Beanie level: Water maid

AOA’s cover of Mamamoo’s “Egotistic” is incredible. Queendom is such a good show if you enjoy girl groups. Definitely recommend checking it out!

That was really good. AOA is one of my fav girl groups but I haven’t been keeping up with kpop lately. Are there only 5 of them now?

    1

Yup, two members decided not to renew their contract and another left for mental health reasons.

The only one I was aware of was Choa. Wow, down to 5 and still going. Good for them.

This was honestly so good. I hope they win a round or two because their performance are BOMB. I hope no group gets eliminated this week because I live for the girl group interactions from this show.

I wasn’t that excited for Queendom as it’s produced by Mnet but the girls interactions are cool! The show’s goal itself doesn’t matter to me as it’s great to see all girl groups I like (more or less) try different stages.

*sees previews for new fall dramas*
*gets excited*
Little voice in my head: You\’ve only completed 7 dramas this year. You won\’t be watching these anytime soon.

I’m like you! I get all excited about the previews and then… don’t bother watching the dramas? Is this an illness?

    9
    2

Same. I know for sure that I will watch one of them (My Country), but all the others look exciting and then… I won’t bother. In my case I have Kdrama Overload Syndrome: too many choices so I end up choosing none.

      1

That’s a real syndrome all right, as is Netflix Overload Syndrome. Two hours scrolling for a show and u end up falling asleep with nothing watched except trailers 😅

        5
        1

Oh, I do that too! I spend hours looking trying to decide which show to watch, scrolling through lists and lists of them, and then realise I could actually have watched two episodes of something.

          1
          1

I even save them on the watch later list, then i don’t watch any of it cos i’m saving it for LATER. It’s like what is the problem, just watch what’s saved as u will Never run out of things to watch!!

Definitely an issue of kdrama overload mixed with a slump for me. My to-watch list is at like 100 dramas but I’ve been struggling to finish anything I start watching this year.

Not gonna lie, the new shows DO look really good, though…I just have so much dramaland catch-up to do that I won’t end up doing.

This is a slump but partial in my case because of the 8 dramas I’m excited to watch, i end up atleast watching one.

Calling it now: Be Melodramatic will be my favorite drama of 2019. The characters and dialogue are in perfect sync with my own life at the moment, making it even more enjoyable to watch.

Good thing Love Alarm shows what a 10 meter radius is because my dumb American ass had no idea.

Chungha’s “Snapping” was definitely my hot girl summer anthem, but this is my cute girl summer anthem.

I understand why they Zimzalabim recently. That’s the real summer bop they are going for ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Watched the first episode of A Moment at Eighteen and yeah….that\’s some quality stuff. JTBC has been pumping out great dramas this year.

This is the first OST that has given me major feels since I Will Go to You Like the First Snow.

What happened to that drama that was going to have Ra Mi-Ran & Seo Hyun-Jin as leads? I need that in my life right now.

Real life has really gotten in the way of drama watching. All for good reasons, but drama watching has always been my \”solitude time\” and there is a lot less of that lately.

Hotel Del Luna ep. 1 thoughts: The budget looks to be triple of Hwayugi and the direction is much better. IU is fabulous. Remaining cautiously optimistic.

I think Hwayugi blew their budget on a killer OST and they only had like 5 dollars left for the effects. 😂 They are ridiculously bad. *shudder*
This does look promising though. And yes, IU is fantastic in this.

Hwayuyi blew its budget on the cast mostly.

I frankly canโ€™t remember a single song associated to it.

I absolutely loved the songs — and the cast. Hwayugi had so much potential.

*trumpet fanfare* Beanies, I think my drama slump is over!! Woohoo! I\’ve watched the first 10 episodes of My Fellow Citizens and it\’s so nice to watch a drama that is not about romance. The women in it are so badass.

Those 10 episodes were enough for me to be like โ€œOk, maybe I can try some romance.โ€ So I watched the first two episodes of Angelโ€™s Last Mission: Love. Ugh Shin Hye Sun is an incredible actress. Canโ€™t believe I was crying profusely during only the first two episodes!

THEN, I was like โ€œOk, I could use some more wacky romanceโ€. I watched the first four episodes of The Secret Life of My Secretary and enjoyed that as well! Feels good to be back!

Welcome back! I’ve started with my fellow citizens too ๐Ÿ™‚
I’m so tempted to watch Angel’s last mission:love and secret life of my secretary. Going to wait until a few more episodes are subbed. ๐Ÿ™‚

So sad to hear of Pristin\’s disbandment, although I knew it was coming. All members are talented and the group as a whole had immense potential. I will especially miss the Pristin V subunit.

I wonder how this news will affect the future of Yunjin (Kirin-chan) and Kaeun. Maybe they can try another After School group and add the remaining Pristin members?

    1
    1

Yeah, hard to say. Based on the company’s history I think they are just really terrible at managing groups. I would love to see Yunjin debut and Kaeun re-debut, but I almost don’t wish it upon them if it is with Pledis…

Killing Eve Season 2 spoilers ahead

I was becoming a bit disappointed with Season 2 of Killing Eve, but episodes 5 & 6 turned that right around. The Eve-Villanelle dynamic is rapidly changing and I love how Jodie Comer and Sandra Oh are conveying the experience and suppression of emotions & urges their characters are experiencing.

I see spots of humanity in Villanelle as she opens herself up to becoming closer to Eve. But, when she experiences those a bit too much, she becomes impulsive and murderous as her own form of self-control. On the contrary, Eve begins to experience those same impulses that are characteristic of Villanelle. Sheโ€™s more reckless and outspoken. There are times when she reels herself back in, but you can tell she doesnโ€™t want to.

Eve becomes more like Villanelle and Villanelle becomes more like Eve. It was quite jarring to see in episodes 1-4 when they were apart. But, now that they are working together, thrown into the daylight of the real world, it makes much more sense. They exist on a level playing field (at least for now), no longer cat and mouse and I LOVE that. Their separate existences have become so chaotic that they both feel their most grounded when together.

This show is subtle and this season seems to be much more subtle than the first. Lots of incomplete scenes and story happening where the camera does not exist. I find myself watching each episode multiple times. But, I am in awe of both Sandra and Jodie for such huge character development within such small moments. So yeah, a long post and accompanying psychoanalysis because Iโ€™m just really happy with where the show has gone.

If you are also watching, please comment with your thoughts so I can know I am not the only one obsessing over this show.
