Unfortunate and unpopular opinion: I ffwd’d thru most of ep.15&16 of CLOY, except for the North Korea scenes (Dan’s mom is AWESOME!!) and the Ducklings.

I wish I could have loved this show as much as everyone else on DB did (I love being in sync with the general population on here), but… I blame my disinterest on the incessant goodbyes/near-deaths and the Emotional Tax the Writers put on each and every one of them. They really took a toll on me, and after the 1st few, I simply lost the connection with an otherwise cute (albeit overly-chaste) couple. * sigh *

I really only finished this show for the year end Beanie count. Ha!

    I gave up for just the reasons you stated.

    Still stuck on ep 12… I’ve figured that now that I’ve spoiled myself, I might as well wait until it’s available in my Netflix region and at least watch it in HD (I suspect that watching it pixelated on a dodgy site might also explain my loss of interest… one of the things this drama has is its beautiful cinematography)

      I must agree, the scenery is stunning, especially in Switzerland

      while I absolutely gobbled ep12 with a big spoon, I loved it so much — the episodes that followed were painful and I spent a lot of time playing a game of DOTS on my phone while half-watching. Then I fastforwarded through ep.15 and 16 like a savage.

    Totally agree on the Emotional Tax point!

    Dan’s mum was the best part of the show.
    In the last episode she was THE BEST.
    Ducklings were fantastic too, as well as hens.
    And as much as I liked the OTP, my heart was with SeungJoo and Dan.
    Now, you can imagine how my heart is.
    I also FF a lot, specially the last episode (mainly because I was waiting for the Spanish subs, they didn’t arrive, I began to read comments on the Beanie Fan Wall, I didn’t want to be spoiled, so I went with English subs, and by that time it was 10 pm, and on Monday I had to wake up really early).

      I feel for your poor heart. Seung Joo and Dan were, indeed, a lot more interesting to watch than our main almost-platonic OTP.

    I don’t think it’s an unpopular opinion. I think the first half was solid. Yes, cheesy but solid.

    The second half when they moved to Seoul was excruciatingly boring and over the top cheesy. In the end I only cared for Dan, her mom (The actress is truly gifted) and the Ducklings.

      The way the Fanwall is gushing about the ending and after reading an article claiming the Show had surpassed Goblin in viewership and/or adoring fans, I truly felt like this was an unpopular opinion. oh well, glad to have companion in the not-impressed seats with me!

    Many of us felt the same way.. After enduring (yes, thats the word) the last 2 epsiodes @13infamyss pointed out that CLOY was in last years bean count!!! not this years..

    The show started off great – It was wacky, a great set up, had fantastic humor, amazing secondary characters and saw some good emotional connect between the leads. I was rooting for them.
    And then it ran out of content. We had extended teary farewells, multiple fake deaths, even the villian didnt die, no progress with OTP relationship etc. And whats worse the episodes were brutally long. Towards the end I didn’t care of the OTP got together or not. I was exhausted.
    And then they had to do this to Gu and Dan. bad writers. bad.

      brutally long is indeed a good way to describe the episode length. like, whyyyyyyyyyyy?!?!?!?!?!

    I also finished it for the sake of that 1 bean, and because I have no other k-drama I watched at the moment. Also, I do think the super long duration for each eps didn’t help make the story any more interesting.

    2

    I think i love this show for the same reasons everyone kinda hate it. Like how i cheer when i saw the duration of the last episode is almost 2 hours 😂. But i can see why it could be off-putting for others. I guess that’s just the beauty of drama watching and thank goodness we have many other options that caters to each and everyone’s taste.

    erghhh I can’t believe i avoided the fanwall for 4 days only to find there was nothing to spoil except for the unfortunate demise of Seung Joo. Beautiful as it was, ep 15-16 was really boring (other than ducklings/mum+uncle/ahjummas like everyone agrees). CLOY really could have done it all in 12 episodes. And i’m glad i’m not the only one who feels the same way as the unpopular opinion..sobs..

    One more thing, I kept thinking of Vagabond while watching the finale..esp the scenes w NIS..obviously there had to be some suspension of disbelief while watching CLOY but it really was getting too much in 15/16.

    Same reason I haven’t watched it since ep10! Though I will most definately finish it sometime all for the bean!!

CLOY: Dan’s mom is honestly the best “almost mother-in-law” ever. I love how protective she is of her daughter. 💖💕❤️🤗

    Best character of the whole drama. I love her so much. She is a real mum, who cares for her daughter and nothing more. She tells Dan: we can cry and mourn together, and then to HJ’s mum, the she has to cancel the engagement because her daughter loves another man. I cried rivers in that scene. She was only thinking about Dan. Oh, she was just amazing.

      riiight?!?! I love it! Can’t wait to see how cold that payback will be on that snooty insecure Geun-Won and his overly authoritative & abusive daddy CEO Jang!

      Side note: actor Yoo Jae Mung is amazing. morphing so completely into CEO Jang’s character and to be sooo unlikeable and yet so enigmatic… * applauds * I mean, he was the affable dad in Strong Woman Do Bong-Soon! He was our favourite martyr doctor in LIFE !! and now: heinous business man. bravo!

Episode 12 of CLOY was the funniest of the entire show.
Brilliant use of the fish-out-of-water trope. I had a really good laugh!

Joining my Beanies on this
Day 4, Love, February

I would wear make-up for you;
You\’d say it\’s a mask and take it off.
I\’d dress up, doll up, to the nines for you;
You\’d say it was just an armor,
Gently fold it away and touch my naked skin.
.

I\’d dance for you,
Twirl and twerk, hip & hop;
A soft caress of yours would calm the hype,
And we\’d be back to being spoons,
Quietly laying on my couch.
.

To you, my flaws are but trivial;
\”Oh that?\” you\’d say with an eyeroll,
And kiss my lips, lift your shirt
And we\’d laugh at how perfectly
Imperfect we both are in our awesomeness.
.

Anger, sadness are passing moments with you;
Love love laughter and love
Are the k constant
To the physics equation that makes
Our chemistry explosive.
.

With you, I admit I\’m wrong,
Albeit reluctantly but
It\’d always feel good and right;
To give in,
Just to be given so much more.
.

With you…

Love, February

    Why thank you, @kethysk. It’s been a while. <3 <3 <3

    I'll let you in on a little secret: The danged thing is drafty in the winter. And you wouldn't believe the static cling that builds up when the humidity is low. My frizz looks like I stuck my finger in a light socket. I regularly get zapped. Then, in the summer heat, the sequins adhere to my fundament — and they crunch whenever I sit down. A real PITA.

    I'd better get cracking and resume posting voluminously so I can shuck off my Sparkly Tracksuit Of Unemployed Slackerdom and bequeath it to a deserving maknae. I’m hoping to inherit one of @lollypip‘s snazzy gently-used Contract Girlfriend ensembles — since she has moved up to CEO’s Overworked Secretary. I wonder when that happened?! 😉

    Cheers, and a belated Happy Lunar New Year! 😉

Crash Landing On You, ep6.
While this show has indeed rekindled my fondness for Hyun Bin😍, it has also helped confirm one thing: action scenes are truly NOT (or no longer??) his forte. The suspense of disbelief was reeeeally hard to muster during those scenes because ooh they were lame. 😅😅

I started Stove League yesterday and literally gobbled up 5 episodes in a single seating!
I looooved it! I can’t wait to catch up!

(Why isn’t this getting recapped…? *tears*)

I really like our Main Trio, especially Namgung Min as General Manager Baek. So smooth! So confident! So mysterious! I can see the shadow of the titular character Chief Kim in his smile and some of his mannerism and I love him even more !!!

Operations Manager Lee is great too. She’s a devoted fan and devoted employee, and you can tell that she’s passionate with the way she runs to him for “explanations” on his decisions. I quite like the way he quietly/firmly/rightfully put her in her place. Her reaction was gold, in this era of entitled Leading ladies: she understood and let it go. No ranting and raving and drinking in some little shack bar, telling the world that her new inexperienced boss is arrogant and doesn’t know how much she loves her team. Nope! None of that immaturity. GM Baek later proved himself, and I can see how she trusts him more and more as they spend time working together. The same goes for GM Baek: I find that he’s slowly opening up to her – and Junior Han – about his decision process. It would be awesome if the Writers did NOT add a loveline between GM Baek and OM Lee. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Overall, I like that there isn’t really a Bad Guy of the day, but rather, it’s Hurdle of the Day and how they navigate through, in and around them. The supporting cast is experienced, and they make for a great overall ensemble.

It didn’t even matter how unknowledgeable I am about most things baseball. I was so into the show yesterday that I talked to the Husband about it, asking why it is that a Korean team seemed to need a foreign player. Husband knows nothing about baseball, but said that in basketball (he’s a big fan), it’s to add Star Power to the team and draw viewership, marketing dollars, etc. I feel somewhat more informed now, as I proceed with ep 6 later today.

Happy Watching, dear Beanies !

This is how awesome and powerful the Beanie FanWall is:
I had given up on 2 shows and was almost categoric on never giving them another chance. My fellow Beanies hyped them up so much and so well that I reluctantly went back and gave them both a try during the Christmas break. And for that, I say:
THANK YOU, MY DEAR BEANIES ❤️❤️

I have very much enjoyed the belated watch of:
The Secret Life of my secretary and
When the Camellia blooms

    Both favorites of mine from last year! I was late finishing Camellia too. But it was so worth it!

That was the most realistic, heart wrenching, the-show-is-almost-over break up I have ever seen. My sad face was at its ugliest as I held back tears.
