Their chemistry is effortless and thoroughly enjoyable. I’m hoping there’s a lot more cute scenes with them in the future episodes because they brighten up the drama whenever they’re together.

      Anyway, this was a great observation @peridot! I hadn’t noticed it before, and your comment sent me on a web search for Three Kingdoms earrings. 😀

      I’m assuming we don’t see many earrings during Joseon because of Confucianism? Surgery wasn’t allowed, so I imagine body piercing was similarly forbidden. We do see it in Goryeo times.

        Yes, I have a feeling Confucianism played a major part in that.

        I guess my passion for piercings drew my attention to her ears. I’ve always noticed the lack of earring in dramas set during the Joseon era. I have seen dramas set in earlier periods, but I really only just thought about this difference now.

        And now in modern-day South Korea, there are so many fun pieces of jewelry that people wear in their ears. It’s amazing how much things have changed–but this can be said about many countries in the modern era.

          I only noticed the differences in the hanbok and headpieces but strangely jewelry never caught my eye. Though now I feel I’ll be looking out for it actively. It’s interesting to see the differences between the different time periods.

        I guess I just accepted the lack of earrings in Joseon-set dramas. But @wishfultoki‘s comment about the possible role of Confucianism makes sense. We’ll all have to continue this conversation after this drama premieres. I’m sure they’ll be plenty of interesting historical input from other Beanies.

          I know for sure that wearing one earring was still a thing in the dwindling days of Goryeo, before Joseon adopted Confucianism. For example, we have Bang Won (Jang Hyuk) in the early episodes of MY COUNTRY: https://i.pinimg.com/474x/e3/d4/74/e3d47416eb6f3ed48465dbf4cea5f6e8.jpg Noticeably he stopped wearing earrings later when he became a contender for the throne.
