Beanie level: Eunuch in drag

Can’t remember crying over the death of a fictional king as much as I did with Lee Sung Min’s Lee Jae-Kang. It’s how well this drama portrayed the different faces of grief… It hurts all over again.

I dislike Ha Ji Won and her character here, and I hate the secondary villain storyline, but still the king’s story, and the ml’s love and shock and grief are so powerful that I rewatch this show again and again. And of course the secondary loveline doesn’t hurt either, but I honestly mostly rewatch for the brothers.

For me it’s the opposite– I disliked LSG’s character because he was such an ass with all the pranks he did to hurt not only Hang-ah but also other comrades during their training. I’ll give credit to LSG for making Jae ha layered– brutally honest at times, childish at times, heartbreakingly vulnerable at times, and all the other facets he showed that made this character real. On the other hand, I really like Ha Ji Won as an actress because she’s one of those that can really make for a badass FL, just like her previous character Gil Raim in Secret Garden. I also love Hang ah’s spunk and girly side. She was a strong woman–often only regarded as strong, missing the ‘woman’ part. Although she was hurt by Jaeha multiple times, she showed her strength by not backing down with his antics, often turning tables in her favor. As the king said, it’s okay because it’s her. Otherwise Jaeha wouldn’t have the same pillar of support from his other half.

I guess I have never been able to connect with HJW. I don’t like any of her roles.

Who can forget this beautiful love story? Still one of the best secondary love lines everrrrr

Actually, this is the only couple I’m interested in TK2H. JJS has travelled afar from What’s Up to TK2H to now Hospital Playlist. Just read that he reduced his pay by 30% in order to do HP. A big thumb up!

He was already an established and well-known musical actor before What’s Up. It’s actually the audience that have travelled far in appreciating his full worth.

This is the first I discovered he can act as a silly dork only wanting to sing and then go on to play an earnest royal gaurd equally convincingly.

    King 2 hearts?
Same here. And I found out he could sing so well too and yeah he acts great too and he’s the best secondary character ever.

It’s always fun to re-watch an old favorite and find familiar faces you didn’t know then. Like Kim Youngmin in The King 2 Hearts. So our duckling Manbok used to date Hang-ah. And he dumped her! Heh.

With Kim Go Eun and Park Bogum (and Kim Hye Soo)
Just one of Go Eun’s amazing roles so far. This one’s definitely a must-watch.

I second this!!! I just remembered I Want them in a drama together—they weren’t really an OTP here.

Some dramas you have to watch w/ suspension of disbelief. That’s how it is with The King Eternal Monarch.
I have resigned to the fact that I’m watching for Kim Go Eun’s acting & Lee Min Ho’s visuals

I wish I could watch it, tried twice, and failed.
But every single GIF and photo I see of LMH I just can’t stop saying: how can he be sooooooooooooo beautiful?

I think I love this livelier version of Jisoo. Heh.

Now watching: Extracurricular

I need to see this, but any other role this actress gets would be better that JiSoo. It’s not that complicated.

Jisoo-ssi, I see you chose to do some Extracurricular activities 👀

Despite how much I don’t like Jisoo at all, I will give this show a try.

She looks badass here. And full of life. I like this rebellious character… unlike Jisoo who always looked so glum.

If I had these best friends, I would have the same reaction.

Gosh. This show is killing me with its 1ep/week format. I need more.

Well your in for a treat (?) considering that tvN and the PD are going to make a second season. Shooting begins this November, and the main cast I believe signed a contract for them to come back. Supposedly the PD envisioned 3 seasons for this…

I was afraid Songhwa would hide her health problem from everyone and cause issues between them. Glad the show slapped me and showed me how wrong I was. Trust. Emotional support. Friendship.

Even the song was chosen perfectly.

Older songs are beautiful like that. They contain stories.

The first season of Youth Over Flowers featured veteran singer-songwriters Yoon Sang, Yoo Hee-yeol, and Lee Juck. The three of them have composed hundreds of songs that the production team probably didn’t have to agonize over what song to play in the background. Whatever situation it may be, they have the song. lol

I can’t get Je Te Veux out of my head these days. It translates to “I Want You”. That and Kang In-wook’s piano piece are both beautiful.

This one is a version used in Thirty but Seventeen:

The Battle: Roar to Victory

One thing I like about Korea is how they put importance in their history–whether in drama or film. I wish our country had more movies like this too.

It’s interesting. This writer is amazing. I wanted to know how close Myung yeo’s words were to the original so I searched it up and found that the inspiration was actually from a children’s book. Deep

“I will be alone tonight, but I won’t be lonely.
I will cut off the tips of my five fingers
and draw a staff with my blood.
And tonight, I will shed tears.
The first glass is for you, who left me.
The second glass is for me, who is already so pathetic.
Another glass for our eternal love.
And the last glass is for the Almighty who foresaw…
and decided everything in advance.”

My 14-day quarantine is almost over. I’m not ready to live in the hospital again for the next 2 weeks.. For now I’ll find comfort in this alternate reality where doctors can have fun like old times~

Sorry, I just find this funny

Nobody Knows x Memorist

I have not watched Memorist, but Nobody Knows has been an excellent show so far! The recaps have also been very good. The disappointing number of comments don’t indicate anything about the show quality.

Oh. I wasn’t looking at the comments at all. I just found the screenshots funny. Like they were the ones talking to each other. Lol.
I have been watching Memorist and it is a pretty decent show if one likes thriller/action dramas. The supernatural side needs suspension of disbelief. Hehe.
From what you’ve said, maybe I’ll give Nobody Knows a try. I’ve also seen some good comments about it. 👌

haha okay that. didn’t strike me. I’ve just been feeling awful for Nobody Knows, because nobody knows how good it is :/ It’s in the same genre, but no supernatural element (thankfully)!

It rarely happens, you know.. To be able to feel one’s pain through someone else’s eyes.

PMY and SKJ were both amazing in this scene.
HaeWon sadness and despear was so immense. She was suffering so much, and she could only turn to the one she feels safe now. And EunSeob as someone who’s been suffering so much and who can relate to that feeling.
His eyes were just telling us, I know were your are.
