      Lan Xi Chen was the first shipper of Lan Zhan and Wei Wu Xian, and therefore he gets my nod. He was also, just plain a good guy. Not perfect, but willing to listen, learn, and bend when necessary.

      To be honest, if Wen Qin had survived, they would have made a good pairing.

            You are not the only one! I had actively tried to avoid this rabbit hole first half of my morning trying to watch a new drama. I ended up watching 12 episodes on FF within an hour. That show definitely did not hold my interest long.

            By late afternoon I was back to downloading the audio drama and checking twitter.

            Same, same! Upon @shach recommendation, I watched Arsenal Military. I think it’s a good drama but I think I’ve wasted it on too much FF. I just wanted to watch all the cute and funny bits with the main couple in it because I kept thinking of all the clips, videos and even any articles I can find. There’s some great write ups on tumblr too. Gosh!

            Who’s on Happy Camp? I know I’ve been living under the rock but I’ve never been a variety person. I think I watched more variety in these two weeks than in years!

    Is this as good as Ming Lan?

      It is a quite different kind of story. The Untamed is in the Xian Xia (fantasy wuxia) genre with Tolkien-esque grandness in its world building, and Ming Lan feels much more like a quiet Jane Austen novel.

      As much as I love Ming Lan and it was such a cracktastic watch for me, I am completely obsessed with the story The Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation The Untamed is based on. The experience of not only watching the drama, but loving reading the novel which brings more the fullness and depth to the story……and the audio drama which actualizes parts of the story that the drama did not (or was not able to) realize, and the beautifully made animation that brings some of the fantasy elements even more fantastical without the drama’s budget constraints.

      The drama is not as tightly executed as Ming Lan but it has so much heart and just as many wonderful characters with lots of depth. There is also enough story to justify 50 episodes. The beginning of Ming Lan is slow, and the beginning of The Untamed could feel confusing. I highly recommend reading the first few chapters of the novel before starting.

        somehow bai lu doesn’t impress me in this one.. xu kai..atleast he showed he can bring variety.. but the scorching chemistry is missing

          Same here re arsenal. I try to watch another drama but feel I’m in a stranger’s house. Then go back and watch a bit of Untamed and feel like I’ve come home.

          @alasecond Truth be told, when I first saw the pic, I couldn’t recognise my baby. I thought who did they put in there! Then, I realised it’s him but I didn’t like it. No, that’s an understatement. I got mad, furious at the wig maker. I had to stare at the pics and finally it sunk in, it’s him. I think the turning point was when I saw the pic with his smile – the one where he piggybacked Zhao Liying and gosh! His smile – I was completely, utterly gobsmacked. Suddenly I didn’t care about the hair anymore. Okay, it’s still a little too puffed up on the crown for my liking but I see why they did this – they had to do something very different from Lanzhan’s style. And they achieved it,he looks totally different!

    I loved Shi Jie the most. I always love it when female characters are portrayed like she’s portrayed, strong, resilient and have so much love to give.

    This post is just now slowly sinking in…Yes, I had forgotten one of the things I loved most about Untamed were all the sibling relationships and how deeply they were built emotionally with just a few words and a few scenes.
    Sorry to post so much so late but somehow I had lost this thread and hadn’t checked up on it for awhile.
    Today it’s 42-47 day.
