OK, Vagabond is hilarious. I have no clue what’s happening because I skip over the graphic parts and I lose focus on the political bad guys talking about their evil plans blah blah, but Suzy and her satori-speaking friend and everyone trying to kill Seunggi and SSR being the goody-two-shoes agent (yeah, right) is SOooo entertaining.

Funniest scene of ep. 4 in the comments:

    Hahahaha!

BTW this is interesting PPL for the Hyundai Kona (which is the car I want, but in orange). I think it’s implying the car is safe — you can be in a rollover accident and make it out with only a stiff neck.

Lol I didn’t make it there. Dropped around mid-episode because of the convoluted mess of a story.

Meaning: I watched everything up to there and still don’t have a clue what it’s about 😂

Have to agree, drama’s really entertaining if you just gonna roll with tge plot 😂😂😂

I haven’t watched ep 4 yet but I already want more goody two shoes SSR! Moreee hahaha!

Sung Hoon is in Singapore for a fan meet and greet today. So jealous of you Singaporean beanies! This is my favorite photo from the Singapore photoshoot that started my whole (almost) daily posting obsession adventure.

It\’s time to go to sleep, but I\’m craving carbs. I need Lee Seojin to come and bake me a loaf of bread, please.

So this is already shaping up to be one of *those* weeks where lots of stuff is hitting the fan both at work and at home. Just need to stop, breathe, and remember all the things I can be grateful for. Fighting!

Y\’all probably know that this is how I picture Cold Hot CEO:

And after he encounters @yyishere:

He is captured and tries to make his escape:

but, sadly, is unsuccessful.

Someone please give YY a rooftop room.

Hmmm. Netflix puts in a lot of profanities where none are present in the Korean. Why?

3
16

Tell me about it. I really don’t like how Netflix is turning my Asian dramas westernized……..

    6

Netflix has a tendency to over translate. They’re definitely better than they were but when they have to make a decision between literal translation and what they think would have been in an English version of the script, they opt for the latter (if that makes sense). So in an English version of the script, the person would swear so they make them swear.

The worst I ever saw was a film where a character said, “I’m hurt” and they translated it as “I’m fucking messed up”. Because in an English version of that kind of film, that character would have sworn badly but they weren’t literally swearing in the Korean.

I don’t know how it really is in Korea…but could it possibly be that profanities are not not common in real life but not shown on terrestrial TV? Now that it is on cable, they just go all out since they are not restricted to any rules set by broadcasting stations. Just a thought.

I don’t like profanities in dramas or in real life. Anyways, what drama are you refering too? Hehe

    1
    2

Ahhh…seems like I might have gone off-tangent here. It’s about netflix subs. Huuuuu

Vagabond. I’ve seen Korean movies where there is a lot of profanity (I might not be fluent, but I know all the bad words, lol), but Vagabond has none. It’s on SBS. I don’t mind them translating profanity where it actually is, but *adding* it is just annoying and distracting to me.

      3

Yeah, I think I just saw that in Arthdal. I was like “whoa, chill Netflix! He just asked what was happening.”

I stopped watching shows in English because, among other reasons, they insert swear words in every other sentence. So not only is the dialogue very poor, it’s practically made up of swear words used as fillers.

Ugh. I don’t have Netflix, but yeah, that would make me mad.

    1
    1

I think I have come across this a few times on other places. I remember when I was watching Healer on Viki, there was one scene where they inserted a profanity and then in parentheses it said “loose translation.” I was like “I did not ask for a ‘loose translation’!“

      1
      1

I’ve come across it before occasionally, but it happened like 7 or 8 times in one episode here (ep. 2, I didn’t watch ep. 1).

        1
        1

Sorry just curious here.. u watched ep2 but not 1?

          0
          2

I knew what was going to happen in ep 1 (I read all the spoilers) and I didn’t want to watch it because I’m a scaredy cat, so I just read Dramamilk’s recap to catch me up on the plot.

            0
            0

Ahhh ok. But ep 1 was great, or maybe you can watch the earlier bits if you want to see LSG with bad hair 😂

            1
            0

I wish they didn’t do that also. I personally don’t mind swear words, and even swear myself at times, but I watch a lot of dramas with my mom who is very religious and wont watch things with too much swearing. This will be upsetting for her as Vagabond was her most anticipated drama.

    1
    1

Oh, that’s awful for her then! The Korean version is fine, but Netflix subs will ruin it for her. 😠

out of scope, when I was watching Story of Yanxi Palace (historical C-drama) I was stunned by some lazy translations “you b*tch” used between consorts in the palace
I was like “err I don’t speak Chinese, but that couldn’t happen x)”

I\’m getting drama paralysis again. I just started Camellia, which is great. A lot of the other new dramas I want to watch, I\’m still not caught up on Rookie Historian, I already had 3 dramas and 4 variety shows now in the rotation, and #makjangMondays and YY\’s level-up posts are making it worse. Help!

BTW the kid in Camellia is FANTASTIC. 😢

This guy was a pro athlete, he\’s a DJ, and he does choreographed action scenes just fine. Not sure why he can\’t dance. I can\’t dance either. I\’m a musician, and I did TaeKwonDo a few years back and learned all the moves and forms without any problem, but when it comes to dancing, I can\’t do it at all. What is it that makes someone a good or bad dancer?

(I tried to do that wave while watching the ep, was like Roiii Bang 2 😅)
that dance part is from an old ep, isn’t it ? time flies…

I’m not usually good at sports, I was surprised I could do TaeKwonDo. But I definitely can’t dance!

I am a horrible dancer but I’ve also done very little of it in my life. But one of the things I really wish I had learned and stuck with as a kid is dancing. I may be horrible at it but I love watching people dance and always wished I could do it.

It\’s been a few weeks since I stopped eating junk food, and I\’ve lost about 10 pounds, but that wasn\’t really my goal. I\’m trying to get rid of some excess fat. I might have to resort to exercise. *whimper*

A couple thoughts:

1) Don\’t play games with this guy. He does NOT play nicely.
2) Wouldn\’t it be great if I could sic him on some of the more problematic clients at work…

This gif is basically me and my niece. She\’s the spinning fluff ball, and I\’m the slightly confused one, saying, \”Dude, calm down\” over and over again. We have fun, but I definitely need a nap after she goes home.

Annyeonghaseyo, yeoreobun! It\’s super hot here today. I know I shouldn\’t complain, as it\’s been hotter everywhere else. I\’ll just be grateful for the A/C and leave it at that. 😁

Thought I would answer your previous question here so only you would see it. Basically, my problem is I don’t like to take things with me into the bathroom because that requires touching them with my unwashed hands when I leave the bathroom stall. Normally I go places with people and they can hold my stuff while I go to the bathroom but I knew for the concert I would be going alone. My solution was I bought a mini backpack that I could just keep on my back so I wouldn’t have to touch it.

    1
    1

That’s not weird! I’ve been carrying a sling purse for years for just that reason. Or maybe I’m just weird, too. 😜

      1
      1

I’m glad I’ve found someone like me 😄
It always bugs me so much when I see people come out of the stall and fix their hair or makeup before washing their hands. It’s so nasty. Or even worse, when they come out of a stall and leave without washing their hands at all 😱🥴🤢

        1
        1

That’s terrible in real life, but also people do this all the time in dramas. Or wash their hands with no soap. It makes me crazy!

          1
          1

I totally cringed so hard when I was watching I Want to Hear Your Song and one of the orchestra members came out of a stall and patted Yi Young on the back before washing her hands. If someone did that to me in real life, I would die inside.
