Happy Friday , everyone!!! :)
I'm a relatively new kdrama fan (i only started watching dramas starting March 2009 when I saw My Girl, then fell into the trap of a BOF obsession!!!). right now, I'm in trying-to-watch-older-dramas mode (i.e. dramas before 2009 lol), and im torn on whether i should watch Flowers For My Life or Soulmates first. i think i should try out the classics like Winter Sonata as well. AND i'm still trying to finish Assorted Gems. hahah too many dramas too watch, but i wouldn't have it any other way! ;) HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND EVERYONE!

Last World Cup game this Sunday! I'm sad since I won't be able to drool over the ridiculously hot/cute players anymore :( I'm torn at who to root for: Spain or Netherlands. I mean, Spain has scrumptious players like Villa & Torres but they're also the reason why Germany lost! Never wear white, you're bound to lose (ex: Germany, Korea, etc) I wish Korea could have gone further this year but a I'm a
proud Taeguk Warrior regardless <3

& to end on a drama-relevant note, whats a good drama to watch lately? The last one I watched was Oh My Lady (blame school TT)

Dwyane, Bron and Bosh teaming up to try and take Kobe down. That's gotta be breaking news / front page / headline stuff in America now right? Good thing is that this team has no bench and no bigs to handle Pau and Bynum. Lakers win again in 2011.

"I’m sad since I won’t be able to drool over the ridiculously hot/cute players anymore"

I had no idea women actually watch soccer for the hot guys...most women I know hate soccer with a passion. Probably has something to do with their husbands / boyfriends staying up late every night and neglecting their duties!

HA! It's just the opposite in my house, my husband keeps saying "isn't it over YET?" I'm definitely the one neglecting the duties around here. I don't want it to end!

Yay my first open thread!

So sleep deprived :( All because I spent the night trying to find a good drama to watch...:(

World Cup weekend y'all!
@Jm126 I'm with you. I had a soft spot for Spain in the '08 EuroCup but they beat Germany! Made Muller make a sad face from the sidelines!
I'm still mad at that Capdevila fake out and Ramos' dirty tackling too.
I dislike Robben but I'm thinking I'll be backing l'Oranje this year.
Go Holland!!

This is going to make the next few days bearable until Coffee House is back on.
Starting to panic since I'm not seeing anything else that's catching my eye atm. What'll feed my addiction now?!

Oh, how are you naive! Of course women watch football and of course some of us likes it for the games and also FOR the players. Aren't there, like, specific online communities about this? I think the majority of, say, ontd football members are women. And there's a huuuuge fandom for football. Huuuuuge. I won't tell you much more because 1)I'm not very familiar with it 2)you'd probably end up like this >>> 0_o LOL

Well i'm a girl that really likes football jajja....I'm a fan of kdramas form 2009 like so and now i'm thinking what to watch,i need something funny that has also romance,i want to see Bad Family,i heard it's funny but also Assorted Gems
I think that You're Beautiful was one of my favorites because the story was light, not so hard to think about it,the mistery and all,was so funny and hilarious that i could't stop laughing all the time....When u are sad, tired it's just perfect, well for me it is,to see something so funny and innocent
Thinking now of inocent,i love kpop very much and had seen many shows with stars and most of the boys that are in their 20 are very innocent compered to us eurponeans..I'm from Romania and here u wouldn't see guys so innocent like them ever, here their type most are the playboy one,i like korean guys for that, that tpe of personality that they have, romantic, funny, cute also is something that here u definitly don't find...Here no boy act cute,it like gay, they all have that macho if i can say so...
At first really was so shocking to see guys in their 20's behave like them because i'm so used with the boys in my country but i'm in love with them, their personality, just my type... kjajja

Hey guys,
I'm also sad the world cup is about to end. I want the Netherlands to win!

In other news, did anyone see that Taeyang's new album charted on itunes?! It was #84 overall and #3 on the R&B charts, which is just amazing considering he sings in Korean...
From all the comments here it looks like I need to get on the coffee house bandwagon, but where does one stream it online? I don't think aznv has it.

Hello everyone! It is sweltering in London and so the bosses have kindly offered to pay for ice cream for everyone! YAY! My idea, of course, so I had the pleasure of going to buy the ice cream. I'm full of great ideas :)

Also, next door, at Potters Fields, they're holding another East Asian food festival so lots of Korean and Japanese food stalls. There's a company in London which is selling mochi ice cream balls. The toasted sesame ice cream mochi is YUMMO! Check them out if you're in the area.

31C today and for the rest of the weekend. It's going to be a scorcher!

Happy Friday!!!

For a short work week (w/ the July 4th holiday observance on July 5th), this sure has a been a LONG week.

still in a drama slump. i really need to pick up on Tamra, the Island... but i've got no motivation. I'm certain i'll like it now that I've seen Seo Woo in something (Cinderella's Sister).. and i wanna find out why Park Kyu has his own TEAM. ha!

i was looking forward to the return of SHINee this month, a little disappointed that their comeback is being postponed, but hopefully Minho gets better.. i mean, calf muscle rupture just sounds so painful.

@ twin

i bequeath you Puck.

Happy Friday everyone.

It has been raining non-stop (well since I woke up at 5am this morning) here in Toronto..... feels so BLAH. On brighter side this may make it a less humid weekend. Wish I don't have to make so many trips outside the office today.....so unlucky there.

@ oh! tht! chick! CH - OMG!!! Ep 12 was EPIC. I cannot wait for Monday. In a way I am also sad that this will be coming to an end soon.......

My Dutch friend(s) and one obsessed Spanish friend have invited me to watch football live on Sunday. CRAZY I tell you. Survival instinct is to completely leave town and avoid both parties for the weekend...hahaha..

@missbarb i would recommend soutmate, i've not seen the other one you mentioned but soulmate was one of the early kdramas that i watched. Its sooo funny and i found it to be pretty different from other dramas that i had watched.

So i started watching Dong Yi last friday and i'm now on ep 25, got pretty much hooked i'm loving! But i don't know whether or not its cos i've been watching it non stop but i've come to find certain things getting on my nerves. for example like the over acting for some of the characters, why does the queens brother have to make that annoying cheshire cat face and why does the head of the music dept have to walk like a robot?!
Also we know that Dong Yi is supposed to be this super sleuth, but how many times does a girl need to get chased down a dark alley by thugs before she realises that shes not super woman. I am loving the show though but we'll see if i feel the same after 50 eps

does anyone have the same annoyances?

Ohh just finished watching the Taiwanese Drama "Autumn's Concerto" - loved it! Amazing chemistry between the two leases (also eyecandy!) and the most delightful, cute child actor I have ever seen! Recommend it!

Now, does anyone have any drama recommendations with possessing/over-protecting people/blackmailed into a relationship "you'll stay by my side forever etc"...feel like a nice drama/melodrama after all the rom-coms and sageuk?

It's midnight here in the Philippines as I'm writing this.

I'm currently waiting for Coffee House Ep. 12 recaps. I don't mean to pressure Javabeans but I'm so excited to find out what she thinks of the episode. Personally, I don't think the episode's as good as the previous ones.

Anyway, I'm not watching any dramas except Coffee House. So what do you guys recommend? I'm thinking of staying within the rom-com range as Coffee House is breaking my heart already. I'm a JS/SY shipper, that's why.

Anyway, enjoy your weekend, guys!

Looking forward to watching " The last airbender" with my daughter this weekend...even though I heard so much negative feedbacks about it.

I just hope the weather will be great because we've been raining like crazy here in Texas. If the weather will be back...will look around for older dramas to watch..

Take care everyone...

Saengil Chulka Hamnida to Gong Yoo today,July 10th!!

My friends & I are in Seoul right now, in time for his birthday...we went to N.O.A. Entertainment agency but then Manager Lee informed us that he's not in Korea...so sad to learn that he's somewhere in Indonesia , after wrapping up his shoot in Delhi!!!
Our host @ our GuestHouse joked that perhaps we went to the wrong country!!!

Anyway..with or without our baby YOO...Seoul is such a beautiful city...we've made some great friends...everyone's sooo friendly & accomodating...the people are chic & fashionable...+ there's always a hot-looking Korean male in every corner!!! What else could we ask for? well, except for a little peek, at least of GY...what else!! LOL!!!

@26

Dong Yi is current my favorite after Coffee House. And it is all because of that horrible over acting. I have my roommate hooked on it to. He never watches dramas, but it is sooo bad it is funny. The plot is fine and engaging on a larger scale so it makes up sometimes for the lack of common sense the characters have. Dong Yi at episode 32 has yet to give up going down alleyways, but fights don't always happen in the darker places. :)

This show needs awards for most bugged out eyeballs with wide open mouths. Everyone is always shocked at everything. But my favorite is the older politician from the western faction. Every time he gets mad. He literally jumps up and down. And his stature is so small. It is really cute to watch this old guy get "hopping mad". The evil brother and his twisted dick dastardly smirks and tantrums are also to die for. It is more like watching a bad children's cartoon from the 80s.

Much love for Coffee House! I haven't seen any header for it yet, so I created one last night. And since I'm not busy here at work right now, I created another one. But I can't send this second version just yet; stupid web filter at work won't let me. :-( I can't wait to get home and send you this other version.

BTW, I used your screen caps, I hope you don't mind; they're for your headers anyway. :-)

soooooooooooo happy that SPAIN is playing at the WC finals!!! since the semi-finals was this week, i found myself with some extra time to catch up on dramas. last week, i caught up to dong yi. this week, i jumped on bad guy and coffee house. i must say that i like how coffee house is unfolding. bad guy, maybe because it hasn't passed its half-way point - so there's still lots of things to explain.

it's raining in toronto today. going to watch the wonder girls tonight!

Try twdramas Summer Desire (currently airing) and My Lucky Star for a set-up similar to Autumn Concerto's with the whole 'blackmailed into marriage' bit. They are both really good.

Try LAST FRIENDS- Its a j-drama and have unconventional love story. Here is the synopsis from WIKIPEDIA

She quickly becomes the victim of DV and is bullied at her workplace. Ruka Kishimoto is Michiru's best friend that works part time at a mechanic shop and is a brilliant motocross racer. She has a problem which she cannot confide to anyone and her worry becomes evident throughout the series. Takeru Mizhushima is a professional hair makeup artist by day and a bartender by night who suffers from a traumatic past. The three meet by chance and a journey of friendship begins.

Episode 1 of Hotaru no Hikari Season 2 is a big fat giant WIN. With flashing neon signs and confetti falling from the sky level of WIN.

I watched it with a giant grin from cheek to cheek, crying internal tears of happiness, and tearing up at the very last scene, when I screamed "Proposu? Kekkon! Ahhhhh", collapses from shock like that himono onna! It's like the gang never left, and yet they feel a dash older, wiser and more world-weary.

After the rancid Tsuki no Koibito, this has redeemed the J-season in my eyes. Now can I get a kiss-kiss soon. Please.... :-D Though Ayase has lost a bit of weight, she's looked very skinny. But Bucho is as perfect as ever~!

Happy Weekend Everyone!

Started to resume my K-drama viewing this week with Personal Taste. Currently I'm at Episode 6 when Jin-ho kissed Kae-in when he got drunk. I'm not a big fan of Son Ye-jin but when she appears in TV Dramas, I never fail to watch her act though I must say her best drama ever was her 2006 drama, Alone In Love which I really enjoyed watching though her acting here is still appreciated and I can relate to her character somehow...anyway Lee Min-ho is definitely good here as he really matured compared to his BOF role, though again of course this drama is different than BOF but I still wanted more from his character...will definitely watch the next few episodes this weekend to find that out ;) Also downloading Bad Guy but can't bring myself to continue it though its really a good drama, hated SBS when it delayed the drama's airing due to the World Cup ..I know I can watch it though after I'm done with PT

TGIF peeps!

Go Netherlands!!

My lil niece somehow broke my laptop when I took a bathroom break while I unattended supervision on her watching Veggie Tales from it. I have no clue what she did but I can't even power on my notebook. Sad case. I have to hog my bro-in-law's desktop to fulfill my Dramabeans addiction and some. Pahehe~ Any PC expert out there sparing noble advice?

Since my laptop seem to give up on me, I am behind on catching up w/ all these shows. I feel bad hogging my in-law's pc. So I've been shopping online for a replacement, and asking friends for recommendations to diagnose my sleeping [or dead] laptop. I'm so curious wanting to know exactly how my 1 y.o. niece "put a spell" on my laptop. LOL! *shakes head* I don't know about you, little kids always surprise me.

Opened my e-mail today and a friend passed me this funny video.
http://vimeo.com/12714406
Sharing the love! I'm sending this to my in-law for sure. ROFL!
