FINAL EPISODE RECAP

Hang-ah gets dragged to the border by Dad, kicking and screaming that she can’t be separated from Jae-ha. Dad spins around on his heels and asks, “And it’s okay to be separated from me?”

Oh, Dad. Now you’re making me feel bad. He says that it took 35 years to see family members after the first war—does she think they won’t end up that way? He says he can wait decades for her if he has to, but his body won’t hold out that long.

Hang-ah starts to cry, as Dad tells her that even if they meet again, it’ll be at his grave. Okay, that’s some hardcore parent guilt right there. What is she supposed to do when you say stuff like that?

He leaves the choice to her – if she really wants to stay, she can. He tells her that South Korea has turned their backs and declared war, and Jae-ha will prove to be no different.

Jae-ha meets the prime minister to ask who the hell approved DEFCON 3. Uh, well if it wasn’t you, I’m gonna say it’s the other guy in the room with the power to do so. The prime minister admits caving to U.S. pressure.

Jae-ha tries calling Hang-ah over and over, growing more panicked by the second. She finally answers, against Dad’s wishes. They check on each other and suss out the situation—Jae-ha needs time to talk to both the U.S. and North Korea to stop this from happening.

The trouble is, North Korea has cut off all lines of communication. Hang-ah turns to her father to ask if he did this, and he reminds her that this is WAR—of course they cut off communication (though it was his superiors, not him personally).

He tells her to come back, but she hesitates, as more tears start to fall. Oh no. “I’ll go to the North. If this is the situation, then North and South have completely split apart. And the only thing that remains is war.”

Jae-ha says that the South always has their end of the line open. It’s the North that cut off their end. Hang-ah knows, and that’s why she’s going: “I’ll open the line.” Oh, wow, what a great mission for the heroine. She says that she’ll convey the king’s position and stop this war.

He protests – there’s no way for the two of them to communicate once she crosses that border. There’s no way to know how bad things will get, so how can he let her go? Hang-ah: “Isn’t your heart my heart?”

She asks if the change in situation will change their hearts. They know the answer, but he still puts up a fight, asking if she’s really going to go, knowing full well that war might break out?

Hang-ah: “I want to see Father for a long long time. And I want to see you for a long time. That’s why I’m going. So that I can see you.” He starts to cry. “Hang-ah-ya…”

Hang-ah: “You’ll stop the war, right? I’ll do the same. If you just remember that, then we’ll see each other again. I love you.” And then she hangs up, before he can even say it back. He just looks down at his phone in tear-filled shock.

They both cry for a moment, and then Hang-ah braces herself. She spins around on her heels as the music turns along with her. She marches through to the North, a woman on a mission.

Jae-ha lingers for another moment in the hallway, and then he wipes his tears and mirrors her walk. I love the double badass turn.

Bong-gu gets the confirmation that the U.S. has approved an attack on North Korea, and calls Jae-ha to gloat about it. I love that till the end, Jae-ha’s like, “Who is this?” which drives Bong-gu crazy.

He passes along the military operation as proof and says that it’s really Jae-ha’s fault for attacking via ICC. That day on the cliff he gave Jae-ha the choice between himself or his people—”You chose yourself. You killed them.”

Jae-ha: “No. YOU did.” Aw, yeah. He says that all he’s done is try to bring Bong-gu to justice, according to the law. Bong-gu laughs that in the end the Koreas will be at war and he’ll walk away.

Jae-ha: “No. I’m going to stop this war. And you’re going to be put on trial.” For all of Bong-gu’s blustering, it’s really Jae-ha who has the upper hand when it comes to poker faces, because he believes in what he’s saying. The report is confirmed to be legit, and the situation escalates as Jae-ha signs off on DEFCON 2 and the country prepares for war.

Hang-ah meets with the prime minister who praises her for her loyalty to country, and then proceeds to ask about what she’s learned in her time in the South, like where are the secret bunkers they can attack.

But when she tells him that they need to reopen the lines of communication with the South, he argues that the king is preparing for war and accuses her of caving to her womanly weaknesses. Oh, because that’s evil, right? Ass.

She narrows her eyes but rises above it and asks the very logical question of why on earth she’d come back home then, if she were just madly in love and ready to forsake her country for a man. I would’ve added a knee kick but clearly you are more civilized than I. But he tells her it’s too late for communication, because both sides have their missiles pointed right at each other. Gah, the art-imitating-life of this situation is so unnerving.

Jae-ha prepares for a public address, and Secretary Eun reminds him that he needs to appear strong before the people. He starts to write his speech, calling out the U.S. for their attack plan, and urging the North to show that they are willing to discuss peace.

He starts to write, “But if North Korea attacks Seoul… then South Korea will by any means necessary…” He flashes back to his moments with Hang-ah, on their 60km trek, and when she held him in her lap. He finishes his sentence with a pang in his heart, “…repay the whole of North Korea in kind.”

Meanwhile Hang-ah’s last conversation with the prime minister has put her father in a sticky position, and he goes entirely in the other direction and presents her with plane tickets for them to flee the country.

He says that war is inevitable now, and even here in the North, they’ll be seen as South-friendly and therefore a liability. He doesn’t trust Jae-ha either, since he heard the speech above.

Hang-ah defends Jae-ha’s need to make an official statement as such, but Dad asks how he could, knowing that Hang-ah is here. He says that a preemptive strike isn’t that uncalled for in this situation. Her eyes widen, “A preemptive strike? Are we going to attack first?” He says nothing has been decided yet. Oh crap.

Jae-ha sits down with his general and asks what kind of casualties have been projected if war does break out. In day one: 200,000 soldiers, 1.5 million civilians. In week one: 1 million soldiers, 5 million civilians. And the cost of course in the tens of billions. He looks up in horror, and the general says these are all numbers projected in 1994, so they can probably double them.

Jae-ha sits, literally the weight of the world on his shoulders. He thinks back to hyung’s dreams of peace and reunification, Shi-kyung’s dying pleas to never give up, and Bong-gu’s words that if a single life were to be lost, it would be on his hands.

Hang-ah in turn thinks back to Jae-ha’s promise during the WOC: “Trust me, and I’ll trust you,” and Jae-kang’s question in presiding over their engagement about joining their strength in a time of war.

Her doorbell rings with a delivery. A mysterious man drops off a package and she asks if he’s from China since his accent is different, but he disappears without a word. She opens it up to find Jae-ha’s I’m-sorry-thank-you-I-love-you skincare set for her (aw) with an envelope buried underneath: a copy of the U.S. military strike against Pyongyang.

This is exactly the leverage she needs. She takes what she knows to the prime minister, but only offers to give him the date of the attack if he’ll reopen the line to Seoul. Awesome. Jae-ha is headed to the border to try and speak to someone from the North, and she asks to be the one to go.

He scoffs at her gall to negotiate with him, so she gets up and breezes that she heard about the preemptive attack, “But it’ll be too late.” He offers to let her go as a representative to start the talks, but only if she gives him the date. She says she’ll give it after she comes back from the meeting, since she’s not about to throw away her bargaining chip. Ha.

The prime minister says he needs something too then, and presents her with the only copy in existence certifying her engagement to Jae-ha (that seems like a big leap, but it’s the gesture that’s important). He tells her to rip it up: “What do you need an engagement for when you are going to meet your enemy?”

She doesn’t hesitate and rips it to shreds. Now he has proof of her loyalty and she has access to meet with Jae-ha. The prime minister adds a caveat, to make sure she gives him the information promised—he’ll be holding her father as hostage until she hands over the brief. Damnit.

Jae-ha arrives first and waits for the Northern diplomat to arrive. Hang-ah calls her father to check in, and he assures her that the prime minister won’t do anything hasty (he’s totally lying through his teeth), and the two men watch the meeting via live feed.

Hang-ah walks into the room and Jae-ha lights up to see her. He approaches her warmly, but she remains distant and formal. She puts out her hand for a shake and he sees the earpiece in her ear.

He takes her hand but he sinks when she just shakes it and goes to her seat. She asks everything she’s supposed to—is he really preparing to join hands with the U.S. and go to war?

Jae-ha sits through her barrage of questions silently, which is doubly infuriating for Hang-ah who’s desperate not to lose this chance to show the prime minister Jae-ha’s true intentions.

He finally sits back and asks casually if she knows that they’ll be attacked on May 24. The prime minister freaks out, and Hang-ah’s father hands over the brief to prove it. It’s less than a week out.

Meanwhile Hang-ah flips out that he gave away her bargaining chip. But Jae-ha is still smiling, calm as you please. “What’re you doing May 24? Going to war?” Hang-ah finally loses the cool exterior, “Comrade Jae-ha!”

He just keeps going, “I’m getting married. To you.” Hahaha. Okay, that’s crazy but kind of brilliant. He’s going to set the date of the attack as his wedding day?

The prime minister barks into Hang-ah’s ear for her to get out, and Jae-ha sees her flinch. He looks up at the camera and orders him to say it directly, and stop using Hang-ah as his shield. Love it.

It works, and the prime minister calls to speak to him directly. He shouts that they weren’t behind the terrorist attack, and Jae-ha shouts back that threatening Seoul is the definition of terror.

He calms down. “You die. And then we die. The U.S. hits you, you hit us, and then if China gets involved… do you think that even one person will be left standing on this land?”

The prime minister scoffs at his solution—if they get married, does he think the U.S. will just pat their heads and wish them well? But Jae-ha makes it clear that he’s not talking about sneaking off and eloping, but standing with both countries behind them.

A wedding is cause for congratulations and if North and South officially present a united front, the whole world will rush to congratulate them. In that situation, on that day, can anyone launch a missile at them?

“I’m not doing this so that South Korea can live alone. I’m saying let’s get married and live together.”

The prime minister says he’ll put it under advisement and orders Hang-ah to leave the room. But Jae-ha presses the Big Red Button and suddenly soldiers from both sides charge into the room, guns drawn.

Oh noes, Young-bae and Dong-ha, guns pointed at each other? I don’t like this one bit!

Jae-ha barks into the phone that he has five minutes to make a decision, “Or shoot me.” He figures that even if they say no, he’ll be dead anyway, so why not just die here? He hangs up.

Then they have to sit like that in the room for the five longest minutes ever. Jae-ha: “Young-bae-ya, you’re a sniper, right? Aim so that I go in one blow.” He points to the center of his forehead. Young-bae’s eyes dart back and forth, Dong-ha tenses up, ready to shoot him if he shoots. Hang-ah looks back and forth between them all.

The prime minister paces back and forth. Hang-ah’s father pleads with him to decide. Time’s up, and Jae-ha calls. Has he made a decision?

There’s no answer on the other end. Jae-ha takes the silence as a no. “Then, war?” He orders Young-bae to shoot. If their leader wants war, shooting the king is the way to start one.

Young-bae hesitates. Dong-ha, “Just try and shoot.” And then Young-bae adorably trembles and stutters, “I-I-I j-j-just can’t …”

But then Hang-ah stands up and grabs Young-bae’s gun out of his hand. She walks over and sticks it in Jae-ha’s face. Dong-ha raises his gun to her head. OH SHIT.

She says (at the prime minister), “Do I shoot? Why, do you think that because it’s the person I love, I can’t shoot? I can kill this comrade. And die with him.”

Well, now we know why Romeo and Juliet weren’t given guns. Because then shit like this happens. Everyone just put down the deadly objects!

Jae-ha looks up at her, his eyes full of love, and her eyes soften, “I’ll follow right behind you.” She cocks her gun. Dong-ha raises his to her temple…

And then in the last possible second before my heart bursts, the prime minister tells her to put down her weapon. Everyone starts breathing again, including me.

He asks Jae-ha if this means he’s really going to help them, and Jae-ha says yes. Hang-ah finally lowers her gun and Dong-ha does too. Jae-ha takes the gun from her hand and hugs her tight.

Bong-gu watches the North Korean news report in shock and demands that the U.S. attack anyway—why not the wedding? The contact refuses because somehow the story determined he should suddenly stop stupidly listening to the crazy man. Whatever, fake America. You are so weird.

Jae-ha gets ready to cross the border on his wedding day, and the U.N. tries to stop him. But the Korean troops help get him through, saluting their congratulations. Aw, that’s cute.

And I frickin’ LOVE that they’re getting married in the DMZ. Hang-ah smiles as she gets ready when she sees two officers North and South laughing together at their post. Dad says it’s too bad their wedding has less fanfare than their engagement and fusses over her hanbok, wishing her mother were here to see her.

She hugs him and says she’s sorry for being such a troublesome daughter, but he says as long as she’s happy, that’s all that matters to him. And then he breaks away from her so that she won’t see him cry. N’aaaaaw, Daaaaad. Okay, I forgive you for the guilt trip earlier.

Everything goes as planned and the U.S. backs off their military strike and offers up their congrats, and then the wedding begins. They each walk down the aisle from either side of the 38th parallel to meet in the middle.

Jae-ha holds out his hand. Hang-ah puts her hand in his, and then he crosses to the North. They face southward and bow.

And then together they cross to the South, and bow facing north. It’s simple, and lovely, and says everything.

And then he picks her up and twirls her around as they beam.

Then sometime later Bong-gu faces trial before the ICC. And the reason you couldn’t have kept him locked up till this point and therefore not make Shi-kyung’s sacrifice moot IS? BAH.

He gets sentenced to life in prison. That’s it? What about the tank of carnivorous snakes?

Jae-ha pays him a visit in jail, and Bong-gu muses that he must’ve been dying to see him like this. Bong-gu: “I won. You went to the brink of war. You were scared.” He chuckles that they’ve experienced trauma now.

“When you hear fireworks, you’ll jump in fear. When you hear sirens, your heart will race. Only Korea is like that. A country that has experienced war. That’s why you will become more anxious. You’ll be scared of what you encountered, and only amass more weapons.”

Jae-ha: “We stopped it. I did. We did. Now we have the confidence that we can stop it. They say that the scariest thing in the world is war. But we stopped it, so what can’t we do? Thank you… for making us powerful.”

He turns to walk away. Bong-gu screams after him that locking him up will do nothing to stop Club M from existing, and attacking. Jae-ha stops for a moment, but doesn’t turn back. He squares his shoulders and keeps walking ahead.

Four years later.

Dong-ha (wearing a much more decorated uniform) comes to find Jae-ha, and he comes to greet North Korean soldiers for the new WOC team. Behind him are Dong-ha, Young-bae, and (YAY!) Kang-seok. Where have you BEEN?

They’re old-timers now, the guys who train the newbies. Jae-ha asks about the female soldier for this team and Kang-seok says she’ll be from the South this time. Jae-ha leans in close to whisper at Young-bae that southern girls are really pretty, and Dong-ha sighs that it’s already too late—Young-bae took one look at her and he’s smitten so bad he can’t even train her properly. HA.

Once it’s just the four of them, Jae-ha greets them happily saying it’s been a really long time since they’ve all been together, and asks them out for a drink. Young-bae adds dejectedly that it’s not really all of them. Aw. Young-bae.

Jae-ha looks down and Kang-seok reminds Young-bae that they already poured a bunch of alcohol over Shi-kyung’s grave—he’s probably already drunk enough. Jae-ha muses that he’d probably have collapsed. It at least warms my heart that they still talk about him.

Jae-shin sits on her wall at the top of the city, and makes a phone call to confirm a concert and says that she can make it there on her own. We pan out to see that she’s sitting up there with her parrot, speaking to it as if it’s Shi-kyung.

She says that she’s supposed to go on a blind date tomorrow. Should she go? She looks over at parrot, only this time it’s Shi-kyung that appears. *Mmmrrmph* He opens his mouth to talk and just that alone makes me cry. Gaaaaah, I don’t know if I can do this.

He tells her to go. She asks if he’s mad and he says no. Jae-shin: “I can’t say that I’ll die old and alone only thinking of you.” He laughs and tells her she shouldn’t do that.

“But you’ll always be in a part of my heart. Like a shadow.” They smile at each other. And then when she looks back at him, he’s gone. It breaks my heart all over again.

We pan over to see that she’s actually at the foot of the wall, in her wheelchair, Birdie at her side.

Hang-ah’s father coos over pictures of his grandson prince, and squeals when he gets to talk to him over video.

Later, Jae-ha rushes to meet Hang-ah for a ribbon-cutting ceremony (for the first joint bank serving both countries) and little princey runs up to daddy for a hug. All the reporters swoon, and then princey calls out for Mom, but uses the North Korean dialect version (omani), which causes a giant ruckus in the media.

The queen mother tells them it’ll blow over, and Jae-ha pretends to be stern, but once she leaves the room, he dies laughing. They’re so cute.

But it turns into an issue (with chatter from Club M) and Jae-ha says he’ll make a statement. Secretary Eun thinks it might be best to leave it alone, but Jae-ha argues that all of his people matter, and he’ll win them over one by one, until they accept Hang-ah.

He gets to work, and Secretary Eun smiles proudly.

Jae-ha and Hang-ah stand side by side, ready to go in for a press conference. He tells her the situation is getting more serious. She chides that saying omani twice will lead to war. They chuckle, ’cause, well, been there done that.

Jae-ha: “We’ve already stopped a war. Hang-ah: “That’s true. Just as long as we don’t give up. The doors open. Cameras flash.

Jae-ha: “You ready?” She says yes. He takes her hand. “I love you.” They smile at each other and with a “Let’s go,” they walk forward in step.

COMMENTS

There were a lot of things I wanted for the finale that I didn’t get, and a lot of things that still felt satisfying anyway. The main trip-up for me is the Shi-kyung/Bong-gu war which hit its high at the end of Episode 18 and then fizzled out as soon as Shi-kyung died. It’s not really his death so much as the consequence of it that went so wrong. Had he died to put Bong-gu away, had Bong-gu remained in custody during the almost-war (which by the way was completely feasible and would in no way change the way the final chapter went down), and then be prosecuted, it would have all made sense and I wouldn’t have to tear my hair out. Because how do you even explain that he was brought to trial in the end if the first time took that much effort to get him in cuffs? HUH?

Mishandling that actually took a lot of the villain’s steam away, which I have to assume was inadvertent (because who would do that on purpose?). Sure, Bong-gu was the evil one who set the war into motion, but once that happened, the immediate threat became the world powers and I forgot that Bong-gu even existed. Despite the simplicity of containing an almost-war to four characters, I did like the dramatic climax for the couple, in putting their lives on the line. It’s you-have-to-get-through-us-to-get-to-war, and the culmination of everything they’ve built, from becoming comrades, to finding love, to trusting each other, to letting go. That felt both thematically on point and dramatically riveting, even though you don’t really expect a show to go out with a pair of dead lovers and a world war. Hello, hate mail.

What the two-part finale really lacked for me was breathing room on one score—Shi-kyung’s death in Jae-ha’s eyes. Jae-kang’s death, for instance, happened so early on that we had full episodes to mourn his passing and have Jae-ha learn and grow. And yes, Shi-kyung did already make his crucial impact on Jae-ha before he died. But I wanted that emotional beat. Jae-ha would never have become the king he is without Eun Shi-kyung. And though I loved Jae-shin’s moment remembering him, I wanted the same from Jae-ha. It was the biggest way the finale failed to deliver for me. And now I have a giant Eun Shi-kyung-shaped hole in my heart, and the show ended without patching it up properly.

There were a lot of things that this show never got quite right—the overly simplistic Club-M-is-all-powerful mantra, the over-reliance on wooden day players to give exposition, (Seriously, I can barely stand exposition when it’s served by the most talented of actors, and you’re going to give every bit of explanatory dialogue to extras? Foot, meet gun.) the slow progression of Bong-gu who took a really long time to become an interesting or effective villain. The international incidents were colored in the broadest brushstrokes possible, leading to more than a handful of countries whose leaders seemed more like silly dingbats than powerful movers and shakers. It’s not so much that I take offense, but that I would prefer the opposition to always seem bigger and badder (which makes for better drama) only they were more like dumb and dumberer.

But of course, there were many more things that the drama DID get right. It was shot gorgeously (the cinematographer and lighting team deserve like a medal, or a parade), the music swept me up in every moment and made me feel like it was a living, breathing world I was looking in on. And the cast was brilliant. I’ll be honest—I’ve always thought Ha Ji-won was over-hyped, but here she was amazingly tough, vulnerable, and believable, no matter how insane the situation seemed. She grounded everything. Perhaps it makes a great deal of difference to play a character who’s consistent from beginning to end. Lee Seung-gi had less gravitas than her going in, but gained it through his performance, and though his is still not an effortless kind of acting, it was his breakthrough to the other side—past the façade and into raw emotion. He stole the show, hands down (which isn’t really a surprise, since he played the king in The King). Jo Jung-seok played what was probably everyone’s favorite character, but I really think he’s to credit for a lot of that, because so much of who Shi-kyung was came from the physical performance. A great deal of his character’s innocent/earnest nuance could’ve been lost to a wooden actor, or worse, made to seem dumb, which would’ve been a travesty. And everyone else was already good in an established way—the parents, the hyung, and even Lee Yoon-ji, who’s always been fantastic.

When this show was funny, it hit that darkly funny sweet spot where my blackened heart resides. And when it was badass, it made me pump my fist in the air. And then, when it was deeply earnest about a soldier’s faith in his king or the partnership between a man and a woman in the face of insurmountable odds, it actually got through to my gooey earnest center.

You could say this show is about a lot of things, but it’s clear that the romance is the central metaphor – man and woman as two parts of a whole like a war-torn Korea, always at odds, but always kin. And though actual politics is far more complex than a pair of lovers being able to bridge that gap, it’s the idealistic view that they could, in such a world. What grips me most is actually not that larger idea, but the mechanics of what that relationship needs in order to make it to the end – not just love, but friendship, complete trust, and an equal partnership. A hero who saves the girl is swoonworthy, sure. But a hero who confides in his girl and trusts her to save the day is the winner, by a mile.

My favorite part of the show wasn’t actually the romance (though I loved their epic love story, I promise). It was the making of a king. What this show did right was its character development and relationships, and if you look at it from beginning to end, there are actually very few characters who change a great deal. Hang-ah and Shi-kyung are in large part the same (he gains a sense of humor, but starts and ends a hero, and she learns to play a player, but starts and ends a hero). Jae-shin takes a massive dip, but then gets back to her old self (albeit a better version) because of Shi-kyung.

But Jae-ha goes from a worthless thorn in his brother’s side to a ruler who can stop a war. He goes from someone who thinks the monarchy is a sham to a king who believes with all his heart that he is his people and they are the king. And it’s in the shaping of this character where Hang-ah and Shi-kyung are the traditional heroes of the story—they make Jae-ha kingworthy, through their tough love and indefatigable faith. It’s kind of equally admirable and stupid, but that’s why they’re the heroes. In that sense, Jae-ha really IS the people—he’s the most like us, doubting, questioning, pessimistic, jaded. Even till the end he’s the one who doesn’t want to let Shi-kyung go on his mission or let Hang-ah go on hers. Because that’s what a normal person would do. But they don’t let him be weak.

And perhaps that’s the final step he learns in becoming a true leader—to let his soldiers fight for what they believe in, to put the country and the mission before his heart. I still don’t think it justifies killing Shi-kyung (the lesson would’ve been learned without, thank you very much) but to be a true leader, he does have to live with the harsh choices and the deaths of his soldiers on his conscience. It’s the journey in making a king out of a man that hooked me through the heart, and kept me wholly invested no matter what international debacle came and went. And I guess what’s important is that I feel like the payoff for that was there in the end. And it was. Many other things may have fallen by the wayside, but Jae-ha became a king befitting his hyung’s legacy and his most faithful soldier’s trust. And I like that the point isn’t that he defeated one big bad villain (though of course we need his victory over Bong-gu), but that he finds out that he is strong, and forges ahead to fight more battles and more villains with that power.

And that’s why I really, really wanted Jae-ha to walk away from Bong-gu’s jail cell with this one retort: “I am king.”

BOOYAH.

I'm sitting in my living room (it's a beautiful day outside) drinking coffee…I don't know what to do with myself. Been searching Mysoju, DramaCrazy, Viki, Youtube…for something to fill TK2H's shoes but so far nothing :(

*sigh*

Anyone else going through this?

Don't feel like watching any new drama so I m currently reading db recaps on 1n2ds. I don't think I will be watching any new drama in a while. TK2H is too good, the rest seem so boring. If you like politics, you can try city hall by csw and ksa. It was my no 1 drama until TK2H came along.

@lovecityhall <-- your name says it all :) hehe!

Funny you should mention "City Hall; I've already watched it (when it first came out)—LOVED IT! It's one of my fav kdramas :)

I tried watching "A Gentleman's Dignity" today (saw ep.1)—I don't think I'll be continuing…not that it wasn't entertaining but after TK2H, "A Gentleman's Dignity" seems a bit superficial in the love story department…you know?

i tried it too just because 4 dignified looking guys are in it - however, i am a bit disappointed- i find the boy meets girl scenario dialogues juvenile and not "dignified" at all. I fear it is a waste of time to continue - what is with the "talking to myself, cannot see the gorgeous guy standing beside me?"" -- yikes, makes me feel stupid....

this looks more like a "male menopause" silliness - i am not interested.

this might be eye candy but too shallow for me --- aarrrghhh K2H really ruined kdrama for me now.

I'm also watching it.I'll try to persevere so that i could be cured of the K2H syndrome. K2H set the bar high.

@luvs,

"Male menopause" LOL!

I guess I will hide in my TK2H bunker a while longer then...

So far it's still very nice and cozy, with plenty of food and water.

male menopause silliness? ROFLMAO!!!

I know what you mean. I borrowed 3 dramas from the library and I can't get past epi 2 on any of them. I keep going back and watching epis of TK2H.

One of them is Secret (not S Garden) with Ha Ji Won. I really want to finish watching but it's just too early, even for something else with any of our stars in it.

So i decided to re-watch TK2H from Episode 1. And I'm enjoying bratty prince Lee Jae Ha even more than the first time around. Grinning like crazy at his antiques in the first few episodes....

Because now I know that he's going to evolve so magnficently, I can be even more indulgent of his bratty ways for the moment and anticipate the delicious transformation...

TK2H forever !!!

I feel the same way. I've been avoiding this thread in the hopes that it would make it easier to move on, but that hasn't really worked.

These characters are so real, they haunt you (in a good way).

What a masterpiece, that it sticks with us for so long.

@marneh11 - it's ok. you can grief a little more about TK2H by lurking here. Forcing the issue too early could result in a second viral attack of the K2H virus.

My suggestion is to keep lurking here until at least end of Thur, when it will finally sink in for all hearties-lurkers that the show's truly over :( then we can heal and move on. Or, until we find another worthy drama (whichever comes first).

Yes, will certainly vote for them. They are the best couple ever. I know that much has been said about them, but this morning I woke up and was thinking about why I love them so much. My conclusion is that to me they represent all that I want in my relationship with my husband. Other than the trust and love that they have for each other, there are 2 other areas that I would like to reflect upon.

1) The open communication lines. JH doesn't shield HA form bad news, as if he his protecting a fragile flower to boost his ego. In City Hunter, I was really annoyed and frustrated when hero (I forgot his name) kept shutting Kim Na Na away. I think that when a man is afraid or reluctant to share problems with his woman, he is looking down at her. He may think that he is protecting her from the harsh world, but she is NOT a child, and in doing so, the implication is at she is either not smart enough or that she is too weak to deal with the issues. JH includes HA in all his plans, before and after executing them and treats her as an equal. Guys please learn from JH.

On the other hand, gals, we can learn from HA too. HA is not one to react in a helpless fashion by wringing her hands and crying, 'Ottokea? ottokea?' Instead she stands by him, and even challenges him to meet the problems face on, but behind his back, she makes the most dire threats to disembowel the villain (this is my version) for making her man fearful.
She gives him space to make decisions and respects those decisions. Occasionally, she may spar with him but she doesn't breathe down his neck and insist that he consult her in everything. For instance, when JH receives the email abt Sec Eun from BG during their facial, she lets him read it on his own first, trusting that he will fill her in later. She even told QD and JS not to press him with details.

2) They allow each other to be themselves. I love it that JH allows her to be who she really is. He doesn't set up expectations for her as we sometimes do in so many relationships, only to be disappointed when they are not met.

JH allows her to be the woman she is. He is not turned off by her physical prowess as her other suitors were, wanting her to be demure and ladylike, not appreciating her strength and abilities. On the contrary, I believe JH is turned on by it. During her rescue of JH, when HA puts the gun in the kidnapper's mouth, many men may admire her action and be in awe of her, but they would not want to marry her - too scary. Some may even be revolted by it. But JH sees her worth and sees her love and is man enough not to be intimidated. You can practically see the respect, love and pride oozing from him. "That's MY woman!"

Yet he sees her vulnerability and feminine side too and THIS he protects. The first instance, and one of my favourites was how he 'protected' her from the UN officials who insisted that she opened up her bag of undies. Some asked why she didn't just do it. It's just undies and would have caused less stress, but JH knew that HA was conservative and innocent. The UN officials might mock at her for keeping her undies under lock and key. Moreover, remember that she's from NK. They may not have nice, feminine undies there. Hers might very well just be the practical, 'granny' undies - or worse, home-made ones that she would be too embarrassed to let anyone see. I suspect that that's the real reason. She only told JH that she keeps them under lock and key because she heard that there were perverts in SK, but JH saw her plight and distress and came to her rescue.

He allows her to be fearsome and strong, and feminine at the same time - not to compromise, or to trade one for the other. With him, she can be 100% badass and 100% feminine.

HA on the other hand allows JH to be the man he's destined to be. A Great King. She doesn't ask him to run away from BG or let others find the solution to defeat him. She urges him to overcome all challenges through the proper channels, yet encourages him to be creative and use his super IQ as long as it is within the rules. She encourages him to be honourable and upright, thus gaining the respect of all.

I love that she is NOT impressed with his royal status and doesn't use it to further her ends. In fact, that is why JH is first drawn to her. His status means nothing to her. In communist NK, it is looked down upon. While others see a bratty prince to exploit, she sees an inner strength in him that has been repressed & she loves him unconditionally. She loved him BEFORE he changed, and THAT was what changed him.

She was not put off by his lack of physical prowess or courage. She was more interested in the development of his character and his moral courage in the face of adversity.
Being a man is not about physical strength and power, it is about dignity and perseverance, humility and forgiveness, to desire to change for the sake of your love ones. And being a woman is not about being demure and ladylike. One can be a woman of physical strength, yet be very bit feminine.

wow - i agree. you covered the why i love the JH and HA couple! You spoke for me too.:)

Between the two, Jae Ha is the more affectionate one, he is always touching her. Jae Ha came from a very affectionate family, while Hang Ah grew up without a mother's guidance, therefore, she is a bit tomboyish. But later on, she learned to be more affectionate as well, --lap head rest epi 18, and shoulder hug at epi 20. They have the sweetest relationship.
Even at the end, Jae Ha was so comfortable and relaxed as a dad, laughing at the little boy for his public antics and so proud of him and praising his son in public.

I love most the scenes when they were having serious conversations about "work issues". You can see how JH respects Hang Ha and values her opinions. I think too that this is the only kdrama I remember where the man and woman are equal - most kdrama couplings are so unequal, it is not believable how they really got together as a couple - but with JH and HA, they match intellectually and they share a common ideals.

And like you pointed out - both are secure in themselves and in each other's love once they established that.
I like that both are very open with their feelings even from the start and expressed it. They did not have to pretend and play hard to get which is refreshing to see in a kdrama.
Jae Ha was quick to say" I am sorry" and I love you.

You know for most men, to say "I am sorry" is the hardest thing for them to do....

The ideal couple indeed!!!!

I am so jealous of their relationship ( my nth time saying it)...

@osi,
we have some plot ideas already.
Shall we start writing a script for an episode?
I will think about it - i will be going away for a week so i won't be checking on this forum but i will think about it -
My question is - where do we post the script? so that anyone can add to it until we are all satisfied . we can make our own interactive drama just for our own enjoyment - but still we need somehow to save a copy - i do not know how this will work. if we post it here - it will be buried along with other comments -
we have to have a dedicated forum just for the drama. i am not sure how to proceed with that.
i don't have blog and i am too busy to learn to start one. any ideas?
can we get do it here in dramabeans -
it would be a fun project - for us hearties.
...
Suggestions anyone? Hello girlfriday?

0

If you have idea, just post it here. In the next comment just tell us it's the continuation of the story in comment #xxx. What do you think?
The plot doesn't need to be strong. The messy one is okay because we includes all the cliches. So everyone can take part in building the story.

0

wow, i'm coming back again

can you guys include it in your script were hang ah cooks for jae ha ... like the mud clams. and this time showing he's totally loving it or his son grabbing it from him and they have to fight over it. LOL.

sorry, i was just watching ep.8 and I saw the family's dinner scene again.. and i can't help but want more of those scenes all of them together.

that scene was understated and very well written too. :)

0

@ maria
Aww sweet. Of course we can include it in the script, maria. ^^

Loved everything you wrote about our OTP and only wanted to add what luvs also said:

"They did not have to pretend and play hard to get which is refreshing to see in a kdrama."

I loved this about them. From the very beginning, once HA realized her feelings for JH and ran out barefoot in the snow to hug him, she was never shy about telling the world how she felt about him, even the part about liking him more than he liked her. Same with JH. Discounting his first phony public declaration of love, once he was sure she was the one, he never failed to confess how important she was to him, that he loves her and cannot do without her. In fact, one of my favorite JH lines is when he asks "Hang Ah neh?" translated as "What about Hang Ah?". The first time was when he asked Shi Kyung during their first bromance "date". The last (?) was when he asked Dong Ha after being told that war broke out between NK & SK. She's never far from his thoughts. I'm so glad that he's not one of those guys who think that love makes one weak.

Love this OTP to bits!

Aww, well said crazyajummafan. Agree with you.
One of the many reasons I love this OTP is because no noble idiocy there. In addition, JH and HA really completes each other. When others show how they complete each other by making the OTP's character poles apart so they can fill each other's weaknesses (for example a cold hero vs bubbly heroine, smart hero vs stupid heroine, rich hero vs poor heroine, independence hero vs dependence heroine, or vice versa), here we didn't see such conventional characters. And that's the real meaning of 'they completes each other', in my opinion.

Right? That's so typical kdrama. I even can name the dramas for each kind of hero and heroine. lol

Btw, reglest, do you watch TK2H on viki? I have this unique experience. I can watch this drama on viki without a single problem. But I can't watch other dramas because they say they're not available in my (our) region. I tried some dramas and it's the same. I can watch ONLY TK2H on viki. Do you happen to have the same experience?

0

By ONLY I mean, from the dramas I tried, only TK2H is available. I tried drama A, they said it's not available. Since I can watch TK2H, I wonder why? So I tried some others and they're also unavailable. Actually I have no problem with that since I only watch TK2H. I'm just curious. Hehe.

0

@osi:
No, I download it, so I can replay it *giggle*

Really? That's mean...they make exception for TK2H right? Since as far as I know, viki isn't much available in our country either. And considering how fast viki subber for this episode... kkk

0

I also download it after I watch it on viki because it's so fast. I really can't wait to watch the next episode. Is it wednesday yet? Oh sobs......

0

@Osi
I can think of a few reasons for your situation:
1) Viki knows what's best for u.
2) Viki's a die-hard fan of TK2H as well and is single-minded in her love for the show.
3) The spirits of JK and SK are haunting the site.

0

@ crazyajummafan
I'm sure those three are the few reasons. Maybe TK2H page is paralleled with the king's diary. So when the king opened his diary, it's automatically open the viki page. Do you watch it on viki, too, crazyajummafan?

0

Yes Osi, I watch it on Viki because they are the fastest, but I have to watch it raw first and wait for the translation later.

0

"One of the many reasons I love this OTP is because no noble idiocy there."

Yes, totally. Even when Jae-ha wanted to "protect" Hang-ah by keeping her from going to the ICC proceedings, he fully acknowledged that it was for his own sake, and not because he thought she couldn't handle herself. His behavior was totally understandable, given his loss of Shi-kyung and his fear over losing Hang-ah. And yet even so, he knew he was in the wrong and admitted it openly to Hang-ah.

0
reply

Required fields are marked *

@crazyajummafan,

Totally!

Because Jae Ha is such a confident man, he does not need those fake bravado to boost his ego or to solicit admiration. I remember some criticized him not manly enough in the rescue scene because he just stood by and did not join the ruckus. Well, just like you said, he knew Hang Ah was more than enough to take care of business. He also knew the best he could do was to get out of her way. And he cherished every second of watching HIS WOMAN in action from the ring side seat. (In the last ep. he so proudly pronounced that their son is very athletic, just like his mom. So cute!)

A man is manly when he knows his self worth and feels comfortable with it. He knows his shortcomings, admits to them (like what Jae Ha confessed to Hang Ah after the engagement announcement), and tries to mend when he sees the necessity of doing so. (He knew his attitude toward relationships did not bid well for a happy marriage; but he saw no need to change it as he did not intend to get married and the right woman had not appeared yet.)

Okay. I guess I need to stop before this turn into another long long rambling. Just love the couple too much!

YES. There's nothing sexier than a confident man who is comfortable enough with himself that he can appreciate those around him for their unique talents and gifts. I think this is why we fell so hard for Jae-ha.

@crazyajumma - thanks for putting it exactly right! i feel the same way too. like i said before, which woman doesn't want a Ja Ha for herself? too often our men tend to play the hero and 'take care of things', and that often leads to communication breakdowns (i guess that is where the 'noble idiot' in k-drama came from, when it's taken to the extremes).

I LOVED THAT LINE, TOO.

That just may be my favorite line in the whole series, because it so perfectly incapsulates how equal the relationship of the OTP is. Jae-ha respects Hang-ah as a person (and vice versa), not just as the woman who makes his "heart flutter" (to borrow an oft-used phrase from most kdramas).

BRAVO.

Beautifully said.

Ya know? I've actually been avoiding this thread because I thought it would be easier to get over TK2H if I just moved on at once (how sad is it that I'm talking about this show as though it were a lost love?), but it's a testament to how amazing this community is that I've actually felt a bit hollow this week, like a piece of me is missing.

I'm so happy that I checked back in because otherwise I would've missed out on this comment. So perfectly analyzed. I love your final paragraph in particular. I, too, was VERY put off by City Hunter's treatment of Kim Nana. It made the latter half of CH almost unwatchable for me. I know a lot of people were calling his behavior "noble idiocy," but I see nothing noble about repeatedly trying to change the best qualities about the one you love. What CH called trying to "protect" Nana, I call disrespectful and condescending.

What separates the AhHa couple from the pack is that the characters love, trust, and believe in each other enough to let each other be the best versions of themselves, even if that means walking into the line of fire. The characters also stand up for themselves when appropriate, which I love. It is particularly unusual to see a female heroine in a kdrama stand up for herself.

It's such a healthy, vibrant relationship.

Thank you for your kind offer. You've been very insightful too. Looking forward to thur.

0

@rearwindow,

So I gather you finished City Hunter? Just yesterday I was cleaning out my K-drama DVD collection and decided to chuck it.

What you used to describe those stupid behaviors, "disrespectful and condescending," is exactly right.

Why women, especially strong women, have to be taken down a peg, to show they are lovable? Then even some (or a lot?!) female viewers are very content to be treated as the fairer and weaker sex! In this day and age! I just don't get it.

I love the appreciation in our Ah-Ha couple. When one is showing off his or her stuff, the other watches with full appreciation and love and understanding. Like when Hang Ah points the gun at Jae Ha's forehead, I am just dying in the warm and sad and tender and loving glow of Jae Ha's gaze. Like when Jae Ha scolded the N. Korea top guy for taking unfair shot at S. Korea and playing right into the enemy's hands, Ha Hang looked at him with total admiration and pride. (And in the other room Mr. Kim Nan Il was nodding his head vigorously too - that just about killed me!).

They seem to say: having such wonderful, capable, and confident people loving us is a reflection of how wonderful, capable, and confident WE ourselves are!

I did finish it! I loved the final episode and the fight scenes (sooo awesome), but I was shocked at how poorly City Hunter treated Nana, especially in the latter half of the series. There was so much unnecessary angst. All I could think of was, "If Jae-ha were City Hunter, he would sick Nana on his pseudo-father the second he started showing his true colors, and Nana & CH would tag-team every single take-down together, with full communication. Then, he would encourage Nana to run for public office and head her election campaign, becoming First Man to the first female president of Korea.

0

@rearwindow
I agree with you regarding how CH treated Nana. That was the part that spoiled the show for me. Totally agree that the angst was unnecessary.

“If Jae-ha were City Hunter, he would sick Nana on his pseudo-father the second he started showing his true colors, and Nana & CH would tag-team every single take-down together, with full communication."

Totally agree with you here as well.

"Then, he would encourage Nana to run for public office and head her election campaign, becoming First Man to the first female president of Korea."

Haha love this! And so true to his character.

I'm so glad I posted my comments about the Ah Ha couple. Had been wanting too for some time, but had so much to say and needed to summarize it. But I just had to get it off my chest.

I thought I can be strong and stay away and stop stalking this thread but, alas! I am weak . . . I find myself coming back again. and again. and again. I suppose, the virus is still running in my system.

@crazyajummafan

Seonsangnim, *bows* I truly loved everything that you wrote about our favorite couple, Jae Ha and Hang Ah. What a beautiful piece. Your post just reinforced my love for them.

I especially liked these lines that you wrote:

"They allow each other to be themselves ... JH allows her to be the woman she is ... HA on the other hand allows JH to be the man he’s destined to be."

So true. They let each other be themselves, no expectations, no idealized versions, just letting each other BE, flaws and all. And yet, their interaction with and love for each other just spurs them to reach their full potential as better individuals. They push each other to become the best and pull each other up when the going gets tough. How can we not love them?

I tried watching another kdrama after watching K2H over the Memorial Day weekend but sadly, I couldn't even get past the 1st episode. So I found myself re-watching TK2H from Episode 1 (I'm now on episode 15) and I just realized that with all the different viewpoints I have read from all the wonderful commenters on this DB forum, it's like watching the episodes with fresh eyes but with much deeper understanding (and appreciation).

Aaaand, have a lot of fun on Thursday. Tsk, I'm so jealous! I wish I could go to Singapore and meet you all wonderful people and discuss TK2H until my brain is all fried out. We'd love to see pictures of you guys so hopefully, you can post the link here. (I don't know if that's good 'cause I know I'm gonna be jealous all over again :))

This was the first korean drama that I actively kept up with while it was still on air, went for an extensive rewatching marathon over, spoke repeatedly about, joined the discussion on db and honestly began from episode 1 and followed it all the way through to the end.

But it was mindblowing. The soundtrack, the acting, the chemistry--I could go on. I'm afraid it spoiled me for any other show. The only thing that truly disappointed was that I felt, in the most biased, prejudicial way possible, that the episode ratings were a pretty disappointing reflection of how good it was.

It left me quite pathetically, lost and wondering to myself--WHAT THE HELL HAS YOUR LIFE COME TO THAT A KOREAN DRAMA COULD MAKE YOU SHUFFLE AROUND THIS POINTLESSLY WHEN ITS OVER?! It left me wishing that LSG and HJW could come together, make another show--but even with the same cast, director, writer, it wouldn't be the same. Because quite simply, it was this show that left the imprint. Bittersweet, but a reminder that it was time to come back to real life, no matter how beautiful and heartwrenching it is to leave the clouds.

But for all those of you who are going through cold turkey like me (because quite honestly, I can't bear the emotional investment again--once is more than enough), check this out http://koalasplayground.com/2012/05/26/the-cast-of-the-king-2-hearts-attend-end-of-drama-celebration/#more-25186

Thanks for making my day with your comments after every db recap--they were some poignant, some side-splittingly funny. I will seriously miss this show! :d

Don't go cold turkey! Just watch it again and hopefully the withdrawals would be much easier this time around :) I can absolutely relate. First Kdrama that I've followed while it was still airing. I actually thought I can hold out until the end so I can do a marathon but reading the recaps and fan reactions made me change my mind. I'm actually looking forward to the weekend so I can rewatch most of the eps, I already started with 1-3 so hoping I can at least get to 10 by next week!
Also, I never ever thought I would love Seung Gi and HJW as much as I do now, but am definitely fangirling for them! I could only hope that the critics and award shows in Korea would recognize them for their brilliant portrayals of their character. Don't even get me started on Earnest Bot, he definitely deserves all the attention that he's getting now!

been a DB follower since long ago but never felt compelled to comment..but K2H is just a masterpiece..i cannot help but comment

as every1 here, I would also love for LSG and HJW to do a project 2gether again but I don't think producer would want to cast them as K2H has low ratings (beats me why) and they lean more toward re-casting those leads in high rated dramas as they hope the success can be repeated

Love reading all your comments...

I have started rewatching from Ep 1 last Sat and got my husband hooked on it, now at Ep 9.

Am amazed at how I'm still so caught up in the drama as if I'm watching for the first time!
I find HA so cool in the first few episodes, cannot forget the scene whereby she had JH on the floor and told him that she is trained to kill him at sight. Can't stop gushing to my HB how cool she was.
Then there's the scene whereby JH stopped the car after hearing that JK has died, and faced the traffic below in ep 8, how he tried very hard to restrain himself and suppress his grief and then turned to Sec Eun to give instructions. And the scene after where he let himself tear in the privacy of his room while removing his bow tie... I'm so moved by LSG's acting in those scenes.

Oh... and I want to add I find JH so irritatingly immature and bratty in the first few episodes and I never thought I could like him so much by Ep 20... it just goes to show how good this drama is in transforming LJH convincingly into a worthy King.

And HA... Just love how consistent she was throughout the drama.

Not finished... up to Ep 9 now on the rewatch.
I can't wait to see Ep 10 for the epic faceoff between JH and BG.

Yep, I really wanted to slap him when he belittled HA about not being a woman.
His transformation is quite amazing...

No offence to SK fans, but K2H is really a show about the transformation of LJH and his love story with KHA, and North-South Korean relations.
If fans are only watching for SK and dissing the drama just because SK died, then I can only say they are giving up the entire lush forest for a tree.

Prepare your tissue dear :D
Yes, he is...metamorphosed? Maybe that's the suitable word? But as we seen what he had gone through his metamorphoses is believable :)

We had talked this before, and I'm agree with the other. But I don't mind to talk about this again (since I met them almost everywhere in timeline (¯―¯٥) ) Most of the fans who let down the drama because of SK's death (That I see in my Timeline) are usually who shipping him with Jae Shin. Quite understandable, since the two relationship is much simpler and easier to understand than Jae Ha-Hang Ah's, their dialogue is simple and earnest bot's choice of words is simply melting. Compared this to Jae Ha-Hang Ah's which dialogue transcending through gesture and slight movement, their relationship is much more conventional (Knight in shining armor and Damsel in distress).

I'm laughing so hard, when they say: Jae Ha-Hang Ah's relationship isn't romantic at all compared to Jae Shin-Shi Kyung's, I mean, really? So don't you understand the meaning of their action toward each other? *still LOL-ing.

Your analogy about the forest and tree is so beautifully put, though I think they do so because they don't understand 'what happened' and more likely the person who fast forwarding scene (well I know one who do so) only to see their bias.

All I can say for them is, watch TK2H in open mind, because it means to be learned, Not just an act of hysteria fangirl :)

"I’m laughing so hard, when they say: Jae Ha-Hang Ah’s relationship isn’t romantic at all compared to Jae Shin-Shi Kyung’s, I mean, really? So don’t you understand the meaning of their action toward each other?"

well, saving your man's life not only once but twice, urging him to face his biggest fear and at the same time comforting him when everything is falling apart arent considered romantic at all? haha. Those people must have different criteria of romantic relationship. What HA and JH share is beyond romantic relationship. They're the dream team, the duo and everything that Crazyahjummafan has described.

And another thing that I love about the hero/heroine here is that they are NOT perfect. Like JH was such a brat in the beginning but then did his best to be a king. With HA's help, for sure. And the badass HA, although she saved JH's life twice, she still couldnt save SK on the cliff (we as the viewers must think that oh, HA is there, everything is gonna be alright, she's gonna save the day as usual).

And yes, this drama emphasizes the importance of a process. That life is often an ugly truth, but what matters most is how you handle and cope with it, not the result. It is about what and how you learn. And it's a neverending process, and that is why K2H has an open ending: the Club M is still there, the tension between South and North is still being an issue.

And I love the fact that there's a mutual learning process here among the characters. JH learns a lot from HA and vice versa, JS and SK learns from each other, and so on. In the bigger picture, it is about how people need each other.

0

hahaha, i had the same urging too -
that goes to show how good the acting is - if they elicit such strong reactions from the viewers.
LSG has perfected the bratty act!
...and then he cried ---waaahhhhh and we all cried with him.
...and when he smiled -I could hear a collective swoon from across the seas...
....i stood in attention when he was King-ly - all authority and serious business!
...i ached when he felt deep sorrow from losing his brother, who was like a father and brother and friend and mentor to him.
...i wanted to hug him to erase the pain of betrayal from a trusted senior Eun Tae...
---i shared his joy from finding his love in Hang Ah
---i adored him when he first showed pangs of jealousy over SK .
--- i stopped breathing when a gun was pointed at his head..
--- i wept with him when he wept tears of blood over SK's dying moments
... i clapped and cheered when he reached the finished line of the 60 km run
and when he completed the mission at WOC MacGyver style
.... i wished him the best when he got married and had a son

to be continued - i have to run to work now

This drama was so AMAZING... I think I haven't realised yet that it is already over! It's like I'm still waiting for the next episode!
The storyline, the actors, the characters, the soundtrack... I loved everything in this drama!
For sure, the only annoying thing is the death of Eun Shi Kyung (because for me, they all have suffered enough with Bong Gu). Nevertheless, it's still a damn good drama!
And for me, it shows perfectly that Lee Seung Gi has turned into a pretty great actor! When you watch Strong Heart or 1N2D, you understand that he is much more mature in his acting! Now I like him even more!
Well, I guess it's one of those drama to ABSOLUTELY see! =)

Ahhh...stress!!

Just a thought: TK2H is made more memorable with the death of Earnest Bot. The pain of loosing him not only made Jae Ha stronger, it made Jae Shin independent as well. When I first saw the translation of Jae Shin's song, it didn't make sense but once I saw it again after his death, it totally make sense.

"...TK2H is made more memorable with the death of Earnest Bot. "

If SK hadn't died then whenever there was imminent danger JH would've used him as a crutch to seek strength and support. After he died and war b/w the Koreas was about to break out....JH independently handled the situation with aplomb. He had nobody to be vulnerable to (even HA was away!).

He still sought out strength during that flashback of his hyung and SK and acted upon it. It took the trust, belief, and love of JK, HA, and SK for him to be propelled into greatness. As 'random person' pointed earlier in this thread: Prince JH didn't really give a fig about what the South Korean people thought. Whereas King JH actively wanted to pursue and change the opinions of the minority who were against him and HA. The reason: they were his people too!! <3

I want to write this, since I've promised^^ yes @crazyajummafan this is what I've promised :)

Do you remember, when Jae Ha went to North Korea, we were shown that he visit 3 place?:
1. Chicken Farm
2. Noodle Restaurant
3. Kae Seon Youth Park

Random? No! :)
1. Chicken farm: I've made an explanation before in episode 12 comments that Chicken Farm is such an important commodity which was proudly mentioned by North Korea. Even the late Kim Jong Il apparently had scheduled visit to their chicken farm, just googled "Chicken farm North Korea" and there is article about how proud they are, various visit from KJI to chicken farm. It just a proof of how important chicken farm in North Korean life. So..visit them is one obligation, no?

2. Noodle restaurant
This is an assumption of course, but noodle is staple food in North Korea. More over, how they present is different with South Korea one, its what symbolically said, pure and authentic, North korean noodle is. While I googled this, I even stumbled upon this article: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/blackberry/p.html?id=482697 which comparing Noodle and Choco pie, interesting it is.
As an addition, based on recent year data, number of noodle restaurant in pyeongyang was increasing, due to economic growth. I forgot where I look at this article, pardon me.

3. Kae Seon Youth park
This is my favorite segment among the three. Kae Seon Youth park was under reconstruction in 2009, the rides was placed with all-new-ride and was designed and produced by italian company. This fun park is North Korean answer toward Disneyland which they think is capitalism. Just check this article:
http://m.cnngo.com/explorations/life/inside-north-koreas-amusement-parks-possibly-happiest-places-country-113961
And now, to explain a bit why Kae Seon is such a luxury in pyong yang (Or North Korea is):
http://thethemeparkguy.com/park/pyongyang-fun-fairs/photos
In the 2nd article, you see no light at the night and the comparison between (new)Kaeseon park and the old fun park. Why no light? Truthfully, there is an article of Indonesian who visit North Korea which mention this but it's in Indonesian so I couldn't put it here. The conclusion is, North Korea decide to save energy, thus after sunset the electricity was cut off, which lead in no light in road nor heater in home. (also result in increasing death during winter). If you happen to see North Korean picture from satellite in night, you'll see that North Korea is pitch black, except pyongyang. I don't know if the author of the article (happiest place in NK) is joking or not, but it's quite understandable if people think it suspicious.

Btw, I've found new article: http://www.americaninnorthkorea.com/2011/11/06/u-s-imperialists-visit-the-pyongyang-fun-fair/
Notice how similar the pirate in the one in the drama, this brought smile to my lips, this drama, do this job well.

i just took note on what that German guy was saying that when on the streets people walk differently but when they're in the amusement park totally normal.
it's really sad to know that because I'm pretty sure day by day they live in some kind of fear or they have that sense that all of them are being watched.
also, on the side of the article it says visit NK! they have lifted a ban for americans visiting NK. the last article too, the american guy visiting NK. i'm surprised they had him took those pics. i guess, those were relatively safe fotos. still i couldn't help but notice that although the people looked healthy some looked malnourished.
i'm glad the government put up some amusement parks (3) at least there's something.
i still think they should do something about the family KIM.
if North Korea sincerely wants changes it must start with them. :/

My half brain tells me the committee changed the voting system to the less accurate than last year more accurate one (not the most accurate, or really accurate), even though my another half brain tells me that it's the same as 'like' on facebook. Maybe I'm just too afraid. I'm still clicking like crazy, though, since I have the time for now, and I want to see this great drama climbs the higher place. It deserves higher position than its position now. ^^

Yes, it's already time to vote. It seems they changed it to this type of voting system. When we voted for LSG back in 2010 it wasn't like this.

Someone posted the SDA link in Soompi several weeks back but when I checked it out only RTP was there and TK2H wasn't still an entry. But it was only today that I decided to check it out when there was again a post in Soompi only to find out TK2H is already an entry.

Since we are already against the odds, all I can think of is John Mayer vs Jae Ha. If only we can find that 1% so that we have the strength to win :) Keep voting hearties :)

So they're weeks apart. Arghhh, it's unfair.
Other questions, if you don't mind. ^^
Why they're not in the entry at the same time? Does it depend on when the production companies register their dramas there? Does it mean some dramas get more votes than others because they were registered earlier than others? If so, and it's really the voting, again, it's unfair, SDA. Arghh stress!

@Shi Kyung's soul -

Since you asked, I highly recommend The Princess' Man. (It was good enough for me to brave a website that was mostly in Korean to order it for my Christmas present.) Park Shi Hoo and Moon Chae Won are the leads, and they do a wonderful job. MCW is such a strong heroine and reminds me in a lot of ways of Hang Ah, even down to one part about -- SMALL SPOILER AHEAD --
threatening to bite her tongue to death).

I loved Me Too, Flower, also, though very different from the above. Baker King's Yoon Si Yoon is the lead and 9 years younger than his co-star, Lee Ji Ah, but wow, their chemistry is...reminds me of JH and HA.

Just can't seem to get away from making comparisons to our TK2H. As someone said, they set the bar high.

Although it doesn't count but in case you still want to show your love for TK2H, there's a software called Autoclick helps you to vote automatically, search google to find. I think fans of other dramas use it too.

Okay hearties, I don't know how accurate it is.

It's from the princess man's facebook. They said, "The hearts posted on the website do NOT function as a vote. The total counts don't affect the judging results. It's just for fun and to see if the public care about the submissions."

But, as @yellow buttercup said, keep clicking, just in case.^^

If anyone is still reading this, can you tell me which episode is it that he realizes he is in love with her?

Required fields are marked *

Of course I am!^^

Truthfully, I think this drama has no definite episode 'he realize that he love her', he is interested in her for sure, at the episode 5 he can't stop talk about her, and he has empathy for her, like what he talked at the end of episode 4 when they were resting.
That moment in episode 6, is his turning point to consider her, but I don't think it's love yet. Maybe it's episode 8, when she comfort him, or maybe it's episode 11 when he realize she bear(and lose) his child. I don't know

Btw, I love how their love grow. No definite moment it is (or at least for me), because love means to grow in process, I believe that. If there is definite moment, you'll think, 'oh he/she love her/him because she/he is animal caring(example)'. Thus, you can't deny your interest of him/her.
And I'm no 'love at first sight' term supporter either, for me it supposed to be named interest. Because love, for me is when you are willing to accept his good & his flaws (But it doesn't mean blind of it), and it can't happened at the first meeting, I believe it need process :)

I'm sorry for blabbering for a short question, I'll keep my mouth now*bow*

No, I like babbling, please go on. Your point of view is interesting because as I re-watch all the episodes and until the very end is when they both declare that they love each other. Only in the final 2 episodes we see that. To me that is kind of out there for k-drama where you see how much they love and appreciate each other without having to say the words. That is why I love this drama so much. That is what makes this drama different from the other ordinary k-dramas. The angst is not the typical ordinary kind but a different mind boggling kind. Does that make any sense??? Now it is my turn to babble on and on....

I agree with you...
I think the attraction is there, only got stronger as the events unfold.
Hard to say whether there is a definite moment for JH that the realises that he loves her, but if I had to choose, I think it could be the moment when he heard her speech during the public trial or when he heard that she lost the baby.

he was definitely interested in her very early in the show, but i honestly think he fell in love with her at Jeju, during the matching making meeting. When she ran towards him... i think it was that instant when he realised that she loves him as him, not Lee Jae Ha the crown prince, but just Lee Jae Ha.

i'm more interested in when she fell in love with him... as in the moment she realised she really loved him, not just like him. Cos we know from quite early in the show she was already keen, despite his assy-ness (remember the flashback she had after her dad spoke to her about whether she was interested in Jae Ha? she thought of the moments when he was attractive, then remembered all the nasty moments?)

just thought about it - i answered my own question!

Of course, it's during the same moment Hang Ah decided to love Jae Ha anyway. It's that run!

She sat the whole day thinking about the slide show and the piano seduction and all that had happened with Jae Ha before... and decided that if his heart is with her, then they can surmount all obstacles in love - their North-South difference, their personality difference, status difference, the fact that he can be an ass... everything.

And i said 'decided to love' because simply... love is a decision. She loved him even when he was still an ass.. and before he became the man he is at ep 20.

=)

0

I also think it is in jeju when he hugs her back and remember the next day he asked DH(?) if he could keep HA as his secret lover...

0

You're right about love being a decision. It's actually a will. If we simply go by feelings, those feelings will one day change - because we can't always sustain the euphoria of those feelings. Also, when we get to know the party better, there will be things that irritate us or upset us. But if love is based on WILL, then all those things don't matter. Because we love inspite, we love despite. (Get my drift?)

Remember what QD said to JH when he sent HA back? She said humans are very childish. When we fight, we sometimes just want to hurt the other person because we want the upper hand. So we say hurtful things that we don't really mean. But that is no reason to ask the other person to leave. I interpret this as not to stop loving that person.

That's why JH was bowled over by HA. Despite his faults and jerkiness, she still loved him. And he probably realised that this kind of love probably only comes once in a lifetime.
And he decides to love her back.

0

@bern75
"I’m more interested in when she fell in love with him"... as for your question, I think Hang-Ah answered this herself when she was being questioned by the public. During her interview after a couple of re-watch of Ep. 10 she clearing states that after a certain incident is when she comes to realize that she does love Jae-Ha and will always have him in her heart.

0

@bern75

"And i said ‘decided to love’ because simply… love is a decision"

@crazyajummafan

"Because we love inspite, we love despite."

Love these lines that you guys said.

I'm trying to get over K2H, so I started watching SEGA and I'also trying to watch A gentleman's dignity.Same writer as SEGA. Some of the romantiC scene kindna resemble SEGA but I don't see a real chemistry between the main actors and the dialogue are not as crisp , fast and natural as SEGA.Somehow Hyun bin delivered the dialogue so much better. But its also a little entertaining so i'll persevere till HJW, HB and LSG come up with a new drama. How about putting the 3 in one drama?. It will be DAEBACK

'I'm sorry', 'Thank you' and 'I love you'.
3 simple phrases and yet they mean so much, especially from a man. I had just written a comment about these 3 phrases in 221.2.5.3.1 in page 5, and while hanging out the laundry, lol, I realised why I love them so much.
These 3 words mean a lot in any relationship and as I had already explained why they were important, I will not repeat myself. However, what I also love about them is the order in which they were given.

It starts with 'I'm sorry' - always the most difficult, but oh so necessary in setting the stage for the other person to listen to whatever else you have to say, and to show sincerity and humility - so important in any relationship.

'Thank you' - appreciation for all that the other party has done. So often forgotten or taken for granted, but so edifying and encouraging to know that what you have done has been noticed and appreciated.

When these 2 phrases have been said first, the confession of love is more sincere and genuine and it means so much more. It's easier to say 'I love you' than sorry and thank you, I feel, because one is an admission of wrong and the other a sign of indebtedness. Love is about being humble enough to say you're sorry when you are wrong and to appreciate the other person enough to say thank you.

<3 love this sharing, crazyajumma. :)

And... all hearties still here spazzing, huh? yup, ít's cliche but 'sorry' is the hardest word. and difficult to utter cos instinctively human beings hate to be wrong.

y'know, I had an ephiphany while driving just now... Jae Ha is very much like his mom, isn't it - foot-in-mouth syndrome, a temper to boot and can't live it down if they wronged someone? and remember, his mom was a commoner? it's like they wrote Jae Ha's character this way on purpose. I bet his hyung Jae Kang was very much more like his dad, the proper royal... always right, not a hair out of place, never the first to pick the fight. and that's why hyung was so upset about Jae Ha firing that shot at Hang Ah, cos Jae Ha couldn't rise above his instinctive reactions.

but at the end of the drama, Jae Ha has truly shown that he can be dignified, rise above his instincts and truly become royal. (ref back to my thoughts in comment #172).

am again amazed by his growth.

@crazyajummafan:
*nodding head* so true, so true.
I'm glad you ended up write this, since you have better words than me^^. Agree for the humble and the difficulty

And those three words, aren't that the philosophy of love are? You hurt (thus need to say sorry), you give (thus symbolically in grateful) and you share (Love it self).
When you fall in love, you can't stop in just one, you had to experienced all to understand what love is.

More importantly, I love how he give them in form of skin care. As someone had explained, skin care products need to use everyday. By this mean, Jae Ha ask and state that he is begging forgiveness, feeling grateful and stating love for her for each day. Also, by the means of skin care, it might not seen, but it's essential to do. So... In other words, Jae Ha understand how crucial those three words are, and I'm glad he is.

I also love those three words, because it's not limited to lovers, but applied to any kind of love. Take parent example as love, parent's is that unconditional love, They always forgive us, feel grateful for our presence, and love us*excuse me for blow my nose now, tears*. I had babbled about these three words in my timeline 1 month ago, but the realization of those three words hits me 1 week after and i was crying to realize all my mistake towards my parents.

Since I have no lovers (at this time) omma, appa, mianhae, gomawo, saranghae, I'll learn how to use these three words properly from now on :')

Required fields are marked *

As usual, what a great elaboration, crazyajummafan.
If people could sincerely say those three expressions to others, it would make a better world. If you're wrong, say sorry. If you're grateful, say thank you. Then, end it with the expression to show how much you love him/her, how much he/she is loved, that is 'I love you'.

JH and HA's life really represents those three expressions. When JH didn't say sorry to HA when he said HA is not a woman, they were in 'war'. JH started to grow up and directly said sorry to HA after he hurt her feeling about the poor NK. Then he gave her those grandiose skin-care products. In the BBQ party, JH thanked HA for being there for him and with him. What is the effect of those two magic words? HA said 'I love you' to JH before she exploded the US basecamp. In the end, JH also said he loves HA.

JH and HA journey shows how difficult to say these expressions. But once they get used of them, what a better world they're created.

I thought i could move on from this drama. I really did. I thought the chaos at the end of senior year would be enough to keep me distracted from K2H withdrawal symptoms.. But.. today, i have some time to myself.
And then i got sad.. nostalgic.
I miss this drama so much. I'm replaying the OST..
And i'm doing something that i never do with K-dramas..
Rewatch the whole thing from start to finish. This summer, i will just marathon the whole thing from start to finish.
And buy it when it comes on DVD somehow.
I keep searching for news about the end of the drama for some closure..
I'm currently watching Queen In Hyun's man -- although only at ep.7 due to busy schedule. It's cute.romantic, and smartly executed.
But, i realized, nothing can fill this missing gap in me.. Tomorrow, K2H would have supposed to air another episode. But then i must come to accept.. this is really the end..
Ha Ji Won and Seung Gi, you have completely etched yourself in my hearts.
I will wait.. until both choose another drama -- and why do i feel like the roles they take on just won't be the same as the king and queen.
I'll shamelessly admit that i will be comparing, being frustrated.. Just because this drama is my love.
Can any other drama fill this void in me? I'm going to go watch some horror movies now. Oddly enough, it might shake off my frustration at lack of satisfaction from other dramas by striking terror into my empty heart.
K2H, i miss you. I love you. That is all.

Congrats on prom/graduation/etc!!!

I agree about QIHM. I've been marathoning it (I'm up to episode 10 now) in the hopes of filling the gaping wound in my soul left by TK2H, and though it's really cute and well done, I just haven't been able to get super excited about it. I guess I'm expecting everything I watch now to have as much depth and richness as TK2H, which is clearly quite unrealistic.

Has anybody watched Padam Padam? I was browsing some reviews on Dramafever and noticed that many of the reviews used similar language to describe PP that we use to describe TK2H--dark comedy, complex, layered, strong character development, etc. I'm considering watching that in the hopes of shaking off my post-TK2H depression.

Or mabye I'll follow Mango's advice and watch The Princess's Man. I've heard great things about that, but have been avoiding it because of all the comparisons to Romeo and Juliet. I love R & J, but I have trouble committing to a "doomed love" story (same reason I'm avoiding What Happened in Bali).

Oh yes. JB mentioned in her series review of Princess Man that although it was labeled as a "tragic" romeo&juliet story, for us, it was more thrilling.. It kept you on edge.. The only resemblance to romeo&juliet was the way it was set up. Both families hated each other, and they simply could not get married. But the story took it up a notch and it was addictive. I was scared my heart would leap out of my body. I fell in love with their romance. (and TINY spoiler : it's not anywhere near as bad as ending for what happened in bali. ;) In fact, i left feeling satisfied.)

Oh is that how the story is going to end? Star crossed lovers and all? I thought of watching it cos I think Moon Chae Won is a good actress (better n prettier than Han Hyo Joo in BL), but if that's the way the show's gonna end, I won't watch. I LOVE happy endings.

Forgive me if I'm wrong but I don't remember during the time TK2H aired they ever praised uri Seung-gi for his acting and /or looks!! sheesh, they were only bothered about the bloody ratings.

HAAA!! It took him to take the int'l viewers by storm for them to notice that he's no longer the nation's younger brother but also has blossomed into a 'fine' actor. Amongst his peers he's the best singer-turned-actor. Loving the accolades he's finally receiving as an actor!!

Boooyahhhhh!! That's how our boy does it!! <3

I can't start watching another drama again. I am giving myself around 3 times of rerun ...then will see if I can already move on.

Finally found the time to watch TK2H again.
Watched ep 1, and I must say that it's like aged wine. It gets better and better. First couple of times it was more for plot development. This round I was able to appreciate the background music more. I realize that its very subtle, unlike other dramas where the music can be very obvious, or the OST played repeatedly.

I also realized that Jae Ha's strong character was already very evident even as early as ep 1. Although he is immature and irresponsible, he's very astute. But it was during his first encounter with SK that showed that he was a man with 'iron balls' who would not back down when faced with a challenge and return the challenge.

Initially, when backed into a corner - participate in the WOC or be stripped of your title and money, JH knew he had no choice but to comply. Typically, he tried finding an easy way out. He asked SK to shoot him, just grazing his finger, but SK decided to call his bluff and pulled out his gun, thinking that JH would show fear and acquiesce. However, JH did the opposite. You can see that he was initially taken back, but true to his nature, he refused to let the other party intimidate him. Instead of showing fear, he challenged SK back. It is this 'fearlessness cum recklessness' that led him to eventually defeat BG. I did not see this earlier, but can appreciate it better now.

I also believe that it was THIS moment that SK began to respect JH. I was looking at SK's facial expressions which are always so perfectly executed. When JH was trying to find ways to get out of the training, SK was frowning slightly. It was as if he was wondering in his Bot mind, how a royal could behave so cowardly. Then later, when JH shot him, he eyes first widened in shock and disbelief, but it later soften and you can actually SEE the respect in his eyes for JH, even when JH was threatening him. He even said the JH was not what he had expected him to be and he gave one of his rare smiles.

I'm falling in love with this show all over again!

I also noticed that HA somehow didn't look as pretty in this episode as in the later ones. It's as if her love for JH and his love for her made her prettier.

Haha! Even Sec Eun and QD look considerably younger, esp Sec Eun. His hair at the very beginning when JK and JH were kids was all black. Love the attention to details.

I always love your thoughts.

I am re-watching with my husband (first time re-watching a kdrama for me!), and I noticed how much better/more assured the directing got over time. Not that it was bad in the first few episodes (on the contrary, it was very stylish and well edited; particularly the older scenes in episode 1), but you can tell that by episode 4, the director really hit his stride and it just kept getting better and better from there.

omigosh!!

My lovely and beautiful fellow Hearties have been frequenting this thread and I've been away. whaaaaaaaat?! How could I commit such an atrocity?! :D

1. I have some good news to share with ya'll. I'm now a board certified professional!! woot woooot!! I totally forgot about my results due to being enraptured in the delicious whirlpool that is TK2H!! <3

2. Here's Seung-gi sharing his thoughts on acting with an enviable ensemble cast. Poor puppy was despondent in the month of February that he'd be the weakest link of the lot. gahhhh!! Hearties, this boy needs a cyber hug from us. He'll pretty much suffocate with our affection (obsession, whatever). *cough cough*

I love that he's smart to know that a role like LJH will be difficult to come by again in his career. And, favourite quote of his:

"If I insisted on the actor’s path after getting a bit of praise and thinking ‘Ah, now my acting eyes have been opened,’ it’s likely that I’ll regress quickly.” -LSG

Why is he soo bloody perfect?! And, Seung-gi 'a bit of praise'...why do you lie!! :P

3. Wanted to share some fanvids:

a. I've shared this before but it's just THAT good. I showed it to my coworkers and they were so enthralled that it was hilarious. We are hopefully going to marathon this baby sometime in the forthcoming weeks!! :D

Their words: "This guy is so effin gorgeous!!" heeeeeee. And, other compliments that CANNOT be mentioned here!! :D

Uri puppy has definitely blossomed into perfection, ne?

b. I positively flushed down to the tips of my toes while watching this one. It's the usual fare but the song + slow tempo of scenes (whatever the term is) lends a beautiful effect!!

Let me share you a story about my friend became an Airen. It's a long story actually and I bet you'll get bored reading it. So, to make it short, I showed her this cut.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cIzSEiNe1cc
Then, she went 'awwwwwww', then asked me the complete episode. I think you can guess what happened after that. ^^
In short, only praises related to Seung Gi we can hear from her. It's been two months now and her life is full of Seung Gi.
And, today, my other friend looked at my desktop with Seung Gi's photo as the wallpaper.
Her reaction: "Wooooow, georgeous, what's his name?"
And my newly Airen friend, showed her the video of Seung gi singing 'slave' live. I think the video was posted by a hearty before. You know what, she replayed it again and again. Every time she look at my desktop, she's like wooooow. When the three of us went out for dinner together, my newly Airen friend and I filled her head with everything Seung gi. While talking, he asked me, "What's his name once again?" and smiled. I think it's about time for her to fall under his spell. And I'm sore I don't need to wait longer. Hehe.

@ Minea
I found it better to watch from ep 27, when Seunggi first joined. In fact I marathoned it last year and found it as addictive as a drama. It made me laugh, it made it cry. And the bromance killed me. If you watch it from ep 27, you'll get a better sense of the bromance unfolding.

It's the BEST variety show ever - not so sure of season 2 however, as I've only watched 2 episodes. It's got everything in it - games, laughter, Seunggi, fun, tension, Seunggi, bromance, it's heart warming, excitement, food, Seunggi, travel info, spontaneity, and did I mention, Seunggi?

0

@crazyajummafan:

I agree with you that Minea should watch it from the beginning. I was mentioning about downloading since KBS very quickly blocks/deactivates links. There's a greater likelihood of links being fine if it's a newer episode than an older one.

The megaupload fiasco earlier this year should be a lesson to all of us that we better start downloading asap.

0

@crazyajummafan, @saima

I watched like 3 eps last night starting when the Uhm force joined. OMG! It was hilarious. I started downloading from that eps too. I'll take your suggestions and start at that episode you're talking about. Shoot, i just want to hoard all the 1n2d eps! I just hope my laptop can handle the stress of all my downloading activities.

Thanks for encouraging me to watch 1n2d. I didn't know what i've been missing! *kiss kiss*

0

It is understandable, I am seeing Seunggi with new eyes. I've been watching him on and off throughout the years and never given any thought of him. I even have few 1n2d eps save from before and an appearance of SEunggi as a guest in Happy Together. I am thankful i did not delete all those episodes as I keep rewatching them now. I rewatch MGiaGumiho and appreciate it more as how much he had improve from there to the awesome King Jaeha. He has gain lots of new fans through this role.

The last time I had a similar visceral despondency after completing a show was Nobuta wo Produce. I watched it last year and after watching it didn't watch any dramas for 2-3 months. So, missed the 49 Days (it's a good thing, in hindsight) and CH train.

Surely, I have Drama emotional issues. HAAA!!! I JUST feel so bereft and feel like watching QIHM will make me appreciate the drama less. Everyone's been raving...i NEED TIME TO MOVE ON!! lulz

0

@Saima,

A J-drama of school life? Really? You like it so much? Maybe I will check it out. The story sounds a bit like Emma.

Since I did watch 49 Days and I have nothing better to do (sad!), I will just write some quick critique of it. What a mismatch of the Girl 1 (the sad one) and the scheduler! Can anyone really believe they WERE in love??? He looks like her son! Don't get me wrong, I love the actress (as in Surgeon Boom Dal Hee, and even Fashion 70's). But her vibes, her looks, her persona, they just don't match those of the scheduler! That other pairing (the bubbly girl and Kang) was not much better scripted as there was barely anything happening in their relationship to explain Kang's persistence. An interesting concept failed miserably in execution.

Required fields are marked *

I haven't watched any J-dramas! Should I watch Nobuta wo Produce?

And yeah, I actually have been watching QIHM in an attempt to "move on" and it's just not the same. Of course, it's a totally different type of drama, and it does what it's trying to do *very* well, it just feels kinda...empty? I know exactly what you mean about your drama issues...I was sooooo emotionally and intellectually invested in TK2H, moving on from it feels sorta like when a childhood pet dies and your parents are like "let's get a new puppy!" and you're all, "I don't want a new puppy! I want to cry for Mr. Snuffles!"

Moral of the story: TK2H=Mr. Snuffles. Maybe I should hold a freakin funeral for the show and then I'll move past it? Waah.

@rearwindow YOU SHOULD! it's a real good laugh. great story about friendship too.

for another great laugh, do take your time with Hana Kimi (the first one not the recent remake using idols. meh) and for a little melodrama, try Nagareboshi. Japanese dramas tend to be much shorter than kdramas just like @saima said.

This is his third kdrama. We watched Lie to Me together (first drama for both of us. Thank goodness it started out strong, because we were emotionally invested enough in it that we gave other kdramas a shot even after the disappointing final half of LTM) and then he watched City Hunter with me.

He likes TK2H a lot, though he was skeptical at first because he really didn't like Jae-ha's character. He's even less tolerant than I am of douchey male leads (I tend to hate them on principle but tolerate them if there are other redeeming qualities for the drama). I told him "just wait and see" and then during the entire fourth episode, he was watching with a huge smile on his face. Since then, he's pretty much hooked. We're on episode 8 and he keeps asking me when we can watch the next episode. I had to take a little break after episode 19 & 20 because watching earlier in the series made me too emotional (kinda pathetic, I know). But we'll probably pick it back up in the next couple of days.

0

@ AnnMichellle:

Don't lie, sister!! You musta been doing cartwheels in your heart of hearts!! :D

0

@AnnMichelle & Rearwindow:

NwP is possibly one of the best high-school genre dramas I've watched, ever. It isn't akin to a Dream High....it's quite dark with themes of friendship, popularity, suicide, bullying, etc. being addressed. I will HIGHLY recommend it!!

I am glad I watched this drama when I had graduated college to appreciate the message. Am pretty sure if I had watched this when I was a teen I wouldn't have appreciated it nearly as much. Like most J-doramas it's only 10 episodes long.

If you get around to watching it read the following comprehensive reviews (after watching, of course). I remember reading these reviews and tearing up (sound familiar?!, heh). When I watched Ep 1 I wanted to pretty much give up on it....it was eccentric and quite loud at times but it turned out to be quite a pleasant surprise and then some. Despite having re-watched the series many a times I've never actually completed it. Only watched Ep 9 & 10 once. The show doesn't have a tragic ending. It just ends on a poignant but oh-so-beautiful note. I just couldn't bring myself to watch it and shed buckets of tears, again. heh

http://endersgirrrl.wordpress.com/2010/05/27/drama-review-part-2-nobuta-wo-produce-ntv-2005/

Other J-doramas that I'll recommend will be:

1. Tatta Hitotsu no Koi- It's a beautiful story about first love and star-crossed lovers. The OST was SUBLIME. After TK2H we discuss how LSG metamorphosized from puppy to seksi. Right now it makes me laugh as I type this...if you saw Kazuya Kamenashi who prolly weighs umm 110 lbs or so and how he made me swoon in this drama I wouldn't have doubted LSG's ability to do the same. lulz

2. Hotaru no Hikari: This was just LOL & AWW-worthy all the way. Ayase was hilarious playing the protagonist. And, how can all of us forget the hot 'buchou' (Japanese for manager)?

3. Ouran High School Host Club: HAAA!! This was slapstick comedy at its best. It was eccentric but oh-so-fun!! I think it was 11 episodes (30 min/each) long. PERFECT!

Hope this essay helps in your next selection of dramas to watch! <3

Kame oh Kame....he started off on such a high note (NwP and THnk) but lately he's somehow doing kinda eccentric work. I started Sapuri, OPG, & YNSH but even the pretty couldn't get me to finish these series. I still remember him in THnK and sigh...

@saima, @jia min

got to try and watch your j-drama suggestions. i've only watched 1 j-drama - Hana Kimi -> a lot of LOL moments so I pretty much liked it. (I noticed that j-dramas are quite short, about 10-12 episodes on average)

0

@Minea:

You should give J-doramas a try. Unlike K-dramas they really have diverse subject matters...of the doramas that I've watched none have been along the lines of typical K-drama fare. umm, mebbe Tatta Hitotsu no Koi....the rest were different from each other.

K-drama adaptations of J-doramas don't really live upto expectations. BOF, Dr. Jin, Kimi wa Petto's K-adaptation, anyone?! They just include a lot of fanservicey stuff and dilute the effect of the story.

0

This is so awesome. Thank you for the info. I think I'll have to give J-dramas a try, starting with NwP!

Right, NwP one of the best High School drama it is.
It address many high school problem, and making us living on it. The character isn't perfect, but they are supporting each other through their flaws. Love.it.

If you'd like some other High School drama, I'd recommend "Stand Up" also starred YamaPi, whe he much much younger then when he starred in Nobuta, Nino, Ohguri and the unique personality: Hiroki Narimiya.

If NwP is about high School life, then "Stand Up" is about boys life in High School..err...s*x life it is, about virginity and all, but packaged with light and hearty tone.

What best for Jdrama is about their occupation/profession drama, lots of hearts and many BTS moment, a classic that you won't forgotten is "good Luck' (about Pilot).

For a bizzare and slapstick, I'd suggest Nodame Cantabille,, It mademe ROFL literally, and...beware you have warned!!! LOL!

J-doramas seldom veer to the eccentric side. I remember when I watched NwP Ep1....I was like, "what the frick is wrong with this hand flapping weirdo kid!!" hahaaaaaaa

Also Kimi wa Petto, anyone?! The premise was just bizarro. LOL

0

It's the first manga adaptation to live action which bring the craziness into then screen. I'm LOL-ing so much when the-unidentifid-gelly-like flowing into Tamaki's room.

Bizarre, whacko! Yes, it is!

Omigod, Takuya Kimura's "Good Luck" was totally great! I love it. Another good old jdorama is "Anchor Woman" aka "News no Onna". Oh how I miss those good old jdorama days

JDramas are a world on their own ..... that's what i thought growing up :)
wow you guys i'm feeling nostalgic right now.

i always thought most of you here were more into korean dramas and i'm so glad @yellow buttercup you mentioned "good luck" . i love that show !!!

http://youtu.be/lsPPU0FnYh0 - i hope you guys will be able to see it, if not, it's on you tube " sweet scene good luck ".

this scene alone is hands down one of the best well written "CONFESSIONS that I like thee" scenes that i couldn't find in any korean or japanese drama. to me, the dialogue in this particularly, felt the most natural, realistic and most mature. no nonsense frills or gifts to express how he/ she feels but just the sheer understanding and mutual acknowledgment of both parties that they do like each other. :)

and of course kimutaku <3, probably only one of the handful of idols that i can truly say knows how to act. :)

hope some of you check this one out. :)

sooo stressed out from a lot of stuff mainly work and been missing my weekly salve tk2h.

i hope all of you are all well. will still be here lurking to catch some news. be sure to post any sightings of our casts and everything tk2h related. i would really appreciate it. please please don't ever stop talking hearties :)

CONGRATS TO SAIMA !!!

0

@yellow Buttercup:
I guess we have the same time watch it right? ;)

Omigod,,,,I miss high quality Jdorama!!
bring me back KimuTaku and Takki!!

@Maria:
I've grown up watching Jdorama, until 2009, there are many high quality Jdramas..but later...hmmm....
KimuTaku still my number one Jdorama actors (aside from Pi and Takki), this man can handle any role offered for him

0

@ maria: :D ooh thx for the linky. Another thing that I love about old jdoramas: they're inspiring.

@reglest: hoho definitely. And I also love Takki's "Boku dake no Madonna". It's funny and sweet and sometimes absurd, lol.

0

Have you seen Kimutaku's "Hero"? I think it's nice too. Loved Takuya Kimura aka Kimutaku :D

@Saima ~ Congratulation comrade Saima...i'm sorry for being late ^^

0

@Lsg lover:
Eva, you watch HERO too? That's also my favourite!!
Kiryuu-kenji, and all of his absurdity, but spot on. Oh how I love thee ㅋㅋㅋ~

0

@reglest
YES! I enjoyed watching Hero and now I'm catching up with the Jdorama since for some reason after TK2H I can't make myself to watch kdrama. I even stopped watching the QHIM...weird, it must be the virus. So now I'm checking out the Mr. Brain. So far I'm liking it. :D

0

for all of us kimutaku lovers... have u ever seen that funny clip by choi ji woo and kimura?... dang, good old days!!!

i haven't seen jdrama since 2008. :(

NwP ( really great drama)., stand up!, orange days, itazura na kiss ( didn't really like it but kashiwabara takashi was one of my crushes before.... which reminds me you guys should watch LOVE LETTER (1995) film. one of the best love story ever produced :) ), great teacher onizuka, etc. & so many others :) jdramas while really not the best now are still the standard for me. lol.

alright, i watched all three new wed/thurs dramas but just couldn't let go of tk2h. it just doesn't feel the same at all and i thought AGD would have me laughing but NO. sigh :/

0

@LSG Lover's soul:
If you are watching Mr.Brain, be prepared! You've warned! :D the twist and turn of the episode make me spinn my head round and round, a good drama, if not great! Too bad, it's only 8(or 9) episode isn't it?
I love though there are many high tech tools, but at the end, the brain is the most modern and absolutely modifiable one

@Maria:
You're right, jdoramas now..hemm..I don't know how to put it, it feels like lack of hearts (borrow Ms.Koala's word), most of it now adaptation from manga/anime, but isn't do whole hearted, it feels empty and forgottable :( Oh, how I miss those old golden days of Jdramas which stir my heart up and down

0

Aaaah, it's the end of May and the first Wednesday without TK2H.
couldn't stop thinking about it T_T

Wanted to share some lyrics from the OST of the Japanese movie, "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time". I think it really applies to my obsession over TK2H and my favourite JK/SK pairing ;

"I’ll seal the days that I spent with you into my chest
So that I’ll be all right even if I don’t recall them
Even if I were to fall in love with someone else someday
You’d always be special and important to me
And this season would come around again"

*sigh* can I safely say that I've moved on now? :')

Beautiful lyrics!! While I'd like to dull the longing I don't wanna move on...the heady feelings this drama evoked in us was quite something.

After reading comments that some of you attempted to watch other dramas and they didn't quite satisfy the feelings this drama evoked...one of the reasons could be that the writers beautifully enmeshed different genres that it satisfied to the tastes of different viewers. Save for that kiss in Ep 19 they never catered to fanservice (incl, not having LSG n JJS sing on the OST). In hindsight, I appreciate and treasure every single moment despite rolling my eyes many a times & cringing a few times.

@saima it's a beautiful movie too! you should watch it when you have the time :)
i think the longing in me will not disappear any time soon. and i agree with you, the emotions that this drama provoked in me and all of us is really really something. i might have said this a million times in different forums/comments sections but i'll say it again (just somebody try and stop me); i doubt that any other kdrama will make me feel like this (at least for now).

"In hindsight, I appreciate and treasure every single moment despite rolling my eyes many a times & cringing a few times." Amen.

TK2H is truly the kdrama of 2012 for me!

I so want to do a photo essay using the title: The King's Power.

I got inspiration from seeing some wonderful posts, mostly on Jae Ha and Hang Ah's trials and triumphs, from Baidu Tieba. Alas, my technical skills, esp. in graphics, failed me!

Here are some examples I was thinking about:
With the King's one move - pushing the panic button - guards and agents from both sides stormed in with guns drawn and the N. Korea top guy just jumped up and said "What did he do that for?!"

The S. Korea top guy, with entourage, scrambled after hearing the King's about to enter N. Korea to get Hang Ah back, "Oh, why can't he stopping making trouble?!"

When the King was at the detention center, he heard Hang Ah's voice and started running toward it, then all the others ran / chased after him.

After the meeting with Bong Gu, the King asked Shi Kyung to tear Bong Gu apart. So Shi Kyung and Dong Ha ran like mad to chase after Bong Gu, only catching a glimpse of him yelling and cursing like a REAL lunatic at some distance...

It's like when Jae Ha makes a move, he leaves a trail of debris behind him, like a hurricane passing. The king's power, literally.

I just watched the first episode and read the recap.
-First off, like JB, i am very intrigued by the plot they've so far have set up.
-It's shot very nicely. i was immediately pulled in by the quality of the show. It's supposed to be 1930, so there's definitely something different there.
-Another heroine who can actually kick ass. I had some Hang Ah vibes. Only during the fighting scene though.
-Like JB said, our hero doesn't start off as a hero. I think that's a very interesting conflict, a twist, for once.
-If this show can give us alot of heart in the near future, i will be compelled by this show.
I honestly think k-dramas are starting to venture out. And i am just glad, because it's about time we all found our right cup of tea in dramas like K2H and Bridal Mask, although this is just the beginning.
Beautiful cinematography is also one that we've been noticing lately, and this show has it so far.
Bromance is already apparent in ep.1.
hopefully, this drama delivers till the end.

0

Thanx for your first impressions, Mangoes!!

And, you're right....there's only so many times one can watch jerkwad Darcys being wishy-washy of their feelings who employ the usage of the K-drama patented wrist-grab and a female lead who's filled with spunk initially but somehow loses her spunk to said jerk!! :D

0

I'm in for Gaksital too!
Saw the trailer, and I'm pretty much interested with the cinematography, seem sleek and great!

0

wow. just saw the trailer and it looks really promising. and you're right, the cinematography is just beautiful. lots of action, too, so i'm looking forward to that.

0

Just watched it. I like it so far. But I think I have to get over TK2H withdrawal first before watching other dramas.
After having no cliches in TK2H, I just sighed finding cliches and predictable scenes in bridal mask. Too many slow motions for my taste, and sometimes over the top. This is the first time I watch Joo Won on screen and I think he's sometimes overacted.
Maybe I'm just not over TK2H yet.

but oh, i couldn't help sniggering when I read the title of the article; "Jo Jeong Seok is Screaming in Delight"

(I'd probably be fidgeting the whole time from too much suppressed fangirly emotions). He sounds really humble, too. Can't wait to see him in another drama/movie soon.

We hit it off straight away and talked and talked and talked for about an hour before we ordered lunch. I couldn't believe that we were actually strangers before this meeting. We chatted and laughed loudly like some rowdy teenagers. Oops sorry to all teenagers on this thread. We talked for about 2.5 hours before we left. We talked so much that we forgot to take a group photo. We will probably meet again so that those who didn't make it this time can join us. It was really fun!

I really had fun and had lots of laughter. I was actually rather nervous at first. Wasn't sure how it was going to go, whether we would be awkward as we were all strangers ... and you know, the warning about not meeting people you meet thru the internet? There was no need to fear. We connected instantaneously and spazzed continuously - must be our love for TK2H and the OTP. Lovecityhall's airen friend was I think probably overwhelmed by our excitement and spazzing.

And Lovecityhall, it was not 2.5 hours. We met at 12.30 and went on till 4.30.

Our next project - to meet up with those who have gone for SG's Japan concert. So please, please keep in touch. My email is cynalchoo@yahoo.com.sg. We NEED to hear from you, esp Jasmine GMT. You'd said you would drop me a line and I'm still waiting!

Another upcoming project - to crash into someone's home, probably Jade's (haha) and watch TK2Hs TOGETHER, all 20 episodes!

I was just watching epi 6 again and I noticed something I hadn't before.

After the fateful and sweet "Ah Ha moment hug", when a confused-because-he's-in-love-after-all Jae Ha goes to Hang Ah's room and tells her they need to break the engagement, she counters with "I will do it. I will marry you. Our hearts are one. It'll be hard, but together, anything's possible." She adds, "If I can be with you, I'll be happy even in prison."

Fast forward to epi 18, and a despondent Hang Ah is in a prison in China. It is there that Jae Ha "visits" her, wrapping his arms around her and comforting her.

This is just more evidence of the forethought they gave to this drama. I'm catching more of these evidences the more I watch it. I don't know when I will tire of it, but it hasn't happened yet.

Required fields are marked *

aww!!

As far as I know the writers for this drama were almost halfway done with the scripts when they started filming. This drama required a LOT of forethought, deliberation, & detailed character dev't.

Wrt the evidence (ep 18) that JH is able to uncover & make public. In Ep 10 when JH pisses off BG....you can see the purple screen right behind Sec. Eun's face. So, nice detail right there!! I know there were people who complained about 'voice print activation'....it made me realize that such a thing was never embedded into the password. If it were JH would never had access into his hyung's videos as well despite having the correct password.

The fact that all of us have agreed that the characters never failed us is because of the Hong sisters' hard work. Kudos to them!! <3

Required fields are marked *

@saima - I know, right? Kudos to the Hong sisters, absolutely.

I had heard that about the scripts being about 1/2 done when they started filming. So then, that means that it's usually NOT done that way, right? As far as Kdramas go, at least. That's gotta be stressful the way they usually do things. Easier to keep tight-lipped about the development of the plot, I suppose, that way. Makes me wonder if they had for sure planned for Shi Kyung's death from the get-go. I mean, were they firm about it from the get-go? I would like to ask them. Would that kind of info be included on a Director's Cut? I'd love to hear.

Anyway, that bit about the journal opening up at Bong Gu's "Are you happy?" and recording the evidence - and being able to see the screen in backtrack mode - brilliant!

Detective reglest or any other Heartie wish to add more?

Awww...I feel some proud to called detective hahaha~
Actually, there is something interesting about clue in this drama, pardon me for using many question marks in this post, because it's difficult to arrange into explanatory words

remember when we were wondering what had BonBon do to Jae Shin? Most of us guess terrible things, iclude r*pe and else, but tracing back, the writer had given us a very CLEAR clue, but apparently none of us realize it.

The clue it self is "Ride of Valkryes", Bong Gu's favorite piece, also the song which trigger Jae Shin's panic attack. Is it just because the song played when the 'incident' happened? I don't think so....

Let's back track, what is Ride of Valkryes?
According to Bong Gu, the song played in Gas Chamber for Jew in Hitler's regign, of course this is a perfect song to accompany the murder of our beloved Jae Kang.
Stop there? NO

It's actually shameful, because I know "ride of Valkryes" and I also know what valkrye is (thanks for tha absurdity plot of Xena which decorating my teenager mind), but I don't realize it untl the end. And when I realize this, I'm awed at the brilliance of the writer, because it isn't just a clue for Jae Shin's memories, but knowing this means adding layer for Bong Gu.

The clue it self lies beneath the name of 'Valkrye', what is Valkrye? a valkyrie (from Old Norse valkyrja "chooser of the slain") is one of a host of female figures who decide who falls and dies in battle. (cited from wikipedia page of Valkrye)

So...what is it?
Valkrye, chose the one who dies, in my own word, valkrye is almost similar like God of Death, but in much more honorable mention. Now, back to our drama: a female, choose someone who die, in battlefield..does it sound like Jae Shin to you?
I think this is the reason why the writer choose ride of valkryes to trigger Jae Shin's memory, and not another, because the song remind her self that 'she choose to kill her own brother'

So what do I mean with adding layer for Bong Gu?
Valkryes work under Odin
Odin is a principal member of the Æsir (the major group of the Norse pantheon) and is associated with war, battle, victory and death, but also wisdom, magic, poetry, prophecy, and the hunt. (citation from wikipedia, Odin page)
War, magic....and when you put Bong Gu there...You know that he consider him self as Odin, the highest god of war...and ordering valkrye (Jae Shin) to pick up a soul in battle (war)

Simply put, by this song, Bong Gu isn't just placed him self as the God for hiw own satisfaction, but to blame Jae Shin's (mentality), that she is the Valkrye...(and considering Jae Shin study abroad for music, I bet she understand this)

that's my analyses, what do you think hearties?

PS: about Shi Kyung's death, the rumor of his death had been circulating since few first episodes but it rises again in episode 16, and by that time it's pointed out that he'd died in epi 19

Wow, reglest. May I ask the same question that Jae Shin asked Shi Kyung after he sang "First Love" back to her, note for note, word for word?

"Are you a genius?"

I don't ask that sarcastically in the least bit. You are awesome and deserve more than Detective.

Your analysis sounds spot on to me. No... perhaps not even the writers thought of that! Okay, maybe they did. But I think they should give you an award for discovering their clues.

WOW reglest. You are so brilliant. Our government should hire you as an investigator. Really. Perhaps you have the IQ of 187 as our king?

Excellent investigation as usual Reglest! What will we do without you? Your research has made me and I am sure other hearties more appreciative of the drama.

Thank you MadamJ, I needed that! What a crack up! I had to wipe off my laptop after watching that. And the comments were just as hilarious. Rat's nest to gerbil's nest? LOL! Aw, poor LSG, having to succumb to the will of the hairstylist, though I guess it's true that to some extent he's to blame.

No wonder Bon Bon was an aspiring hairdresser. A form of torture? Maybe for the audience. ;)

Beginning to think that Seunggi puppy's stylist probably saved his life once & was gratefully but shortsightedly
( & regrettably ) rewarded with a Lifetime Employment deal as The Forever Hair Manglelist . She/he lives in the Copacabana past of padded shoulders & gravity-defying Birdnest-hairdos.
She/He probably has some intimidating clout & no one , but no one can utter a careless whisper about what the world ( us & other like-minded fans) LURVE about wuri pup's sleek , straighter locks.
Who cares about HOT when you can have BOB ?..thinks d iron-rice bowl stylist.Grrrrrrr.~

Okay, I know I'm talking too much. I'll take a break after this. But I have to say that it was very hard muffling my laughter so as not to wake the rest of the house after reading your (Jade Butterfly's) comment.

Everybody sing (to Copacabana)....

Please don't hate me for tell this, today (1 June 2012) seung Gi is holding concert at Nippon Budokan Hall (the time I write this, the concert has began)...
And you guess what?

Airen heard that he rehearse song as this:
1. I'll Give You All (Na Julkoya)
2. Aren't we friends (Chingu Janha)
3. Time for love (jap.ver)
4. SLAVE(!!)-this alone already make me excited since I really-really-want- to see him sing this LIVE!
And just recently, someone tweet she heard 'Kaseumi Unda' (a.k.a Love is Crying) (JAE HA'S THEME In TK2H!!!!)

OK! I'm seriously envy with the concerts attendee now! MBC!!

There's a possibility Seung Gi sings 'Love is Crying', right? Omo, omo.
For you who don't know this, it's the second time K.Will sings an OST for Seung Gi's drama. In 2009, K.Will sang 'The Person Living in MY Heart' for Brilliant Legacy. Seung Gi sang this song in some occasions, including his 2009 Hope Concert.
Reglest, can you imagine if they do a duet together? OMG.

I always felt that ' Love is crying' should have been sung by Seung Gi. It would have made it that much more meaningful since he is Jae Ha. Not that I don't think K. Will didn't do an awesome job at singing it. Oh well. Hopefully someone will release a fan cam of Seung Gi singing his version. It would be daebak!!!!

@reglest
You are sure SG's 'one button is unfastened unintentionally' not deliberate. I think many of us would enjoy a 'more buttons unfastened unintentionally or a wardrobe malfunction and all the females in the concert need CPR and we can smuggle him out of the concert hall. I am not so selfish I can sure him with all the hearties here. lol. Sori, if I shock you but just to crack this as most of us are still suffering without cold turkey withdrawal symptoms.

I can't wait to hear him sing it cos he'll be singing it from 'reel / real ' experience so its gonna sound more poignant . Well , if we miss himthis much , can you imagine HJW's feeling now ? Urghhh she must be going thru some level of cold turkey to unlove 'jaeha'!
So glad we're not in her shoes . Errr , then again , to experience what she went thru with him is also a once in a lifetime situation , huh?...Bitter sweet...

I was trying a link too cos this conspiracy theorist , me , was trying to find if her going away for d promo coincided wt he's more than necessary outpouring of emotions after SK's dying scene. He was pensive for a long time.
Haven't found out d dates yet tho.

Citing from Gtangerine post @soompi forum, thread The king 2 Hears, tips from @purple1n2d in twitter:
:D
The King 2 Hearts Fun Facts and Recent News:

1) PD Lee blamed on himself for making TK2H’s rating drop because he was the one who in charge of ep 1-8′s scene editing. He feels his skills on scene editing has turning backward and he needs to go back to film school to learn it again.
(Heee, don't feel bad PD..)

2) TK2H production company says they will publish special director cut edition TK2H DVDs if there are more than 2000 audiences signed up for purchasing it.
The last I know there are more than 1,800 people have signed up for the DVDs already.
(Has the 2K goal been reached Hearties?! So egggcited for 'tis!)

3) For LSG’s Concert in Japan, people said LSG was going to invite HJW as a special guest, unfortunately she needs to do a magazine photo shoots in Mexico at that time so she can’t make it.
(The Mexico photo shoot is so untimely!!! Arggggh#-o)

4) The Broadcasting Rights of TK2H has been sold to Japan and Hong Kong. Japan will start showing the series in August (Hong Kong unknown the showing time, but HK paid the highest price for the right) so if luckily we could see AhHa couple together again when they promote TK2H in Japan if not sooner.
(Kyaaah! wish they could indeed promote together!!!)

5) On ep 19 AhHa dating/kissing scene was filmed on 22nd May, which is 2 days after LSG mentioned his new ideal type had changed to HJW. So he must be blessed to film the additional kiss scene with his “REAL IDEAL TYPE WOMAN” on set. The funniest part is the dating/kissing scene weren’t on the original script. Upon fans’ strong request (some Korean fans even called the production company for more kissing/bed scenes before ep 19 aired), PD Lee called back AhHa couple and decided to add such scenes to satisfy TK2H fans!
(I just love 'tis trivia!!! Haha! :x :x :x )

6) Princess Jae Shin admits herself being a fan of HJW. She felt hard to breathe when acting with HJW and it’s more nervous than acting with LSG or Jo Jung Sok. She said HJW was really nice with great personality and often asked if she’s eaten and given hugs to her.
(Woaah, princess it wasn't at all evident that you were nervous in acting with your in-law for you were great in acting out your role as well! :-bd)

Thank you for the great info. Good thing I'm still lurking in this site or else I would miss this fun facts. #5 ~ thank you Korean fans for giving pressure to PD Lee, I was hoping that there were more kissing scenes in Ep 20 but I'll take what ever they give me.

#Princess JS ~ with your great acting, you've made me shed buckets of tears and fell in love too with our Shi-Kyung-ah

Hello everyone~! Like many of you I'm totally suffering from withdrawal. None of the current dramas interest me. I keep looking out for something, anything, that could possibly top K2H. Now simply waiting for LSG's version of Love is Crying.

Agree with the post somewhere above about the Ride of the Valkyries. The writer did make an effort to tie every little thing together - from the opera Lohengrin (i.e., "The man leaves and the woman dies") to Valkyries, Bong Gu seems to be a fan of Richard Wagner. Wagner was enjoyed by Hitler, and I think it's no coincidence that adult Bong Gu's opening scene was set in Germany (in episode 2). Bong Gu seemed to be running his own Reich like a little Hitler until JH sent him off to prison.

Same goes to me..I'm trying, but at the end I'm back lurking here. Ngg..about Love is Crying, Seung Gi's version....Because he only sang it in the Budokan concert yesterday, I only can just hope someone kindly record that and upload it

About Germany, Ha! You spot on it too!!
True, there are many things related with Germany in this drama, most of them is Hitler's. Like you said, Ride of Valkryes is Wagner's and Hitler is Wagner's fans.
TK2H is open the stage in 1989, the day berlin wall was destroyed, Bong Gu kill his father in Germany. There are several things that I've found related with Germany too..

About Lohengrin, what is it? I can't get the picture(me and my blunt brain), if you don't mind, would you like to explain this? I'm sure many hearties (or at least ME) will be so glad and happy with the explanation XD
Thanks in advance~

Lohengrin is the opera that Bong Gu was watching when he was told of the leaked "news" that JH was going to marry HA. And then Bong Gu comments of the opera, "the man leaves and the woman dies", which is the ending of Lohengrin. We know it is Lohengrin because of the music accompanying the scene - the iconic bridal chorus, which was written by Wagner for Lohengrin.

O.O Now you tell me this, the scene suddenly reappears. You're right, 'the man leaves and the woman dies' and Bridal Chorus,... Wow... You are great!
Thanks a lot, so the using of 'ride of valkryies' is truly adding Bong Gu's layer (of megalomaniac)
