Beanie level: Noble idiot

For the second time this year, I can beat my chest proudly and say:
I love you On the Verge of Insanity 🥰🥰. Shin Han Soo’s 🤩 eyes at Choi Ban Seok was the perfect ending.
Truly a story of the everyday office worker. Definitely storing it in my favorite file.

This started out as an office drama and ended as a story about Shin Han Soo’s crush on Choi Ban Seok. No one can convince me otherwise. This was THE MOST SATISFYING WATCH of 2021. I dare 2021 to give me a better show. (I’ll be terribly happy if it does, but Insanity has set a very high bar!)

Thought I was fantasising about Han Soo’s crush on Ban Seok. Guess I was not alone.
It really was a satisfying watch.

      3
      1

In terms of K-drama tropes there is solid evidence for a crush, haha: (1) Han-soo gives up a 6-figure salary for Ban-seok. (2) Han-soo throws a tantrum when Ban-seok leaves. (3) Han-soo thinks longingly of their first meal together. (4) Han-soo sees Ban-seok in other people wearing checked shirts. (5) Han-soo stares at Ban-seok’s face so much that Ban-seok thinks it’s dirty. (This one really clinches it for me.) (6) It’s Han-soo and Ban-seok who share the final scene (not Ja-young and Ban-seok).

Come on, it’s staring us in the face!

        3
        2

          😂😂😂
Totally make sense. In a rom-com, these would have been canon moments of the relationship.

Fabulous list. Yes exactly. I suspected it from the first meet-cute. But those googly eyes in the last couple of eps confirmed all my suspicions once and for all.

I might also add that I was rooting for this OTP all the way through, more than Ja-young and Ban-seok -for which they unnecessarily trolled so much right till the end!

Also, my other fav pairing was the Shin siblings – I’d watch a spinoff of just them bickering.

I have always respected Shin Han Soo but he was the MVP of episode 15 for me.
For someone who is a serial job switcher, you realise, what he was looking for was not the right challenge but the right environment and leader. He found that in Ban Seok.
And when the time came, he stuck with the team (albeit a bit mopey) and was ready to tackle the challenge they had at hand because he had the right leader/partner.
Even when Ban Seok resigned, rather than go back to look for a job, he stayed to fix the problem.
He has really grown. He didn’t abandon ship like he would have four or five episodes ago.
And when the right challenge and leader came, he offered himself.
That is what we call growth. Super proud of him.

I haven’t checked out this episode yet as wanting to see the final two eps together but what you just said is definitely the most welcoming development!!

I enjoyed his sass and carefree attitude throughout the show. The character development was a bonus 🙂

#onthevergeofinsanity rant.
I really can’t get into Han Se Gwon’s character. What he is doing is going to affect him more than he thinks.
Experience has thought me to never get in between sibling rivalry and business; they usually turn on the outsider.
His sabotage is going to only put a small dent on President Han’s plans. It would only make him give up one little thing or the other. Sure it’s a loss but not a deep one.
The real ones he is going to hurt are the ordinary workers who put their heart, time, health, and ideas into this. Sure not all of them are doing it for pure reasons but they are not destroying people’s lives.
Se Gwon doesn’t care because he never birthed any good idea. Nobody, no matter how broken they are, would want to destroy what they created.
The only way Han Se Gwon would survive is if he leaves the country, starts up his own company, or leaves the tech industry. He really isn’t as smart as he thinks he is.
The brothers or cousins or whatever they are might even be laughing at his pitiable self.
Sadly, there are many people like him in the world. They would rather destroy everything when they have nothing. Rather than take responsibility for their actions, they would put the blame on others and the world. Trying to rationalise with people like this is hopeless because they are too self-absorbed and conceited.
In a revenge drama, this contrived plot would be a selling point with a main lead wanting to dish out justice. But this time, I hope he eats his shit without dragging down anyone. I really pity the junior developers.

Waiting impatiently (😒) for the final week.

Han Se-gwon is a lousy engineer, a hopeless leader and an all-round idiot. Why does he think he can bring down Han Seung-ki and Hanmyeong Electronics when he can’t even handle Choi Ban-seok? It’s great that Seo Na-ri realises how stupid his scheme is and refuses to participate in it, even though she really does love him.

For the first time this year, I can beat my chest proudly and say this:
I love you Racket Boys🤩🥰
Haven’t been able to say that about any drama in 2021.
Now, On the Verge of Insanity, be my second☹

Kim Jun-Wan is the saddest person on earth. What would he do without Do Jae-Hak.☹

Just watched Kingdom: Ashin of the North and I have to say this:
[  ] The poor and helpless always pay for the sins of the rich and powerful
[  ] A good guy to you could be a bad guy to another
[  ] Some men will always be pigs
[  ] What is Park Byung-Hun’s character’s real age
[  ] I hope there is a season 3 with Ashin giving Joseon hell.

Sell Your Haunted House has my heart.
Hong Ji-Ah showed so much character development this episode. From her usual no nonsense when she performs exorcism to actually paying attention to the ghost and trying to make it easy for her.
I so much loved that scene, it showed In-Bum’s influence when he tells her the spirits are also people before they died.
This episode was about them realising what they meant to eachother. And I loved their acceptance of the situation.
Ji-Ah knew In-Bum was important to her and she didn’t fight it. And In-Bum knew he had to patiently wait for her until she came around. He really is a good person.
An aside: I would have loved a reverse where In-Bum had absorbed the memory of the ghost instead. It would have been really nice to see him in a dress. But I know the romance has to kick off in full swing sometime.
Still love the show.
Too late to back out.

Can Wednesday come already…I want Episode 9 of Sell Your Haunted House like now 🥺
I knew I should have waited to binge 😫

I am wanting the next eps of SYHH now, too! The show is good, and the badass Jang Na-ra and softie Yong-hwa are just love. They’re adorable together.

Sell You Haunted House is becoming my favourite of the week. I have watched all six episode twice😁
Don’t know If Doom At Your Service will swipe its top spot in my watching list, but we’ll see🤷🏾‍♀️

I don’t know how, but Haunted House seems to get better and better with each episode. It’s almost scaring me. Currently my top watch, too!

I know right. It just feels so right. It’s been a while I watched episodes back to back. Glad I can do that again in 2021.
Here’s hoping the second half of the show gets even better.

I think I can get behind Sisyphus’ ending. It’s telling us no matter what Tae-Sul does, someone is going to come for the uploader. So why not just take the creator out of the equation. At least Seo-Hae will be going back to where she came from, and he will be living in a dream-state, which is probably his afterlife.
Not the best of endings but still honest with itself.
Bye bye Sisyphus, you gave me a fun Cho Seung-Woo character. I will rematch only to see his cheeky 😏 side.

I think Joseon Exorcist’s production team should have aimed for Netflix from the start. That way people will see the whole and not the parts of the drama before making such judgement.

3

And the writer needs to go for a cleansing like they say in my country. Two back-to-back problematic dramas is a sign he should take seriously. Either he has a narcissistic attitude and doesn’t pay attention to social norms or he his just unlucky with people not getting what he wants to tell with his story.

So sad about this. I was saving it for a weekend watch but this happened. I feel bad for the cast and crew.

    1
    0

I could see the backlash being even worse in that scenario tbh.

    1
    1

True. But at least it would be an informed backlash. Every element will be in place. Even i see myself throwing shade at the production team.
But for now, it looks more like netizens throwing tantrums.
I know the situation is more delicate than I think, but I can’t get over the hardwork and careers they just threw dirt on.

Wish I could hug the cast and crew of Joseon Exorcist. The cancellation news hurts more because I love the main cast. Something better will come. This drama has set a precedent.
But we move

I can’t judge Koreans’ feelings towards some topics, but I’m sad for cast and crew.

    2
    1

IKR. There are some topics or character portrayal i would get offended with, if not told or not done properly. But know what I do when that happens? Ignore, because everyone has a right to tell their story or representation how they want to. The world didn’t end when I ignored, neither did it change because of artistic licence privilege. It just opened a path to other possibilities.
I think people actually jumped the gun with Joseon Exorcist. Only two episodes and they deemed it unworthy of Korean viewers. At least they should have waited after the editing and maybe half the show’s run before condemning it to purgatory.
All in all, their history and their right to choose how they want it to be told.
My heart is totally breaking for the crew most especially.😞

I feel the same way. It is such a shame that they caved into pressure from netizens.

    2
    1

I think the main reason is that they were losing the sponsors, which means they don’t have the financial support to move forward 😔.

I keep chanting to myself I love Cho Seung-Woo I love Cho Seung-Woo I love Cho Seung-Woo to will myself past Wednesday-Thursday.
But I think Sisyphus will scare him back to musicals
What will I do?😰

I just picked this one up again after stopped watching it at ep.4. I think it’s pretty good in terms of the cast; I can say that the leads have very good chemistry. There is this warm energy around them that is now keeping my interest.

Re: your question about him returning to musicals, I don’t know. I just hope that won’t be the case as he can simply ration this as a mistake in terms of project choosing.

    1
    1

It’s not the cast I have a problem with, everyone is actually pulling their weight. And i love them for it. It’s everything else that bothers me.
I’m a writer and I can balantly see the holes as big as a canyon. The directing and editing are not helping either.
I hope Seung-Woo-shi can see the positive in this and not run away to his safety musical net. Since he is known to pick excellent projects, I have faith he will solidly bounce back. Whether a movie or drama I want him to come back soon on my screen.
As for Sisyphus, I will trudge along like a rose-color blinded fan😍

I think everyone sees that the cast is carrying the whole show. 😳

Woke up to good news. tvN is coming to the cable provider in my country. I get to watch so many good shows, though dubbed. I can’t wait to wear my family out😂. And the best part, I work from home💃🏿

I wanted a flexible job that would get me to do other things. I finally got a job like that, working from home. And now I can’t stop looking at my bed in the afternoons. It is literally calling me😭

You need to get away from your bed. It’s best if you can setup your work table outside of your bedroom and make it a point not to go into the bedroom unless during lunch break bathroom breaks

It does. It seems to have supernatural elements but that is yet to be proven. I like the special police team already. And happy-crazy people who jump to their deaths, my kind of mystery 😁

The voice of the prototype AI, Jang Young-Sil has always intrigued me. So it was my utter surprise when I saw the cast list and Yeo Jin-Goo is credited as the AI.

This is even better than finding out JARVIS was voiced by Paul Bettany. Now I want my own Jang Youn-Sil, even with all of its imperfections. Start-Up can do no wrong for me now🥰

In the meantime, the world of Secret is about to be turned upside down.
I really do hope the second lead gets the girl! You deserve it Do-Hwa. Or better still, rebel and go solo. The choice is yours
