Beanie level: Eunuch in drag

Ep5 – #BeMelodramatic

Kind of forgot how sad this show makes me feel even though it was a fun episode. I feel sad for JaeHoon, HanJoo, and EunJung. I just feel sad for them. *sighs*

I just finished writing a poem for my best friend’s birthday and I’m both nervous and proud of the finished product. My writing style has “changed” since I last wrote. I haven’t written something creative like this for almost 2-3 years and I am a bit rusty but I hope she likes it and feels the sincerity of it 🙂

Aww that is so sweet! I’m sure she will be touched by your words and thoughtfulness 😁

Thank you! I’ll be sending it over tomorrow so I’ll be able to see/hear of her reaction to it soon ^^

Get you a man that will scream his head off in the middle of a busy restaurant to cover your ridiculously loud burp

I’m loving this cutie <3

These two are insane but they work so well together.

At first I thought that she was imagining herself playing the guitar and singing that song, but she was ACTUALLY playing it. 🤣🤣

From last week’s episodes, I thought Beom-Soo was the only crazy one but this week’s episodes made me realise he isn’t the only one haha!

Be Melodramatic is so great. Honestly haven\’t felt so much love for a drama this year, excluding TSLOMS in which it was my guilty pleasure for all the sweetness UwU.

I just love all the characters, large and small, yes, even the annoying actress ex-friend. The way the characters all have their flaws and quirks that we can all relate to one way or another. I love it. The 3 girls’ (+ 2 boys’) living situation is just so heartwarming to see and doesn’t feel odd because of how much they seem like a family and because they become each others’ family. I’m most looking forward to see more interactions between these roomies. (Albeit we saw a glimpse of it in episode 3 but can’t a girl ask for more?)

I fell in love with Be Melodramatic. It\’s giving me BITIMFL vibes but with a slightly more darker undertone and a more bitter aftertaste that leaves you wanting more. Like dark chocolate. I love the trio\’s stories and what they have to tell. Their stories are \”melodramatic\” but has a realistic touch to them that it seems plausible for such things to happen in real life. I really love this premiere week so far and love how the writer is writing each character.

But then again, it\’s only the first week so it\’s best to tread lightly.

I finally caught up to HDL and ep9 had me feeling so shaken! I thought Yeon Woo’s story would end in the past but hello~ and he’s a cop??? So does it mean Chan Sung is Captain??? This will surely shake up some dynamics as much as it already shaken me

Contrary. Because princess and YeonWoo return as their own faces, Chan Sung isn’t anyone’s reincarnation.

I’m now waiting for the Captain to make an appearance.

Honestly I don’t want them to spend so much time on his story. I only look forward to his effect on Man Wol when he appears. If you’ve seen Ep10 you’ll understand why, since Man Wol said herself what is expected of her when he comes.

My best friend just recently (recently=a couple of hours ago) got into The Heirs and is making me watch it with her but why do I feel cringed out?? I love cheesy and “cringy” stuff but this line…

Hi Beanies! Last month had been tough with a ton of personal and external issues popping up left and right. I finally had a bit of time to pop by and say “hello!” ^^

How has everyone been doing? Are the new dramas treating everyone right? Hope everyone is doing great!

By the way, please enjoy this picture I took of the sky a couple of days ago.. It reminded me of HDL because of the colours (and the moon, of course 😉 )

Man-Wol makes me laugh because of the way she thinks XD (2) : eating sashimi because it should be eaten after looking at Mount Baekdu because they come as a “set”

I can see now that IU has grown so much as an actress! I remember not really liking how she acted out some of her characters in her previous dramas because they felt so green but after My Ahjusshi, she really found her footing ^^

SideNote: I’m absolutely in love with this scene. The way she walked in and the way she saunters out is just perfection. That purple dress is my favourite on her so far and I’m so glad they let her wear that colour because she looks extra beautiful in it (and also ’cause IU loves purple)

I still don’t know what Hotel Del Luna is about 😄, but I enjoyed watching IU and YJG.

It was fun, but yeah, I’m not clear on the plot. Maybe tonight’s episode will clarify.

Love Affairs in the Afternoon. I absolutely loath infidelity but this show is helping me understand why some people do it. Do I still condone cheating? Nope. Were the first two episodes done well? Absolutely.

The writers and actors managed to make me hate a character and feel the loneliness of another in just the premiering week, making me root for the extramarital affair for the FL to feel loved and appreciated. I also think it’s interesting that FL’s husband is obsessed with birds and her future side-dude (I don’t know what’s a male version of a mistress/side-chick. Sorry^^”) is interested in plants/flowers. Her husband’s birds symbolising her want for freedom but she’s trapped in this marriage. Yet, future side-dude’s flower/plant symbolising how her relationship with this man will be slow and deep.

Side Note: I just hate the way her husband keeps calling her “Mom”. It’s pretty imminent that he’s a mama’s boy but my goodness, I really want to slap him every time I hear “Omma” come out from his mouth. Not only does he not pay attention to his own wife but he’s like a spoiled boy asking favours from his mother.

6

    Agree with you.
I don’t know if I remember well, but I think I read somewhere that in Korea parents start to call each other “Omma” and “Appa” when they have children. So, the fact that he keeps calling her “Omma” is cruel, too, since he has no intention to have a child.
I’m glad someone else is watching it, I felt lonely 😀

I was going to skip this drama, to be honest. This topic isn’t something I’m usually interested in and it shouldn’t be taken lightly but I’m loving this writer and actors so far. 🙂

The only reason I’m not watching it, is that I absolutely loved the Japanese original and I’m worried that they’re going to change it…

UPDATE on my part time job situation:
I managed to haggle my way into getting my hours back for this week but it\’s a bit hazy about what will happen in the future…
I managed to gather up confidence to ask my manager about this whole situation but she told me it’s out of her hands since she was just following the orders of the higher ups. And she’s going to be transferred to a different branch next week so I’m not sure if the new manager will give me less hours. :/

I really want to look for another part time job but I’m stuck in this current one with odd hours that won’t allow it (unless I want to skip on sleep). I guess I’ll have to look for another soon..

Hi Beanies. I usually don\’t like to voice my irl frustrations online because there’s way too much negativity in online and I like to be more positive but I just needed a place to get this off my chest.

As some of you may remember, I just landed a job recently. To be more specific, it was a part time job for the summer before my classes begin again in September. This job was supposed to be a financial help for my family because my parents have to pay for not only my education but also my brothers.
Now, this job I am at is starting to cut a lot of my hours. So much so that I went from working 5-6 days a week to only 2-3 days which means I will be paid less and I won’t be able to reach my goal in time. This is quite frustrating to me because this isn’t the first time this has happened at my part time jobs. At first I thought that maybe I was incompetent at my job and that maybe this is their way of forcing me to quit. However, I know for a fact that I am such an indispensable person in their team because I’m not only hard working but I’m also adaptable and a quick learner so I can easily be put in to a different position and manage.
Then, I thought that maybe it’s because they had to cut labour costs and that they couldn’t afford paying me. But, if they can’t afford to pay a part timer, why are they hiring?

I am just frustrated.

PS. I already applied for a loan for the upcoming school year but I still have to pay the initial fees first since I don’t know when it’ll get approved.

Sorry to hear this. Are there any other part-time jobs you could look for, to fill up the spare time? 🙁

    1
    1

I’m trying to look into finding one but I’m worried that I can’t make the amount I need because people take quite a while to respond back 🙁 praying that I do find one that pays well and helps me fill up the remaining days of nothing

      3
      1

Do you feel comfortable enough to be able to outright ask them why your hours have been cut? It’s amazing what asking things outright can do – sometimes it’s literally just because they overlooked something and it’s an accident or a mistake. But only ask if you’re comfortable doing it. Do you think that if you left or got a second part-time job that would cause them to up your hours in order to keep you on? Do any of your coworkers have the same problem, or are you the only part-timer?

Best of luck, I hope things work out for you.

There’s another part timer who’s been working there for 3 years and she’s also getting her hours cut but not as much as me. I’m planning to try to talk to them about it but if it doesn’t go well, I’ll have to look for a second part time job.

This is also happening to someone I know. Summer is the slow season but they don’t want to let people go because they’ll need trained people for when business picks back up. So they cut hours to keep them. It’s a terrible business model, especially for the employees, but also for the employers because now the employees are mad and will go to a new job as soon as the opportunity arises., and the employers are stuck training new people again in the busy season.

Have my tastes changed or has the quality of dramas lowered?
I really REALLY need a show that has an interesting plot AND is done right. I haven’t been super invested in any dramas this year, dropped so many and only barely managed to finish TSLOMS.
Hoping the second half delivers quality, be it in the writing, the production, or both.

Is this you? 😜 How adorable!

    3
    1

Yeah, you’re not alone in this terrifying thought? Like this is the firat year that I have not finished a show I really liked. I’ve never dropped so many and become disinterested to the point of looking more towards chinese dramas. 😱
Even though most of them start off great then lose steam. But I can’t say I have one favorite kdrama for this year and it’s already July?! I usually have at least one!!! But nothing has really stuck out to me. Hopefully it doesn’t stay like this for long.

    1
    2

Not to mention that the actual shows I wanted to watch this year are either not available or not recapped. 😭😡

Hi Beanies! I hope June had been kind to you all ^^ I celebrated my birthday 2 days ago with the most gorgeous sky I’ve seen all week, and some chocolate cake (although I prefer mango ^^”) May your July be filled with skies that are beautiful to look at, love all around you and happiness in your hearts <3

Sometimes, I catch myself acting like a Candy and it just catches me off guard a bit. I thought I was a strong and independent woman who takes control of her situation but here I am just letting things come and sway me. At least I don’t have a chaebol mother-in-law trying to destroy a nonexistent relationship?

3
1

I think I am way more a candy than all those hauty female leads who know their s***. But candies are all good when they work many jobs and are emotional not when they are carried by a chaebol heir. So being a candy ain’t bad. They all start good and independent, it’s the chaebol that messes things up.
