Beanie level: Errand boy

Beanies, is there a rule that I’m missing about watching stuff on your own device in your own space in a public place?

I was watching Long Time, No See (https://mydramalist.com/26024-long-time-no-see) at the Community Center on Monday waiting for my sons while they swam – hunched over my ipod (small screen) with my backpack in front of me. To see my screen you’d have to be right up next to me, look over my shoulder and straight down, pretty much right up in what I feel is my personal space. This late-middle-aged woman (I say that as someone who will be 50 in a few months) felt she could get offended by what I was watching – two guys being “arty senusal” in bed together (nothing explicit, I’m not an idiot to watch porn in public). She was huffing and puffing and making little offended “Uh!”s, when I looked up she was looking at my screen. When I asked her if I could help her with something she was all flustered and said “NO!” and stalked off. Am I wrong in thinking that as long as I wasn’t public displaying it, trying to be respectful and keep it out of general view, people have no reason to be upset? Especially if you have to go out of your way to see what it is I’m looking at (which she did, I was really keeping my ipod screen out general view).

That’s what I thought, but I’m out of touch with social rules. I see people displaying their ideos in varying degrees in public, some people have it right out, other people keep it down and out view. I generally keep it out of view no matter what I’m watching.

I watched Long Time, No See in a Rabbit watch a month or so ago and really liked it.

I once read American Psycho on the tube and thought I’d be mortified if anybody would read over my shoulder at the language and events. In contrast, this drama was a bit more explicit than your average kdrama but there was nothing in there that I would embarrased to watch in public.

She was probably flustered for lusting after two men young enough to be her sons, in a public space. Are you sure you didn’t misinterpret her ‘huffing and puffing’ lol

She sounds like a garden variety homophobe. You weren’t watching anything harmful and you weren’t imposing it on other people. She can “get tae fuck” as they say in my locale.

If they do a Korean remake, I would prefer that it follows the novel’s structure. The novel begins when the hero/heroine reconnect after the hero returns from being abroad for 3 years. The high school/college years were done as flashbacks and side stories. The benefit of this structure is that it seems like the hero is the one chasing after the heroine for the bulk of the story. The heroine is only chasing after the hero in flashbacks, so she doesn’t seem as pathetic.

I liked the novel, but it seemed like a whole different story. What I didn’t like about the novel is how grasping XiaoXi comes across. She wasn’t that materialistic in the series.

Which is great for me as I have been having a hard time finding them all an well subbed.

This cameo is well giffed by now, but I saw this and felt compelled to share. Either that or eat chocolate, and I have no chocolate.

Beanies, as you know I quest for fanfiction for dramas I like, then share what I think are the good ones. This weekend’s quest was for HIStory2: Crossing the Line/Boundry Crossing FFs. I found some at AO3 (https://archiveofourown.org/tags/HIStory%202%20Crossing%20the%20Line/works), nothing earth shattering. However, over at Wattpad (I really do have issues with their UI), i found others, one of which I’ll recommend to fans of HIStory2: Crossing the Line/Boundary Crossing (I haven’t read the others yet).

Crossing the line (fanfic)
https://www.wattpad.com/story/144480360-crossing-the-line-fanfic

Takes place after the series is over (but, oooh!!, they’re making a sequel apparently).

From the description page:
“This is a fanfic of one of my favourite Taiwanese Bl series (Crossing The Line). if you haven’t watched it yet….then plzz do watch it, as and when you get the time.

This is my take on what happens after the series ended with Qiu Zi Xuan accepting Xia Yu Hao. Let me just give you a gist of what the series is about.

Xia yu Hao, a junior high school student is a stubborn guy who has temper issues. He transferred from his previous school for getting into a fight with the other students. He has no interest whatsoever in Volleyball even when the team captain insists him to join the team.

Qiu Zi xuan, a senior student is the former spiker and Star player of the volleyball team. Due to a knee injury he is no longer able to play the game and thus he becomes the manager of the school’s volleyball team. He is the total opposite of Xia yu Hao, calm and cool. A man of few words who seldom expresses himself.

The series goes around the story of how these two boys having total opposite personalities, come together and share their love for volleyball. Slowly and steadily Xia Yu Hao finds himself not just falling in love with the game but the manager of the volleyball team as well.

Note: I do not own or take any credit for the characters of the story. They belong to the writers and producers of the series.

Neither do I take credit for the images and gifs used in this fanfic. They have been taken from Google and Instagram. No copyright infringement intended. They have been used only for the purpose of giving a depth to each chapter.

However please note the whole and sole owner of this story is ‘ME’.

Story commenced on 7th April 2018 and still going strong :)”

Incomplete, but a lot of chapters so far, some of them MATURE – read the tags at the front of the fanfic to get the idea.

I finished HIStory: Crossing the Line this morning – I couldn’t wait until Monday’s trip to the pool – I LOVED IT!! The acting was a little stilted, but the story was so sweet! I lovelovelove the way no one freaked out about the relationships, even the sister (I think I would be more upset if my love interest wanted my brother instead of me). I have never seen same sex relationships or feelings portrayed in a drama with such sensitivity since Secret Garden.

Today is a weird day – I lie, it’s been a weird week – I’m doing the whole “I’m not crying, my eyes are leaking…” thing as I’m overwhelmed by lack of sleep and stress. I’m having a hard time concentrating on stuff, I want a change from the usual things I watch (forget reading, I can’t go past 3 pages before my brain shuts off). I remember a group of Beanies watched HIStory2: Boundary Crossing, so I added it to my ipod to watch while waiting for my sons to swim at the community center pool. I really like it! I’ve never had any interest in BL stories, not for any other reason than it didn’t really cross my path. But since the whole KO/Mei storyline in Love O2O, I’ve actively sought it out. I’ve gotten to halfway through Episode 4, I love watching them fall for each other. And honestly, he loves his sister way too much if he’s going to eat *those* lunches. BLEH!

I liked episode 1. I edited an end theme video since i couldn’t find one on youtube already done. The Subway PPL kills me, though.

Oh the Subway gets even better. I have to give them credit for the integration though, it makes more sense in context than most.

Personally, I can’t look at Subway since I got very ill after eating one of their subs. So every time I see the sign, my stomach slightly clenches, lol!

BEANIES!! I can’t remember who asked me for it, but I found a site that has the Coffee Prince novel translated over 2 webpages:

Part 2)

Sorry, sorry to take so long to get back to you. Yes, it was a novel first, then the drama. I had gotten it a few years ago – an incomplete copy – managed to cobble together a complete copy through tumblr after about a week. I was asked a couple of months ago about it, but I don’t like to upload things I shouldn’t (not my work so I feel weird about it). Yesterday I stumbled on a reddit link with the (what I think is) the complete novel.

It was pretty good. It actually did a decent job with the whole time slip thing (carried it through to the end!!!), and it did drag a little in the early stages, but it’s one of my favorites.
Plus Lego Lee is amazing. It’s worth watching for his acting alone, nevermind the chemistry between the leads.

I just started this drama and I’m liking it so far. Male lead is hilarious, he reminds me of Joo Jungsuk.

I’d recommend this too! Lego Lee’s character is such a loveable jerk and Nikki Hsieh’s character is badass cute. Great chemistry btw them and i like how the time slip enhanced the story.

Oh you should. You’ll love the scenes when the timeslip first happens and they don’t know what’s going on. Lego Lee really does a great job playing two versions of one person.

Oh, when he gets to turn on the charm!!! And his other persona isn’t, shall we say, ready yet 😂

    What drama is that?

I really enjoyed this one. Would totally recommend it — they have really good chemistry here too, and I the time travel had rules that made sense and there end worked pretty well. Plus, there were a few good twists throughout the story which made it feel like you could never predict where the story was going.
