Beanie level: Chaebol’s poor doppelganger

I know the Ye Cruise Line is a’sailing, but am I the only one who finished Great Seducer? I don’t even regret it. When it was good (which was sometimes) it was so good. Mostly when we saw this face:

    Seriously, that man can act. And despite what everyone seems to say about Joy, she’s a good actress. She never out-shone Do Hwan, but she held her weight in important scenes. Also I will keep my eye out for Moon Ga Young, who managed that elusive feat of making you not hate a character you should hate. Such a flawed show, but many great characters and entertaining melo. I will miss it a little.

      I’ve tried often to figure out why I enjoyed this show so much, and I think you’re right — it was the cast and characters. I just couldn’t hate (most of) them, even at the times when they frustrated me. Normally the cycle of breakup/makeup gets old, but this one managed to stay fun for me even when I was rolling my eyes.

        Yeah I kind of just leaned into the melo and let it take me down whatever river it wanted. I also think while the writer struggled with overall plot, she created some really layered characters that were all shades of grey, including the ways they interacted with each other. She was also really good at writing scenes with a lot of tension. So, idk, it wasn’t the best drama but I enjoyed it.

    I think it was the first time I was yelling for a heroine to leave the hero. I was like “YAAASSS MAKE HIM SUFFER!!” Well not suffer lol but make him think and look into his feelings and stop lying to himself.

    for a basic candy, or some people will love to call her now as a ‘goody two shoes’ female lead, she got gut to cut off the relationship first even without knowing the whole bet things . kudos to writer for making her a stronger and observant than basic candy female character.

    i hope when she accept shi hyun again and learn about the bet thing, she will be more stronger to SLAP (literally, i pray) SOME SENSES into them.

    Too early to say. That acting is good, and I am a huge fan of broken bromances. They’re being pretty cavalier with the chronology of the story, and I can’t decide if it works or not. Also, it all feels so familiar so far, so I’m curious to see where they’re going to take the story before I can recommend it.

      It doesn’t have quite the same feel as 7 Day Queen, though the music and production value seems pretty high. The story is similar but being told in a different way, still not sure what way that is yet haha.

        To be fair, I liked the trailer, hee. And now I’m more curious than ever because I saw your previous post on Jin Se-yeon and I just can’t stand her, lol. I last saw her in Doctor Stranger and even then, I was rooting for Kang So-ra’s character.

        Anyway, I might include Grand Prince on my “To Watch” list. Thanks beanie!

          Ep 1 seemed pretty standard, but Ep 2 felt different, more complex. The acting is really nice–seeing lots of different sides of characters.

    then he did flower boy series of boy next door with shin hye..

    currently .. came back from army in 2016.. been doing 1night 2 days variety show.. he is adorably awkward… and in last two years.. he has done two dramas … mirror of the witch and big hit

I haven’t seen Jin Se Yeon in a drama since Gaksital, and I was expecting to not like her. But I like her so far in Grand Prince! She seems to have really improved these last years. Pleasant surprise

Waikiki! Dong Gu was the standout today! Kim Jung Hyun finally seemed to find his stride. Can him and Yoon-ah just live in that tent for the rest of the series?! Love them. And boy is a goner now…
