.
            In comparison to the past, not that many, but still would’ve been a lot to wade through.

            And I deliberately didn’t check or clear my notifs over that two week period, (that is, I left them unread) because otherwise I wouldn’t know how far back in my notifs to scroll and check, when I came off hiatus, if I cleared them but didn’t check them properly. Also if I’m not on db, I can’t see the little red marker growing 😉

            As for notifs regarding other things- it depends. My emails themselves are a mess, don’t look in there, (depending on which email we’re talking about though…) but I have almost every application on my phone muted and notifications turned off, and regularly clear the ones I do get, so my phone doesn’t show anything. I don’t like a messy phone. I also don’t have desktop or browser notifs on on my PC, except for a single program haha.

            Just to tease you both though, there was a point where the notification bell on DB had a weird number glitch, so once I tested how far up the notification bell would go, by turning my like notifs back on, and because I like pretty numbers, got to 1000… 🤣😂

            Hahaha, Sic, that’s crazy.
            If I saw that I have 1000 notifications I wouldn’t even check them. I would feel bad for any beanie that actually bothered to reply to my comment because they wouldn’t be getting an answer from me.
            Unless I click the bell and notice I actually have only 10 notifications, it wouldn’t work. If I keep scrolling and I don’t see an end I would be like “nope, bye”.
            Turning the like notifications on while being on hiatus or DB having a weird glitch would give me a headache.

            No, wait, I would also get the emails so it would be THE worst!! 🤣🤣

            1000 notifs would drive me crazy, but, say, ~50 notifs I think are checkable as it doesn’t mean all those 50 are replies. More than half of that should be “likes”, I guess.

            My phone has too many apps, and I once arranged them by colors as I thought it looked cool, oh my, I almost went crazy not being able to find the app I needed 😂

            Among the weird things about DB technicality, their notif emails must be the weirdest, as they are very random. I keep DB notif emails on but never rely on them to tell me what’s going on.

            Hahaha it was just for fun! And it was staged so fortunately there wasn’t much caught in those pages to miss.
            Also fun fact to make it easier for you: notification pages are 25 notifs long each, so you can use that to count back through large amounts of notifs.

            I also have my apps by colour ATM LMAO! I don’t always, but I thought I would just for fun. Actually I’ve got used to it now, but I did have to memorise what colour each was, which was a pain at the beginning ffddd. It’s not the most convenient though I agree.

            I think email notifications are fine if they’re only for comments. It also helps me with organization and I save time.

            Good think you didn’t have a lot to catch up.
            And thanks for the tip! I didn’t know we had 25 notifications per page.

    Oh, and, hot tip for people if you’re not sure if your comment will contain anything forbidden: develp a habit of ALWAYS copying your comment just before posting, just in case.

    At one point ‘thanks’ as a single word was banned but I haven’t tested it for a while. Tempted but then I lose precious AL points

      1. It hasn’t been for a while and 2. also you just DID test it. Quotations marks aren’t enough to trick the filter lol.
      Finland was briefly too, but idk if that was a fluke or not.

      Ack you made me remember something I missed too:
      Sometimes, everyone reading this, there will be some strange combination or formatting, symbols and or words that will trigger it,
      or unusual links, and finding exactly what is the IW here is difficult.

        If I remember it was just ‘thanks’ if it was by itself, not in the middle of a sentence. To stop people saying ‘thanks’ to reserve the top comment spot. This was also the reason that ‘first’ was banned for a while as well.
        Also I still think it’s weird that ‘spoiler’ isn’t banned while pairing it with the ‘a’ word is. But the Sponge whose name is probably Robert is the weirdest. I want to know how that ended up forbidden.

          Ahh yes- well, I did test it for you on my master post anyway by itself and it was still fine haha (since I am always willing to sacrifice points 😉 )

          All iterations that I have tested of spoiler, a spoiler, spoilers, etc have been taken off the hit list in recent times also, however.

          Raptor and the Sponge that shall Not Be Named are the most curious for me.

    Btw, some of you were talking about some points here, like losing points when trying to post IW? If possible, could you please tell me what it is?

      When you post an IW the little notification that comes up has a wee “-1” minus one next to it. There’s a theory that maybe that’s related to the leveling up algorithm, and that you get negative points somehow for posting IWs. But honestly I’ve no idea, and I don’t think anyone else does either haha.

    Thanks for this guide. It enabled me to quickly find my offending word. Once I “corrected” it to “specialize”, ie replacing the “s” with a “z”, even though it pains me, all was well!

    Exboppedipert also tricks the filter. But I am trying to post a new text and can’t, and don’t know why.
    Will try out a few words in the comments.
