Beanie level: Noble idiot

Ep 11 case wasn’t the most riveting, but Young Woo and Jun Ho remain adorable so squeee. Curious about how will Dad react to them. A Truck of Doom or two I can cope with, but that Boston folder being there like Chekov’s gun has got me worried we are heading for one of the most infuriating tropes in kdramaland.

For once the Truck of Doom Divine Retribution was quite welcome 🙂

I certainly hope they avoid that trope but am not hopeful. If they have to do it, I hope they take the Our Beloved Summer route where there is no break up, and they visit and communicate the whole time.

Crash Landing On You – I just started episode 4 and I can’t with the female leads behaviour. I know it’s played for laughs but it’s just too unrealistic that someone in her situation would be that demanding, entitled and sassy with not one but 5 North Korean officers that she just met. Also reckless. I do mostly like the show and Seri as a character but someone behaving like that in such a situation is as believable as the CGI they use.

I still don’t understand how people watched, let alone enjoyed this show and watched it to the end.

    2
    1

I have loads of reasons why I hate the show, the main one being how it portraited North Korea as this sweet nice village with no WiFi.

Does “Lost” have a similar vibe to “When The Weather Is Fine”?

Scandals don’t really affect my enjoyment of actors past dramas, you have to separate the art from the artist or there wouldn’t be much left to watch. Same as how someone playing a villain doesn’t mean they are evil in real life, someone playing the sweet lead doesn’t make them a good person, but people tend to project. I assume behind the public image most are messy at best anyway. However I might choose not to support any future work, especially in cases where people have comitted more extreme offenses.

18
2

Haha..Yes… I can definitely can separate character with real life persona. I usually like the actor because I love their acting and the way the potray the character I Love. And I mostly stick with it, hehe …

    Well said 🙂

Not sure what to make of the Kim Seon Ho scandal, while trashy it’s his private life. But that’s why I mostly stick with liking the characters they play rather than the actors themselves. Fictional men are better.

17
3

It is scary how one post can destroy someone life. I think the main problem is that K-media made him as the most pure man in the earth but we all know there is no such that.

    5
    1

Yeah, the image he built as this cute, innocent guy certainly didn’t help him in the end

“Fictional men are better”. Amen, sister.

For the sake of the other cast and crew I’m glad Kim Seon Ho scandal rumours started after Hometown Cha Cha Cha finished airing. Also for the drama itself, so we can have a finished product without any emergency cast or script change. If true he can now face consequences without ruining the work of others.

12
1

    I second this.
irrespective of what the outcome would be.. he is innocent or not.. I really felt relieved that HoemCha dint have to face the fate of River where moon rises.. I really felt bad for that dramas cast n crew…

I really hate the dead wife/girlfriend /first love trope so much. One can’t compete with a ghost. I hope that’s not the direction a certain drama is going.

A male lead who lost his wife and child a few years ago would be too much for a rom-com. I don’t see how writer can be THAT tone deaf.

I think this was the family of Do Shik’s friend/colleague. Before the photo scene, Do Shik talked with café owner about how jealous must be people who don’t have dads. I believe, he was talking about the kid of his dead friend, rather than himself.

Had zero interest in watching “Mad For Each Other” but decided to give it a try after reading beanies positive comments about it and ended up really liking it. It had good storytelling and a surprisingly decent take on mental health issues. It got a little over the top at the end but still good

What’s up with dramas lately going so heavy with the blur filter on faces, it’s distracting. It’s okay for actors to have pores.

I’m pretty sure Oh My Ladylord was marketed as a rom com and the first episode I saw looked like a rom com, but it’s actually more of a fantasy melo? I’m confused.

How’d it end? This is one I was excited for during the promos but never actually picked it up. I’m curious though since I kinda skim read the recaps.

I haven’t watched it either but from spoilers I saw the male lead disappeared/died in the end.

Oh. Wasn’t this the drama that said it would be heartwarming? Good thing I didn’t watch it.

        6
        1

It is far from heartwarming. It is a hot mess beyond any comprehension. Please, do not watch it. Watching paint dry would be a better use of your time.

Thanks for the heads up Lakes! I was really gonna watch this but now it’s an easy pass. *phew*

            0

I can’t agree more with Lakes. Please don’t watch. There’s something rom com up to episode 6 and then it’s a mess and not even gorgeous Nana and LMK makes it worth watching.
And never trust this writer again.
            End of disclaimer.

I know right? We’re so focus on 2nd lead that never get the girl as the “sad(dest) boy” and forgot about him whose let alone get the girl, hes rarely alive by the end of the drama.

(He got package deal at the end of never twice. Its weekend drama and i skipped almost everything except him and yeolmu scenes 🤣🤣)

I second this. Watch Never Twice and ff to his OTP scenes.

Im thinking on rewatching NT, ffing to his and yeolmu (and yeolmu omma) scenes, and pretend this as season 2 of hanseo under another alias.

It sounds like he had a cute role in Never Twice, might check it out. But I still hope he gets a lead soon in a weekday drama. He’s got the acting chops for it.

I love him from Modern Farmer, he was such a remarkable baby there😁

He’s wonderful isn’t he? I’ve watched Moonlight several times, love it when he walks past the archery boards and the arrows miss him! He was only 19 when he played Kim Byung-yeon!

I could kinda understand Joseon Exorcist getting cancelled as that show at least aired it’s premiere and the issues they took with it were based on something they actually saw, but the petition against Snowdrop I can’t understand. For all we know the drama could tackle that difficult period in korean history in a sensibile manner. At this point they are mad about something they don’t have confirmation about, as you know, the drama hasn’t aired one minute yet.

I don’t think people are thinking logically anymore…or people are just jumping on the bandwagon to nitpick at everything.

    4

Till date, my biggest pet peeve about Snowdrop is them casting Jisoo as the FL. They are setting g her up for massive backlash and depriving other actresses of a genuine opportunity. I love Jisoo but acting as a lead without doing supporting roles first is a big no for me

#2020Roundup
Day15: Secondary characters you will never forget

Han Ji Pyeong from Start Up because it was one of those lighting in a bottle moments where the right character meets the right actor and now I know what’s it like to have second lead syndrome.
Lee Jang Woo and Im Hwi from When The Weather Is Fine because I would love to have them as my friends. In a drama full of reserved characters they were outspoken and fun but still caring and loyal.
Moon Sang Tae from It’s Okay To Not Be Okay because that was some great acting and he was the best big brother (although he was more of a lead than secondary character)

2020 Round Up
Day 12 – the “oldie” that you loved:

I watched more older dramas this year than I did new releases so it’s hard to pick just one. I narrowed it down to 3, in no particular order:
The Secret Life Of My Secretary
The Package

I went into The Secret life of my secretary expecting fluff but got more depth than I was expecting. Particularly liked that they treated his condition seriously. (Also the male lead looked really good in the suits)

#2020 Round Up Day 9– The drama you watched just because and ended up loving

This too was going to be Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol… and then that ending happened. So instead I’m going to take a risk and pick a drama I’m only halfway through (I checked the ending and it looks alright). Going in I was sure I might end up dropping this drama because I read a description that said it was a melodrama and I don’t do melos. Also the word boring came up a few times when reading about this drama,so really the only reason I clicked play was because of it’s winter setting which seemed perfect for this time of year. And indeed, it is perfect for a winter watch. I ended up loving it’s characters and that sense of community it gives. It’s slow paced but not boring, in my opinion. It’s really heartwarming, like a warm cup of tea on a cold winter day. Without further ado I present you I’ll Find You On A Beautiful Day / When The Weather Is Fine

14

Yay! So much love for Weather, I’m so happy you’re enjoying it!

I would call this drama anything but boring, is such a warm and heartfelt drama. So many emotions come to mind when I talk about it! It’s true it has a very slow path, but it’s never boring,
I’m glad you like it. It’s one of my top 3 dramas of the year.
Enjoy. And don’t worry about the ending, as it’s a good one.
I have to sayo, though, I felt the last two episodes were not up to the rest of the drama, but it happens to me almost in every drama, as if I didn’t want to let go…

    4
    2

I agree about the last two episodes…it felt a tad bit rushed. But like you, I think part of it was that I didn’t want to let them go. We saw them in winter, but I also wanted to see them in spring, too.

      4
      0

Thank you for the reassurance that the ending is good. I’m used to dramas not being as strong in their last episodes as they started. I’m slowly making my way through it because I don’t want it to end too soon.

#2020 Round Up Day 8: the OTP you didn’t think you’d adore

When I first saw the prompts for the roundup I was sure for this one I would pick Jun and Ra Ra from Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol because I was unfamiliar with the actors but found them really cute together. Until that ending happened so instead my choice is Lee Chul San and Jung Sa Ha from Start Up
They are not even the second leads so I didn’t really expect to care much about them at the beginning , but I ended finding them adorable together.

#2020RoundUp Day 2- Female lead you will never forget

Ko Mun Yeong (Seo Ye Ji) from It’s Okay Not To Be Okay
Whatever you might think of her character, she is certainly memorable

#2020RoundUp Day 1 – The ML you will never forget (for better)

Moon Gang Tae (Kim Soo Hyun) from It\’s Okay Not To Be Okay

Runner up: Im Eun Seob (Seo Kang Joon) from When The Weather Is Fine/ I\’ll Find You On A Beautiful Day because I\’m in the process of watching this drama and so far I love his sweet nature, and I relate to his awkwardness and love of books.

Two of my favourites too, both warm and caring.
    And so damn beaytiful.

Color me shocked but I think the time skip in Start Up worked well. I\’m wary cause I have no idea what conflict they could possibly introduce for the last 3 episodes.

Since Dalmi needs developers, SST to the rescue. The next episode or two will probably be about Tarzan and getting that permit. Fine tuning the tech. We might even get Dosan and Jipeyong arm wrestling over who gets Dalmi in the end 😂

well they have the conflict right.. dosan thinks DM and JP are together as a couple
