Beanie level: Eunuch in drag

Did anyone ever read the “To all the boys I’ve loved before” YA book by Jenny Han they gave away/promoted on DB a couple of years ago?

A netflix show is coming out! I am conflicted by the casting of Lana Condor as the lead though. I don’t want to be difficult, but she’s not Korean, nor mixed race. My tiny underrepresented mixed race heart was just hoping for a little representation… as the casual mix of cultures is one of the parts I really enjoyed about the book.

I’ll probably still check it out, since the trailer looks good enough and I did really enjoy the book.

    Another case of Hollywood whitewashing??

Actually not at all! Lana Condor is (full) Vietnamese if I understand correctly. She is actually less white than the original character. Which I am okay with to some degree, I just wish TV would portray the mixed race experience.

I’ve read it, and I really liked it. I don’t know anything about the movie casting, but in my experience, most of the book-to-movie adaptations turn out to be quite a disaster. :/

I read it, but only liked the first book. I haven’t checked out the third, but the second wasn’t so good. The trailer looks fun, so I may check it out when it comes to theatres here.

When you see a kdrama character drop an expensive phone without large cover and go “the screen doesnt seem to be broken”

LIES PPL LIES

Looks like show is also pulling the fated childhood lovers trope. I’ll put up with it because Kim Miso is so winsome.

Move over robot-boy. Secretary Kim is in the house!

I’ll probably keep watching both shows, but so far I’m loving Kim Miso and her clueless ego-centric boss and all the colleagues surrounding them.

So I had a crappy morning followed by a crappy day and now a crappy end of the day because I tripped and dropped my phone AND MY PHONE CRACKED.

And it would cost 300 euro to repair, meaning it will have this crack on its screen from now until forever.

I am never buying a Samsung phone again, PPL be damned.

I had to rant about this somewhere, figured I may as well warn the rest of the Beanie Fanwall to never fall for Samsung PPL, unless you have some seriously deep pockets and/or perhaps physical elegance ensuring you will never drop your phone.

Aww sorry to hear that *hugs* to comfort you 💖💖
Is buying a new phone costs less or the same ???!

And rant as much as you want , I’m all ears 😘😘

Thanks for offering a listening ear <3 I'm a bit upset and needed to vent. A new phone this 'powerful' would still be more expensive, … but considering the screen is 50% of the phone price, it's still insane. But if the crack gets so big it becomes unworkable I will just buy a new phone. FROM A DIFFERENT BRAND.

Don’t you have a screen protector on it ???!

          1

I did before, but the weird edge screen makes it so the all-around cover I also have around it with rubber edges keeps pushing the protector (which was supposed to be case-friendly!) around, making it impossible to even type on the phone. I eventually took it off in favour for the all-around cover, thinking the rubber edges would protect it better. I WAS WRONG.

The Samsung design made the phone extremely fragile as well as extremely hard to protect.

is it the samsung s9? cause i just literally bought the phone in april then i went to a baseball game where i dropped it and it cracked. I had to pay $300 to get it fixed 🙁 i am now in credit card debt

    2
    2

It’s its predecessor, the S8+. So many regrets. I’m not having it fixed, even though my perfectionist brain gets a little brain-attack every time I see the crack. I WILL GET USED TO IT. Because I do not have €300 to spare every time I trip. Clearly the phone case I got is doing nothing.

omg so I would drop my S6 all the time and it never ever cracked but with the S9 and the curved edges I hated how the screen protector looked so all I had on it was an Otterbox phone case which obviously did nothing to protect my phone too. The crack was so bad that I couldn’t comfortably watch any videos on it because the crack was in the way. That is why I handed over my credit card to have it fixed as the place I took it to also got it done same day, within 2 hours. I now bought a screen protector as well.

Also, I’m sorry about your credit card debt. Pretty phones shouldn’t do that to us 🙁

Nooo, so sorry to hear that! It’s so expensive to get screens fixed… 🙁

The more expensive the phone, the more expensive the screen… lesson learned!

      2
      1

And there is another lesson in here don’t ever remove the screen protector in favor of the phone cover ; just change the phone cover to fit well
And sorry again for what happened

        1
        1

          Lesson learned indeed.

This is a wellknown problem for samsung edge-type products. Due to the edge, the edges of the cover cannot stick out to protect the screen. The screen itself will always “stick out” a little being the first point to hit the floor if dropped.

However, there are very few cases that will work with a case-friendly screen protector that dont sacrifice rubbery protection around the edges (making the phone vulnerable if dropped in a different angle).

I wish I thought of it before I bought the phone. I am a clumsy person and fragile things are not meant for me. This is the first time I’ve ever managed to crack a screen though.

I am hesitant to start a new show after Ahjussi, but it turns out humanlike robots are my catnip. Who knew?

Just like Ji-an’s connection with her Ahjussi, there are no words that could describe how I felt about this show. Show, you were everything and so much more.

Thank you.

When Korean Harvey Specter goes “Figure out how to write this important document yourself I offer you no real training whatsoever” I CAN RELATE
When you’re supposed to work all night on one urgent task but another partner comes up with a crazy even more urgent plan I CAN RELATE
When your colleague associates have to take over some job you were supposed to do and do a shitty job and you get scolded instead I CAN RELATE

Suits is all kinds of unrealistic but for some reason hits so many bits of being a trainee lawyer just right

Jian you precious child.
I can’t wait for her to meet the rest of the neighbourhood.
I just want her to be loved by the neighbourhood Ahjussi army who will defend her passionately, no questions asked.

Officially in a drama slump. I can’t even say why the currently airing dramas aren’t doing it for me because i honestly don’t know.

Time to rewatch INAR.

Dramabeans decided not to let me access it when I was having the worst INAR withdrawal symptoms. Maybe that’s a good thing!!

Not-Aji-3’s face?
When did Min-kyu buy the cleaning rag suit?
Did they ever have the conversation about Jia’s umbrella?

I think he realized she was the inventor, of not just the lights, but also everything else when he realized that she is CEO Jo

I know he saw her portfolio but how did he get his hands on her stuff??

She gave him the lamps and the 2 umbrellas, but I’m not sure how he got his hands on her cleaning rag suit XD

I had assumed–since he did leave his mansion on occasion–that he saw it and had someone procure it for him the way he did with the action figure (to a much smaller degree. She had tried selling all of her inventions and creations before…they mostly just didn’t sell very well. Thats why she asked him if he was one of the 5 (people who bought her stuff) is what I had assumed.

^This is what I thought as well. It’s possible too that she tried selling it online and he found it there, and just ordered it.

The possibilities are endless 😂😂 I think it’s just bugging people that the ONE THING that was never explained was how he came to acquire the cleaning rag suit, but everything else seems to have an explanation XD And who knows?? Maybe there WAS an explanation of how he came to acquire the rag suit but we just missed it 🤔🤔🤔🤔

I guess but she explicitly asked how he got it… so I wanted an answer!
