Beanie level: The Goblin’s underpants

oh my god……. QoT plot drive is just so….. dumb and incoherent like literally they wouldn’t survive without those actors… like even down to Kwak Dongyeon and Lee Joobin… effin mess……

7
10

like idk LISTEN to those dialogues and remove Kim Jiwon and Kim Soohyun from that…. it’s literally idk…. daily drama???????? like take a stepback and observe all the decision-driving narrative without the aesthetically pleasing cinematography………. it’s so stupid that i almost feel offended.

Like i need someone to analyze why makjang plot points does work in some drama and why does it feel like the dumbest thing for another???

tho i dipped my foot too deep now and i just can’t seem to stop watching both Kim Soohyun and Kim Jiwon crying

    5
    2

ALSO! I FINISHED WELCOME TO SAMDALRI (like finally) SHIN HYESUN THE ACTRESS THAT YOU ARE!!!

11

Decided to suck it up and continue QoT and I still have a lot of problem with its story and pace BUT I guess when you put two capable people, some moments really worth watching regardless of the rest

8
1

That’s literally how it felt with Jeon Jongseo in Wedding Impossible except the story is much worse and the actor can’t reciprocate the same way but with QoT, I couldn’t care less about anything else (well maybe Soocheol and his doomed marriage and Secretary Na precious interactions) but Haein and Hyunwoo.

*Ps. Decided to just pretend his whole reaction to her death thing never happened
*Pps. The hype around Kim Jiwon’s acting? I GET that

ANYWAYSSS here’s my best dramas from last yearrr

Daily Dose of Sunshine getting best drama and script nomination at baeksang but no Park Boyoung is insane bcs of how integral she is to the drama. Like the drama IS her. So happy but kinda sad too….

5

Though Lee Edam getting best new actress nom is exciting even when that’s either going to Go Yunjung or someone else that’s really unexpected. Regardless, DEULRE SSAEM LET’S GOOOOOO

If my effort to screenshot this and sfuff didn’t already tell you, he’s doing such amazing job doing this romance thing and why didn’t we see more of him omg

      1

Thank you for your hard work. My comment was just a nudge to make you *fangirl* some more. 😂 On a cursory glance it looked like a baby Song Joong-ki. Obviously on enlarging the picture it was clearer. Then I read your comment.

Jeon Jongseo you deserve a real romcom that make sense and a lead that\’s capable to par with you. See you on your next one!!!!

5
1

*ps. This is not a jab to Moon Sangmin I just think he moved too fast and having Jeon Jongseo as his lead doesn’t help bcs she’s too good. Like ngl whenever she’s on screen it feels like I’m watching smth like Our Beloved Summer then whenever it’s not it turns into idk weekend drama or smth

The tension between me and the urge ro watch QoT bcs of the angst in the clip in my twitter timeline but I really couldn\’t stand KSH\’s character…… goodness

4
4

If it might help you click play, then I would say he is relearning his love for Hae In. You can directly watch Ep 7 ending to see the point in time where he realizes it, but without watching the whole of ep 7, just the ending wouldn’t be rewarding.

    1
    1

Warning: Ep 7 opening which leads upto a good 10/15 minutes might be making you hate him more.

      1
      1

I started to forgave him after watching these two last episodes. I read somewhere that he is into his masochist phase (the actor has had similar behaving characters in his past dramas) and he plays that so well. He is embracing his self punishment. I hope you will give it a try.

    1
    0

Yeah… I\’m dropping queen of tears… Hyunwoo is just not it

4
24

I dropped it in the middle of ep 5…characters were meh..especially cheobol drama was boring felt like they added it to fill up the 16 episodes..too many 1D villains and plot seems pretty average

    4
    2

Seeing so many friends praising it, I’m about to start it 😳. QoT recaps are the most commented recaps at the moment on DB.

      4
      4

The show has its redeeming qualities. I got really invested on ep4.

        3
        0

It’s wasn’t for me..I also think it’s this popular because of the cast rather than the plot or script.. It’s not bad I just didn’t find to be worth of this praise..just my opinion though

        4
        0

@claire2009 – Same. But it’s not pulling me much. I loved the FL is Fight My Way and Heirs, so I am definitely interested. I like Kim So Hyun enough, he is a great actor. But the story is not making sense to me (at least from the recaps). And I know for a fact @Unit‘s recaps are some of the most fun ones I have ever read, she elevates even the most lacklustre shows (Queen of Divorce takes the cake here lol!)
Having lost a few close people to cancer, I am very reluctant to start a show that makes light of it and uses it as a plot point. Not that I want to see chemo horror and shaved heads, and I know it’s a kdrama, still a bit of realism might have been nice.

        3
        2

I liked her in fight for my way too.. I feel like they’re making characters behave in a certain way just to move the plot they want without making much sense while destroying the characters..jokes are not funny at all when you make it on a dying person.

          4
          0

To me, Park Ji-eun’s dramas are very entertaining but do not leave me a lingering feeling after I finish them. Her characters do not stay with me for long, because they are not relatable. But I do need to watch something like that every once in a while to be entertained enough but not too emotionally attached, that’s why I’ll start QoT someday.

          1
          7

I took the plunge. I will report back. I just now dragged my husband and hopefully he will like it so I have another relive of our last month shenanigans of watching a series together lol! Halfway through the second episode.

            You’ll may like it..it isn’t bad..just wasn’t for me.

LoL I’m still trying to get used to this site..feel like I’m in a sea and floating everywhere 😅

@skiee It takes a bit but it’s so addictive that you will soon figure most stuff out. I am still finding my footing.

            Finished episode 2.

I want to be fair and give it 4 like all others. The first two are definitely not the best. The whole extended family is giving me a huge headache.

I watched until episode 5..that’ll i can try for a kdrama..I couldn’t connect with any of the characters. But it’s depends on a person’s taste..as I said it’s not bad just not for me

            2
            0

I think her drama works when they have interesting settings/background or super super strong leads chemistry (alien stuff, north Korean soldier stuff, BinJin, etc) but once you didn’t find those you just couldn’t figure out why you’re watching the drama in the first place lmao

            3
            0

I love it, I think it’s really interesting and of course the acting is great.

        6
        0

ugh the 1D villain so true and the characters isn’t helping. I think the writer was stuck on her repetitive plot and couldn’t find a nice story setting that would support that

      1
      0

    What episode are you on?

    2
    1

currently at 5, the miscarriage thing just made me want to stop more than ever and street saying it’s the beginning of the end for their marriage and its because he couldn’t see her grieving like, I just feel like a nope

      2
      2

Yeah CLOY was good because of the soldier stuff but it also lagged for me when he went to her, from there I lost interest in their story and watched for second leads

QOT also felt like a average marriage miscommunication story just placed in a luxurious budget..miscarriage was the final trope that made it more average to me..they showed so many side characters and have a great amount of screen time for them but none of them were interesting.

        1
        1

Yes, the magic of CLOY is the North Korean village life and the soldier stuff. I enjoyed the first half much more than the second half. Could the second half have been more appealing had Hyun Bin been able to emote better? Because when I don’t really care about other stuff like a murder on the run or siblings fighting for inheritance, at least I want to enjoy some well-done romance.

          1
          1

I think so, romance is my preference in every genre, even when i watch thrillers 😂 and I feel like non romantics shows has the best romance..I personally love when actors can show emotions in eyes..

            1
            0

Perfectly understandable. HW is not yet in my good graces either. I am more lenient with HI because I understand her more.

        1
        1

Tbh if there’s one thing that kept me watching it was haein and their their angsty scenes without context, but when you put context in, moreover with how weird they’re writing hyunwoo’s character i took a step back and think… Um no lol such a shame though because those angsty scenes alone between KSH and KJW were enough ugh

          1
          1

Kim Ji Won is the best thing about this show. I like her poor rich girl portrayals. I also liked her Rachel in The Heirs. Sadly she wasnt the FL in that show.

            0
            0

gonna say smth don’t be mad. I find it HARD to warm up to Kim Soohyun’s character while he giddily celebrate his WIFE’s actual life expectation, like idk that doesn’t feel like a good joke to me

6
13

Agree, he isn’t exactly a saint, but a lot of people feel pity for his character because the FL is cold and detached 🙄🙄

    3
    1

I mean the first episode def set her up like that but you do get a glimpse of how that’s a facade, but him in a way rooting for her death like actual death even after confirming it to the doctor??? Pfttt

Exactly. Almost like a boomer humour (“I hate my wife” followed by howls of laughter 🙄) to me. At first I thought the terminal illness was a fake out (so the comedic bgm was justified). But no, it wasn’t & it has been disturbing me since.

    4
    1

Definitely!! I thought it was a fake out too, maybe he also thought that but then he got confirmation from the doctor yet still dance around the idea of waiting for her death like wtf???? Is that humor to you writer??

      4
      0

It’s funny in that he is absolutely pathetic and a shitty person but I am honestly not sure where the drama is going with it all yet or whether we are supposed to see him as the villain or not (because right now he is totally the villain lol).

    4
    1

I doubt he’ll be going down the villain path because it’s a romcom, but the fact that the thing that moves his ass was his wife’s ex-bf instead of helloooo??? an actual ilness???? might make him my personal romcom villain instead

      4
      0

This is my biggest problem. Even a stranger would have more empathy for a dying person.
I wish I had seen even a glimpse of compassion from him before he eventually tried to back off on divorce to avoid trouble. This whole thing could have been written differently.

    3
    2

One genuine shred of emotion would have been nice and we all know he has the acting chops for it. This is somehow even worse than toilet humor.

      1
      0

You don’t have to love one person to feel compassion for them. I can hate someone with all my heart but will still feel pity for them if I closely observe what odreal they are going through. Hae In suffers equally in the toxic family environment ( Just because she puts on a cold facade doesn’t mean she isn’t hurting) yet observing it closely he doesn’t feel a bit of sympathy for her makes me wonder how severe his ‘hate’ is & how the writers are planning to make a 180 degree turn from this.

Has been following each Jang Dongyoon’s project from school 17 probably only missed one or two and could definitely say yes this one’s def my favorite (apart from just dance tbh). Him and Lee Joomyung are so goooooodd.

I have been a JDY fan since seeing his performance in JTBC’s SOLOMON’S PERJURY (2016/17) at which point he had already completed his military service and was an Army veteran.

Gonna drop smth controversial and say My Demon shouldve had 12 eps and actually drop the com from the romcom and just go fantasy romance. Did you see their angsty scenes??? I wanna see more of THAT

8
2

There is definitely some magic in Joseon. Even the Destined With You version 1.0 Joseon OTP ith all their angst was better than the 2.0.

    0

Seconded, actually. I think it would have benefited from the tighter plot line and I like it best when it’s not trying so hard to be funny.

Tell Me that You Love me finale recaps opens with \”With an ending this brave…\” someone tell me simple a yes or no answer, is it a happy ending or not so that I know if I should watch it now or later

2
9

I think (based on weecaps and comments because the show isn’t available to me) that it’s a bit open to interpretation. There is lots of growth, but the ending is a bit ambiguous with some beanies interpreting it one way and some another. Sorry that this isn’t the simple answer you were looking for. Based on it, I’ve decided not to watch if/when the show becomes available, so I understand your hesitation.

    6
    0

I took it as a positive ending. As it is open to interpretation only you can decide if you want to risk finding your interpretation leans to the negative. It went old style in terms of dragging out the main couple interaction right until the last ten minutes and then some with the credits rolling.

    3
    0

Clarification: by happy do you mean does the OTP work out? And do you really want to know?

I wanted to know, so I peeked because I have problems like that

    4
    0

It’s neither. And that’s the exact problem. It is open to interpretation somewhat but in terms of genuine development and narrative resolution, true development and resolution, it never commits to an denied both a bittersweet ending and a happy ending, leaving any interpretation feeling false and lacking.

    4
    2

is there such a reverse romcom request, bcs usually it’s sageuk couple wanted for light happy romcom but now I want several more episode of that angst sageuk section of my demon omg

4
2

Sageuks are generally pretty angsty, I think … I hardly dare check because even with the OTP ending up alive and together, most of their dear one’s have often been killed along the way, and especially the FL has been through so much that she is not the happy girl from episode 1, but a woman who is at one time hardened and fragile.
I mean, even with me generally going for comedy and happy ends, I recommend Moon Embracing The Sun, My Prince for A 100 Days, and The King’s Affection. I believe The Empress Ki and Seven Days Queen are even angstier, but I don’t know because I dared not check it out.
    You’re welcome.

    2

The Red Sleeve is pretty dang angsty.

I love this show so much, it’d be 2023 highlight of romance for me, and I’m forever grateful for @vienibenmio for recommending this one to me.
This year there’s been no romance that clicks with me until this one. How the two of them convey their feeling, and how the scripts allow them to act like mature civilised adults post break-up…, my heart just fluttered seeing them on screen.

    3

Kinda need them in a proper drama together- I’m so serious. Dare to say they were the heart of My Unfamiliar Family for me in terms of couples. Like no murder, no affair just angst with them GIVE ME!!

11
7

My unfamiliar family is so good! All the characters in that drama were interesting.
And that couple deserved to be happy.

    3
    1

I’m so happy with how they story ended tbh, her visiting him in the countryside finally making peace with everything yet they still talk like they’re family I’m gonna cry againnnn

      0
      0

Exactly, my heart ached for them….hoping them to reunite in another universe (drama).

    2
    1

Yeeess they were so good with the angst….. Highly unlikely we’re ever gonna get a good mid aged couple and both of them as leads but if that ever happens I’ll be on that first row seat

      0
      0

I would blindly watch a drama they both are in!!! MUF was such a good drama, so good. Although the spin off I would love to watch from that drama would be Eun Joo and Min Woo’s love story!!

    3
    2

Eunjoo and Minwoo was sooooooo cute, like I’m so happy that instead of making him look like a replacement love interest they actually wrote his character and the interaction with Eunjoo properly. I mean what could be more poetic than Eunjoo falling in love with someone that is basically the male equivalent of her very much beloved sister lmao

      2

Why why why Kwon Yul has to play pathetic 2ML all the time when he can be one goofy and swoony Min Woo in MUF?!
