Beanie level: Candy

weightlifting fairy kim bok-joo was an amazing ride. It brought back the drama feels and vibes that we love and miss. I loved everything about it (except the part where she liked his brother 💀)

I’ve been a Kdrama fan for a while but because there are so many great kdramas out there I can’t believe I haven’t had the time to watch weightlifting fairy Kim bok-joo. But I finally did!!

2521 was so amazing that I can’t imagine our kdrama universe without it (though I am going to pretend the last 2 episodes don’t exist)

I agree this was outstanding writing. Reminded me of the vibe in Reply 1988 and Hospital playlist slice of life with rom com elements are my favourite genres. This level of angst worked well but the last two episodes were still tough. I didn’t feel gutted like I did when Yumi’s cells just finished and I felt like I was left hanging. There were unanswered questions but they were not major plot holes for me.

I’ve been wanting to watch Yumi’s Cells season 1 for a while. But then I saw in season 2 it’s a different lead so I kinda got confused and felt like I’d be in for a major heartache.

Each season is contained but she learns lessons in each one. I would watch a couple of episodes to get in touch with the character and the cells and then if you want to watch live go with the second season but if you prefer binge watching you could work your way through season one and depending on how quickly you watch then come in season 2 without the year long wait the rest of us had to endure.

I love watching the bromance in StartUp. That anthem conversation always cracks me up. Although after I binge watch all the funny scenes it always ends up making me sad that she didn\’t choose Jipyeong

I’m a NJH fan, so I’m cool with the end pairing but I wish we’d had more bromance. The anthem scene is hilarious! ^^

We will never find our closure with this show. I have always been on this sunk ship. This might disturb some (warning alert) but I always had this suspicion that if some other actor portrayed the character Do-san instead of NJH, the character would look less annoying and childish. The character Do-san looked like a cry baby and I always wondered if that really was the intention of the director and writer.

Now that I think about it, yeah, could be. NJH had those pretty but always about to cry eyes (which served him well in 2521).

Do-san was allowed to be softer than most male leads, no overly masculine nonsense. I loved it. There’s nothing wrong with being a bit sensitive.

I didn’t like his scenes when he acted like he was about to cry. I felt like it looked forced and it looked like a baby crying. He was better in 2521: his crying scenes looked sad then.

Yah same! I like NJH a lot and I like the way he acts but when Kim seonho comes on screen he always takes the spotlight. Even the writer couldn’t help but make us fall in love with him and his story. But I guess NJH is good with the emotions and knows how to bring them out though I would want him to tone it down.

He should have toned it down in SU. His character might have moved me more and made me root for him and the FL had the character looked more mature.

The bromance was the best part. Its sad that the triangle got in the way of that.
I understood why she chose DoSan. In the flow of the story it made sense. I felt that she fell for DoSan at first sight due to what he did for her at that party. Being the person whom she needed at her most desperate was the biggest factor. Timing was everything. And the letter DoSan was just supplemental to her reasons for liking this person before her.

Yah I guess she would have always chosen Do-San but at least she should have given Jipyeong a chance. He’s the one who worked really hard to make her and Halmeoni happy. And not gonna lie it’s Jipyeong character that made me finish the series. I wish there was a side episode for an alternate ending just so I can get some closure.

What I wanted was more bromance between DS and JP. But the bromance between the samsan boys made up for it. I also love JP’s relationship with halmeoni. It was one of the highlights for me.
About the chance, Dalmi didnt know what he did for her at the time. But when she knew it, she was very thankful but her heart was already with someone else.

Honestly, the issue with this drama was the female characters more than the love story.

HJP was the most interesting character with his past, his relationship with Halmeoni, his present self.

Dal-Mi was the worst written character. She was mean with her sister without reason. She was bad as a CEO, she never really took a good decision, she was nothing without HJP’s help in business and DS’s genius coding. Her reaction about the letter was inexistant, it didn’t make sense when she didn’t date at all because of these letters. Her motive to create a start-up was stupid too. The writer could have written her so better by creating a relationship between the sisters, giving her something when she was good in, etc.

You honestly described how I feel about the drama perfectly! She barely made a reaction when she needed to. And it didn’t feel like it was her passion to create a start up it’s everyone around her’s passion but not her. I think if her character was written differently I would have different feelings about the drama.

I agree. She is the worst FL character in my book. She was supposed to be a strong character but ended up as a helpless candy after all. It didn’t help that Kang Hanna outshined Suzy in every scene they had together.

I actually love both leads n tho i felt bad for JP I didn’t mind the ending. I think we have to give credit to Nam Da Reum though, he did a great job setting up HJP and hooking us up emotionally to the character.

HJP was a well written character all through out and both NDR and KSH did a hell of a job fleshing it out.

Yes to all of this. With this combo, I wonder if any actor could have made me root for him instead of HJP.

Who\’s gonna be watching Eve this wednesday?

I am but I don’t do well with thriller type dramas as I want stress free viewing. The shots look stunning though so I think if the story is a beautifully written as the cinematography it will be a great watch.

Yeah same that’s why I’ve been having a hard time starting ‘tomorrow’. I don’t wanna be sad 🙁

There is one thing that Our blues taught me and that it’s not enough to love someone, you must also like them so that you can enjoy their presence.

Not watching Our Blues, but this reminds me of one of my favorite lines from Parks & Recreation where the character says in her wedding vows “I love you and I like you”, which to me is the epitome of a strong and healthy relationship.
