Dramabeans 5-Year Anniversary Giveaway #3

girlfriday: Week three of the blazin’ birthday giveaway extravaganza extraordinaire!

javabeans: You know what that means: More presents! Man, what a spoiled 5-year-old Dramabeans is.

girlfriday: Right? If DB were a kid, we’d have one needy brat on our hands.

javabeans: Then again, most 5-year-olds receive presents, and DB’s giving ‘em out. Although I don’t know who gave that kid my credit card info.

girlfriday: Is that what’s going on? That explains a lot. This time we’re giving away a brand new iPod nano, but that’s not the best part. It’s chock full o’ goodies! It’s got a Javabeans Playlist on it, which I’m gonna venture to say is worth more than the player itself.

javabeans: We’ve also got a few more premium memberships to give out to Dramafever, in case you want to get friends/siblings/parents addicted to your drama poison of choice. Because as we know, drama addictions are best shared, not cured.

girlfriday: Yeah, rehab’s for quitters, and we’re no quitters!

javabeans: So get crackin’! By which we mean, please post up lots of nice thoughts for our many many guest posters over the years.

girlfriday: They know how much we appreciate them, but as we know from personal experience, sometimes the warmest thanks comes straight from you guys, so please be generous with the love!

And the winners of Giveaway #2 are…

  • Bethany, winner of a one-year premium subscription to Dramafever,
  • PrincessSerenity81, winner of a one-year drama membership to Crunchyroll,
  • and Bluefyre, winner of one $100 gift certificate to Yesasia.

Congratulations! We’ll be contacting you shortly via email. On to the next one!

Giveaway #3

Question: Actually it’s not a question this time, but a prompt: Thank a guest blogger, any guest blogger. That can mean any of our current contributors (i.e., gummimochi, kaedejun, HeadsNo2) or anybody who’s ever written a guest post on Dramabeans in the past. (*Don’t forget to use a valid email address, and please indicate at the bottom of your comment if you are NOT a resident of US/Canada.)

Prizes:

  • 1-year premium membership at DramaFever (US/Canada residents only)
  • another 1-year premium membership at DramaFever (US/Canada residents only)
  • an iPod nano (maybe with some stuff on it, wink-wink).

DramaFever offers free legally-licensed dramas and movies with high-quality English subtitles. With a premium membership you can watch unlimited, commercial-free, and enjoy extra content as well as unlimited mobile device access and high-definition. Check out recently added titles here.

Winners announced: Sunday, January 22, at 8pm, Pacific Standard Time*

*Or, 10pm in Mexico City, 11pm in NYC, 1am in Buenos Aires, 4am in London, 5am in Paris, noon in Singapore and Manila, 1pm in Seoul and Tokyo, or 3pm in Sydney and Vladivostok. Okay, you get the point. (You can refer to this handy Time and Date converter to find out what this is in your time zone.)

Thank You Samsooki!!
I love your eloquent story telling. Also, for making me watch My Name is Kim Sam Soon. I know, I'm way late watching Sam Soon. it is part of that i was scared that it'll turn out bad or the jokes is not my kind of joke and part of so many things to watch.

Thank you Gummimochi!
loving the weekly dose of high kick. High kick is too much for me to take at once, so i always read your / Javabeans recap before deciding which episode to watch.

Thank you Kaedejun!
For all your love k-pop and making me a fan.

Who to start with? Thank you gummimochi for High Kick 3! (and javabeans, of course), I always watch the episodes while reading your recaps cause I love to know what you're going to write. Thank you Thundie! I loved CYHMH mostly because of your recaps (even if it's been ages since you last posted here ^^). And of course Santa Claus! I do agree that it would be interesting to have a man's POV around more, but oh well.
And I'm not from the US.

cassie.opeia and red pill, thanks for recapping Sungkyunkwan Scandal! I LOVE that drama, and so I thank you two for recapping it. I remember the subs were so slow & poorly edited when I was watching, so your recaps made the drama much more enjoyable & understandable.

I'd venture to say Thanks to ALL your guest bloggers thus far. It's always great to read different well written pieces in different perspectives.

kaedejun specifically for recapping a lot of the less popular dramas that normally wouldn't get recapped.

HeadsNo2 for an awesome Padam Padam halftime report I thoroughly enjoyed. As well as the Salaryman recaps!

orangy911 for the Me too Flower recaps :)

Gummimochi for the High Kick recaps

Honestly being in med school makes it really hard to watch or even check out a lot of drama I would normally try to follow so I really appreciate getting to at least experience and follow dramas throught the screenshots and recaps!

Thanks to Samsooki for the Kim Sam Soon recaps. I'd alread seen it, but I enjoyed it again through the recaps and actually caught things that I missed on the first go-round.

I love all the guest bloggers here, though. I just love you guys and the whole package!

Thank you to all the guest bloggers, and especially HeadsNo2 who always seems to recap the dramas I'm currently loving - i.e. Tree With Deep Roots, History of the Salaryman, Wild Romance and Padam Padam. I love your writing style, which is both funny and articulate.

Also, thanks Samsooki for your epic and unforgettable City Hall recaps.

gummimochi, thanks for sharing the laughter -- I'm always excited to see your Running Man recaps, and I'm happy to see the recent addition of High Kick recaps as well ^-^*

To the dramabeans family of recappers, thanks for your hard work & time. It's always great (and cathartic in a way haha~) to learn what someone else's (in depth) thoughts are on something I've watched or thought a lot about ^^;; Happy 5th Year Anniversary<3

Can I say thank to 2 guest bloggers at the same time? Samsooki, I read your recap for City Hall and I loved it so much, only to find that you also posted them on DB. Duh! I was very impressed with your thoughtful comments and your detailed analysis.
orangy911, thank you for recapping Me Too, Flower! That was my latest obsession...

Thanks HeadsNo2.

I don't know what I would have done without your "Tree with Deep Roots" recaps. It was one of my all-time favorites of 2011, but I had a hard time piecing everything together as I watched it with/without subs. I went crazy trying to find something that could appease my need to figure out what was happening in the drama, and your recaps did just that! Your recaps allowed me to understand the plot a lot better and let my mind stay at ease.

Now, I'm also currently watching the other dramas that you're currently recapping as well: The History of the Salaryman, Wild Romance, and Padam Padam. Thank you for recapping those dramas as well! It saves me some confusion, and entertains me at the same time~

-------------------------------------------------------------

I really want to thank you--as well as all the other recappers--for all the effort that you've put into this. I /do/ actually read all of the recaps. ;) I've also tried to recap dramas, but I have to admit that I don't have the talent to write as well as you all. Recapping is a lot harder than what I had always thought it would be ;A;

Thanks for all of your hard work.

THANK YOU GUMMIMOCHI:
for satiating my weekly High Kick 3 addiction. I'll brave the cold to walk to the library and watch High Kick 3 episodes every day, even though they're in Korean, which I don't understand. I'll eagerly anticipate what you have to say Saturday nights, and the beloved characters's stories will be solved. I'm eternally grateful, thank you so much.

THANK YOU KAEDEJUN:
Indirectly, I've gotten acquainted with your words by one day reading Prosecutor Princess caps for fun. I am also grateful for your hard work on the What's Up! recaps. I've eagerly read them to see how the lovely Kim Ji-won is doing. Thank you for your quirky writing and effort!

I wrote about two guest cappers that I truly appreciate every week. I hope that's alright. Thank you both!

Since i don't quite have the time to watch the full episode, I read them and I have to commend you that just by reading your recap, I enjoy it just as much...plus I really enjoy your writing. :) thanks, you're awesome.

Kaedejun and all the other guest writers, you guys equally rock for what you do.

Let's see...

I must definitely give props to kaedejun first and foremost. Simply watching The Musical through its entirety is a feat unto itself. But recapping it, too? Well done, well done! Also, I may not have loved Romance Town or YFFM, but I definitely appreciated your recapping them.

Also - only1tony, thank you for writing your reviews for My Sassy Girl and Ajusshi. They are two of my favorite movies, and you did them justice.

samsooki: LOVED your Sam Soon recaps! And I plan on watching City Hall soon after reading your first episode recap.

Thank you kaedejun as you are oh so quirky and reading your recaps are ALMOST equivalent to reading javabeans' and girlfridays'.

Lastly, but not least, THANK YOU javabeans for creating this amazing blog 5 years ago. Now I have an online place to call home and an open thread family. And of course can't NOT mention your and girlfriday's supercalifragilisticexpialidocious-ly intriguing recaps and personalities which I would love to meet and practice my Korean with someday!

To me it has to go to Thundie! I thought that I had been the only one who had seen Jengungwon The Hospital. When I read Thundie's end of year review I felt thrilled because she was able to put into words how special the show is. Reading her post brought to me memories of the time that I would see the drama. I remember every Monday and Tuesday never missing any episode. Going to the internet just to find any information about the drama.
A special shout out to Santa Claus without your brilliant recap of Bad Guy I would have gone insane.

I can sit and watch it on TV without subtitles, and guess at what's happening- but then I can read gummimochi's recaps later on and find out what really went on! So much fun to see the pics and follow along. Some day I want to go watch them film the show- that has got to be the craziest times ever!

I would like to extend a very heartfelt thank you to every single guest blogger! You have all done an extraordinary job! But my personal favorite guest bloggers are Sevenses & Dahee_Fanel! Thanks to them I was able to enjoy some very wonderful Beethoven virus recaps back in 2008, and some wonderful and witty year-end reviews since then as well!

I would also like to thank Javabeans! I have been a fan of your writing since Dalja's Spring recaps brought me to your wonderful site.. and then coffee prince made me totally addicted to it! You have created something wonderful! I can hardly believe I have been checking dramabeans everyday single day since 2007.. that's 5 whole years!! Damn, time sure flies!

Also, I know she has her own website, which i check out, to maintain. Thank you, kaedejun, for doing double duty and putting your share of the work on both this site and your personal one. You're awesome and I love your News Bits!
