It was worth getting to ep 8 of Alchemy for two reasons:
1. Mu-deok changed her hair.
2. Wook actually achieved cool something by himself.

I realise I don’t mind rom coms with stalkers because it means the angst is coming from something other than a bratty ex / love rival. ^^

    Exactly! That is what I have always said! I like rom-coms with a side of thriller, or even better, thrillers with a side of rom-com, because there is less reason and time to invent forced lovers angst!

        I keep hearing the Hong sister’s being mentioned with a negative statement afterwards. I just looked them up and I haven’t watched any of their dramas but I thought Hotel Del Luna and My girlfriend is a Gumiho got good reviews.

            Ok sounds like going in not expecting much is the best approach and if it turns out well it’s a bonus. Maybe there are a couple of good ones that leads to the high expectations for the others which are not in the same league.

            My problem is usually the editing – big budget dramas are given free reign to make story arcs unnecessarily long, usually at the expense of intelligent characters…

          I have watched 9 out of their 12 dramas. In my opinion their shows are always new and different, with a ridiculous sense of humour, and unusaul characters played by very charismatic actors. I watch them for the fun and ridiculousness I know they will provide. I don’t get upset when their shows don’t end spectacularly well. I never expect that of any drama no matter which writer. I have learned my lesson a long time ago. If I don’t like the show then so be it. Next time, lower expectations.

          It’s clearly the hype. The Hong Sisters were extremely popular on Dramabeans about 5 years ago. It’s only recently that there’s so much negativity around them. If I remember correctly, Javabean and Girlfriday were big fans.

          Honestly, I never understood the hype because the Hong Sisters were always hit or miss for me.

          I liked only 3 of their dramas: MGiaG, A Korean Odyssey, and Hotel del Luna.

          I absolutely hated the other dramas of theirs I’ve seen: Delightful Girl, Warm&Cozy, Master’s Sun, My Girl, and You’re Beautiful.

            True. JB and GF being great fans definitely contributed to the high expectations on db. The fact is they were native Korean speakers and understood every single pun and joke and reference that the writers used, so they definitely enjoyed their shows much more than the average foreign kdrama fan does.

            It’s true if you get the translations without the subtleties then you lose the meaning, like the translator spoke about in Run on. I didn’t like that drama but I knew exactly what she meant.

Yes to dramas that finish strong!
The middle angst was completely unnecessary (and wasted lots of potential as @radily said), but I loved the last couple of episodes. Friendship group goals!

    Agreed the drama with his mum could have been a good enough side plot. That would have left plenty of time for focusing on the humour like jealousy over the lattes and other elements of bromance and the side couples.

    Probably the first drama I’ve seen where the female lead hides a dead body in the first episode.

    I started the episode thinking, “Uh, ANOTHER stalker plotline? I’m so tired of this” but they went further with it than I anticipated, and that ending has me interested, lol!

    I kinda wish it had a more black comedy vibe, though? I dunno.

    I do like how they kinda turned the “cold unfeeling male lead” thing into something more interesting by literally forcing him to feel others’ emotions, lol.

      The One and Only has the FL “kill” someone in Episode 1, if the former counts 🤭
      (Unfortunately she’s not the final cause of his death, and the drama would’ve been better if she’d actually killed him but oh well… )

    It’s such a non-toxic show. I’m so thankful for the cast and crew for this excellent work. Now I wonder what will we have for the final 2 eps.

    It’s such an easy and enjoyable ride. With great side characters and plots, a rare drama that the main leads seem to be a backdrop.

Episodes 11-12 of Sh**ting Stars – OUCH.
(But great acting!)
The more I see of celebrity lives, the more I\’m in awe of their resilience.

    I know they do a day job that has in the small print people feel they have a right to dictate how you live your life. I know they are paid well but is it enough to cover the lack of privacy, gruelling schedules that impact on relationships and sudden loss of career if people go off you for any number of reasons.
    I am loving this show but I really want to get back to a low key drama that is a no brainier watch gives a nice dose of feel good factor and that’s it.

      True – the bickering and funny antics of covering for brainless actors was the hook for me. Now I care about the relationships, but it’s not a feel-good watch anymore… Then I end up overthinking celebrities’ lives and feeling just darn grateful to be “normal”. Not quite why I watch dramas!

The chemistry, the well-written characters, the clever villain, the team meetings, the kick which flattened Hyun-soo, the frenemies… I could name lots more things I enjoyed! ✅ Suspicious Partner

I’m loving Shooting Stars despite its flaws. And I’m so happy I found Suspicious Partner. I’m reminded again that dramas are my happy place… (^v^)

25/21 has made me a complete emotional wreck. Sobbed from halfway through the last episode until the end. It’s going to take ages to get over this, beautiful though it was. Someone recommend me something light and fluffy where the leads end up together as a pick-me-up!
