    Bam Bam blinked.

The wedding of Lee Min Ki and @mindy was supposed to be a fun, carefree evening, laughing with Beanies, everyone enjoying the cinnamon rolls she had made for the reception.

But everything had gone wrong from the moment she had woken up that morning. She was simply a Very Very Nice Female Lead Who Had Never Hurt a Fly in Her Life, it wasn’t her fault she was poor and had to work multiple jobs that left her with little time to sleep in her simple rooftop room.

At least she had expensive clothes to wear, though that was a mystery to Bam Bam as well as her friends. She could swear that, however small her bag was, an assortment of fashionable fabric always appeared whenever she needed.

Her disapproving mother in law didn’t help anything of course. Oh no, Bam Bam had never been married. Oh, there had been at least Two Chaebols who had mooned after her and cried into her bread over their Tragic Backgrounds.

Somehow they never lasted, usually disappearing after a few weeks. Her disapproving mother in law came from the man she had found herself engaged to last week, without her knowledge, due to the sudden appearance of her long lost wealthy mother. It had been a long week.

Anyways, back to the wedding at hand. Bam Bam had arrived at @mindy ‘s wedding with minutes to spare, after rushing through baking and showering and politely excusing herself from talking to the chatty man in the basement apartment. He was nice enough, and definitely easy on the eyes, or so her unabashed friend Coco would say.

But something about him left Bam Bam curtailing their conversation. She had a wedding to get to after all.

As she walked in the door, a Polish delivery man on a motorcycle filled with kitchen appliance ads (I know, weird in a kdrama space 😉 ) suddenly zoomed past, nearly toppling the man getting out of a car a few feet away.

He spun like a top, and Bam Bam abandoned her cinnamon rolls in her rush to help him. The clatter of the dish on the ground seemed to pull him back into his senses, but Bam Bam tripped over her formal skirt, her head hitting him squarely in the chest.

As Bam Bam rubbed her aching head, she looked up at the Dude in front of her, and suddenly, time stood still. Vaguely, she heard “Almost Paradise” in the background.

It was the Dude, her Dude, the one she had met at the library, and made cookies with, and exchanged presents with, and, oh, a thousand little memories from so long ago that all came rushing back as though it had only been yesterday.

Smiling, the Dude helped steady Bam Bam, and then, with a sudden realization, they both rushed to save the cinnamon rolls, realizing in the process that “Almost Paradise” was coming from inside the wedding venue. @kimbapnoona was going to kill Coco for getting a hold of the playlist.

The rest of the day was awful. Not because of the wedding itself, no, Mindy and Lee Min Ki were radiant in a ceremony that it is better left to @kimbapnoona to describe.

No, it was awful because of the Beanies giving her significant looks as she awkwardly danced with the Dude due to Coco’s manipulations,

meeting her idol Jin only for him to fall at first sight for @fatcat007 ,

and, finally, @greenfields and @neener contriving to send her home in the Dude’s car. It was almost as though someone had written it to be so…

As they approached her apartment, Bam Bam was jittery. What was she to do? She had never been in this situation before.

She was the golden maknae of the Beanies, the naive youngster who looked to her unnis for guidance.

Luckily, @rukia texted her just then, advising her to invite him in for ramyun, and to make sure to use the lid for his bowl.

Alas, they never got to have ramyun that night.

As Bam Bam hurried ahead of the Dude into her apartment, to clear any mess that might meet them,

    the Dude was attacked.

It was a man in a black baseball cap and hoodie, yet Bam Bam could still recognize him as her basement dwelling neighbor. Frozen, Bam Bam could only watch as he fought her Dude, who valiantly defended himself.

But he was no match for what Bam Bam now recognized as a trained killer, and as he fell beneath the blurred out knife, her scream left her throat without a sound.

Suddenly she felt herself in a space between time, an area she would never be able to describe again later. Suddenly a voice spoke to her, a voice that, somehow, was many people at once. She heard the voices of the two Chaebols. She heard the voice of her would be mother in law. The voice of the Dude joined their cries and her heart felt like it would break in two. Many other unknown voices also shouted, and she felt the weight of their grief, and anger.

As the voices cried out, the broken noise took form. It asked if she would avenge them, if she would make right the wrongs of the years, the deeds of darkness done by an evil heart.

Bam Bam, her gentle heart wrung, agreed to help without another thought.

With a suddenness that startled her, she realized she was back in high school, at her local library. For the first time the quiet dust of the books unsettled her as the clock ticked on the wall of the volunteer room. She was ten years in the past.

Now, I could go on and tell the story of twenty something Bam Bam chasing down a budding serial killer in a teenage body, but this story is already too long.

Suffice it to say, Bam Bam defeated her library stalker before he started to kill for her, and discovered her chaebol birth mom early enough to help pay for college AND her expensive clothes, no need for a stalker as a secret shopper.

This time, as she arrived for @mindy ‘s wedding, no delivery man appeared on his motorcycle to push her into the Dude’s arms. Instead, @fatcat007 appeared with Jin on the back of her motorcycle, the combined fabulousness of the two flattening Bam Bam and her Dude together.

This time, no serial killer interrupted the ramyun scene, where the Dude confessed that he had never forgotten Bam Bam through all this time.

They started off as friends again, but twenty two months after their first official date, the two were married beneath the cherry blossoms.

    And the Beanies rejoiced.
