Wangji’s public confession at Koi Tower is probably one of the favorite romantic and heartfelt scene in this drama, but personally I love this little, blink-and-you-miss-it display of support during the last confrontation with Jin Guangyao. By this point, I know that most people have already forgotten the slander and judgment they threw toward Wuxian years ago. He was now back as another unique hero in their midst, and they worshipped him anew after the second siege at the Burial Ground where he basically saved their unworthy a**. But deep down, I don’t think it’s easy for them to forget how powerful and potentially dangerous Wuxian was. I’m sure they never stopped being wary of him making another unexpected choices.
In this particular scene, it was the first time in a long while that Wuxian was finally reunited with both his Cheng Qing flute and his legendary Tiger Seal. And after everyone witnessed how powerful he was with his whistle alone (even with his lacerated throat), it’s probably to be expected how alarmed they were when Wuxian started to make his move. Apparently, not even the non-judgmental and very understanding Lan Xichen was immune to that. He sharply called out Wuxian’s name, a mix of warning and pleading in his voice. And you can just see how Wuxian sighed internally at this lack of belief.
But then Wangji shook his head toward his brother. Because he was confident in Wuxian’s ability to control the infamous spiritual weapons. Because now he understood Wuxian’s principle and moral very clearly. He calmly nodded his support toward Wuxian. And that little gesture made Wuxian’s smile bloomed: relief and gratitude mixed with a bit of wonder because this guy still steadfastly stood by his side no matter what.
Thank you and thanks for still sharing your thoughts. Glad you’re back with your untamed obsession – I’ve never yet left (though I’ve tried). Thoroughly enjoying the Netflix version and their “unusual” subtitles.
Keep posting…(I don’t notice many gifs for the first half of the drama, hint, hint).
It’s Heaven Official’s Blessing’s fault (plus real life persistently leaving me no free time these last 2 weeks)! That’s the latest novel from The Untamed’s writer, btw. And it was so good that I was engrossed in it for a while. Fortunately (or unfortunately?) I still need to wait for 1-2 years before I can watch the drama and audio drama adaptation, so I’m back with my Untamed obsession.
oh HOB is way more epic..
and trust me.. if they manage to find perfect casting for the male lead in that one.. that guy will beat stardom of WY and LZ (together)
@alasecond While reading the book I kept trying to think of the actors I know who would make a perfect Xie Lian and Hua Cheng and I can’t think of anyone I was satisfied with 🤔
Maybe they need to just do casting auditions to find the perfect leads.
I thought I already have difficulty letting go of WangXian, but HuaLian is on another level altogether. And the story is so much more coherent (for once, I didn’t even feel the tiniest amount of confusion or annoyance at the long flashbacks) and tightly written. At the risk of sounding prudist, I have to admit that I love how subtle (but deep) the romance in HOB was. Maybe subtle isn’t the right word, but I do like the feel of not being turned into a CCTV even in their extra chapters.
I am obsessed with HOB. I am not quite finished (have 10% left of the novel according to my kindle) but I even snuck away during work too many times to read a little before getting back to work, I keep staying up too late, I spent almost my 3 day weekend reading the book 😅
I actually want to hurry and finish so I can get some sleep.
she is working on her 4th novel.. but again there was news of crackdown on BL authors.. so no idea if she stopped working on her novel or is still at it..
based on her snippet of what 4th novel is going to be.. i’m very curious. because ML is a bad guy 😛 .. truly the worst.. that’s enough to get me excited
Based on your and other Untamed Beanies’ comments, I just started HOB the other day. Still on the first couple of chapters but it is promising! I’m not hooked yet, but that’s probs bc I’m still rewatching the Untamed and in love with Wangxian. haha
omg, I am currently obsessing over this novel! I have successfully stayed up until 2am (I usually go to sleep at midnight because of work) and I spent my whole 3 day weekend in bed reading this. I can’t put this book down. There are things I like more about The Untamed but I think ultimately HOB is the better book. And it’s a HUGE book! I am almost to the end now.
I wanted to screengrab or make gifs(tedious) of so many moments in the final stretch. WWX’s a great orator. No wonder those clan leaders intuitively see him as a threat. They were jealous and afraid of his charisma and growing powers, a combination which would be hard to beat.

ya.. romance gets to you even without the sexual stuff..
but that is more a result of chinese govt than author’s choice itself..
mdzs was under a lot of fire for its extra chapters, despite being not released in china

HuaLian is love. And I’m glad there’s a group who is willing to translate the manhua (which has a very pretty and painting-like style).
