it was quite a labor of love (because it is very, VERY long…), but worth it especially for those who are keen to learn more about the references from that time, particularly because of the ‘newtro’ trend in South Korea 🙂 let me know your thoughts or your fave song/book/poem/movie reference! thanks to this drama, i discovered Light & Salt (빛과소금), and really enjoy their song ‘Do Not Leave My Side (내곁에서 떠나가지 말아요)’.

and an appreciation post for one of my fave secretaries: When My Love Blooms’ Secretary Kang. thank you for being such a great support to Jae-hyun always. (and i forgive you for that hotel mention…)

It was really nice to see a secretary whose job is appreciated by his boss and who could speak frankly to him. I really liked their relationship.

I did that last year and it was totally worth it !!!
Hopefully, when this pandemic is over, you’ll get a chance to come to Canada and visit Quebec city and do a wonderful Goblin tour (on your own or with a group)

Ohhhh thank you for this! I never looked into this drama because I have a weird dislike for Seo Kang-joon (reason unknown) although I really liked the title. I’ve read up to number 2 (will read the rest once I catch up/or decide to drop it) from your link and I love it! I now feel like checking it out knowing it includes beautiful literature! Thank you!

One thing! There are some lines from To the Daffodils that were not translated though and some lines were mixed up. I personally liked this part:

    눈이 오면 눈길을 걸어가고
    비가 오면 빗길을 걸어가라

When it snows, you walk on a snowy road
When it rains, you walk down a rainy path

    2

hi @earthna! thanks for the heads up. the lines were mostly taken from the subtitles (based on what was translated from the show), so some parts may not have been read out. we’ll relook at that part though!

and yes, hope you give the show a chance 🙂 it starts off a little slow, but it has a rhythm that’s perfect for winter.

I finished reading your post. Thank you again for introducing me to this drama! I never knew because of viki’s censorship about what poems they read and omg! I’ve read the poem Me, Natasha, and the White Donkey as a carving on a stone at Gilsangsa Temple in Seoul! I just got goosebumps! Lol. I read about Baek Seok to refresh my memory and the article I found said he is Kim Younghan’s lover. She is the person who donated the place so it can be renovated as a temple. Ir’s strange that out of all his poems, this one got placed in Gilsangsa, unless Natasha is also Kim Younghan. Hmmm

It’s actually going at a pretty quick pace, the plot—but without sacrificing development of the characters and is still giving opportunities for the viewers to feel and stay emotionally connected with the characters—which is what I like 😁😁😁

        1

yes, i’m quite glad it hasn’t lost that despite moving at such a fast pace! can’t wait to keep watching!

I’m really looking forward to what you guys will find out about Crash Landing locations! I think they may have used Mongolia for NK? I wondered if it was too difficult to find areas of SK that are undeveloped (but we see them all the time in sageuks, so …). Maybe they got ppl money from Mongolia!

hi @bbstl! so far the locations we’ve uncovered are mostly those in Switzerland and within SK. Marion’s the one watching it so i’m not super privy… but we’re happy to look more into it 🙂 happy 2020 in advance!
