I haven’t had the chance to see the full 20 ep special. I’m hoping to get through them soon now that we’re on community lockdown. I’m still watching a lot of BTS footage. The never ending behind the scenes! OMG.
I had read a theory and watched an interview in which one of them said that the waterfall scene was the original ending. It seems it was true. Much better.
Now I believe that all those CQL fan speculations are ABSOLUTELY true! Yes, they changed the sequence of events in the original version because of censorship… but they used the right sequence in the special edition for international fan
I thought the waterfall scene was meant to be the ending when I watched it the first time. Now it’s validated and that’s where I’m going to stop.
Guess at some point I’ll have to try the special edition.
Any of you had enough of Untamed yet?? Not me.
@linda-palapala the wording wasn’t changed much, mainly the events sequence was changed: after they separated at top of the hill, LWJ went back to Gusu to become the Gusu Lan chef cultivator (i.e. to have authority to bring WWX to Gusu)… at the end WWX and LWJ moved back to Gusu… the waterfall scene and a reminder to their oath is the last scene…
Yes, like in the novel they move back to Gusu and WWX takes up housekeeping and training the boys.
I love how you say the waterfall scene is a reminder to their oath and that’s the last scene. That’s much more special.
Do you mean the words in the ending credits in this IG video? They are thanking the author of the novel MDZS for giving life to these characters and may they(WY and LZ) have their wishes fulfilled from now on.
Ah, thanks! So that was the same as this clip… “May they have their wishes fulfilled…” almost cry-worthy.
I’d actually re-arranged this whole last sequence in my head from the first watch, and now it’s validated!
The focus of the fanfic is on Lan XIchen but it mentions Lan Zhan and Wei Ying’s wedding. The writer shares the same view I had about the practicalities of LZ and WY living together. I think they will come to a common place or compromise but it isn’t something which just easily falls into place.

Anybody realised that they change The Untamed ending in special episode 20? So WWX moved in with LWJ at the end!!

Probably because I’m watching the first half on Viki and the last half on Netflix. Is ep 20 the last ep? All subbed I’m in.

The fact that they really did end up where they started, in Gusu. Because there’s no where else where they belong except by each other’s sides… 💓

This ending is angst free and lovely but I still think the drama ending is realistic for reasons I put in my fanwall post.
A discord beanie just shared this fan fic yesterday https://archiveofourown.org/works/22530670

Practicalities? Realism? Not for me, I’ll stick with idealism in this case!

Ha! You do you. Whichever the ending or our preference, this is the most epic romance ever.
