        they’re better than nothing, so in one sense, you can’t complain, but then you realise that *they’re* the reason you don’t have options. As I was watching Pretty Noona, there were lots of small inaccuracies in the translation (where meanings were unnecessarily reduced, rather than keeping their character), but there were a number of places where they downright made stuff up. It fit in the context but it wasn’t what was being said. So if you didn’t know a word of Korean, you wouldn’t know they just substituted a whooole different thing in, in place of what was actually said. When my sister was watching Black on NF, I was constantly retranslating stuff for her because they left so much out. They drive me actually nuts. Ugh. They don’t seem to have a particularly rigorous system in place for foreign language translations – I swear they’re not even proofread. They seem like the work of a single translator, and if they’re overseen by an editor of any kind, it certainly doesn’t show.

            It is so annoying when translations leave things out or just make a completely different phrase up that is so not what the original was! Ugh, I really don’t like that. I think Dramafever used to do that waaaaay back in the day, but thankfully they’ve stopped. Viki is usually really great. I haven’t had a chance to check out On Demand Korea’s subs yet since I usually watch everything raw over there. But from the few I have seen with subs, I think they are alright.

      Yes, I’m also looking forward to Jang Dong-gun’s portrayal of Harvey’s role. He has a nice eye-smile so I’m definitely giving points to that XD

          I definitely recommend watching the first season. The first episode was so epic that I just continued watching the rest of the episodes. The bromance is sooooo strong on this show.

      I watch, laugh, sigh, wonder why random characters meet and give each other deep advice (I’m looking at you TH’s mom and SH and your meaningful random conversations).

      I think there was one episode where all the plot development was with with the parents and all the cutesy nothing scenes were with TH and SH. Maybe the two episodes ago? I was all like…um, whose drama is this? The parents or the kids?

      No need to start or the first two episodes will pull you in and then you’ll expect the same level of sinister fun for the rest of the show, but it immediately drops off the next two episodes never to return again. Now it is just a gravy train of crazy….which is a kind of fun in itself.

    The writing start off so well IMo. Enjoy the first 4 episode. I think it must be to do with the pressure from the board to increase rating. So the writers mess up with something between the line a story she want to tell, and the pressure to increase rating, public acceptance.

    Oh I’m glad I’m not the only one. This show is kinda like these kids–slick, beautiful, moments of brilliance, but really at the end of the day just one hot mess.

    I’m kind of like Se-Joo when he saw Shi-Hyun after the weekend and was like “Ooh, I missed your nasty side.” I just like when they all get together and start slinging barbs. Let’s just focus on that.

    I know right. It is not as if there is no source material. Even if the writers wanted to reinvent the story, there are still “training wheels” to guide the story as it goes along. I don’t mind tweaking – welcome it actually – but I just don’t get the purpose here.
    Still watching though – just like you cos Si Hyun is mesmerising!

      It really makes me think that they only used the initial story to grab people interest but then switched to whatever they wanted to do in the first place. Kind of like they wanted to do this adult romance between a CEO and a ceramic artist but MBC was like, no. So they pitched the Seducer story and tried to make it fit with their other story line.

      I’m still not sure about this variety show but so far it is interesting. So Ji Sub is in a tiny house in Jeju and Park Shin Hye is in another tiny house somewhere in Jeju. They are basically opposites. He is already a minimalist and she is the opposite of that, so we get to see how they both handle minimalism and living in the middle of nowhere.

    I’m over the moon since two out of my ultimate biases hardly ever appear on variety. Kim Woo Bin is receiving treatments, Heechul was my only hope but now that Oppa has joined this show and I’m… gahhh 😁🤩🤯

            Ah, so the rumor is that Netflix got it huh? If you don’t mind illegal sites then you could try AQ stream to watch it live. I’m not sure which AQ stream works but a lot of Soompiers use that site to watch live.

            That super stinks. I hope Netflix changes it’s method in regards to Korean dramas. I like that they are in the game since a lot of European fans can watch drama’s now, but they should definitely rethink their plan for the US audience.

Also, has anyone heard anything about The Great Seducer? Is it going to be something like a first 16 episode Open Thread? Only asking because there is an icon but nothing else has been posted since the first episode. Maybe the first 2 episode recap is the Open Thread? Just thinking out loud here.

    Misty had a catch-up OT for the first six episodes, but since The Great Seducer got a proper first episode recap and nothing has followed, I think the DB team ended up not covering it. They were probably intending to but maybe issues with who to cover it cropped up.

      I think you’re right. Maybe they wanted to cover it but the weeks just snuck up on them. If it is Lollypip that was going to cover it, then I can see why she would be a little behind. She is covering a lot of drama’s right now.

      I am holding out hope that it is Eun-joo somehow. if I wasn’t recapping it then i would probably wait to watch the next two episodes and just read the recap on DB. If the recap showed good news (i.e. TW is not the killer) then I would watch it. I am so wimpy that way 🙂
