On a rewatch of Misaeng. Misaeng is truly that series. Such a crowning achievement for Korean TV series. I have nothing but high praises for this drama.

Korea, give us more like this.

    Couldn’t agree more – it was one of the first kdramas I showed my mum and I’ve since found it so hard to meet that standard. Such a classic – MORE PLEASE!

      Uneraseable characters too. They have stayed with me for quite awhile.

      The likes of Young-Yi, Baek-Ki, Seok-Yeul, Geu-rae, Chief aof and Dong-sik, they linger in my mind awhile. I’m grateful for it.

    tbh, with how many drugs he has been apparently taking I would rather he got caught now then wind up dead later on. I am just worried he might have to go to prison or forget about his acting career…

    there was an estonian actor who recently cam forth saying he used cocaine for 10 years. I dont approve. even if they regret and express remorse. it is a drug that supports organised crime. there might be people enslaved, organs sold, people murdered, people dead from transporting drugs in their body. never ok
    at the same time, once you are addicted you gota have it. thats why I dont approve even ever trying drugs.
    it is possible that he didnt think about that. but cmon. he is a grown man.

    too bad. of course, drugs are common in entertainment industry. frankly I wish when the dealer and the drugring is caught, they should get capital punishment.

      Well said! Sadly, most people are not aware about the organized crime that takes place to sell it illegally in countries that have stringent laws.

    I hope he gets the support he needs. If he uses it, he needs rehabilitation, not punishment. Those who sell have to be caught and punished.

    The ketamine stuck out to me. When you look up the history of the drug, I wonder how severe his depression is or are there other symptoms as well. And to think all of this started as a doctor’s audit. Those doctor’s who recommended or wrote those scripts need to have some charges brought against them as well. What one in their right mind would recommend ketamine before looking at any other options or having your patient seek talk therapy and look at recommendations from that.

    Horrendous! Is it also because people were dressed in Halloween costumes? (Just like what we saw in Itaewon Class) 180 casualties or so from lack of air outside sounds so terrifying! I hope they can prevent any more deaths.

      Itaewon during Halloween is the happening place. Just like in the series. Yep. Everyone is dressed up, everyone ready to party.

      It’s always crowded every year. I read in someone’s post, “There’s a row of bars and restaurants that border a sea of people flowing in two directions. You will get stuck and move with the flow no matter where you step in this current. There is no turning back, you just keep half inching forward till you reach the end of the street or you drift into an alley to escape the flow, only to be sucked into another current. It’s endless. It’s sweaty. It’s astonishing. It’s amazing.”

      I also find it amazing to watch them in the past few years. It is organized chaos every year. It was on my wish list. What I didn’t expect is that there were no process in place in case of emergencies. Ambulance and local officials had a difficult time getting in through the area most hit. And I don’t know if they will limit that next year. How could they, when it’s an open area.

    Why do you think it is business as usual? They’ve declared national mourning until Nov 5 and many concerts/festivals have been canceled. Granted it will be hard to say what changes will occur until the next similar event.

    I must be one of the few people that liked Kenobi. I was waiting until Andor was fully released to binge it.

      I waited as well until it had more episodes. Now, the struggle of waiting for one new episode in the next four weeks. Should have waited.

      Kenobi was my least favorite of the SW live action series Disney released. Nothing extraordinary about it. Boba Fett was also bad, except for some Mando episodes.

      So, I was meh about Andor going in. And I guess that worked, coz I’m hype up now with this series.

    Best one yet from Disney. I enjoyed Dave Filoni’s “Tales of the Jedi” too but it felt like a promo for “Ahsoka.”

Why is Seo Ji Hoon not getting enough recognition in Korea? Good looking actor with credentials to his belt.

We need more lead roles, or for that matter adult roles from him.

It still amazes me that so many Korean actors are smoking. Not just many, it’s like all of them smoke. At the same time, they have to maintain a healthy body for image. It just doesn’t makes sense.

I know I’m part of the problem as someone who consumes the output, but exercise, for example, is more about obtaining a certain body/look than about the benefits of being active and healthy. Your simple sentence sums it up, and it cuts across all facets of health and well-being.😢

    Not sure where you’re from but from my understanding it’s more common in Korea (and a lot of other countries tbh) than in my country (the US). Especially for men, some of them start smoking in the military as a social thing.

    I personally don’t understand why anyone would smoke, but I even know doctors who smoke… 😬

      I’m in the US, and yes I don’t see many young kids smoking these days. It used to be a cool thing to do for them. Now, maybe they’re smoking other things, rather than cigarettes.

      Okay, I kept wondering how these actors learned how to smoke in the first place. Military makes sense. Yes, I’m aware that it’s common in Korea, but it’s shocking to me that every actor know how to smoke cigarettes.

      Ha! In Hospital Playlist, there were scenes where they were smoking. So, that’s accurate. Smh!

    I was reading a webtoon and they were smoking on that which surprised me as I thought smoking was not in for youngsters these days.

      Maybe in Korea, they still find it sexy and cool. I mean look at Byun Yo Han there. It just oozes charisma.

      In the US, many of the restaurants went away with smoking indoors, except maybe few bars. We don’t see dramas or movies glamorizing it anymore.

        I guess it depends on your POV. To me it oozes sleaziness and stupidity. It’s a throwback to the James Dean era, except they had the excuse of ignorance and we don’t.

Young Actors Retreat. What a treat to see them together in one show. That is quite an accomplishment.

Hwang In Yeop is adorkable. A revelaton in th first 2 episodes. Cute.

If You Wish Upon Me Ep1. Of course I\’m gonna watch my Ji Chang Wook, despite not finishing any of his dramas after Healer.

And what an actor he is. He\’s good here. Nailing his character once more. Sooyoung, Sung Dong Il, and the numerous character actors here, solid. No lack of experience there.

Because of the theme though, I will take this series one episode at a time. It\’s not a series I expect to be excited about every week. Still, what a solid first episode. Wishing them high ratings.

Ughh, I hate it so much when a Netflix produced drama starts with a very obvious exposition. Did the production team not see how ridiculous it sounds on paper, and later when they watch it on screen? I mean, they have the budget, why not figure out a way to not make it obvious from the get go. Smh. So for now, I will watch something else.

I put Netflix kdrama originals in high esteem, especially knowing what they did with Kingdom. I expect quality writing and directing from the get go.

      The way they introduced their characters just turns me off, for a Netflix drama with better budget than most kdramas.

    Not sure how they can make this not obvious considering that the story is well known already. The Spanish version pretty much started the same way. There are key differences with the backstories and the personalities at least , but the situation and the setting is the same.
