Beanie level: Chaebol’s poor doppelganger

ah, it finally feels like fall which means hello, seasonal depression. 🙁

I need a good cry, any movie/drama recommendations?

One melo I particularly love is “Queen for Seven Days”. Its beautiful and acting is top-notch. Plus its available on Netflix.

Have you seen Miracle in Cell No. 7 yet? If not, might be a good time to check it out.

I’ll recommend Just Between Lovers. It’s my favourite melo and one I always end up rewatching around this time.

If you can find it, there’s an old drama called Snow Queen with Hyun Bin that will make you cry your face off 😭. My friends and I loved it.

Yeah….saw this earlier and it made my head spin lol. I have no idea if we can trust this, but I really want to.

we’ll just have to wait and see how it all unfolds! but if this is true, omg hong du sik for real for reaaalll

Oh wow, I don’t know what to say. We can only work with confirmed facts. If this is true, people from his team should do something to help him asap. Also, it’s a reminder for us that venting online is a decision that shouldn’t be taken lightly. I hope the people involved really understand the implications of their action.

Very interesting, is he Hong Du shik in real life?? This is turning into a legit 16 episode drama. I think the lady bit off more than she asked for.

    2
    1

Honestly, what even is going on at this point?? Every time I open social media now I see new posts by third-parties supposedly knowing the “real truth” and muddying up the whole affair. Some are adding on to his history of bad behaviour while others are painting him as a victim.

While I wish this post is 100% true, I won’t believe it without a huge dose of skepticism. There are too many stories coming out.

    2
    1

noona’s noonchi also said, “how you see things is what’s real to you” and here’s what I see:

2
1

both parties made mistakes and both of them are/have become victims in some form or another.

I feel as though even us fans were manipulated by the media. so ultimately, we all got hurt.

cancel culture (towards seonho or ex-GF) perpetuated. And it’s a damn shame. Why is it so hard to show some compassion? Both of them are not their mistakes. Why do they choose to abandon instead of helping them get through this?

k-entertainment brings us happiness, teaches us so much about love, and they give us hope, show us patience, kindness and all other beautiful things. Why is the reality so cold, harsh and unforgiving?

    5

noona’s noonchi tells me it’s okay to feel disappointed, devastated, sorry, angry and still like, appreciate and even want to support his work. It’s okay not to choose one over the other 🥺

I appreciate that so much. Mental health is not linear/black and white. She said, we’re not one-sided people. It’s okay to feel what it is you’re feeling.

bye, going on a hiatus. this whole ordeal hit me so hard I find it hard to deal with anything K-ent related rn LOL everything just makes me sad or mad or both. hugs beanies. can\’t we all just be kind?

so quick to cancel. what a toxic industry. why do we put them on such a pedestal? they’re humans too. why aren’t they allowed second chances? that’s what i’m most sad about.

I’m not a KSH fan but it’s crazy (scary even) to see how quick the tide turns overnight. This is the real nature of an industry based on superficial attachment.

it makes me sick just thinking about it, how easily people can throw them away. ugh.

People’s love for celebrities is always a bubble. I know his scandal is not a joke but all these hate comments on the internet makes me feel sick. All the “I love you” posted replaced by “you should die” in overnight! This is scary.

        2
        1

thoughtless words kill. it’s so sad and worrisome that people never learn :((

          0
          1

I agree. The use of words ‘kill’ and ‘die’ to someone is not an easy matter. What if someone really did. can the person who said the word live after this? but people never learn.

guys. i don’t even know how to cope what the actual fuck :(((( i literally just changed my prof pic here on DB to his face. wtf seonho :(( IM NOT CANCELLING. He’s sorry. But oh my god i am sad, so sad

It’s just suspect how the news came out just now, at the height of his career. This is definitely vindictive and pre-meditated. You can’t hold just one party at fault here.

    7
    0

Why should you feel responsible for liking some actor whose private life is not so good? If that’s the case then none of the actors/idols would be saints and we need to throughly vet them from their childhood so they don’t turn out to be a fake, but is this even possible?

You paid (subscriptions, net charges, your time) to watch them entertain and they did entertain, so you really don’t need to explain to others if you are not cancelling him as an artist. @lixie in some comment mentioned it is the prize of idol culture in SK. We do not own artists, they too are humans, you don’t need to feel sorry for liking him. Be disappointed, but don’t fret yourself 🙂

im so affected by this Kim Seon Ho scandal :((( if it\’s true, then damn I\’m not a good judge of character :(( BUTTTT

I’ve literally spent the last 3 weeks watching 2 days 1 night + HCCC BTS + interviews and the ones close to him really only have good things to say about him. So those and also gut feeling tell me that it can’t be him in that damn article. im sure that reporter just wants to mess with his success and those brands that pulled out are clearly just sticking with him for the popularity and not for who he is 😒

    4
    3

Same here. I just caught up to 2D1N’s most recent episode today. Just as I clicked next, I saw the comments…Honestly he’s not my favorite on 2D1N but I can’t reconcile people’s comments about him and this scandal. I really hope his name was justly falsely associated with this scandal.

      4
      0

      Awww peach..
      1. You can’t possibly judge a character on the other side of the screen, cos you’re never sure what’s being presented to you is genuine, not even in ‘reality’ shows.
      2. Most brands are 100% in it for the money, so it’s not a shocker once someone’s image tanks they bail. They need to protect their business too.

Having said that, i’m waiting for the development of this. I’ve never been bothered by a celeb’s scandal before but this is one that i really hope is not true 😢

      10
      1

you have a point that I can’t possibly fully know KSH through his shows etc, but i believe that we do see glimpses of their real selves in these reality shows/BTS otherwise, that’s such a tough act. And it wouldn’t last.

        2
        1

I used to really like Seungri of BIGBANG and really enjoyed him in variety shows back then. I was terribly disappointed when the Burning Sun issue blew up as many of the things that he was accused with are just criminal.

I think we can never know these celebrities from everything that we see in public. They could be psychos or just damn good actors onscreen. Reality shows or variety shows still sort of operate on a “narrative” so I wouldn’t really trust what we see.

Those accusations against KSH are pretty damning, if true. He is also currently losing endorsements left and right, immediately after the end of a highly successful drama.

          5
          0

aahhh you guys this is making me incredibly sad :(( lol why do i care so much about this lol you know what this feels like? it feels like ive been holding my breath since this came anout and that’s not good, at some point, it’ll get too much. but i will be holding my breath until we get a definite answer!! 😭😭

      2
      1

my fangirl heart has never been this anxious before. I want it to be not him, but it can’t be good if they’re taking long to deny it 😢

        4
        0

I don’t want it to be true, but I’ve been around long enough to know his agency taking a day to put out a statement only to say they are still confirming facts is not a good sign. Brands are bailing, you deny, deny, deny unless there is truth to the accusations.

That said, I hate scandals involving people’s private lives. Emotions run high. The truth is usually complicated.

    9
    1

right? when his agency took a whole day to offer a statement and said ‘we’re checking fact’, my heart sunk

      1
      0

Don’t blame yourself for judgement of character (whether true or not) – even people you know in real life can really surprise/shock you, let alone people you only know from a screen.

    10
    0

It’s the timing of stuff like this that I find reprehensible. True or not, it’s timed to create the most possible damage.

    5
    0

It doesn’t mean the whole story is necessary false or true.

    2
    0

I am not a huge fan of him but there is always two sides to every story. What we are hearing from one side might look really really bad but maybe he could have his reasons. Who knows? I just find it really distasteful to ‘cancel’ someone for their personal business. As long as someone hasn’t broken the law.

    7
    0

Hey, I feel the same as you. *Sends virtual hugs* 😊 This is like Jisoo all over again, an actor I used to like before his bullying scandal. However, unlike Jisoo, I am unable to easily move on from KSH and keep hoping it’ll turn out to be false, maybe because

    1. The effect of his latest onscreen “Du Shik” personna is still lingering on my mind.
    2. I am weekly watching 2D1N and am feel emotionally attached.
    3. His scandal is more of a personal incident, in which fans, IMO, shouldn’t have much of a saying. I am not saying what he did is right, but this incident isn’t a collective social responsibility.

There is limit to the amount of wrong that one can condemn or not, but what we as fans can hope is that, if it turns out to be true, other stars can learn from this and be self aware of their doings.

    you and me both 😥😥😥
and this is not my first heartbreak due to my fave. So imagine how I’m feeling right now. I thought after the last one I’m wiser but…. dang it. I’m angry at myself to be so affected by this.
I watched him from his debut drama and took my time and I thought he is decent enough to follow but here we are now

I loved Hometown Cha Cha Cha so much because of Gongjin. It was a dreamy, heartwarming place that made you feel so loved and accepted.

i acknowledge the growth she’s had since she moved to gongjin, but there were moments in the last few episodes where her intentions just felt ingenuine to me/still out of selfish reasons?

i feel like hong banjang is out of her league. but maybe that’s because her character arc wasn’t as fleshed out? 🥴 just my opinion

I think it’s good everyone involved is connected to Ji PD. He can give good advice to everyone.

I think DS will need to heal before resuming a relationship. I think he’s encourage HJ to take the Seoul job offer, and she’ll come back in a year when the wine is ready.

        5
        1

I was surprised by the connection to the other variety show guy, but I kind of like being surprised. Otherwise, the actual trauma seems to be about what I figured. Car accident that may or may not have been his fault but everyone blamed him, and he blames himself.

    7

YES my thoughts exactly!! I liked the surprise too!

      me too..
that punch by Do Ha was hard and I feel his anger towards Du sik and seeing Du Sik all passive made me feel how much emotional burden and trauma this boy had been thru that he goes all blank with no realization to present (and I correct myself ant his blank expression post where you told me he was supposed to be blank.. after seeing this scene I realized it’s not KSH lack of acting but Du Sik doesn’t want to cause he goes in trance thinking abt past)

I gather all of us had pieced together HBJ’s past in our heads and so no one sees this twist coming. The whole bean thing and healing effect in the earlier episode seemed to firm up his helpful and knowledgeable character.

Now I just can’t wait to know the full story and how his hyeong died (accident or suicide?) and what role did HBJ played in all these.
