Drama Beanies loved but I didn’t Business Proposal. Going into it after reading such raving reviews definitely didn’t help it! The first 6 episodes were mostly fine; it was pretty funny overall and Kim Sejeong is always great so that’s a plus, I was enjoying it enough. But then ep 7 and 8 happened and it never recovered. Ahn Hyoseop’s Kang Taemu (which I wasn’t very fond of since the start with the whole forcing the marriage thing etc) became quite insufferable for me and the plot wasn’t as fun anymore.
To be honest I did not like AHS in this at all. His way of talking made him sound like he came out of a sageuk, so out of place. Also he couldn’t quite pull off the cold CEO vibe, and I didn’t even feel such a strong romantic chemistry between the leads! ><
Normally I can see why a drama would become a hit even when I don’t really like it myself, but in this case I really don’t get the hype.

I guess there is Choi Hyunwook who keeps playing the nicest friend in all the dramas I see him in! Last year it was Racket Boys and this time in Twenty-five Twenty-one and Weak Hero Class 1. A high schooler in both shows, but very different vibes, and also total opposite endings for him!
Actually the whole 2521 friend group was quite lovely too! ^^
Kang Youngseok as Jang Seonho in Insider was a very interesting character!
He started as a villain, then became a partner (..in crime), then almost a friend, then an enemy once again, then..honestly I don\’t quite remember how it was in the end, it\’s been a while! XD
Anyways, he was one of the best parts of Insider for me!
Great choice. With all due respect to Kang Ha-neul’s performance in INSIDER (which was terrific) I awarded one bean to INSIDER for Kang Young-seok’s performance as Seon-ho. He was so good. I hope this performance is a launch pad to other meaty roles.
Oh I forgot about him or my vote would have gone to him too. He was excellent in the role. On a shallower note, he was also excellent eye candy after the hair colour change 🥰.
This one has to be Memorials/Into the Ring! Lovely rom-com, great couple, great chemistry, solid plot development from beginning to end! ❤️
I even called this back in January as soon as I finished it, and it hasn\’t changed since then! XD
Also second place for A Piece Of Your Mind, which became an unexpected favorite of mine ❤️

I read the premise for Love All Play and it was a direct nope! But then it kept showing up on the wall and well, i guess brainwashing works 🤣 i’m glad i picked it up though, it was a solid little drama from a non-star studded cast.

The Park twins, Park Taeyang and Park Taejoon, from Love All Play!! ❤️
I absolutely adored them! I still kinda do, in fact…even after months since the drama ended I get a little giddy when I see minor interactions between Chae Jonghyeop and Park Juhyun!! xD
How cool is it that both of their next dramas start airing this very week?! Anyways, that’s not the point ahaha!
I did indeed adore them and before starting the show I had low expectations for it, for some reason (now I don’t even remember where my hesitation was coming from tbh)
Despite the flaws of the drama, I still thoroughly enjoyed the leads’ relationship for the most part, and I’ll remember them fondly! ^^

I mentioned it yesterday too, the opening song of Love Between Fairy and Devil is probably my favorite! The interesting thing is I listened to it and liked it even before starting the drama thanks to Spotify recommendation. Then once I played ep 1 I immediately recognized it! Another great one was the opening theme of Love All Play. Cheerful and bright, it put me in a good mood (..the drama could have learned a thing or two from it, but I digress..) When the door opens – JT&MARCUS
From the same drama I loved another song, which made the top spot of my Spotify Wrapped this year!! Amazing! Totally different vibe compared to the previous one. The distant future – Jeon Sang Keun
Yumi’s Cells OST was lovely too! I have a few songs I love but this post is getting too long lol!
Lastly, despite all the controversy and an underwhelming show overall, I really loved the OST of Snowdrop. In particular this song: If you’re with me – Sung Sikyung.
I have not watched Snowdrop yet, but there is a song I heard by chance and I love it and I have added to my K-drama list in Spoty: Wishes (Jamie Miller).
Snowdrop may not be a good drama (…i’m trying to be nice here😅) but i think the osts are the ones that making me keep watching the show till finish.
I also like Sung Sikyung’s song and “Friend”. But my favorite might be Jehwi “Looks like a real thing”

DAY 5 – Drama that will always live in my memory
I can’t think of any unforgettable Korean dramas this year for me. I remember thinking that the first half of the year was underwhelming, hoping for a better latter half…well, that didn’t really happen as far as Korea goes! *sigh*
But I did watch Love Between Fairy and Devil in September and that was the most memorable show this year in my book, I’ll remember it for a long time!
I don’t normally watch that many Chinese dramas, and fantasy/historical isn’t even my top genre. Nevertheless, this epic love story of two people going against all odds to be together was just what my heart needed!! ^^
It worked for me exactly because I don’t usually watch wuxia, so it felt quite fresh despite potential tropes or common setup.
Visually it was really pretty. CGI might have been hit or miss, but better than average for sure!
The music was wonderful, starting from the opening theme I could never bring myself to skip! ❤️ Dylan Wang and Esther Yu were great by themselves and together!! Best chemistry, they had me hooked for weeks!! 😍
I’m glad I gave it a try after seeing many Beanies rave about it! ^^
Hard to pick only one, since I feel like I\’ve been disappointed a lot by dramas this year 😅
I had very high expectations for Joseon\’s Psychiatrist, because I love Kim Minjae and this was his follow up project after Dali & Gamjatang, which I adored last year!!
Also the book the drama is based on sounded quite interesting. I had an idea of how the show would look but that was not how it turned out to be; the execution was kinda lacking.
(But yes, I\’ll still tune in for S2 because I ended up loving the little found family they built ^^)
Second place goes to Bad Prosecutor, though my expectations weren\’t that high to begin with (more neutral, I\’d say).
I watched this as a fan of Kyungsoo (D.O.) but let\’s say this was not a worthy successor of his last drama 4 years ago 😅
Overall the series was pretty average, yet quite fun nonetheless. But the last couple of episodes were not as fun and in the end quite underwhelming, for me. Hoping for a better project next time!
Also Love All Play could have been such a wholesome show! The first half was really good, but in the end it turned out to be quite a sad and depressing concentration of tropes and toxicity 🙁 …and yet!!! It’s still one of my favorite dramas this year and I remember it quite fondly!! Go figure! xD
Despite not really loving Twenty-five Twenty-one that much, I quite enjoyed some parts of it, like the relationship between Na Hee-do and Ko Yu-rim; one of the best parts of the show for me. At times it really felt like I was watching an enemy to lovers kind of plot unfolding! XD

Rewatching this right now with my two brothers who are watching it for the first time. We’re having so much fun. one commented that episodes 11/12 seemed like filler and I laughed so hard, knowing that here at db, we count episodes anywhere between 9-12 as filler, haha! Oh, and I made bibimbap and served them Korean stick coffee! We also watched Take 1 and started Vincenzio ( yes we did!!)
Most unforgettable ML for me this year has to be Dylan Wang as Dongfang Qincang in Love Between Fairy and Devil!
It was just a really great watch! Solid acting (credit to the dubber too), great chemistry and to add everyone and everything was visually stunning. Love love! ❤️
Also shout-out to Gu Woong, who might have not been the best boyfriend for Yumi, but kept tugging at my heartstrings with his puppy eyes (it\’s all Ahn Bo-hyun\’s fault!!) and adorable cells, even when relegated to second ML ahah! ^^
Compared to last year, I didn’t encounter a memorable FL, really, but if I have to pick I suppose my favorite was Kim Go-eun as Yumi! 🥺
I watched both season of Yumi’s Cells this year and loved it a lot, s1 especially. Then I went ahead and read the original webtoon too, and thoroughly enjoyed that one as well (though I skipped most of Babi’s chapters oops xD)!!
Having a glimpse of what’s going on inside our FL’s mind thanks to the animated cells was quite unusual and pretty fun!
Only regret is the drama creators not adapting the comic’s last 50 chapters or so (out of 500+!!) and giving Yumi more closure! I really fell for Shin Soonrok in those few chapters! ❤️

I watched The School Nurse Files last week…and honestly, what the heck was that?!? I\’m not sure really!! Just me? 🤣
It was weird, like, REALLY weird, and I was expecting it to be (based on reviews I saw), but I thought at least the story would make sense…I don\’t know, maybe it does, but I did not get it that\’s for sure! LOL
Honestly me too😅. I watched it because it was short but didn’t really understand it. Many things were not explained and the transition between scenes felt abrupt to me. Maybe they are planning a second season and plan to explain it better.
So, I was watching Sisyphus (actually just skimming through Chae Jonghyeop’s scenes lol) and when his character first meets Park Shinhye the subs keep saying English instead of Korean! Why?
Like for example CJH lines (he’s calling the police): “she is not a foreigner, she can speak ENGLISH”, about PSH after they exchanged a couple words in KOREAN moments before..wth?! Netflix What is the reason? 🤦🏻♀️
Also this show can get so ridiculously absurd, I’m sorry xD

I think you have English [CC] on, not just English. So you’re getting the transcript of the dub instead of actual subs. Still a weird thing to be in the dub though, lol.
The illogic and paradoxes of the time-travel storyline in this show does qualify as “absurd”. Luckily for me there were enough other distractions going on that allowed me to enjoy it.
I was today years old when I realized why Love All Play is called that in English, while being totally different from the Korean title. Just me?? ahaha
I was rewatching one of the earlier episodes and realized that\’s what the umpire says before the match starts: \”love all\” and then \”play\”.
And to think I even watched Racket Boys last year but never noticed!
Ahhh…learning something new every day! xD

Sooo…Yumi\’s Cells…this week made me wonder if they\’re changing stuff from the webtoon?? I haven\’t read it that far, so I\’m not sure 🤔
I wouldn\’t mind it, if they did, but I\’d still like a heads-up since I know some webtoon plot points and the latest episodes are confusing me!
Or maybe I simply don\’t know enough? XD
But all that aside, can they stop using Woong as a punching bag? It\’s too much at this point 🥺

Mood while watching Yumi\’s Cells ep 5, featuring Woong..it was sad :((
After waiting ages to finally start the show, now I\’m kinda stuck on this episode, I\’ll need another push to keep going with the next! ahaha
In the meantime I\’ve been reading the related original webtoon chapters and they\’re basically copy-paste, except for drama Yumi being much nicer than webtoon version; I really appreciated that! 🥺
On another note, shout-out to the pizza that took one whole episode to make!! XD
That was somewhat painful to watch too!! 💔🇮🇹

I watched The School Nurse Files last week…and honestly, what the heck was that?!? I\’m not sure really!! Just me? 🤣
It was weird, like, REALLY weird, and I was expecting it to be (based on reviews I saw), but I thought at least the story would make sense…I don\’t know, maybe it does, but I did not get it that\’s for sure! LOL

Honestly me too😅. I watched it because it was short but didn’t really understand it. Many things were not explained and the transition between scenes felt abrupt to me. Maybe they are planning a second season and plan to explain it better.

So, I was watching Sisyphus (actually just skimming through Chae Jonghyeop’s scenes lol) and when his character first meets Park Shinhye the subs keep saying English instead of Korean! Why?
Like for example CJH lines (he’s calling the police): “she is not a foreigner, she can speak ENGLISH”, about PSH after they exchanged a couple words in KOREAN moments before..wth?! Netflix What is the reason? 🤦🏻♀️
Also this show can get so ridiculously absurd, I’m sorry xD
But comment sections under recaps are extremely funny at least!!

I think you have English [CC] on, not just English. So you’re getting the transcript of the dub instead of actual subs. Still a weird thing to be in the dub though, lol.

The illogic and paradoxes of the time-travel storyline in this show does qualify as “absurd”. Luckily for me there were enough other distractions going on that allowed me to enjoy it.

I was today years old when I realized why Love All Play is called that in English, while being totally different from the Korean title. Just me?? ahaha
I was rewatching one of the earlier episodes and realized that\’s what the umpire says before the match starts: \”love all\” and then \”play\”.
And to think I even watched Racket Boys last year but never noticed!
Ahhh…learning something new every day! xD
Also I double checked watching a video from an actual match (from the recent Olympics in Tokyo) because you never know!! lol
